Should you record your podcast in
seasons or should you do a long
2
:running episodes, episodic podcast?
3
:Let's talk about it.
4
:So in this episode, I'm answering
questions from people who
5
:are inside my Facebook group.
6
:And the question is, should I create
my podcast in seasons or should
7
:I do a running episodic podcast?
8
:So let's answer it.
9
:So stay tuned and I will
answer that question for you.
10
:So what's up?
11
:Welcome back to another Q and a episode
where people ask me questions inside my
12
:Facebook group launch grow explode your
podcast on Facebook if you want to come
13
:and join us, and I come on here on my
podcast and answer them and I love it.
14
:So.
15
:Let's answer today's question.
16
:It is from Lacey and Lacey says, Is
there a benefit or negative to doing
17
:seasons versus continued episodes?
18
:So let's talk about it.
19
:If you have been around here
long enough, you know that I talk
20
:about seasons and I like seasons.
21
:And maybe you have noticed that I also
switched my podcast to non seasons.
22
:So maybe you saw that and
you're like, what the heck?
23
:Or maybe you didn't notice
at all, which is fine.
24
:I probably wouldn't notice.
25
:So let's talk about it because
this is present in something that
26
:is currently going on for me.
27
:So the reason I love seasons is because
I am ADHD, I, my brain is all over
28
:the place and I do really, really,
really fucking well with closed
29
:circles with things that are completed.
30
:It makes my brain space cleared.
31
:So when I came up with seasons.
32
:It was for me, largely, and
how my brain works, okay?
33
:There's, there's also other reasons
why I like seasons, but that is one
34
:of the big reasons why I like it.
35
:So it's how my brain works.
36
:I like to come up with one idea,
and I like to say, Okay, what
37
:is the goal that we are trying
to accomplish with this season?
38
:Then I can use my framework, map that
out, map out my goal, map out the episodes
39
:that are going to help me accomplish that
goal, and then I can record them, and
40
:then it's this beautiful piece of work,
it's this beautiful body of work that
41
:is a season that I can refer back to, I
can, um, use as kind of like a library,
42
:I know that in season two I talked all
about how to edit your podcast, and so.
43
:Anytime anyone asks me the
question, I'm going to go say,
44
:Hey, in season two, I talked about
all about editing your podcast.
45
:So go listen to that episode, right?
46
:Go listen to that whole season.
47
:So I love how it wraps it
up in a pretty little bow.
48
:I also love with seasons, how
you can stop because you're
49
:like, season one is over with.
50
:You can stop and then you can start
again and re engage your audience.
51
:You can say, okay, now
it's time for season two.
52
:Let's re engage.
53
:Let's do like a little relaunch.
54
:Let's do a little giveaway or
something for my new season.
55
:So I love that about seasons.
56
:Now the reason I switched to doing
episodic is because I have a new strategy.
57
:It's because now I'm releasing episodes
twice a week and I'm releasing, and
58
:the other part of this is that, I've
shifted my business and I'm only selling
59
:my membership and I'm only selling
my digital products and digital shop.
60
:And that's it.
61
:So it's not like I'm doing seasons
to warm people up to something that
62
:I'm doing differently in my business.
63
:Cause I'm always doing the same thing now.
64
:This is all I'm forever going
to be doing in my business.
65
:I'm not even going to say forever because
that's ridiculous, but that's what
66
:I'm going to be doing in my business.
67
:And I wanted to switch and increase
the frequency at which I release them.
68
:And I wanted to try a new format,
which is release one episode and then
69
:release a Q and a episode every week.
70
:So there was several reasons
that I wanted to do it like this.
71
:Is one way better than the other way?
72
:No.
73
:I don't think one way is
better than the other way.
74
:I just think that they
serve different purposes.
75
:And you have to decide which one is
right for you and the way that you work.
76
:For a long time, I, I did not
create weekly episodes, I just
77
:created in seasons and I use
those episodes in a different way.
78
:And so right now I'm hyper focused
on increasing my listenership
79
:through the podcasting app.
80
:And I'm just doing things
differently versus.
81
:When I was doing Seasons, I would use that
same content over and over and over in
82
:my business to primarily sell my offers.
83
:Now I am shifting a little bit more
into, I'm not just using my podcast in
84
:my business, but I am growing my podcast.
85
:Not saying that you can't
grow your podcast in Seasons,
86
:but My focus is different.
87
:Okay.
88
:If that makes sense.
89
:So I'm focused in general in my
marketing on producing more and
90
:more content, just to be honest.
91
:And before I wasn't focused on
that, I was focused on let's take
92
:this group of episodes this season
and let's maximize it and use it.
93
:To help me sell my shit.
94
:Okay, so I hope that that makes
sense and the answer to your
95
:question Seasons versus episodic.
96
:I hope that I answered that but it's
really a preference It's really what feels
97
:good for you to create to really what?
98
:Makes sense for your business and
wherever you're at And I want to give
99
:you permission for whoever is listening.
100
:You can do this however you want
to do it and you can change it up.
101
:You can go from doing seasons if
you want and then switch it up
102
:or you can have been episodic and
then now you're going into seasons.
103
:Um, Instead of doing seasons, you
could do series if you want to, if
104
:you don't want to do big full seasons.
105
:Um, I may incorporate some of that into
the podcast, but for now I'm sticking
106
:to my format of two episodes a week,
one where I'm giving information,
107
:one where I'm doing a Q and a,
and that's what I'm doing for now.
108
:So.
109
:I hope that answers your question, Lacey.
110
:And again, if you have questions that
you want me to answer specifically
111
:for you, go over to my Facebook
group, LaunchPro Explode, your
112
:podcast, and come ask me anything.
113
:And so I can, uh, respond
to you here on the podcast.
114
:So I hope that helps and I will
see you in the next episode.
