Shownotes

In this episode, we delve into the importance of understanding human behavior and the impact it has on our interactions with others. Despite our shared humanity, it's crucial to recognize that we see the world through our own filters, leading us to often misunderstand those around us. To truly comprehend others, we must invest time in studying and learning about their thoughts and emotions. One useful tool in this pursuit is the DISC model of human behavior.

Recently, I stumbled upon a book titled "How to Have Confidence and Power in Dealing with People," which emphasizes the significance of preserving our own egos while engaging with others. It suggests that successful human relationships hinge on safeguarding the ego of both parties involved. The Carnegie Institute supports this notion by asserting that technical training only contributes to 15% of success, while the remaining 85% is attributed to personality factors and the ability to interact with others effectively.

It's essential to understand that achieving success does not entail manipulation or coercing others to fulfill our desires. Instead, it revolves around relating to others, comprehending their needs, and uplifting their egos. When we assist others in achieving their goals and desires, we unlock the ability to attain anything we want in life. Zig Ziglar's statement, "You can have anything you want in life as long as you help enough other people get what they want first," encapsulates this perspective.

Ultimately, I hope this newfound awareness compels you to delve deeper into the study of human behavior and develop the skills necessary to adapt to various personalities. Whether in the workplace or in personal life, technical expertise only accounts for a mere 15% of success, while the remaining 85% relies on our ability to connect and engage with others. So go forth and make a positive impact in your interactions, and may your efforts yield remarkable results.
