Shownotes

On today's Cannabis Boomer's Journal of News and Reviews in Cannabis Science, Dr. Alex Terrazas PhD gives his take on the latest findings in cannabis research.

Ohio Lawmakers Clash Over Hemp and Marijuana Policies. The new law would prohibit the sale of hemp-derived products with low-level THC, which are currently available in gas stations and smoke shops. On the marijuana front, the bill maintains the current home-growing limits and THC levels, while also allowing cities with dispensaries to finally receive a share of the tax revenue from sales.

Pioneering Marijuana Advocate Don Christen Leaves Lasting Legacy in Maine. Christen, who founded the grassroots organization Maine Vocals in 1989, dedicated his life to ending the prohibition of cannabis in the state. Christen's activism had a profound impact on Maine, as the state now collects $243 million in tax revenue from the cannabis industry.

Today's cannabis science papers are about cannabis and obesity. The studies examined the effects of CBD on glucose tolerance, gut microbiome, and metabolic dysfunction in obese individuals and animal models. The findings suggest that CBD may have therapeutic potential for managing obesity and related metabolic disorders, though further research is needed.
