Shownotes

The main focus of this podcast episode is the hope of eternal life promised by God, who cannot lie. Dr. David Spoon delves into the profound implications of this promise, emphasizing that it was made before time began, highlighting the eternal nature of God's commitments. He discusses the importance of prayer and the role of the audience as prayer warriors, encouraging listeners to share their needs and engage in spiritual fellowship. Throughout the episode, Dr. Spoon blends humor and personal anecdotes to make complex theological concepts accessible, reminding us that despite life's challenges, our faith in God's promises provides us with strength and purpose. The episode serves as a powerful reminder to look forward to the eternal joy awaiting us, as well as the necessity of living out our faith actively in the present.

Dr. David Spoon's podcast unfolds an insightful journey into the heart of faith, community, and the transformative power of prayer. From the beginning, he encourages listeners to share their prayer requests, underscoring the role that collective support plays in the Christian experience. By positioning the audience as active participants in the prayer process, Spoon fosters a sense of unity and belonging, vital for spiritual growth. He highlights that prayer is not just a personal endeavor but a communal act that brings heaven's authority into earthly circumstances, emphasizing the importance of intercession and shared faith among believers.

As the discussion progresses, Spoon delves into the profound concept of eternal life, emphasizing that God's promises are immutable and eternal. Drawing from biblical texts, he reinforces the idea that these commitments were made before the foundation of the world, showcasing God's timeless nature. This reassurance serves as a bedrock for believers, offering hope and encouragement to persevere through life's challenges. Spoon's engaging narrative style, coupled with his humorous observations, keeps the conversation lively while tackling significant theological themes, making the content accessible to a wide audience.

Spoon also addresses the complexities of human dissatisfaction when faced with divine truths, illustrating how worldly perspectives often clash with spiritual realities. By contrasting the fleeting nature of earthly concerns with the lasting promise of eternal joy, he challenges listeners to realign their priorities and focus on the greater hope found in Christ. The podcast serves not only as a source of encouragement but as a powerful reminder of the active nature of faith, inviting listeners to participate fully in their spiritual journeys and to be vessels of God's promises in a world that desperately needs hope.

Dr. David Spoon:

The views expressed on the following program are designed to amplify those of the speaker and are not necessarily those of kaam, DJRD Broadcasting or its sponsors.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hello, everybody.

Dr. David Spoon:

When it's cold outside, I've got.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up on today's experience.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dave.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's right.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

With a doctorate, which does mean that I'm a doctor.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dave's devotional diamonds of the day, also known as DDDs, where my daily devotions become some of our spiritual reflections.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sound effects placed throughout the show which have nothing to do with life.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the Bible teaches there's a time to laugh and many of you could use a good chuckle.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's true.

Dr. David Spoon:

The review of the goofy news which proves Jesus is coming back sooner than you think.

Dr. David Spoon:

Most of us hope before tomorrow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hello.

Dr. David Spoon:

Life lessons for our faith that we could actually use.

Dr. David Spoon:

Probably won't if we sit on our blessed assurance.

Dr. David Spoon:

Humor that will force you to think, why does this guy have a radio show?

Dr. David Spoon:

Cause I broke the Internet here at the station, that's why.

Dr. David Spoon:

Also Bible trivia for fake and yet somehow real cool prizes, your phone calls and more.

Jammin Jacob:

Living this life, not always easy running in.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh.

Dr. David Spoon:

Welcome to the David Spoon Experience.

Dr. David Spoon:

Local, national and heavenly talk.

Dr. David Spoon:

My name is Dr.

Dr. David Spoon:

David Spoon and I'll be your host for the next 5,400,000 milliseconds.

Dr. David Spoon:

Get ready for one of the more bizarre experiences on live radio.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here is the key to the show.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't know what we're doing.

Dr. David Spoon:

We have no idea what's gonna happen and we don't care.

Dr. David Spoon:

But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk faith with you.

Dr. David Spoon:

So here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we're asking questions and before we tell you what that question is, we want people to know we are aware that the Internet is not working through the station at this particular time.

Dr. David Spoon:

So if you're listening, it's probably in your car or on a good old fashioned AM radio.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why we gotta support AM radio.

Dr. David Spoon:

Bottom line, people who have the apps, doesn't matter which our apps or the apps for the station maybe not getting quite the same noise.

Dr. David Spoon:

Their noise is like this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah, that's all they're hearing.

Dr. David Spoon:

So bottom line is simply this.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're understanding, we're aware.

Dr. David Spoon:

For those that are wanting to let us know, we know, just in case you're wondering.

Dr. David Spoon:

But we do want you to be aware of this.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're going to ask you a question still, and it's still pertinent for you today.

Dr. David Spoon:

And even more so because you are the ones hearing it, here's the question we're going to ask you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Kind of the question that makes us think about our Christian walk.

Dr. David Spoon:

What can our prayer warriors pray for you about?

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, every time I bring that up, I think people think we have a crew of hundreds of people who are just sitting there with their hands on their phone ready to pray for one another.

Dr. David Spoon:

That is not the case.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our prayer warriors are our audience.

Dr. David Spoon:

And if you've got something that's going on and you need heaven to break into earth in order for that circumstance to change, well, by golly, that's good news.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because God's kingdom comes and his will is done right here on earth like it is in heaven.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know who said that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know when he said that, talking about prayer, he mentions prayer and teaches them about praying in Matthew chapter six and tells everybody in this prayer process, praying, thy kingdom come, Thy will be done.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why we pray, because the Lord wants us to and because bringing into heaven, bringing heaven's authority and power into earth in our circumstance is just wise.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why.

Dr. David Spoon:

So you might be thinking, yeah, I do have something I want to pray about.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe you've got an opinion, a comment, a thought or a question.

Dr. David Spoon:

We don't want it to die of loneliness.

Dr. David Spoon:

We recognize some people are gonna be a little more afraid.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're just gonna encourage you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Anyway, you can use the telephone.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

The telephone?

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

No more Rice Crispy.

Dr. David Spoon:

We ran out of Rice Krispies.

Dr. David Spoon:

My tears wear.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is brilliant.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's all I'm gonna say to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Absolutely brilliant.

Dr. David Spoon:

I just wanna say, talking to Jem and Jacob, that's like heading into the week with great faith and expectation.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't you sit there and face today and tomorrow with fear.

Dr. David Spoon:

That is not okay.

Dr. David Spoon:

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, we might question the sound mind thing thinking about that.

Dr. David Spoon:

We just played the.

Dr. David Spoon:

No more Rice Krispies.

Dr. David Spoon:

But excellent, excellent job, Jam and Jacob.

Jammin Jacob:

Thank you, David, and Happy Monday.

Jammin Jacob:

And yes, just decided to play that as a little joke there since.

Jammin Jacob:

Because the Internet, I haven't been able to put in a new intro.

Jammin Jacob:

So David was like, play the Rice Krispies.

Jammin Jacob:

I said, okay, I'll do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's amazing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, you know what?

Dr. David Spoon:

Things don't go perfect.

Dr. David Spoon:

You want to know what?

Dr. David Spoon:

That's really kind of connected to your life.

Dr. David Spoon:

Have you ever noticed that everything is not perfect Every single time.

Dr. David Spoon:

I always, I'm amazed at people who always go, that's perfect.

Dr. David Spoon:

Everything's perfect.

Dr. David Spoon:

Everything's perfect.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's like what?

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, we have situations, they go up and down.

Dr. David Spoon:

But you know what?

Dr. David Spoon:

We look to the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our help comes from the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so we encourage you if you've got prayer requests, if you got something going on, you need prayer, hey, great opportunity.

Dr. David Spoon:

We will pray for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because the Lord loves to be pursued and faith pleases him.

Dr. David Spoon:

So that's what we put together.

Dr. David Spoon:

So we'll keep it super easy.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you want to reach out to us by telephone, you can do that now because my system is on a separate wifi.

Dr. David Spoon:

Can I say that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Separate WI fi.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can still text.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can text me.

Dr. David Spoon:

I can get a text.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

A little slower for those who kind of need it that way.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because it's still on my wifi and I can still get email.

Dr. David Spoon:

David must increase.org David D A V I D.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what they named me at birth.

Dr. David Spoon:

I wasn't there but it is on that goofy little piece of paper.

Dr. David Spoon:

David at a with a circle.

Dr. David Spoon:

He must increase from John 3:30 he must increase.

Dr. David Spoon:

I must decrease.

Dr. David Spoon:

Because we're a nonprofit corporation.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why.

Dr. David Spoon:

It just proves we don't make any money.

Jammin Jacob:

So some good news we do have still.

Jammin Jacob:

We still have Internet problems here at the station but I did check and we are playing through the KAM website and through he must increase.org.

Jammin Jacob:

so wow, we are back on the air as far as the website.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay people, that's always good news.

Dr. David Spoon:

So now you really have no excuse.

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

-:

Dr. David Spoon:

Right?

Dr. David Spoon:

You know it's true.

Dr. David Spoon:

God has done so many awesome things for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not only that, but you can also call Up.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got a praise report, maybe you've said, you know what, Dave?

Dr. David Spoon:

I've gone through this entire political system and the whole thing, and you know what I'm just thankful for?

Dr. David Spoon:

What's that, brother?

Dr. David Spoon:

What's that, sister?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's almost over.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe that's your praise report.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe you got a scripture.

Dr. David Spoon:

Maybe you got something you want to share.

Dr. David Spoon:

We get it.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's how we keep it simple.

Dr. David Spoon:

Our bent, our slant is to encourage one another as we see the day of Jesus Christ getting closer and closer and closer and closer and closer and closer.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's a lot closer today than it was yesterday.

Dr. David Spoon:

Huh?

Dr. David Spoon:

You know that's true.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so we're encouraging you.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're just putting it all before you.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got something you want to share, share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got something that you got a scripture on your heart and mind, share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you've got a prayer request, share it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's do it together the way that God intended.

Dr. David Spoon:

The greatest sense of unity in the entire Christian church is through the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

Same dad, blood relatives, drinking of one spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

That is how you do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And by the way, the scripture says, keep the unity, not find it, keep it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

So we said all that to let you know those things.

Dr. David Spoon:

We will be doing Jake's take in the second 60 minutes.

Dr. David Spoon:

We are experiencing some interesting levels of spiritual warfare.

Dr. David Spoon:

It looks like somebody, not me nor my son, took down two videos we had about voting on our website.

Dr. David Spoon:

One can only surmise where that came from.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll just leave that there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's the bottom line.

Dr. David Spoon:

Tomorrow a lot of people will go out and vote.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we have told you time and time again, we will not tell you who to vote for, but we will tell you who to vote with.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that is with the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you make those decisions in your engagement with the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

You do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, he wrote a book.

Dr. David Spoon:

He created the universe.

Dr. David Spoon:

The dude can write a book.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, we'll leave that one right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Got that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Created the universe, can write a book.

Dr. David Spoon:

Makes sense, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

Universe, book.

Dr. David Spoon:

Got it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Additionally, you want to be led by the Holy Spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Romans 8:14.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will not tell you who to vote for.

Dr. David Spoon:

I will tell you who to vote with with the Lord.

Dr. David Spoon:

And if you have an actual breach of conscience where you can't vote, that's separate.

Dr. David Spoon:

Romans 14 gives you that place.

Dr. David Spoon:

But if you're just lazy.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's lazy.

Dr. David Spoon:

And that's not exactly high quality Christianity.

Dr. David Spoon:

Okay, so none of that.

Dr. David Spoon:

If it's genuinely offensive for you and you can't do it before the Lord, that's separate.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you're just lazy or you just don't want to get into the long line or whatever, that's just not an excuse.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Lord's given us an opportunity to use our freedom.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's use it wisely.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just remember, if the godly people don't vote, the godless people will rule.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's just true.

Dr. David Spoon:

Can't get away from that.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, so we did all that, said all that, got that, all that going.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll do our best, by the way, to keep everybody posted.

Dr. David Spoon:

The Friday shows are not up.

Dr. David Spoon:

They'll be up later on this evening.

Dr. David Spoon:

This evening.

Dr. David Spoon:

They'll be up later on and we'll be working our way towards that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't forget to keep my wife in prayer.

Dr. David Spoon:

She is doing better, but needs a little bit of extra.

Dr. David Spoon:

Right, that's important.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right, in the meantime, we're going into the Word of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because we love the Word of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Faith comes by hearing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hearing by the word of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

And man, have we got some good stuff today.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, boy.

Dr. David Spoon:

And don't forget, when we get to Jake's take, we'll be talking about all the takes, but we'll get there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not yet.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Titus.

Dr. David Spoon:

As you know, we started in Titus, Titus the young protege.

Dr. David Spoon:

One of the three pastoral epistles.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's First Timothy, second Timothy and Titus.

Dr. David Spoon:

Those are known as the Pastoral epistles because they're very pastoral like.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why this book most likely written about 63 AD.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're not sure just before or just after the prison.

Dr. David Spoon:

Probably just after the prison time, but about 30 years after Paul got converted.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so Paul's writing this to Titus.

Dr. David Spoon:

We already open it up that he identified himself as a servant and as an apostle, which is really important.

Dr. David Spoon:

But he didn't just say, I'm an apostle because I'm super cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I like titles, man.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's how people are in politics, in Hollywood, in the media, in academia.

Dr. David Spoon:

People love titles.

Dr. David Spoon:

They do.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, what Paul says is, look, here's my title.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm a servant first.

Dr. David Spoon:

A servant of God first.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the highest title any one of us could have to be a servant of the most High God.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then he says, for the faith of God's elect and their knowledge of the truth.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we talked about that being epicinosa, that contact Knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're picking it up in verse two.

Dr. David Spoon:

It says this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, my.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

In the hope of eternal life that God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

Listen to what is being said.

Dr. David Spoon:

Please, brothers and sisters, put everything else to the side.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nothing is more important than God's prevailing truth that lasts forever.

Dr. David Spoon:

Elections don't last forever.

Dr. David Spoon:

Truth does.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Paul writes under the verbal plenary process of the Holy Spirit.

Dr. David Spoon:

That means the Holy Spirit's directing him what to say without him losing his personality.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says, in the hope of eternal life.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's get something straight, drop it on the table and not be liars about it.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're not doing this so that we can have 80, 90 years.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm not doing this for 80, 90 years.

Dr. David Spoon:

80, 90 years, and then, no, no, I'm doing this forever and forever and forever.

Dr. David Spoon:

What I need to know in my heart and mind is what is coming is so phenomenal that I can put up with anything, because for the joy that is set before me, I can keep pushing forward.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you might be thinking, man, Dave, sometimes it gets really hard to get out of bed.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes it gets really hard just to do it again another day.

Dr. David Spoon:

Sometimes just to get in the car and to drive to work.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's hard just to hear what I gotta hear, put up with what I gotta put up with.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let me explain something to you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Jesus gave the example in Hebrews, chapter 12, 1, 2 and 3.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the scripture is lights out, clear.

Dr. David Spoon:

For the joy that was set before him.

Dr. David Spoon:

He endured the cross, despising the shame.

Dr. David Spoon:

In other words, the joy that was set before him gave him the ability to go, here we go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Even the devil tried to give Jesus a shortcut.

Dr. David Spoon:

You know, if you bow down and worship me, we'll just have everybody worship you.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now, you don't have to go through that whole crucifixion thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nope.

Dr. David Spoon:

For the joy that was set before him.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we need to remember something.

Dr. David Spoon:

We have a hope of eternal life, and we're not talking about eternal life.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I'm just going to make sure I say this correctly.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is not to offend anybody who goes to doctors or dentists, but this is not about reading their magazine, sitting on a cloud, playing a harp, and then going, toodle, toodle, toodle, toodle, toodle, toodle.

Dr. David Spoon:

That is not what eternity is going to be.

Dr. David Spoon:

Eternity is so phenomenal, you can't even imagine.

Dr. David Spoon:

In fact, when you read Revelation, people read it and they're like, you know, well, it says this and it says this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yes, but much of it is past your overall comprehension in the sense of what it all actually means or what it actually realizes when you're participating in it.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's kind of like a football game.

Dr. David Spoon:

And don't get mad at me for saying this illustration, but it's a good one.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you watch football on tv, it can be a lot of fun.

Dr. David Spoon:

If you're at the game, it's a whole nother atmosphere.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's one of the things that I love about hockey.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're thinking hockey, hunting, sports into this.

Dr. David Spoon:

When you go to a hockey game, you know what you find out?

Dr. David Spoon:

You find out that there's a coolness from the ice that comes up and hits you in the face.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you're like, oh, I'm into this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Well, when we get to heaven, it's going to be ho, ho, ho.

Dr. David Spoon:

You get a little bit of a visual when you're looking at revelation.

Dr. David Spoon:

When we get there, it's going to be like, wow.

Dr. David Spoon:

Eye has not seen, neither has ear heard.

Dr. David Spoon:

Neither has entered into the hearts of men the things which God has prepared for them.

Dr. David Spoon:

God's got something cooking.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, seven days.

Dr. David Spoon:

He got the world done.

Dr. David Spoon:

2,000 years to get heaven done.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yeah.

Dr. David Spoon:

For our new heavens and new Earth.

Dr. David Spoon:

All right.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's going to be awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you should be excited about it.

Dr. David Spoon:

In fact, you should be looking forward to it.

Dr. David Spoon:

In fact, that should be a part of your everyday existence.

Dr. David Spoon:

The last portion of scripture in Revelation 22 is, Come, Lord Jesus, let's go.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's get this thing rolling.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's do it.

Dr. David Spoon:

And in hope of eternal life, that's what we're doing this for.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Paul also said, if we only have our faith in this life, we are of all men most miserable.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're thinking, why is that?

Dr. David Spoon:

It's still a good life?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because the devil keeps getting to beat you up sometimes, and it's not cool.

Dr. David Spoon:

But when we're there, it's like, ha, ha, ha.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's what we put up with for all of this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Glory, hallelujah, and we're gonna share in that glory.

Dr. David Spoon:

And like I said last week, which I think is phenomenal, I think people are thinking, you know, we're gonna get up there, we're gonna do this with this.

Dr. David Spoon:

I think one of the big things that's gonna happen is it is gonna be a.

Dr. David Spoon:

And I don't know how it's structured.

Dr. David Spoon:

Nobody does.

Dr. David Spoon:

But a phenomenal reunion with those that have gone before us.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you say, well, how do you say that?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because when Moses and Elijah were on the mount of Transfiguration.

Dr. David Spoon:

What did Peter, James and John say?

Dr. David Spoon:

Specifically Peter.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, there's Moses.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, there's Elijah.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, how did they know?

Dr. David Spoon:

They didn't have any pictures.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, how did they know in that atmosphere?

Dr. David Spoon:

We know one another.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wha.

Dr. David Spoon:

You mean I'm going to talk to Noah, then you're going to say, dude, a lot of drinking on that one page right there.

Dr. David Spoon:

Dude.

Dr. David Spoon:

I mean, come on, you know, it's going to be so awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're going to spend time, we're going to hear tales from the things that have taken place.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's going to be great.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's the hope of eternal life that God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Oh, by the way, who cannot lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

Who?

Dr. David Spoon:

God who cannot lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now this is going to really bother some people.

Dr. David Spoon:

Some people are very overly legalistic in some of this.

Dr. David Spoon:

So I'll just be careful in how I say it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Look, the word of God is the plumb line, period.

Dr. David Spoon:

You will never see, hear or do anything in the kingdom of God that is contrary to the word of God as it has been manifested to man.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the reality check.

Dr. David Spoon:

God created the universe, the dude can write a book.

Dr. David Spoon:

But there are people who have received promises from God and if they are genuinely from God, there is no way it doesn't get fulfilled because God does not lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's part of the big issue here, okay?

Dr. David Spoon:

This is a crucial aspect of his character that he cannot lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's critical to understand that because it means that every word that he's put in his word is true.

Dr. David Spoon:

And Romans 3:4 underscores the truth of this by stating every man is a liar.

Dr. David Spoon:

You even lie to yourself.

Dr. David Spoon:

Who are you kidding?

Dr. David Spoon:

But God is always true, forever true, consistently true.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what we find out is in God's faithfulness, in his goodness, in his declaration, he made this promise to you and I about eternal life.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it is never gonna change.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's not gonna change.

Dr. David Spoon:

And they can load up and destroy every Christian on the planet whatever they want.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's never going to change.

Dr. David Spoon:

Not changing doesn't matter.

Dr. David Spoon:

We're going to spend eternity with God and hot dog is going to be awesome.

Dr. David Spoon:

And God who's made promises to you, will never fail.

Dr. David Spoon:

And listen to what the scripture says.

Dr. David Spoon:

In hope of eternal life, that God who cannot lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

Wait, wait, wait.

Dr. David Spoon:

Promised before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

What?

Dr. David Spoon:

Where are my sci fi people?

Dr. David Spoon:

Promised before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

What are you talking about?

Dr. David Spoon:

Time was granted on our behalf.

Dr. David Spoon:

Have you read Genesis 1 so that we can mark times and seasons, Time in and of itself was given to mankind as a gift to help us.

Dr. David Spoon:

God don't need it.

Dr. David Spoon:

God does not need.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's an interlinear being.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so listen to what he says.

Dr. David Spoon:

God who cannot lie, promised promise you in hope of eternal life.

Dr. David Spoon:

God who cannot lie, promised before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

This promise comes before time even started.

Dr. David Spoon:

God gives you something else.

Dr. David Spoon:

Hey, I got something before you even understood, before you glean in your parents eyes.

Dr. David Spoon:

I got a promise for you that will pass all the knowledge of a finite person.

Dr. David Spoon:

And here it is.

Dr. David Spoon:

What is it?

Dr. David Spoon:

Time does not constrain or restrict God.

Dr. David Spoon:

And so he has told us, he has made a promise for us to have eternal life before way before there was a planet, way before there was a planet.

Dr. David Spoon:

People go, well not really way before, Dave, because it could be day one, day do day two, day three.

Dr. David Spoon:

A day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day.

Dr. David Spoon:

There you go.

Dr. David Spoon:

So the most fascinating part of this in verse two is he's promised eternal life.

Dr. David Spoon:

He can't lie.

Dr. David Spoon:

That promise was made before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's very challenging for finite beings to comprehend that.

Dr. David Spoon:

Let's be honest.

Dr. David Spoon:

But time was created for the benefit of man before time existed.

Dr. David Spoon:

God always was, always is and always will be and is the same today and then.

Dr. David Spoon:

And we'll close with this because this is too outrageous.

Dr. David Spoon:

Verse three, in his own time.

Dr. David Spoon:

What do you mean his own time?

Dr. David Spoon:

You mean God has a separate timeline?

Dr. David Spoon:

You bet.

Dr. David Spoon:

In his own time, he has revealed his word in the preaching with which I was entrusted by the command of God our Savior.

Dr. David Spoon:

This drives us right into God's timing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Still talking about timing.

Dr. David Spoon:

But it's God's timing, not our timing.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why we're lucky if the watch is right.

Dr. David Spoon:

We think we know so much, we understand carbon dating.

Dr. David Spoon:

But don't let there be any earthquake because it ruins it.

Dr. David Spoon:

Here's the bottom line.

Dr. David Spoon:

The bottom line is we ain't that smart.

Dr. David Spoon:

But in God's perfect timing, in his own time, he revealed through preaching that which Paul said was entrusted to him by God our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's a significant statement because Paul knows as he's writing this, he's writing holy scripture.

Dr. David Spoon:

He knows he's writing.

Dr. David Spoon:

He says, listen.

Dr. David Spoon:

He said in his own time, he's revealed his word in the preaching with which I was entrusted by the command of God our Savior.

Dr. David Spoon:

Paul is writing the commands of God.

Dr. David Spoon:

He knows it.

Dr. David Spoon:

But the thing you and I need to pick up on in this 1, 2, 3 verse, which is just super, super, super fascinating is that God has made a promise for you.

Dr. David Spoon:

It is an immovable promise.

Dr. David Spoon:

It will not change.

Dr. David Spoon:

It is more sure than the foundation of the earth, since the earth will pass away.

Dr. David Spoon:

But God's promises are yes and amen and have never failed once.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the big promise that Paul is opening up with Timothy is we're going to live forever.

Dr. David Spoon:

You see, inside man is this desire to live forever, but this inability to seize how, because we can't figure out how to do it in and of ourselves, by ourselves.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yet with Jesus, immortality, the Bible says, came to light.

Dr. David Spoon:

In other words, ding, somebody turned on a light bulb and now we get immortality.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not just a fantasy.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not a book.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's an opportunity and a promise from the most high God.

Dr. David Spoon:

Want to jump on board?

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the invitation.

Dr. David Spoon:

God, who cannot lie, promised before time began and in his own time he's revealed.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is the other part about it that I don't want to admit to, but it's true.

Dr. David Spoon:

God's watch is different than mine.

Dr. David Spoon:

Did you ever notice?

Dr. David Spoon:

He said, the Lord, now is a good time.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now is a good time.

Dr. David Spoon:

Now is a good time.

Dr. David Spoon:

And the Lord doesn't respond to that very often.

Dr. David Spoon:

Why?

Dr. David Spoon:

Because his watch is better than your watch.

Dr. David Spoon:

And what you think is a good time, or what David Spoon thinks is a good time, or what any minister thinks is a good time is cute, but not relevant.

Dr. David Spoon:

God's timing is perfect both now and always.

Dr. David Spoon:

He has never been late.

Dr. David Spoon:

He has never missed.

Dr. David Spoon:

We might sit there and think, yes, but I wish he would do this, that whatever, you know, what we say, well, when you become God, you tell him, until then, be quiet and do what he says.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's how Paul opens this.

Dr. David Spoon:

Just this little thing and you know, the fieriness that's there in hope of eternal life that God who cannot lie, promised before time began.

Dr. David Spoon:

And in his own time he's revealed his word in the preaching with which I was entrusted by the command of God, our Savior, to Titus, my son in the faith.

Dr. David Spoon:

Woo, doggy.

Dr. David Spoon:

We'll get to that.

Dr. David Spoon:

But in the meantime, we're gonna break.

Dr. David Spoon:

Take a deep breath.

Dr. David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

Dr. David Spoon:

Short break, we'll be back.

Dr. David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

Dr. David Spoon:

What the whole teaching has to do with is the dissatisfaction that people have who are worldly when the divine is involved.

Dr. David Spoon:

I want you to hear that line.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the big line.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the big Connector between all of this.

Dr. David Spoon:

The worldly are never satisfied if divinity is involved.

Dr. David Spoon:

So the example Jesus says is, you know, we played the flute for you, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

And the flute, you know, woo the flute.

Dr. David Spoon:

Yay.

Dr. David Spoon:

Happy sounds, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

And the people are like, no.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's like, okay, well, we sang a dirge for you, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

What you sing at a funeral, right?

Dr. David Spoon:

And the people were like, no.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then John the Baptist, he says, comes, and John the Baptist is as straight as you can get.

Dr. David Spoon:

We would call him, you know, a massive teetotaler, might be fair enough to say.

Dr. David Spoon:

And he says, he's not eating bread.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's not drinking any wine.

Dr. David Spoon:

And you people, the way you respond, you go, hey, he's got a demon.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then Jesus, he says, I come, Son of man comes.

Dr. David Spoon:

I'm eating and drinking.

Dr. David Spoon:

And then what do the people do?

Dr. David Spoon:

They extreme it out.

Dr. David Spoon:

And they say, he's a glutton because he's eating, not eating more than he should.

Dr. David Spoon:

He's just eating, and he's a drunkard because he had wine.

Dr. David Spoon:

You see, this is the thing.

Dr. David Spoon:

The thing is that the world and the worldly are never satisfied.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's why I said that connection to the song.

Dr. David Spoon:

And don't get mad at me that I used a Rolling Stone song.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's not my fault.

Dr. David Spoon:

They wrote a song called I Can't get no Satisfaction.

Dr. David Spoon:

This is the Lord trying to reach people at different levels, and people keep going, no, no, no, no.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's nonstop, and there's just no satisfying them.

Dr. David Spoon:

And even the one thing that I would say, and I've said this before in the beginning of this broadcast, and I don't really care about your political affiliations, but when people get going in a certain direction, you can't move them one way or another.

Dr. David Spoon:

And when the media was all over Donald Trump, it's fair to say that had he helped cure cancer with research, they would have accused Donald Trump of putting people out of business who were in the cancer business.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's just like that's exactly what they would have done.

Dr. David Spoon:

Everybody knows that.

Dr. David Spoon:

And it's because that's how the mentality is.

Dr. David Spoon:

If somebody comes along and does something that's good and it's not appreciative to the world, or they don't like it, they will rip it to shreds.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can't play the flute.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can't sing a dirge.

Dr. David Spoon:

You can't be Johnny the Baptist, and you can't be Jesus Christ, because none of those things satisfy.

Dr. David Spoon:

We want exactly what we want.

Dr. David Spoon:

Which, by the way, they don't even know what they want.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the irony.

Dr. David Spoon:

It's God that's giving the opportunity for people to get the answers.

Dr. David Spoon:

And people are so inwardly confused because of Satan, they wouldn't know a good thing if it split them in the eyeballs.

Dr. David Spoon:

That's the problem.
