Transcripts

Speaker:

Hi and welcome to the Guardian Way.

2

:

Today's episode, episode 119,

3

:

deals with security options that can be,

4

:

that can be provided by private security

firms for schools and campuses.

5

:

This particular episode is can be

6

:

one of several we're going to be doing

over the next few weeks that it

7

:

that came from a survey that was conducted

with all of our connections

8

:

to Guardian Connection of Protection

Force.

9

:

And so, this is the first one of that,

the co-producer, of course,

10

:

for the series, Gareth Thomas, is with us

this morning to take us through this.

11

:

Good morning. Garrett.

12

:

Good morning.

13

:

You know, this is one

that's been really popular.

14

:

It's been in the news

for obvious reasons.

15

:

A lot of people are concerned about it.

16

:

You know,

17

:

if you have a kid

18

:

that's in school, you're probably asking

these types of questions.

19

:

So let's dive into it. Great. Thanks.

20

:

Well, let's get started.

21

:

All right,

22

:

so the first thing is a visible train

security presence.

23

:

When people or planning,

bad actors are planning certain things,

24

:

you know, the, the deterrence of,

a well-equipped

25

:

and trained security officer, can make

the difference between them deciding

26

:

to, stop their plans

or do it somewhere else.

27

:

Controlled access

and perimeter management.

28

:

This is something

that is extremely important.

29

:

And it could be just it could be free.

30

:

It could be something that you set up,

these different boundaries.

31

:

A lot of times I go on to a campus.

32

:

It's open. Right?

33

:

It's like an open park. Almost.

34

:

If your campus is set up that way,

you really have to consider.

35

:

How can I make some sort of stops?

36

:

How could I make it

so that anybody coming on has to check in?

37

:

They have to,

you know, be identified, and,

38

:

or the purpose, for their visit

has to be identified.

39

:

So that in itself

is very preventative in nature.

40

:

People who are planning to do

certain actions,

41

:

may be thwarted by that, in itself,

but also gives you a better, idea

42

:

and understanding of who is on your campus

and what they're doing.

43

:

Incident prevention

and early threat detection,

44

:

such as proactive patrols,

situational awareness

45

:

training for your staff,

and behavioral observation techniques.

46

:

For example, you might have janitorial,

47

:

staff that is, walking around campus

all the time.

48

:

Are they, aware of their surroundings

and understanding something

49

:

that, you know,

stands out, something that's abnormal?

50

:

Emergency

response and crisis coordination.

51

:

Immediate onsite, response to medical,

behavioral or security incidents.

52

:

Student staff and apparent confidence.

53

:

We private security could provide

a professional security presence

54

:

that reinforces safety culture.

55

:

Sports campus policies and enhances,

trust across the school community.

56

:

So this is something that you want

at your campus.

57

:

I highly suggest

you call a security consultant a guardian.

58

:

This is great information.

59

:

I'm sure our audience

is going to appreciate this year.

60

:

And as we wrap this episode up,

why don't you take it through again?

61

:

Some of the various private

62

:

security options that are provided

by Guardian Protection Force.

63

:

A no fee site assessment,

workplace violence prevention plans,

64

:

air camera solutions, garden patrol

services, armed unarmed

65

:

security operations plans

66

:

assessments, contentious termination

services and executive protection.

67

:

Until next time,

stay safe and we'll see you then.
