Speaker A:

On this week's episode of Devil Strap podcast.

Speaker B:

Let's do this.

Speaker B:

Welcome to this week's episode of Devil's Trap podcast.

Speaker B:

I'm Diana and we're going to Talk about Season 11, Episode 15, beyond the Mat Smack.

Speaker A:

The sound of a body hitting the mat.

Speaker A:

Pile drive somebody.

Speaker A:

But I didn't pile drive them into the microphone because I thought that would be rude to your ears.

Speaker B:

I appreciate.

Speaker A:

So what's going on?

Speaker B:

Yeah, I'm just went and saw show because that's what I did.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Now my.

Speaker B:

We're.

Speaker B:

We're in full planning for the invasion car show coming up the end of October.

Speaker B:

That in deep ellum.

Speaker B:

But I've also been opening the Longhorn Ballroom or sorry Longhorn Backyard Amphitheater.

Speaker B:

So I had Randy Rogers band play at one of my venues this past weekend.

Speaker B:

So we had a good old Texas Red dirt country show and it went really well and that was fun.

Speaker A:

Cool.

Speaker B:

That's what I got.

Speaker B:

That's what I got.

Speaker B:

I'm getting ready for vacation which I desperately need to go not bring my laptop.

Speaker A:

You should not do that.

Speaker A:

You should, you should unplug.

Speaker B:

I just had like two books I had pre ordered download in the last week too.

Speaker B:

You know that happens when you're like fuck, I'm out of everything to read and I don't even know what they are yet but I know I pre ordered two books and you get like the.

Speaker B:

Your charges.

Speaker B:

You've been charged for your down your pre order and I'm like, yes, I've got books to read on my trip.

Speaker A:

Thank God.

Speaker A:

That is exciting.

Speaker B:

I have to go look for things.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Yeah, you just got.

Speaker B:

You've been traveling a little bit.

Speaker A:

Yeah, I just got back from Chicago.

Speaker A:

I went up there for Riot Fest and it was, it was very pleasant.

Speaker A:

The city is a nice time to go visit Chicago.

Speaker A:

Like you can just walk around and it's not.

Speaker A:

Not sweaty and not cold yet.

Speaker A:

So it was just kind of like the perfect Riot Fest weather except there was some rain which was obnoxious.

Speaker A:

But that was only for like a little bit and only during, only on Saturday was really the, the main.

Speaker A:

The main time where it was rain.

Speaker A:

So but, but then that made like the ground a little muddy which already when you're at a festival we already feel like you're standing in a field and then there's the.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And there was at one point when Weird Al Yankovic was playing and of course everybody and their goddamn mother wants to go see Weird Al and they were playing the same Time as Stiff Little Fingers.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

And I kind of saw the crowd.

Speaker A:

I saw what was happening.

Speaker A:

And so if you can see things online about, like, the Riot Fest crowd mush, like, and how, like, it can get really scary just because there's, like, thousands of people moving between stages.

Speaker A:

And then I just realized that everybody was flooding the Weird Al stage, and I went, you know what?

Speaker A:

I am going to watch Stiff little fingers, and I love them.

Speaker A:

And who knows when the next time I'm gonna see Jake Burns is?

Speaker A:

And I bet I can go see Weird Al play another show sometime.

Speaker A:

And my friend's like, we're going to see Weird Al.

Speaker A:

And then within five minutes, nope, we will come find you.

Speaker A:

Where.

Speaker A:

Where are you at?

Speaker A:

Because nobody wanted to be in that crowd.

Speaker A:

And sometimes, yeah, that crowd was just scary.

Speaker B:

So, you know, so, yeah, it's a lot.

Speaker A:

That's a lot of people.

Speaker A:

And I don't like being in that flat of an environment with thousands of people because once, like, if something happens, then you trampled.

Speaker A:

There's, like, there's nowhere to go but under.

Speaker A:

I don't like that.

Speaker A:

You know what I mean?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I just don't like that feeling of just, like, not having, like, control over myself.

Speaker A:

Exactly.

Speaker A:

And so, yeah, that.

Speaker A:

That's my.

Speaker A:

That's my Riot Fest opinion.

Speaker A:

There's too many damn people.

Speaker A:

Just kidding.

Speaker A:

No, it was.

Speaker A:

It was fun.

Speaker A:

It was a good weekend.

Speaker A:

And, yeah, I'm ready to probably go away again soon.

Speaker A:

But it's okay.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

It's fall.

Speaker A:

September is almost over.

Speaker A:

It's spooky season.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker B:

It's officially fall.

Speaker A:

It's officially fall.

Speaker A:

I can put up.

Speaker A:

I can put up the Halloween decorations, but that's.

Speaker B:

I think we're gonna do that.

Speaker A:

Hopefully I have time to do that this weekend.

Speaker A:

I have a whole bunch of new skeleton animals.

Speaker A:

Anyhow, so this episode.

Speaker A:

Yeah, so.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Oh, in supernatural news land, there is a new Gilmore Girls documentary that has a Kickstarter starter out that Jared is going to participate in.

Speaker A:

I think they're just.

Speaker A:

Right now, they're just doing notifications.

Speaker A:

I'm sure it'll get funded and.

Speaker A:

But go follow that if you want to participate.

Speaker A:

I'm sure you can get all sorts of goodies if you back them.

Speaker A:

And also, Jared was also just cast in or agreed to sign a Netflix romantic comedy based on the book the Bodyguard with Leighton Meester and Meister Meester.

Speaker A:

Mr. Meister, I thought it was Easter, but no coral.

Speaker A:

No connection to the Whitney Houston Kevin Costner Bodyguard.

Speaker A:

Completely different story.

Speaker B:

Yeah, it was my first thought before I saw like the picture.

Speaker B:

When I just read that, I was like, wait, what?

Speaker B:

And then I saw the book cover and I was like, oh, that's definitely not that one.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

It's a different story.

Speaker A:

The Jared is the one who has.

Speaker A:

Or the.

Speaker A:

The male character is the one who has the bodyguard.

Speaker A:

And originally it was set on a ranch in Texas and I believe they're going to change it to a ranch in Montana.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure why.

Speaker B:

Annoying, but okay.

Speaker A:

But it might yo see, it seems.

Speaker B:

Weird since he's from Texas, you think.

Speaker A:

They would like, maybe he's just like too much Texas.

Speaker A:

After Walker, who knows?

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So that's the news right now.

Speaker A:

Everything.

Speaker A:

Jensen's world is still trucking along.

Speaker A:

He's season three of Tracker.

Speaker A:

They're talking about Countdown season two already.

Speaker A:

So let's talk about this episode.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker A:

And before that was season seven, episode 13, the slice girls, which was a good episode.

Speaker A:

I really liked that one.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

This was written by.

Speaker A:

So the credits for this are for John Bring and for Andrew Dab.

Speaker A:

So John Bring was actually one of those writers assistants on Supernatural who made his way up.

Speaker A:

So prior to working in that he'd been a PA on the shows Without a Trace and the New Adventures of Old Christine.

Speaker A:

Then he went on to co write this episode with Andrew Dabb.

Speaker A:

His most recent credits include writing for Kung Fu and Andrew Dab.

Speaker A:

I went backwards and I can tell you that the next episode we will see him do, it'll be in season 12, episode 18.

Speaker A:

Because I looked what instead of going backwards, I looked forward.

Speaker A:

So we can see him in episode eight.

Speaker B:

I'll see him next year.

Speaker A:

He will write again.

Speaker A:

So that is our, our production or the.

Speaker A:

The that production people.

Speaker A:

So we start off with a wrestling match in Brimson, Missouri where one of them may be drunk.

Speaker B:

Yes, Hangman Larry Lee might be drunk.

Speaker B:

And he is up against the electric Sean Harley.

Speaker B:

And this is like, this is that like there's an amateur wrestling level.

Speaker B:

I know this is considered.

Speaker B:

They're calling it like a pro tour level.

Speaker B:

But like there was.

Speaker B:

There's still like these pop ups of like amateur pro wrestling.

Speaker B:

I guess.

Speaker B:

I know that doesn't.

Speaker B:

That's oxymoronic.

Speaker B:

But it's also like that's what they call it and that's what this looks like.

Speaker B:

They're like in a VFW hall, basically wrestling.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

I mean there were other.

Speaker A:

You know, especially if you watch.

Speaker A:

We're not gonna get.

Speaker A:

We'll talk about the history of wrestling throughout this but if you.

Speaker A:

I would highly recommend going and watching the young Rock to learn about the original wrestling circuit.

Speaker A:

And Dark side of the Ring talks about a lot of this.

Speaker A:

So you know, there's circuit wrestlers who traveled around used to be a lot more popular than it is now, but there's still a thing.

Speaker B:

So yeah, I had a moment in time where I was a pretty big WCW fan and went to a couple of matches like traveled to go to a couple of things myself to go watch.

Speaker A:

So there we go.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we've got this wrestling match going and we are.

Speaker B:

Apparently the Hangman is winning and his thing is really gross where it's.

Speaker B:

They drop a noose down and he hangs his opponent.

Speaker A:

Yeah, that seems a little weird and extreme but that's his thing.

Speaker B:

And so like whoa, that's a.

Speaker B:

That's quite a signature move.

Speaker B:

This seems very unsafe and questionable in.

Speaker A:

A lot of ways.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And so the other guy almost dies.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So we cut and then you know, we cut from the wrestling match to the locker room and the guy who Harley that got hung, I don't know.

Speaker B:

Anyways he confronts the Hangman about almost killing him as you would and accuses the Hangman of being fucking drunk.

Speaker B:

Then they realize that a little bit we have a little time pass and the Hangman's alone in the locker room and his rope is missing and we see this other older wrestlers around and.

Speaker B:

Or I'm sorry I jumped ahead.

Speaker B:

The rope's missing and the Hangman later by himself in the locker room drinks from his flask.

Speaker B:

His noose appears and he gets hung.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

The Hangman gets hanged.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So it's super creepy and he did.

Speaker B:

Back at the bunker.

Speaker A:

Back in the bunker because that's where we at the library is table is once again covered in books and.

Speaker A:

But it seems like they keep reading the same books and learning nothing new.

Speaker A:

But I guess they're looking for kind of some different things now.

Speaker A:

But Sam needs some antacids and Dean just had.

Speaker A:

Wants to get the out of there.

Speaker A:

He's got a backpack and he's kind of ready to go.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he's like do you remember Top notch wrestling?

Speaker B:

Dad used to take us as kids and they remember that Hangman was their dad's favorite.

Speaker B:

So John really liked Hangman which also like just feeds into all this questionable.

Speaker B:

But anyways And.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, I want to go pay our respects at his funeral because hangman is dead.

Speaker A:

All we have been doing is mainlining lore, which is, you know, pretty much the state.

Speaker A:

My state of being half the time.

Speaker B:

Mainlining lore.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

I would say that's probably accurate.

Speaker B:

So Sam's like, we are kind of busy.

Speaker B:

I don't know about this.

Speaker B:

Needs, like.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

But we also have accomplished nothing.

Speaker B:

So let's go.

Speaker A:

And we burnt.

Speaker A:

We're burnt.

Speaker B:

We're burnt.

Speaker B:

And I just need to get out.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So they want to get out of the bunker.

Speaker A:

And then we go to the asylum where Cassifer is giving some very managerial advice to his minions.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

While Brazil by Damasco Perez Proto plays in the background.

Speaker B:

He is telling them, ABC Always be closing.

Speaker B:

Okay.

Speaker B:

But what they're looking for is another hand of God.

Speaker B:

Basically, that's what he's having them research and search for.

Speaker A:

And he's determined.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He's determined.

Speaker A:

That's a good idea.

Speaker A:

After the last thing.

Speaker A:

Oh, yes.

Speaker A:

This is what we can do with Amara.

Speaker A:

We need to find another one.

Speaker A:

One of these.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But we can to see that our fearless Crowley is cleaning the floor with a small brush.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Simmons, who we met in the last episode from as one of the demon minions, is, like, up Cassifer's butt.

Speaker B:

But Crowley is cleaning the floor with the doggy, as he gets called with his.

Speaker B:

With a toothbrush.

Speaker B:

And then I have questions about toothbrushes in hell, but we aren't going to go.

Speaker A:

Well, they're in the asylum.

Speaker A:

They're.

Speaker A:

They're so they're not in hell.

Speaker B:

You're right.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

And so Cassifer pets Crowley and takes the toothbrush away from him and tells him who to continue cleaning the floor.

Speaker A:

With his tongue while all the minions watch gleefully.

Speaker A:

But do the demons have taste again?

Speaker A:

Like, so confused about how they eat food and who doesn't sometimes.

Speaker A:

So maybe he can taste the floor, maybe he can't.

Speaker A:

We go from there to a.

Speaker A:

To the funeral home, and Dean is fanboying out, and he just starts naming all the wrestlers who Sam just thinks.

Speaker B:

Are all broken men when they are broken old men.

Speaker B:

But also, like, you gotta, like, keep the fanboy under control at a funeral, man.

Speaker A:

It is.

Speaker A:

It's a little inappropriate.

Speaker B:

Reel it in a little bit.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he is super stoked to meet Gunner Lawless.

Speaker A:

And he gets.

Speaker A:

Also gets a little too much joy telling him that his first B E was so he could watch his pay per View.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I don't think that's information you could just.

Speaker B:

Should just share openly.

Speaker A:

I mean, he.

Speaker A:

I was like.

Speaker A:

He was like, I think it's really cute.

Speaker A:

This was my first time that I committed a felony and it was all for you.

Speaker A:

Isn't that hilarious?

Speaker A:

And then Gunner's reaction is like, I don't know how to handle that information.

Speaker A:

Which is a.

Speaker A:

You know how we at all react, Right.

Speaker A:

Appropriate.

Speaker B:

But Sam notices a woman come by and apparently this is Rio, who used to manage Super Bob Sanchez.

Speaker B:

And he is going to flirt with her.

Speaker B:

And he.

Speaker B:

We figure out that he may or may not have had her poster above his bed.

Speaker A:

He doesn't really have a bed, so I'm not sure where that would have been.

Speaker A:

So is he just carrying it around from motel to motel and then like putting it up?

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

But she's no longer managing.

Speaker A:

But she's pretty much running the show, right?

Speaker A:

She's running behind the scenes.

Speaker A:

And lately though, she's just been seeing too many of her boys die.

Speaker A:

And also she can't believe that Hangman would just kill himself like this.

Speaker A:

This seems completely out of character when Sam's like, what now?

Speaker B:

Yeah, because no one knew how he had died.

Speaker B:

And this is now a shock.

Speaker B:

So we are now at the memorial wrestling match.

Speaker A:

Like you do.

Speaker A:

You have the memorial wrestling, you have the benefit, right?

Speaker A:

And Rio is there and she's there to introduce this match.

Speaker B:

And she looks great.

Speaker B:

She does.

Speaker B:

And.

Speaker B:

And they.

Speaker B:

And she's announcing.

Speaker B:

But as Sam and Dean look around, they're discussing that they, as children viewed top notch wrestling as such a much bigger deal and bigger production than it is at this point.

Speaker B:

So either you're.

Speaker A:

It's.

Speaker A:

We.

Speaker B:

They don't spell it out, but it's hinted at throughout this episode that this used to be a much larger production, probably a little bit more moneyed tour for wrestling than it is now.

Speaker B:

But also probably not that much.

Speaker B:

Probably still kind of not.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But as kids, everything looks more glamorous than it was.

Speaker A:

But then we get to see, you know, we.

Speaker A:

The wrestlers, you know, they aren't making any money.

Speaker A:

And then we get to see sort of a.

Speaker A:

A metaphor for John Winchester, I guess.

Speaker A:

A stand in, I guess.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

We see a dad and a kid squeeze by them and dad's like, hey, yeah, you know, the beer's cheap.

Speaker B:

The kids entertained parenting.

Speaker B:

Ah.

Speaker B:

And the guy has somebody.

Speaker B:

They're kind of like, gosh, yeah, it's.

Speaker A:

Kind of like all those people who had babies at Riot Fest.

Speaker A:

You brought a baby to Riot Fest?

Speaker A:

So that happens.

Speaker A:

Rio, then Comes and she introduces Hellraiser her backstage.

Speaker A:

Someone comes by and gives Gunner something while Harley is watching.

Speaker B:

It looks like a slip of paper, but who knows what it is.

Speaker B:

And Gunner does his big entrance and apparently his thing is he always gives a glove to a kid.

Speaker B:

And Dean is acting like a child and wants the glove.

Speaker B:

And it's very cute and sad.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

There is a delay where Dean tries to get this glove from the kid.

Speaker B:

Oh no.

Speaker A:

The kid does not give it to.

Speaker B:

Him good as he should.

Speaker B:

So we get the match and we've got Gunner is getting his ass with a chair.

Speaker A:

You lucky bastard.

Speaker A:

Or at least the person gets a hit in with the chairs.

Speaker A:

A lucky bastard.

Speaker B:

You don't want to get hit with a chair.

Speaker B:

You just want to hit the chair.

Speaker B:

And finally he gets himself all pumped up and he pins the Hellraiser.

Speaker B:

And right then we see our.

Speaker B:

The dad of this kid leaves to go to the bathroom.

Speaker B:

There's a long line because he's lazy.

Speaker A:

Because it's a wrestlers match.

Speaker A:

So therefore the line to the men's room is always going to be much longer than the line to the women's room.

Speaker A:

This is one of those few times.

Speaker A:

And all the guys are going to be like isn't that hilarious?

Speaker A:

And they're going to point it out and we'll be like no, we're just really glad we don't have to wait for a line to the bathroom.

Speaker A:

But this guy is like well I guess I'm also a dude.

Speaker A:

So I can just go pee outside like the wolf that I am.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So he does that.

Speaker B:

I'm sorry, this is supernatural.

Speaker A:

I didn't say that he's not actually a wolf.

Speaker A:

That's just.

Speaker A:

That's also.

Speaker B:

That's true.

Speaker B:

To be clear, he is not a wolf.

Speaker B:

Yes, that is a good call to clarify.

Speaker B:

So he goes outside to pee and as he's about to pee he we something sneaks up on him and we get blood splatter.

Speaker B:

He does.

Speaker A:

He's bloodied.

Speaker A:

Likely stabbed.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So we cut to the cops are there with this poor kid who was just trying to watch a wrestling match and got a cool glove.

Speaker B:

And now his dad's dead.

Speaker B:

What the fuck?

Speaker A:

Yeah, this is his.

Speaker A:

This is a super villain origin story.

Speaker B:

For real.

Speaker B:

And Sam's gotten info from the cops.

Speaker B:

But basically they say that this some kind of killing must have been ritualistic because the marks on the body.

Speaker A:

And Dean wants to know if it was Edward Scissorhands.

Speaker A:

And I want to know what you know about wrestling.

Speaker A:

So we're going to ask you some questions about wrestling, but, you know, things that I find interesting about it.

Speaker A:

So things that probably have nothing actually to do with wrestling in a game we're calling Liz asked Diana questions about wrestling.

Speaker A:

So question number one.

Speaker A:

When he finally evolved from being a mute character, the now politician and Mayor Kane, AKA Glenn Thomas Jacobs, used what amazing phrase.

Speaker A:

A, you can take the candy, but you can't get the cane.

Speaker A:

B, your mama.

Speaker A:

C, can you hear me now?

Speaker A:

Or D, suck it.

Speaker B:

To their A or C?

Speaker B:

Shit, I think it's C. Actually, it's.

Speaker A:

D. He said suck it.

Speaker A:

Those were the first things that he said.

Speaker A:

Oh, such, such.

Speaker A:

Such bars.

Speaker A:

All right, number two.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Which rock band tried to enter the world of professional wrestling and failed miserably?

Speaker A:

Was it A, the Rolling Stones?

Speaker A:

B, Insane Clown Posse, C, Kiss, or D, guarantee?

Speaker B:

I mean, I know for a fact it's Insane Clown Posse.

Speaker A:

See, actually, you're wrong, because technically it's Kiss as Insane Clown Posse has done pretty well for itself in the wrestling world.

Speaker A:

They've done a ton of pay per view and they created the Juggler championship wrestling match and have just done a lot of stuff like they're Juggalos and wrestling.

Speaker B:

I know they're in the wrestling world.

Speaker B:

I just didn't realize.

Speaker A:

Who is not meant for wrestling is Kiss.

Speaker A:

And they tried to do, like, a mini concert.

Speaker A:

And it was the lowest rating the weekly show on Monday night Nitro had ever seen.

Speaker A:

They were gonna put in, like, all these, like, KISS army people, but the licensing was just gonna cost too much.

Speaker A:

So it was complete and utter failure.

Speaker A:

And the person who brought it to them was eventually fired.

Speaker A:

And, yeah, so.

Speaker B:

Damn it, you're right.

Speaker B:

So I.

Speaker B:

My nuance there.

Speaker B:

I missed is.

Speaker B:

I know.

Speaker B:

Incline in st. Cloudlessly did it.

Speaker A:

6.

Speaker B:

Successfully failed was the key term.

Speaker B:

I missed, damn it.

Speaker A:

All right, number three.

Speaker A:

The legendary Andre the Giant once cleared out an elevator by a repeating.

Speaker A:

You keep using that word.

Speaker A:

I don't think it means what you think it means.

Speaker A:

B, when he stepped on the elevator, began swaying from his weight.

Speaker A:

See, he kept trying to wrestle anyone who would step inside or die.

Speaker A:

He was farting really loudly.

Speaker B:

I believe it's D. It is.

Speaker A:

So according to another wrestler who was traveling with Andre to Tokyo after a grueling flight, they were irritated at the number of stops the packed elevator was making.

Speaker A:

Andre reaches over and gives me a little tap on my shoulder.

Speaker A:

Dibiase, he says.

Speaker A:

I looked up at him and he winked.

Speaker A:

I said, okay.

Speaker A:

Something's gonna happen here.

Speaker A:

Well, buddy, the next Thing you heard was the loudest, longest fart I have ever heard in my life.

Speaker A:

While dibiase admitted that he felt embarrassed and shocked, for the people who experienced it, Andre's plan worked and everyone stormed out of the elevator at the next stop.

Speaker A:

Okay, number four.

Speaker A:

To kind of honor wrestling's root in the carnival freak shows.

Speaker A:

During WWE's the Attitude Era, the oddities were formed.

Speaker A:

Which of these were not a member of the oddities?

Speaker A:

A, George the Animal Steel, famous for his green tongue and turnbuckle eating antics.

Speaker A:

B, real life conjoined twins Violet and Daisy C. Kurgan, an imposing seven foot Frenchman.

Speaker A:

D, Luna Vachon, known for her unpredictable and intense Persona.

Speaker B:

I think it's B. I don't think they had an actual.

Speaker A:

That is correct.

Speaker A:

Violet and Daisy were from Todd Browning's Freaks.

Speaker A:

Luna just has a new.

Speaker A:

There's a new documentary coming out about her that was just in the Calgary Film Festival.

Speaker A:

That looks really good.

Speaker A:

All right, your final question.

Speaker A:

What is the stage name of the wrestler who ended up stabbing somebody 20 times with a pair of scissors?

Speaker A:

Was it A, Edward Scissorhands, B, Sid Vicious, C, the Juice, or D, Kate?

Speaker B:

Was it?

Speaker B:

I don't know.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna go with.

Speaker B:

I'm gonna go with C as a guess.

Speaker A:

No, it was.

Speaker A:

That's really funny because the Juice, I just made that up because of O.J.

Speaker A:

simpson.

Speaker A:

So it is.

Speaker A:

It was B, Sid.

Speaker B:

I was like, I couldn't see that.

Speaker A:

It was Sid Vicious.

Speaker A:

All right, and because I almost said that one.

Speaker A:

Okay.

Speaker A:

And because we love a good fight story here on Devil Strap podcasts, here quickly is the Sid Vicious versus Ard Anderson story.

Speaker A:

This is mainly from the JP Zarka article on Pro Wrestling Stories dot com.

Speaker A:

All right, so it's:

Speaker A:

So one of the things that was kind of like top notch here, right?

Speaker A:

Was touring in England and according to Big Van Vader, he said if I was to get asked on the stand and testify, I would blame that one on the company.

Speaker A:

Because we flew over there, eight or nine hour flight, got off the plane, traveled about two and three half hours off the bus, on a bus, then got off and wrestled.

Speaker A:

So they got done with that and now they were drinking beer and then they were out of food and everybody just kept drinking.

Speaker A:

And they were also.

Speaker A:

I heard people doing pills too.

Speaker A:

I don't know what.

Speaker A:

That's the 90s.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

And then he said, I remember it was Sid Vicious and Arn Anderson, myself and a couple of other guys sitting at this table.

Speaker A:

We were Finishing up a beer while everyone else was checking in.

Speaker A:

I remember getting up and saying to the guys, I'm going to bed.

Speaker A:

Apparently, Sid and Arn had squared off after I left.

Speaker A:

So this now is according to Sid.

Speaker A:

Sid Vicious the wrestler, not the.

Speaker A:

The dead punk rocker.

Speaker B:

Okay?

Speaker A:

He says, right.

Speaker A:

I will tell you exactly what happened.

Speaker A:

We were in a bar and I was just waiting for food.

Speaker A:

We were all at a table drinking, and Arn asked the question, what's wrong with our business?

Speaker A:

Why aren't we drawing the other company this, the other company that?

Speaker A:

The other company being, you know, the other wrestling one that was successful.

Speaker B:

Wwf.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And so.

Speaker A:

And so Sid said that.

Speaker A:

He said that, you want to know what's wrong with our business?

Speaker A:

We have an old man and Ric Flair who needs to get out of the way.

Speaker A:

So he starts talking about Ric Flair.

Speaker A:

We then get into a.

Speaker B:

You can't do that.

Speaker A:

We get into a verbal argument.

Speaker A:

And they were slinging beers in my face at the bar.

Speaker A:

As I was going to my room, Arn and a bunch of the other guys were in the hallway and he broke a beer bottle and threatened to cut me.

Speaker A:

My room was only a few doors down from his.

Speaker A:

So this is where some decisions maybe aren't great.

Speaker A:

So I passed his room, took a left and went into my room about four doors down.

Speaker A:

Good decision.

Speaker A:

I got in there and I just wasn't going to sleep.

Speaker A:

Real nice.

Speaker A:

I wanted to go back to the bar, but I went into my room.

Speaker A:

Good decision.

Speaker A:

A part of my sandwich.

Speaker A:

I said to myself, man, this guy, I have a bad temper, too.

Speaker A:

This guy threw a beer in my face and now he's threatening me with a broken beer bottle.

Speaker A:

You know, you have to draw a line.

Speaker A:

So this is where bad decision happens.

Speaker A:

There was this chair sitting right there, so I broke a leg off of it and was going to go whack him in the head a couple of times.

Speaker A:

Huh?

Speaker A:

When I got back down there, there's nobody in the doorway or the hallway and his door was shut.

Speaker A:

So I knocked on his door and said, come on out here.

Speaker A:

Bring your beer bottle.

Speaker A:

Some words were exchanged.

Speaker A:

I couldn't totally hear him, but I heard him falling down and stumbling around.

Speaker A:

And I thought, ah, he's messed up.

Speaker A:

And I went to my hand and thought to myself, this is stupid.

Speaker A:

So I threw the thing.

Speaker A:

He says, you can look at the records the police had the sticky set I hit him with.

Speaker A:

Never touched him.

Speaker A:

It was 20ft in the opposite direction from where the fight happened.

Speaker A:

And that stick had not one drop of blood.

Speaker A:

Not one dip in it like he'd been hit or anything.

Speaker A:

So arm comes out, and I had left, turned my back, saw his door open, turned around, and he's standing there with a pair of scissors in his hands.

Speaker A:

And I just went like this with them.

Speaker A:

I said, man, this has gone too far.

Speaker A:

And he's coming after me.

Speaker A:

And he says, I don't remember getting stabbed in the beginning.

Speaker A:

There were two doors in the corridor, and he backed me up there.

Speaker A:

I had nowhere to run when he came into me.

Speaker A:

And I got.

Speaker A:

And got close.

Speaker A:

I think I hit him one time, and he fell down at my feet.

Speaker A:

When he did, I looked at him, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw the scissors fall.

Speaker A:

They were falling out of my stomach.

Speaker A:

I have a scar right there.

Speaker A:

So when I saw the scissors falling out, I realized I had been stabbed.

Speaker A:

I didn't feel it in my face or hands, but he launched back for them a second time, but my feet got them first.

Speaker A:

And then.

Speaker A:

I don't know, it happened so fast.

Speaker A:

I think at this point I heard him say, man, you're killing me, or something like that.

Speaker A:

I think I had the scissors in my hands.

Speaker A:

I looked down, I saw him, and I'm like, he's messed up.

Speaker A:

Blood came gushing out of my stomach, and I realized I'd been stabbed.

Speaker A:

I was scared to death.

Speaker A:

I had all white on.

Speaker A:

So I went down the hallway, and then it kind of goes off.

Speaker B:

Terrible fashion choice.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker B:

So basically, he got stabbed once and then he grabbed the scissors.

Speaker A:

Yeah, we'll see what the count is.

Speaker A:

So he goes to the hospital, and so he's like, the police or whatever you call them, the law enforcement over there.

Speaker A:

Oh, honey, the bobbies.

Speaker A:

So they came into my room trying to get me to press charges against him.

Speaker A:

I said, no, man, I'm not going to press charges against him.

Speaker A:

We both made mistakes.

Speaker A:

I don't know how bad he's really hurt.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

And they're like, your friend hasn't got one scratch on him.

Speaker A:

And he was like, I'm already having exploratory surgery.

Speaker A:

I've got stabs in my face.

Speaker A:

And he's like, well, I guess if he doesn't have a scratch, I'm gonna press charges.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

But later that night, the nurse came in and told him that his friend was really messed up.

Speaker A:

So he dropped the charges.

Speaker A:

And he said, of all the people in the world, Arn was the last person I would.

Speaker A:

Well, I wouldn't want to hurt anybody, but he would be the last person I wanted to hurt.

Speaker A:

He'd been a good to me person.

Speaker A:

I don't know what he might have said behind my back, but face to face he was always a gentleman.

Speaker A:

I can only assume he was like that at all times.

Speaker A:

And so later I asked what does Aaron say?

Speaker A:

And they said Arn was so messed up that he couldn't remember anything.

Speaker A:

So finally the story according to Richard Steinberg, the WC official who was lucky enough to be a marketing director and on this tour.

Speaker A:

So Richard, I received a phone call in my room about 2:30am saying there was a major incident and I was getting in the lobby asap.

Speaker A:

I told them to call the tour director or the head of security but I was told he could not be found.

Speaker A:

I got dressed and grabbed the elevator down to the first floor.

Speaker A:

Blood was everywhere all over the hotel walls leading down the corridor to the lobby.

Speaker A:

I passed it in arms rooms which were across the hall from each other.

Speaker A:

Both doors were open.

Speaker A:

Lots of blood and smashed furniture everywhere.

Speaker A:

So you know, instead of saying this thing was in the hall and they just kind of like Abby was that.

Speaker A:

But this kind of says maybe there's a little bit more than this.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And Richard goes on to say that he saw Sid lying on the floor bleeding from several wounds.

Speaker A:

I immediately covered two of Sid's wounds with my hands to try and stop the bleeding.

Speaker A:

I asked for the ambulance, told it was on the way.

Speaker A:

He didn't know about Arnold.

Speaker A:

And so he said he got in the ambulance with Sid.

Speaker A:

He was crying all the way to the hospital saying he didn't want to die.

Speaker A:

Alternatively, he was telling me that he had messed up his big chance to be WCW World Champion but was most mostly moaning that he didn't want to die.

Speaker A:

Here is this huge cry, crying like a baby.

Speaker A:

And so he's like making fun of this guy for like crying after he got stabbed a bunch of times.

Speaker B:

Yeehaw.

Speaker A:

So they take him to the hospital and then he, he gets told the whole story.

Speaker A:

He ends up using.

Speaker A:

They end up, you know, dealing with all the back and forth.

Speaker A:

They tell them what they want them to put them on different planes.

Speaker A:

You know, coming back to the hotel.

Speaker A:

They had to increase the limit on his company Visa card in order to pay the bill at the hotel.

Speaker A:

And then he got back to Atlanta and found out that a hotel employee had stolen his credit card number and made like more charges on that account to.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So I mean yeah, so that happened to that dude.

Speaker A:

And then so he ends up sending them to different airports and so Arne Anderson sustained 20 stab wounds to the chest and stomach, while Sid Vicious endured four stab wounds in their brutal scissors fight.

Speaker A:

So those are scissors.

Speaker A:

There's 20 stabs with.

Speaker A:

That's a launch.

Speaker A:

That's a lot of stabbing.

Speaker A:

Both men spent the night in the hospital and were deported back to the US the following day.

Speaker A:

Despite the incident's severity, no police charges were filed.

Speaker A:

In the aftermath, WCW president Eric Bischoff fired Sid after multiple threat wrestlers threatened to walk out if he remained with the company.

Speaker A:

Arn Anderson, meanwhile, received only a suspension.

Speaker A:

However, in time, Sid did apologize to Anderson for stabbing him 20 times.

Speaker A:

And the two were reportedly on good terms when Sid path away on 8-20-20.

Speaker A:

,:

Speaker B:

Yeah, wild.

Speaker A:

Wild.

Speaker B:

A lot of stab.

Speaker A:

That's a long time to be stabbing somebody that is.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you got.

Speaker B:

Anyways, yeah, yeah, that's a lot.

Speaker B:

That's a lot.

Speaker A:

But luckily they both lived, and so wrestling is wild.

Speaker B:

That's good.

Speaker A:

All right, so, yeah, Sam is gonna go do some research and Dean is gonna go shake some trees.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So we've got Dean by the ring, and he is ready to call out and find someone to ask questions of, but there's no one there.

Speaker B:

So he is going to get some solo ring time because that's what Dean needs to do.

Speaker B:

He needs to jump around a wrestling ring.

Speaker A:

And it's because he is a little boy, Dean.

Speaker B:

But he gets into.

Speaker B:

He gets interrupted.

Speaker A:

He does.

Speaker B:

Yes, he.

Speaker B:

He does get interrupted by Rio and falls, which is funny.

Speaker B:

But he does introduce himself as name.

Speaker B:

You've been saying more than I have.

Speaker A:

So I'll let you say Andre the Giant's real name.

Speaker A:

So, Agent Rosamoff.

Speaker A:

Is that how you pronounce it?

Speaker A:

I know he's French, so when he was farting also, that was a French fart.

Speaker A:

Oh, he really liked his wine and his cheese from what I remember.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, that had to be nasty.

Speaker B:

I feel like there's a lot of great, like, sound effect potential in this one between Andre the Giant quotes and you made a Ric Flair reference.

Speaker B:

And I just want to go, you know, Juggalo references.

Speaker B:

That's a whoop, whoop, whoop.

Speaker B:

I mean, we got like.

Speaker B:

It's a sound effect.

Speaker B:

We should have sound effects.

Speaker A:

We can have Dave drop in some sound effects.

Speaker A:

And this is.

Speaker A:

If I only had my production board with my little button, which I know I'm not allowed to have.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So he says.

Speaker A:

So he.

Speaker A:

The sea's like, oh, I'm a fed.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So the body dropped and now I'm back on the clock.

Speaker A:

And Ria was pretty much okay with this.

Speaker A:

They were also okay.

Speaker B:

Well.

Speaker A:

Crashing the.

Speaker A:

The funeral.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I mean, yeah.

Speaker B:

They were pretty chill about it all.

Speaker B:

So she's like, yeah.

Speaker B:

Ever since.

Speaker B:

I'm wondering if our tours cursed.

Speaker B:

We've been finding a body every stop.

Speaker B:

Which is.

Speaker B:

Which would be concerning.

Speaker A:

They said they found the curse.

Speaker A:

You know, they found a body in Shreveport.

Speaker A:

Which I'm like, is that.

Speaker A:

That surprising?

Speaker A:

But Dean then goes on to say that he wants a list of crew.

Speaker A:

And she's like, but we only really paid locals for everything.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

It's the talent here.

Speaker A:

But is a talent who wins.

Speaker A:

And they're.

Speaker A:

They're all getting hammered.

Speaker A:

And like, they do.

Speaker A:

They're at the nearest bar.

Speaker A:

And that's where she's going.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So we cut back to the asylum and we have.

Speaker B:

Simmons is now visiting Crowley the doggo.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Doggy Crowley.

Speaker A:

And they tell us Crowley.

Speaker A:

That he's still got friends.

Speaker A:

He's not a dog.

Speaker A:

He's Crowley.

Speaker A:

The devil should be afraid of him.

Speaker A:

He's Crowley.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

She's gonna break him out.

Speaker B:

Let's go.

Speaker B:

And he hesitates a little bit because he doesn't trust.

Speaker B:

So back at the.

Speaker B:

Dean has goes to the bar to meet up with the wrestlers.

Speaker B:

That's where he's gonna go because this is how he's gonna get intact.

Speaker A:

And there is a chicken dancing on the pool table.

Speaker B:

On the pool table?

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

You don't ruin the pool table if you do that.

Speaker A:

But also, she looks like she does not want to be up there.

Speaker A:

And I do.

Speaker A:

Like, did you make this for extra?

Speaker A:

I get up on the pool.

Speaker A:

The pool table.

Speaker A:

And she's like, I don't want to do that.

Speaker B:

Somebody did.

Speaker B:

Somebody thought that would be cool.

Speaker B:

Very uncomfortable dancing here.

Speaker B:

She's like, am I ruining the felt like she's asking that in her head.

Speaker A:

She feels bad.

Speaker B:

So Dean gets to go sit next to Gunner, who he likes a lot, and do a shot with him.

Speaker B:

And they're gonna chat.

Speaker B:

And then whatever they're talking about, keep grinding.

Speaker B:

Dean's like, you're awesome.

Speaker B:

And Gunner's like, tell that to my ex wives.

Speaker A:

And these are my scars.

Speaker A:

Take off your shirts.

Speaker A:

Take off your shirts.

Speaker A:

And they don't.

Speaker A:

But then we see.

Speaker A:

Learn that the 400 pound Jonah rancid dropped.

Speaker A:

Jumped on Gunner's hands.

Speaker A:

And now he can't.

Speaker A:

That is like the thought that his name is Rancid.

Speaker B:

Those fingers.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

So, yeah, he can't be.

Speaker A:

His fingers are up and they're.

Speaker A:

They're both up.

Speaker A:

And then they cheers over Gunner being.

Speaker B:

And then Sam calls, and Sam calls and he's like, by the way, Dean, every stop on the tour, someone's died.

Speaker B:

And it always looked like accidents, but there's this symbol there, so.

Speaker B:

Also, the hangman's an open case, not necessarily a suicide.

Speaker B:

Wait, so the cops have described it as some weird satanic crap.

Speaker A:

Yes.

Speaker A:

Yay.

Speaker A:

Satanic panic.

Speaker A:

And essentially, depending on what small town you're in, that could go in a number of different ways.

Speaker A:

Ways.

Speaker A:

But Sam has determined that the symbol is Agent Sumerian and it has the power to pluck the spark of life.

Speaker A:

So maybe souls.

Speaker A:

A soul plucker.

Speaker A:

I like a soul plucker.

Speaker B:

Soul plucker.

Speaker A:

You plucky.

Speaker A:

Soul plucker.

Speaker A:

And so is it a demon?

Speaker A:

Is a demon.

Speaker A:

One of the wrestlers.

Speaker A:

And we don't know what's going on.

Speaker A:

But in the middle of that, then Sean starts calling.

Speaker A:

I. I went from Harley to Sean.

Speaker A:

Sorry, my notes.

Speaker A:

So Harley is yelling badly for their waitress.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Harley's been a douchebag to the bartenders.

Speaker B:

I think how I wrote it.

Speaker B:

So, yes, that.

Speaker B:

And Gunner's like, oh, you're done.

Speaker B:

You're too drunk.

Speaker B:

And Harley's like, brag.

Speaker B:

You know, you.

Speaker B:

Whatever.

Speaker B:

We're getting something.

Speaker B:

You know, you got me, you know, kicked off the card in Fort Worth.

Speaker B:

And he's like.

Speaker B:

Anyways, they're just.

Speaker B:

They're mad at each other.

Speaker B:

And Harley thinks that Gunner's jealous of Harley stealing his thunder and punching.

Speaker A:

He takes a cheap shot and just, like, decks him.

Speaker A:

Rio, of course, being the woman, steps in because that's what we do.

Speaker A:

Why are we getting the middle of these two giant men?

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

Rio, get the fuck out of there.

Speaker A:

But.

Speaker A:

So Harley is like, but I saw him.

Speaker A:

He's a dealer and he's a junkie.

Speaker A:

And everyone's like, what?

Speaker B:

Yeah, I saw his dealer.

Speaker B:

He's a junkie.

Speaker B:

And she's like, harley, you need to go sleep at all if you're wasted.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

And Gunner just.

Speaker B:

And Gunner never fought back.

Speaker B:

And he was like.

Speaker B:

He's kind of just like the very, like, the stoic one of the group.

Speaker B:

And he's like, this is.

Speaker B:

He's like, I just got nothing to prove.

Speaker B:

And Dean's like, let's do shots.

Speaker B:

But he doses Gunner's shot with holy water.

Speaker A:

But it's not Gunner.

Speaker B:

Nope.

Speaker B:

So Dean's gonna order a whole lot of more shots and dose them all with.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

This is his solution to determine who the Dean the demon is.

Speaker A:

Is.

Speaker A:

We're just gonna do.

Speaker B:

Terrible plan.

Speaker A:

New shots with everybody.

Speaker A:

And if somebody burns.

Speaker A:

But how do you know who's burning from tequila and who's burning from holy water?

Speaker A:

Are those a different burn?

Speaker B:

I mean, I would hope that it's pretty obvious.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

I've made some faces when I've burned myself with.

Speaker A:

Once I've got tequila.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

So then we go back to the asylum where Crowley is fighting his way out.

Speaker A:

Because he's Crowley.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And he kills two demons in a doorway after he plays all week.

Speaker B:

It's crazy.

Speaker B:

Pretty.

Speaker B:

Pretty impressive.

Speaker B:

And Simmons is with him.

Speaker B:

But Sam has now arrived at the bar, and it is well past closing time.

Speaker B:

And finds Dean asleep on a bench after all the chairs are put up and everything just dropping.

Speaker A:

Andre the Giants, like, everywhere.

Speaker A:

Just farting away.

Speaker A:

See, you can have another fart.

Speaker A:

Sounds there.

Speaker A:

So he may have found his match, though, in these wrestlers.

Speaker A:

Because these guys all live on the road like he.

Speaker B:

Like he does.

Speaker A:

And they all, like, 7 foot tall and 400 pounds.

Speaker A:

So his liver has been screaming.

Speaker A:

And he got everybody to drink a shot except for Harley.

Speaker B:

Correct.

Speaker B:

And Dan is on the struggle bus.

Speaker B:

So they are gonna go to Harley's hotel to find if he's there.

Speaker B:

But his room has been flipped, and this is not a good sign.

Speaker B:

So.

Speaker B:

Beanie, it is outside of.

Speaker B:

Yeah, so that's what we're going with.

Speaker B:

So now Crowley and Simmons are no longer at the asylum.

Speaker B:

They exit the.

Speaker B:

They've exited the Black Rose.

Speaker B:

And Crowley is now all cleaned up, dressed up and ready to go.

Speaker B:

He looks like Crowley again.

Speaker B:

And he's gonna go find the ace up his sleeve because apparently he has a plan.

Speaker A:

He has a plan.

Speaker A:

And we go from there back to the motel.

Speaker A:

Dean's trying some emf.

Speaker A:

Sam has gotten into the security cam footage.

Speaker A:

And they can now see that Harley was.

Speaker A:

Was kidnapped by Gunner.

Speaker A:

By Gunner.

Speaker B:

What?

Speaker B:

And they're like, well, if Harley's a demon, how did Gunner sneak up on him?

Speaker B:

So now.

Speaker B:

Now it's even more confusing because Gunner's not a demon.

Speaker B:

They know.

Speaker B:

And Harley's probably not a demon either.

Speaker B:

So we cut to Harley tied to a chair and bloodied, while Gunner stands aside drinking a beer.

Speaker B:

I guess he really drinks a lot.

Speaker A:

Jesus.

Speaker B:

And Harley's apologizing for being a dick and taking a cheap shot earlier, which is nice of him to do.

Speaker A:

Yeah, he is.

Speaker A:

And he begs not to be hurt because he's a And he was just like, you know, like, I was so big and tough.

Speaker A:

And now I'm like, please don't hurt.

Speaker A:

Hurt me, Mr. Big Gunner.

Speaker A:

And.

Speaker A:

But while Gunners are drinking beer, we do see that Gunner may not be a demon, but the Gunner knows a demon.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And this guy is Demon, who there is introduced as a new best friend.

Speaker B:

Shows his red eyes.

Speaker A:

We never get his name.

Speaker A:

He's just the demon from my nose for the rest of this.

Speaker A:

So that's great.

Speaker A:

And the boys seem to have found them.

Speaker A:

I don't know whether my notes.

Speaker B:

They know that this van has gone to the back to where the match was earlier.

Speaker B:

So they go back to that.

Speaker A:

And the demon wants Harley's soul.

Speaker A:

We go back over there and offers him glory and fame, gumdrops and G strings, which I do appreciate literation.

Speaker A:

That's gross.

Speaker A:

But he also wants him to get.

Speaker A:

Get some service, right?

Speaker A:

Like, give him some service.

Speaker A:

So the kill somebody kind.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that's pretty extreme.

Speaker B:

This is not just like, oh, so give me your soul.

Speaker B:

Give me your soul and you can have some chicks and a belt.

Speaker B:

Yay.

Speaker B:

It's, give me your soul, you can have chicks and a belt.

Speaker B:

And also, I'm going to ask you to kill someone.

Speaker B:

Like, that's not big.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

He has taken the crossroads demon contract up a notch.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

But Harley has also determined that he gives a speech.

Speaker A:

He's like, man, if you're a demon, that means there's a heaven.

Speaker A:

That means there's a hell, and that means there's a heaven.

Speaker A:

So I up and selling my soul, like, no, I'm gonna get into paradise.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

No.

Speaker B:

Yeah, that.

Speaker B:

So I'm not gonna do this.

Speaker B:

And I also don't need you to win a belt.

Speaker B:

I'll do it on my own, man.

Speaker B:

And so.

Speaker B:

So our demon is going to throw him on the ground and hold a knife to him, own his Achilles tendon.

Speaker A:

This is the worst.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Because he's.

Speaker B:

Because that'll prevent him from ever wrestling again.

Speaker B:

So now it's not just a crossroads demon deal.

Speaker B:

It's not just a bad deal.

Speaker B:

It's blackmail.

Speaker B:

Essentially.

Speaker A:

He's being sorted into.

Speaker A:

Into this.

Speaker A:

And nope, nope, nope, nope.

Speaker A:

And then the demon wants Gunner to.

Speaker A:

To cut the.

Speaker A:

Cut the.

Speaker A:

You know, to do it.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

And we go from there and we go to a store room, which is drool, drool, Drool.

Speaker A:

Crowley's personal lockup.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And he is very excited to move the books off of this.

Speaker B:

This big wooden box.

Speaker A:

And they're inside the supernatural books scattered throughout this entire storage unit.

Speaker B:

That's amazing.

Speaker B:

Apparently, inside this box, he is storing the rod.

Speaker A:

I've already started giggling.

Speaker A:

He's got Aaron's rod.

Speaker B:

He does.

Speaker B:

Which is a hand of God.

Speaker A:

It is a hand.

Speaker A:

Aaron's rod and a God.

Speaker A:

No, we're just all going there.

Speaker A:

All right.

Speaker A:

Because we already got.

Speaker B:

We.

Speaker A:

This is really us.

Speaker A:

It's getting phallic in here, so.

Speaker B:

It does.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It's because Crowley tells Simmons that he doesn't think that you can handle my rod, but Cassifer can.

Speaker A:

And he comes in and does say that it's getting a little phallic in here, which is the title of my next album.

Speaker A:

So we go from there back to wrestling.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And Sam and Dean see Gunner standing over Harley.

Speaker B:

But the demon, our demon, is still there.

Speaker B:

And he flings them away in Crowley storage area.

Speaker B:

Cassifer is just amused that Crowley would have believed that anybody would have double crossed or that he.

Speaker B:

That Crowley thought he could get away with double crossing Casper because.

Speaker B:

And that Simmons hates Crowley because.

Speaker B:

And that Lucifer invented the double cross quote.

Speaker A:

Like, like literally, like, literally invented it.

Speaker A:

And so.

Speaker A:

And maybe he was once the evilist who ever evil, but now he's no longer anything but Dean Winchester's number one fan.

Speaker A:

But this also kind of like David Simmons.

Speaker A:

Like, you little backstabbing demon, you.

Speaker A:

You can't trust a demon.

Speaker A:

Who can you trust?

Speaker B:

No, who can you trust?

Speaker B:

Well, speaking of.

Speaker B:

There's a demon is talking to Sam and Dean.

Speaker A:

He's saying some stuff about like Dean being.

Speaker A:

He was expecting a California 10, but he got a Kansas 5.

Speaker B:

Burn.

Speaker B:

Burn.

Speaker B:

And he's gonna say more, but.

Speaker B:

But Sam's like, I. I don't really care.

Speaker B:

And Gunner is going to attack Dean while Sam fights this.

Speaker B:

Tries to fight the demon dude.

Speaker B:

Back in the storage, Casper's talking about how he saw that last little bit of defiance in Crowley.

Speaker B:

And so he set this whole plan up to let Crowley lead him to this instead of just beating the Defiance.

Speaker A:

Out of him, which seems like a reasonable plan.

Speaker A:

And Cassifer is just going to take the rod and torture Crow some more.

Speaker A:

But unfortunately, the box.

Speaker A:

Well, for depending on.

Speaker A:

For whose sake, the box is empty.

Speaker B:

Because Crowley already has the rod.

Speaker B:

Yes, he does.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

And he smacks.

Speaker A:

He smacks Cassifer with it.

Speaker A:

And he was like.

Speaker A:

He was like, you couldn't double cross me.

Speaker A:

I perfected the double cross, like literally.

Speaker B:

And then he starts glowing from the rod because the hand of God thingy, kind of like what?

Speaker A:

I just said her name.

Speaker A:

Said her name.

Speaker A:

Simone.

Speaker A:

Whatever.

Speaker A:

Delphine.

Speaker A:

Delphine.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So he's glowing like that.

Speaker B:

And he's like, well, if it can hurt the Darkness, what could it do to you?

Speaker B:

And he blasts Cassifer and he's thrown to the ground.

Speaker B:

And Simmons is gone.

Speaker A:

Simmons jumps in front of Lucifer to take.

Speaker A:

To take the main brunt.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

So I think that if.

Speaker A:

If they hadn't done that, then maybe.

Speaker A:

I don't.

Speaker A:

I'm not sure.

Speaker A:

So Cassifer is probably not out.

Speaker A:

Down for the count.

Speaker A:

So we're gonna go back to wrestling.

Speaker A:

See what I did there?

Speaker A:

And there, Dean is getting tied up.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

And Dean's telling Gunner that he knows all about demons and hell.

Speaker B:

And Gunner admits that he sold his soul for a shot at a belt 10 years ago.

Speaker B:

But he ended up at the.

Speaker B:

We hear the story that he only ends up having that title for like, a week because he was desperate and dumb.

Speaker B:

And Dean says it's never too late.

Speaker A:

To do the right.

Speaker A:

And so this is even worse.

Speaker A:

So Gunner, like, not only is he, like, killing people from his demon, but he didn't even get his G strings and gumdrops or longer than a week.

Speaker A:

Like, that's up.

Speaker A:

No wonder he drinks so much.

Speaker B:

And now he's just gotta do this horrible thing.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

It's terrible.

Speaker B:

Terrible.

Speaker B:

So back at the storage, Casper has gotten up and Crowley tries to blast him again.

Speaker B:

And we have learned that this appears to once again be another.

Speaker A:

The rod kicks.

Speaker A:

You use it once.

Speaker A:

You can't.

Speaker A:

These hands of God are just one little fingers.

Speaker B:

One, one, and done.

Speaker A:

So they're just like the middle finger of the hand.

Speaker A:

And so Lucifer, though, is not dead.

Speaker A:

And he's bleeding his own blood.

Speaker B:

And throws Crowley.

Speaker A:

And Crowley promptly gets the out of there.

Speaker A:

Which is the smartest thing to do.

Speaker B:

Yes.

Speaker B:

So Sam is asking this demon in the wrestling ring if.

Speaker B:

If Crowley knows that he's doing this.

Speaker B:

And this is interesting timing because the demon's like Crowley is Lucifer's boy, which is why I'm doing this.

Speaker B:

And I realized at this point that Sam and Dean don't really know what's going on with the Crowley Lucifer, such.

Speaker B:

So this is news to them.

Speaker B:

This is critical news as well.

Speaker B:

And he said, you know, the darkness is out, the devil is running hell, so it's every demon for himself.

Speaker B:

So I'm setting myself up best I can.

Speaker B:

I told Gunner, you're either gonna be a Hellhound Chow or you're gonna collect souls for me, period.

Speaker A:

Well, I mean, so he did get at least this choice of not getting eaten by the Hellhounds.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

And so that's what Dean shows up.

Speaker A:

And he gets flung.

Speaker B:

He gets flung.

Speaker B:

But it's enough of a distraction that Gunner comes around and kills the demon.

Speaker A:

And he is redeemed.

Speaker A:

Or at least he tries to be, because he hears puppies.

Speaker A:

And our hellhounds have shown up.

Speaker A:

See, now we can have dogs barking.

Speaker A:

And they have showed up.

Speaker A:

And everybody is happy to see the puppies.

Speaker A:

And they all just have a big pile.

Speaker A:

And the puppies lick them, right?

Speaker B:

I don't think so, but I do love a puppy pile.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

So Dean tries to give Gunner a gun to protect himself, but he's like.

Speaker A:

That'S not to protect himself.

Speaker A:

That was to kill himself.

Speaker B:

Well, to kill himself.

Speaker A:

Yeah, but just give him a way out.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker B:

And give him a way out.

Speaker B:

And he said, but he's like, no, I've got this coming.

Speaker B:

Sorry, I'll take it.

Speaker A:

Yep.

Speaker A:

So he.

Speaker A:

He takes his punishment.

Speaker A:

He hugs puppies.

Speaker A:

And I presume when the puppies break in, they just lick him.

Speaker A:

And so we go from there to.

Speaker A:

After the puppy party ends.

Speaker A:

And we go back to the bumper.

Speaker A:

Bump.

Speaker A:

Bumper.

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker A:

The bumper.

Speaker A:

They are talking about bad decisions and choices and their consequences.

Speaker A:

This is a point.

Speaker A:

Also 15's okay, listen to our podcast and make some sort of summary about how they contemplate the moral implications of bad choices and tell you, like, we're like.

Speaker A:

And then he farted.

Speaker A:

Okay, so.

Speaker A:

But seriously.

Speaker A:

And then Dean starts quoting Gunner back.

Speaker B:

Well, I like that.

Speaker B:

I do.

Speaker B:

Like, at the start of this conversation, Sam asks if Dean's okay.

Speaker B:

And Dean says, not even a little bit.

Speaker A:

Good answer.

Speaker A:

You're sharing.

Speaker A:

You're sharing.

Speaker A:

Dean.

Speaker A:

Proud of you.

Speaker B:

But.

Speaker B:

But yes, Dean does quote Gunner with, keep grinding.

Speaker A:

No matter how much it hurts, no matter how hard it gets, you gotta keep grinding.

Speaker A:

And now, like, I feel like some.

Speaker A:

Some terrible meme is coming out of that, and there's going to be.

Speaker A:

So something just goes grind.

Speaker B:

But then they gotta save Castiel.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

Yeah, Save Castiel.

Speaker B:

We're gonna kill the devil and shank the darkness.

Speaker A:

We're gonna win.

Speaker A:

And anyone that gets in our way, God help them.

Speaker A:

Damn straight.

Speaker A:

Dean Winchester, that is.

Speaker A:

There's a good way to go.

Speaker A:

All right, so before we talk about our final feelings about Dean Winchester and this, I assume you have some wrestlers to tell us.

Speaker B:

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker A:

Casting couch is the casting couch.

Speaker A:

Were they on that show that time with that guy?

Speaker B:

We got quite a list.

Speaker B:

So our cast is pretty big on this one.

Speaker B:

We've got Gunner Lawless was played by Alex Ponovic and he's actually in multiple episodes of Supernatural.

Speaker B:

He's actually done quite a bit of stunt work as well.

Speaker B:

Not a ton, but some.

Speaker B:

And then he's been in episodes of Battlestar Galactica, Human Target, Smallville, Once Upon a Time, Hell on Wheels, Zoo, Arrow, Sea, Fire country and Reacher.

Speaker B:

He was Bob in the movie I Spy Karate dad in this Means War.

Speaker B:

He was a reoccurring character named Julian and I Zombie.

Speaker B:

He was a recurring character named Julius in Van Helsing and he is Brahman Boskovich in Snowpiercer as a reoccurring character.

Speaker B:

Rio played by Jackie Debiton has been in episodes of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, JAG, ER Friends, 7th Heaven, that 70s show, two and a Half Men, Veronica Mars, Nip Tuck, Mentalist, the Office, Castle, Days Of Our Lives, Law and Order, svu, Anti Zombie.

Speaker B:

Sean Harley is also Mike the Miz Mizamin and so he is a a wrestler on WC, WWE, ECW and WrestleMania.

Speaker B:

He has had other small acting roles and things like that 90s show done interestingly some voice work and cartoons and then played himself in the movie the Campaign.

Speaker B:

All right, our demon apparently had a name Duke but they never never say in the episode so it's annoying.

Speaker B:

So I just wrote Demon and his played by Aiden Khan.

Speaker B:

He was a reoccurring character in Izombie and has also been seen in X Files, Van Helsing and Law and Order.

Speaker B:

The dad of the kid that gets killed his Boyd Ferguson episodes of Pete Outside Dad I Zombie Resident alien and plays a pirate in the newer Peter Pan and Wend Disney movie Hellraiser is played by Paul Lazenby.

Speaker A:

Good, good try.

Speaker B:

He actually is yeah, Lazenby.

Speaker B:

I think he's done actually a ton of stunt work more so than he has of acting actually.

Speaker B:

He did stunts in X2, butterfly effect, iRobot, Catwoman, Lord of the Rings.

Speaker A:

The.

Speaker B:

Last Stand, Twilight, Breaking Dawn, Night at the Museum, multiple of those Deadpool 1 and 2 and a ton of TV including Supernatural.

Speaker B:

He's done stuff mark on.

Speaker B:

He's been seen as an actor in episodes of Smallville V, Human Target, Hellcats, Fringe, Arrow, Izombie, Once Upon a Time, Lucifer, Wayward Pines, Flash, Riverdale, Peacemaker, Resident Alien and Superman and Lois.

Speaker B:

Also has had a role in Butterfly Effect, White Chicks, Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol.

Speaker B:

He had a small visible role in Deadpool 1 and 2 and was also had a role in Guard as a guard in Maze Runner.

Speaker B:

A lot of his roles are tend to be like Guard which makes Sense for a stunt worker, but pretty cool to be in that.

Speaker B:

Many have double credits.

Speaker B:

And then Larry the Hangman Lee was played by Travis Waters and has been in the WCW and represented that one.

Speaker A:

One thing that you may have missed, we did get a Cliff Klosterman sighting in this one.

Speaker A:

He briefly appeared as Wrecking Ball Calhoun at the Hangman's funeral.

Speaker A:

And we can remember him as Tiny from Folsom.

Speaker A:

And he also played another character.

Speaker B:

But I did.

Speaker A:

I just love Chuck Cliff.

Speaker A:

I don't want to say Chuck, but.

Speaker A:

Because of Chuck.

Speaker A:

Yeah, you know why I said it.

Speaker A:

But anyhow, so, yeah, that was a great cast.

Speaker A:

And I mean, they, they, they.

Speaker A:

The casting was really great.

Speaker A:

I think for this, obviously you had to cast some actual wrestlers, but beyond that, I think, you know, everybody was just a lot of fun as much they could.

Speaker B:

I mean, I mean, even the darkness of the gunner.

Speaker B:

Yeah, the darkness of the gunner portion, that's really the only dark.

Speaker A:

Dark.

Speaker B:

The dark S in this one.

Speaker B:

So weirdly, there we go.

Speaker B:

That's the darkest component, I would say.

Speaker B:

But, like, otherwise it was fairly fun as an episode.

Speaker B:

I mean, it was a little sad, like, washed up wrestling kind of vibe.

Speaker B:

But, like, there's also a fun side to it because I think that some of this.

Speaker B:

I think, like, wrestling, like, this falls into like, a subculture of like.

Speaker B:

And I think that that's fun.

Speaker B:

That's me.

Speaker A:

That's also there is the fun part, right.

Speaker A:

Where we can identify with the subculture of wrestling, which also, you know, did really come from freak shows and other things.

Speaker A:

But also Dean is such.

Speaker A:

Is so happy, like he gets his little kid on.

Speaker A:

So I think that also adds just kind of a lightness to it because you already have.

Speaker A:

And, and at least this time when Dean is having this flashback to this experience they had as children.

Speaker A:

And we do see from the perspective of Jason, his dad, that it's not a.

Speaker A:

It's not pretty.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

Like, it's still really dark that your dad took you to a wrestling match so he'd get wasted and yell at things, but at the same time say, at least this isn't the time where Sam goes.

Speaker A:

Well, I remember during that wrestling match and you, like, left me, like, hanging up by my toenails in a motel room.

Speaker A:

Right, Right.

Speaker A:

At least this time Sam had sort of similar good feels about it, but just wasn't as intense.

Speaker A:

So.

Speaker A:

But I think like, Dean's attitude and we get some childhood nostalgia in there that was, for once, wasn't just John Winchester being a, you know, I think adds to that.

Speaker A:

And, you know, there was no dark.

Speaker A:

There was no literal darkness in this.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

And I do think that, you know, it's interesting, finally, I think that seeing the progression of the Castifer and Crowley stuff is.

Speaker B:

Is an important side story going on here that probably is probably a larger driver of the entire season than.

Speaker A:

Than.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

That the season arc.

Speaker B:

Then.

Speaker B:

Then the wrestling side story was for us, but it was kind of the side story, which is kind of fun.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

But we also get the.

Speaker A:

The good moral thing of the.

Speaker A:

Keep grinding, right?

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

Just keep fighting.

Speaker A:

And I think this gave Dean a little bit of a.

Speaker A:

A boost.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

A little.

Speaker A:

A little bounce in his step, even though, like, it got sad for him at the end because he had to.

Speaker A:

Like, he also didn't seem that bum to watch Gunner die.

Speaker A:

I don't know.

Speaker A:

He.

Speaker A:

They just kind of were like, okay, bye.

Speaker A:

Like, yep, you sold your soul.

Speaker B:

Well, you kind of resigned too.

Speaker B:

Like, there is no escaping it.

Speaker B:

It is what it is.

Speaker B:

What do you do?

Speaker A:

I mean, they're the Winchesters.

Speaker A:

You can figure this.

Speaker A:

Go talk to Crowley.

Speaker A:

I don't know, but.

Speaker A:

And so, you know, like, I. I feel like they could have saved Gunner if they really wanted to, but I was.

Speaker A:

I get the gutter.

Speaker A:

Like, accepted.

Speaker A:

Accepted responsibility for his actions too.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker B:

I think that was important.

Speaker A:

It was important growth.

Speaker A:

Right.

Speaker A:

It was important.

Speaker A:

But anyhow.

Speaker A:

So any other thoughts on this?

Speaker A:

Nope.

Speaker B:

I enjoyed this one.

Speaker A:

Okay, cool.

Speaker A:

So not a bummer.

Speaker A:

And on that note.

Speaker B:

Not a bummer.

Speaker A:

So on that note, Cheers shirt.

Speaker B:

Cheers.
