Transcripts

00:00:08 Shreya: welcome to the podcast, a space for honest, inward conversations about who we are and who we are becoming. I'm your host, Shreya, and today I'm joined by someone whose path has taken her from the front lines of medicine to the frontlines of the soul. Be a nurse practitioner, a combat veteran, intuitive healer and spiritual teacher whose work bridges science and spirit, weaving together astrology, ancestral healing, and embodiment to help women in midlife reclaim their vitality and step into their sacred purpose. So welcome, Bea. I'm honored, and I'm so glad to have you on my show.

00:00:50 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes. Thank you so much. It's such a pleasure to be here.

00:00:54 Shreya: Thank you so much. And before we just begin, a quick disclaimer for my listeners. Some statements reflect personal belief and experiences and are presented as individual views, not medical advice. Listeners should consult qualified professionals for medical conditions and with that, be.

00:01:13 Shreya: Before we go into all of it, your journey has taken such a remarkable arc from a combat deployment to a master's degree to a spiritual teacher. I imagine there were moments along the way where you couldn't have predicted where you would end up. So was there a turning point, a moment where you stopped surviving and started actually asking deeper questions?

00:01:39 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes. Great question. As you alluded to, it was a very winding journey. But as I've learned in healing, that's just it, right? It's it's not a destination. It truly is a journey. And for me, the moment that changed it all was when I found out that I was pregnant with my son. I had been struggling for so many years at that point with post-traumatic stress. After coming back home from a combat zone and really just trying to find my purpose in life, and when I found out I was pregnant, it sort of hit me just like a ton of bricks. As they say that the healing journey was no longer then about me. I was carrying a new life inside of me, and I did not want him to have to fight so hard for his healing. So it became this journey of unraveling ancestral patterns and this deep knowing that everything I had done up until that point was really a part of this process, and I had signed up for a lifetime to be this person that really breaks the generational curses in my family.

00:02:55 Shreya: Thank you for sharing this. And one of the topics you brought to this conversation is safety in healing. And I think that phrase alone stops a lot of people in their tracks, because we don't often hear it framed that way. So, uh, most healing spaces talk about courage or breakthrough or transformation, but you lead with safety. What are we missing when we leave that out?

00:03:22 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, that's a wonderful question, and something that I really learned along the way in my own journey is that I had spent so many hours in traditional healing modalities, like talk therapy and traditional Western psychiatry and Western medicine. And for me, at the time, the place I was in my journey, these things were just not helping. Something was missing. And what I later came to understand was, you know, the talk therapy, these things were not helping at the time because my body, my nervous system was still stuck in fight or flight. And as I deepened into my studies about this, I learned that really healing cannot happen until we have the neural pathways in the brain that allow for safety. It's a it's a physiological process, a biological process. And that is a piece that I think is really missing in the traditional Western model. You know, until we have some of those at least glimmers of safety in the body, we cannot really sit in that deep healing.

00:04:36 Shreya: And from your background as a nurse practitioner, uh, someone trained in clinical care, how does what you know about the body and nervous system inform the way you hold space for people in spiritual or energetic work?

00:04:51 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, yes. I think you mentioned it beautifully in the beginning. You know, this deep understanding that there is a place to hold both the scientific knowledge and the deep spiritual knowing. And more and more we are seeing where science is finally catching up to these things that ancient traditions have known for years. And really, what's missing from the traditional Western medicine model of healing is that, well, several things. Everyone is really cure focused, right? Everyone just wants a quick fix. Everyone just wants a pill to remove the disease or the ailment. But when we look at more holistic whole person care, we start to understand that nothing exists in isolation. So how can we only look at, on the scientific level, one system of the body, when we understand that all is energy, all is frequency. So dis ease in any one part of the body is a whole system problem. It's not just, you know, oh, a cardiac problem or a brain problem, and especially in mental health care. I think this is a big gap where we're looking from a top down approach. We're looking and treating trauma as if it's a brain problem, but it's not a brain problem. It's not a mindset problem. It's not something you can, you know, think positively and remove from your life. It's something that has to be embodied through that safety and in our system.

00:06:33 Shreya: Mhm. Yeah. Like what I'm hearing is that healing without safety isn't healing. It's endurance. And I think there is a real difference between the two. The body knows the difference. Even when the mind tries to push through. And let's look at where some of this begins. Uh, you work with ancestral healing, which is a concept that resonates deeply for many people but is also something people are not quite sure how to enter. So when you talk about inherited patterns that keep us stuck, what does that actually look like in someone's daily life? What are we carrying that we might not even recognize as inherited?

00:07:15 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, that's a great question. It is something unfamiliar for many people, and perhaps people have heard it spoken of even in the scientific realm as like epigenetics. Um, but this idea that we come in carrying patterns that are not ours, and what we mean when we say this is that, you know, say, for example, grandmother or mother suffered a lot of abuse or neglect, but they didn't understand how to really fully love these patterns get passed down, whether it's, you know, you can look at it through the lens of past lives or even through the lens of epigenetics. Maybe certain genes were turned on with that trauma. And for many of us, when we're still unaware, when we're not really ready to look at it, these patterns live in the subconscious below the surface. And so maybe we are acting in a way where we can't fully express love. Maybe we feel some disconnection in, you know, from our children, from our partner, and we're not really sure why. And it's not until we start to become aware of the patternings that we can start to work with it and truly transmute it. And, you know, one amazing tool that I use as sort of a tracking tool for pinpointing these ancestral patterns is through the lens of astrology. You know, looking at Each person's astrology chart as part of their evolutionary journey. And I firmly believe in my soul that we do come in from past lives. And so we are carrying things. Our soul has imprints of many, many lifetimes. And until we actually consciously look at it, some of these patterns still remain beneath the surface, so to speak.

00:09:20 Shreya: And is is there a way in your experience that astrology becomes a lens for seeing those patterns? And like, how does a birth chart speak to ancestral lineage, if at all?

00:09:34 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Well, there's many different placements in the astrology, right? We have the different planets we look at. We have Pluto, which by some theories represents soul wounding. We have the moon, which in some traditions represents the mother. So there's many, many different places in the astrological makeup that we can really look and start to understand and unpack some of these patterns. We're also looking at points in the sky called the North Node of the moon, Rahu and Ketu. Also, as they're known, the North Node, indicating, you know, where the soul is really trying to get to in this lifetime. And the South Node indicating the places where we're still trying to integrate, not that we're trying to get away from, but perhaps the lessons that we've already learned and now we're trying to integrate. So there's many, many places in the birth chart that these patterns can sort of reveal themselves. But, you know, I always say I don't necessarily give readings, right? It's more like counsel. It's talking to people and saying, you know, this is what appears to be coming through in the birth chart, but how has this shown up? How has this played out in your life? And time and time again, you sort of see women in this space have like an aha moment where the light bulb in their brain goes off and it's like, okay, I've always just thought that, you know who I was as a person. And once they have this awareness, then we can start to really transmute these patterns.

00:11:21 Shreya: I find that so compelling, like the idea that the chart is not just a snapshot, a snapshot of you, but potentially a map of something much longer than your own lifetime. Um, that we arrive already shaped by so much, which naturally raises the question, uh, what does releasing those patterns actually look like.

00:11:47 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, for many people, it's, you know, who are really stuck along their journey, who just feel very disconnected from themselves from, from source, from a higher purpose. It can be hard to envision life any other way. But what I have found with myself and the women that I work with, is when we really start to deepen into our self-awareness, we can heal. We can embody this version of ourselves that is truly living out our soul's highest intention, highest purpose for this lifetime. And that feeling is almost ineffable, right? When we're just in alignment on a soul level, there are no questions in life. We're not questioning our choices and what should we be doing? Things just begin to flow. And we find this, this universal alignment where there's a deep knowing that we are divinely supported and divinely guided. And again, you know, that that feels so far out of reach for many people who find themselves stuck or seeking their purpose. But when we really begin that healing journey, that's the other side of it, right? And of course, it's ongoing. We're always discovering more and more about ourselves and our patterning. But when we can step into that alignment, life just becomes this beautiful, amazing process. It's like we're not fighting it. We're here to really enjoy the journey and embody this idea that, yes, we're human beings, but we're having a deeply spiritual experience on this earthly realm.

00:13:37 Shreya: And Uh, your work specifically serves women in midlife, which is such a rich and often underexplored season of life. There is so much cultural noise around what midlife is supposed to look like, and a lot of it isn't very kind. Uh, what do you find is actually happening for women in that chapter? Beneath the surface, in the soul that that, uh, is not being named enough.

00:14:06 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, There are, you know, and when I speak of midlife, I don't want to narrow it down to an age because I think that's a little unfair. In my mind, midlife is that point where transitions start to happen. And so for many women, that's between the ages of thirty all the way through the sixties, really. But there are significant astrological transits that occur during these periods. And each of these transits really, really speaks to the soul trying to get back to that place of divine purpose. So it's essentially a remembering. You know, we, it's been labeled like midlife crisis. You hear about the, the woman who maybe goes and has some affair with another person or the man that goes out and buys a sports car. But it's like the soul is really at this period of life wanting to come into full alignment. And so there are several distinct transits astrologically that happen during this period. And it's really about individuation and finding our authenticity. And what I mean by authenticity is finding our unique purpose in this life, because we all have a very unique light, a very unique gift that we're meant to be sharing with the world. And it starts to become this urgency in mid life. Right. And that's why so many women in this period of life feel disconnected from their careers or the life that they built that they thought, you know, it looks great on paper. They've got the career, the children, the husband, but there's this longing inside their soul, this feeling of, okay, what's next? What's next? And so that's what I really mean when we speak about midlife.

00:16:05 Shreya: Yeah. I think there is something so true in that. And, uh, you hold a really unique space. Uh, you are someone with formal medical training and clinical experience who also works with astrology, embodiment, and spiritual practice. Not everyone works that bridge. So what do you say to someone who's drawn to the spiritual dimensions of healing, but has to been taught, uh, to distrust anything that can't be quantified.

00:16:38 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes. I think that's so many of us. You know, even for myself, it was part of my healing journey. Was that remembering because I came from this background, you know, first the military, which is very black and white thinking and then medical training, again, very black and white. We're looking at clinical data and research. And, you know, sometimes I would know things about a patient, but I couldn't say how I knew it. Right? There's no lab value or anything to back it up. And so for people that are sort of in that space and, and grew up very logical minded, there is a place for both, right? Intuition is our inherent nature. But again, we can't fully access that, that place within us until we have some safety in the body. But what I really love about this current time that we're living in is the way that science is really catching up to some of these more metaphysical concepts, right? There's studies about quantum physics and the energy field and the way that the heart puts out resonance. Science is catching up to many of these concepts. And the way that information is so readily available in this age of air. I truly believe that more and more of these concepts will be validated eventually by more scientific means. So there's absolutely a place for both. You know, it's not it's not black and white. It can very much be this place of this. And yes, I believe in the science and I understand the spiritual component of it as well, because nothing exists in isolation. Right? We're we're multidimensional beings. So I think that it could only be science or only be spirit would be doing a disservice to those on the healing journey.

00:18:45 Shreya: Yeah, I love that. Like that, there is an entry point that doesn't require someone to abandon what they already know, just to remain curious, uh, to, to let the map get a little bigger. And here is something I want to name. Honestly, uh, for a lot of people, healing work, especially ancestral work, can start things off before it settles. There can be grief, uh, disorientation, even a sense of loss, losing ground. Uh, so how do you help someone stay with that? What do you tell them when the process feels like it is undoing them more than restoring them?

00:19:26 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, that's a very, very valid question because I think in the healing journey, there is this deep period. And you you named it. I like the the word grief and grief is so much a part of the healing journey. There's a lot we find to grieve. You know, we're grieving the life that we thought we were supposed to be creating. We're grieving what we never received as a child. But what I have come to deeply understand is that grief is an expression of love. If we have something to grieve so deeply for, that means there's an equal amount of love. And so working through that as part of the healing process and many, I've heard many different healers call it sort of that dark night of the soul. But it's a process that is often necessary to that healing journey. Sometimes we have to go through and we have to look at these shadow places because again, nothing exists in isolation, right? We can't have this deepest expression of love without going through the grief, the anger, all of these different stages. It's all just a polarity. And so yes, it can feel, you know, disorienting at times unsettling. And that's again, where the safety and the body really comes into play. You know, having some tools, having a mentor or a teacher, someone to really be able to guide you through that period is so key. For me, that was an essential part of my healing journey. I had a mentor who was so amazing, so knowledgeable. And it's, it's just invaluable to have someone to hold your hand through that sacred process because it really is part of that deep healing work. And thank you so much for naming that.

00:21:26 Shreya: I think, um that that last you said I, I, I want to let it land for a moment and uh, this one is for the listener who, who has been, uh, sitting with something for a long time. Maybe they have felt the pull toward healing, but haven't known it if it was safe or if they deserved it or if it was even real. Um, what would you want them to hear right now?

00:21:54 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yeah, I think many of us find ourselves there sometimes in that dark place. And you know, the message I always want to put out is there is hope. I have been in those very deeply dark places. And if you can just endure, find the right community, the right support life on the other side of that is it's beautiful beyond imagination. So there is hope.

00:22:27 Shreya: That's amazing. And thank you for sharing this with my audience. And if there is one thing I'm carrying from this conversation is that you don't begin healing when everything is finally safe. You begin healing when you finally decide you are worth the safety. And we thank you for sharing so much of your insight, your knowledge, your experiences with us. And if after this, my listeners want to connect with you and want to know more about your work, about the astrology, about healing path, where can they find you and continue this journey with you?

00:23:00 Brandi (Bee) Doyle : Yes, absolutely. I am on Instagram at double Libra coaching and my website is double Libra astrology dot com.

00:23:14 Shreya: Yes. And I will definitely make sure to attach all these details and links below so that the listeners can find them easily and get in touch with you. And thank you again for your honesty about your own path, for the way you hold your clinical knowledge and your spiritual knowing together without apology. And I think that integration is very rare and it's really beautiful. And to all my listeners, it's something in today's conversation caught on something inside you. I hope you sit with that, that catch that's worth paying attention to. If this episode's meant something to you, share it with someone in your life who is already and ready for a deeper conversation.
