Shownotes

Happy Virgo Season, Scorekeepers! On this week's episode of THE SCORE, we are without the indomitable Lee Bynum, but fear not, because Rocky and Paige are joined all show by violinist extraordinaire and our first returning guest, Emilia Mettenbrink, who also just so happens to be the brand new EDI Coordinator at MN Opera!!! After a reading from the Book of Renaissance and quick catch up, Emilia gives us the lowdown on all the highs and lows of playing violin all summer with the world-renowned orchestra in idyllic Chautauqua, New York (0:27:24). She tells us about meeting idols like Rhiannon Giddens and (almost) Misty Copeland, being there in the immediate aftermath of Salman Rushdie's stabbing, and her experience as a Black woman in a rather conservative area. Finally, we couldn't leave you without a Pure Black Joy (1:11:39), in which we celebrate all the Black women musicians, who aren't Beyoncé, that are helping us release the wiggle. Let's do it to it, y'all!

Hosts: Rocky Jones, Paige Reynolds

Special Co-Host: Emilia Mettenbrink

Producer: Rocky Jones
