Transcripts

Speaker:

Hello my friends, happy new year.

Speaker:

Happy 2026.

Speaker:

I was not going to do an episode this week.

Speaker:

And I even sent a message to my Patreon subscribers

Speaker:

indicating as much, but...

Speaker:

Now it's Friday and I started to feel guilty about not

Speaker:

keeping up with my

Speaker:

pledged to myself to release one episode every week.

Speaker:

So, I'm going to release this episode this week.

Speaker:

It's short, it's not going to be, well it's short so far, it may not be short.

Speaker:

It will be short.

Speaker:

So yeah, I was going to release a interview and interview this week.

Speaker:

But having some issues getting the audio off of Riverside, which is that platform that I can

Speaker:

complain about all the time, and which I will continue to complain about because

Speaker:

it's garbage.

Speaker:

It's garbage.

Speaker:

No good.

Speaker:

No bueno.

Speaker:

I am going to start trying to use a new

Speaker:

free platform to record a remote audio this year.

Speaker:

So if that goes well, I'll be sure to

Speaker:

say good things about it here on the podcast.

Speaker:

Oh, January.

Speaker:

January is the coolest month.

Speaker:

I don't care what T.S. Eliot says.

Speaker:

Does he say April?

Speaker:

April is not the coolest month at all.

Speaker:

April is actually usually a pretty good month.

Speaker:

January, February, those are the cool months.

Speaker:

So you heard it here.

Speaker:

T.S. Eliot is full of it.

Speaker:

I'm coming for you, T.S. Eliot.

Speaker:

I'm coming for you.

Speaker:

I have this coat.

Speaker:

I got this winter coat, this puffer coat, about two years ago now.

Speaker:

It has a very distinct coat.

Speaker:

It's very like a retro vibe coat, very colorful.

Speaker:

Has these stripes on it.

Speaker:

I love it.

Speaker:

But I have never owned a piece of clothing that gets as many compliments as this coat gets.

Speaker:

And I don't mind getting compliments on my clothing.

Speaker:

But I don't really know how to respond.

Speaker:

Like if I say thank you, that's me saying, basically thank you for acknowledging my good taste.

Speaker:

Which is weird to me, you know.

Speaker:

Maybe it's not weird to most people, but it feels weird to me.

Speaker:

It feels weird to say thank you.

Speaker:

Maybe I sometimes say, yeah, I like it too.

Speaker:

Because I didn't make it.

Speaker:

So I just went online and saw it.

Speaker:

And then searched for the lowest price and bought it.

Speaker:

Actually my girlfriend at the time bought me a puffer coat for Christmas.

Speaker:

But it was like this like boring gray puffer coat

Speaker:

that was just complete, it's not my jam.

Speaker:

So I exchanged it for this one that already compliments me on.

Speaker:

And I used to say that she got it for me, but then she broke up with me.

Speaker:

So now I just say it's mine.

Speaker:

I bought it myself.

Speaker:

Because even when I said that she bought it for me,

Speaker:

and maybe this should have been an indication that she was about to break up with me.

Speaker:

But she would say, when we were together and I would say,

Speaker:

oh, she bought it for me, she'd say, well, no, he picked it out.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

So yeah, I was at the UPS store dropping off.

Speaker:

They returned for Amazon in the, when buying the counter said,

Speaker:

I love your coat.

Speaker:

I'm so jealous of it.

Speaker:

Which is a lot jealousy of my coat.

Speaker:

I didn't expect that this morning.

Speaker:

But you know, it's nice to have a piece of clothing

Speaker:

that someone else is jealous of, I guess.

Speaker:

I guess.

Speaker:

No, it is.

Speaker:

Anyway, January's horrible.

Speaker:

I'm already feeling like the low level,

Speaker:

like depression and misery that kind of sets in this time of year when the,

Speaker:

here's the thing, you know, because I would like to be,

Speaker:

I would like to choose, I don't mind snow, right?

Speaker:

But I want to choose when I interact with snow.

Speaker:

I don't want to be, I don't want it to be forced upon me, you know.

Speaker:

I don't want to have to interact with it.

Speaker:

I want to be like, oh, I'm going to go skiing this week.

Speaker:

So I will interact with snow.

Speaker:

But here in Ohio, I am forced to interact with snow.

Speaker:

I have been forced to interact with snow for every winter of the last seven years.

Speaker:

I've been back.

Speaker:

And I'm over it.

Speaker:

I'm over interacting with the snow.

Speaker:

I'm over interacting with the cold.

Speaker:

I'm over putting on my very fashionable puffer coat.

Speaker:

And I won't miss the compliments.

Speaker:

I will not.

Speaker:

Because I think that I have decided that in about two months,

Speaker:

I'm going to move to Mexico City for about six months,

Speaker:

which is the length of a tourist visa.

Speaker:

So that works out.

Speaker:

And just see how it goes.

Speaker:

I'm going to sell a lot of my stuff here or at least try to.

Speaker:

And just kind of end my seven years of life here, seven plus years of life here in Columbus, Ohio.

Speaker:

In the only way that I really can figure out how to right now.

Speaker:

I thought about this, like, how, where do I go?

Speaker:

I've got to get out of this house, as I've said.

Speaker:

Like this landlord situation is not tenable.

Speaker:

And like, I could sign another lease for another, you know, 12 months, but I don't want to be in Columbus that long.

Speaker:

So where else do I go?

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I really don't know.

Speaker:

Where have I been that I've liked in the last year?

Speaker:

Mexico City.

Speaker:

So I'll go there.

Speaker:

It's also much cheaper than living in the United States, which United States has gotten very expensive.

Speaker:

Like, unaffordable really.

Speaker:

For me anyway, of course, I'm unemployed, but, you know, it ain't cheap.

Speaker:

Particularly healthcare.

Speaker:

It's ridiculous how bad it's gotten.

Speaker:

So,

Speaker:

so I think that's what I'm going to do.

Speaker:

And hopefully it works out.

Speaker:

And if it doesn't, it doesn't.

Speaker:

But I feel like I'm stagnating in my life right now.

Speaker:

And I think that I need to take a big leap, you know, like a big jump.

Speaker:

Do something crazy and see where I land.

Speaker:

Because it'll all be okay in the end.

Speaker:

Like it's all going to be fine.

Speaker:

Everything will work itself out.

Speaker:

I would just rather everything was fine in an exciting way

Speaker:

than everything being fine while I sit here and like waste away in my house here.

Speaker:

And avoid the snow in my house and spend what $150 a month on heating bills.

Speaker:

I mean, it's ridiculous.

Speaker:

It's ridiculous.

Speaker:

So,

Speaker:

that's what I'm going to do.

Speaker:

That's the, that's an exciting announcement.

Speaker:

Bonus episode announcement of the day of Friday, January 2nd.

Speaker:

And again, we're about 80% likelihood of that happening.

Speaker:

But I think it is going to happen.

Speaker:

And I'm going to give my notice to my landlord at the beginning of February.

Speaker:

Because if I give it to him now, he's going to be a lunatic.

Speaker:

For two months.

Speaker:

But if I give it to him at the beginning of February, he'll only be a lunatic for one month.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Next week I will be back.

Speaker:

I have a bunch of episodes, interviews, recorded in the can,

Speaker:

is it were that are not stuck on river sides.

Speaker:

So, starting next week and the week after and the week after,

Speaker:

I will be back to regular episodes.

Speaker:

Whatever that means to you.

Speaker:

Well, it means that they're going to be interviews with people, interesting people.

Speaker:

So, yeah, for the two people who did reach out on Instagram

Speaker:

a couple of weeks ago asking if the episode this week would be a interview.

Speaker:

First off, thank you for reaching out.

Speaker:

I really do appreciate the engagement.

Speaker:

But I apologized that my response was in retrospect a lie.

Speaker:

I didn't realize.

Speaker:

I thought I was going to have an interview this week, but

Speaker:

Riverside has screwed me again.

Speaker:

I said that weird.

Speaker:

Screwed me again like that.

Speaker:

There you go.

Speaker:

Riverside.

Speaker:

I don't know that anybody I know likes Riverside.

Speaker:

And I don't understand why they can't get their shit together,

Speaker:

but I'm not going to continue to talk about it because to give them more time

Speaker:

on my podcast is to give them more time because bad press is good press as we all know.

Speaker:

Anyway, so as a result of this decision that I've 80% made, I am

Speaker:

overwhelmed a little bit. You know, also a little bit

Speaker:

wistful to be leaving Columbus and the friends that I've met here.

Speaker:

A little anxious about all the things

Speaker:

excited for sure because I mean the reason I'm doing it is to keep things exciting

Speaker:

is to get out of the old comfort zone where all the fun stuff happens.

Speaker:

But the other side of getting out of the comfort zone is that it is outside of your comfort zone.

Speaker:

So prepare for some discomfort.

Speaker:

But discomfort is often better than boredom.

Speaker:

Something like that. Who knows?

Speaker:

But there's a lot of emotions happening and I'm sure a lot more will happen.

Speaker:

And if any of you are listening in the Columbus area and are looking to buy things that I might have,

Speaker:

which are a lot of things I've got a selling electric piano, selling a PlayStation 4,

Speaker:

selling a table. Anyway,

Speaker:

hit me up, onefjfpod@gmail.com or just text me if you know my number.

Speaker:

I was reading that the 2026 in the Chinese Zodiac is the year of the horse.

Speaker:

The

Speaker:

fire horse actually, but we can disregard the fire part for now and just run with horse.

Speaker:

The year of the horse and the year of the horse apparently represents action over reflection,

Speaker:

movement, momentum, independence, brave risks and big changes.

Speaker:

So yeah, giddy up.

Speaker:

I'll see you next week.

Speaker:

Very good, Jeffrey.
