Lesson Summary:
This week, we leave the Book of Mosiah and the mighty legacies of King Mosiah 2 and Alma the Elder. First, we’ll see a peaceful transition of power from a monarchy to a system of judges. Then, we’ll study how contention and pride threaten to overthrow the new government, resulting in a bloody civil war. Alma the Younger will push back against those forces, first on the battlefield and then again by stepping away from power to teach truth directly to the people.
Questions to Consider:
Alma 1:29 | What does it mean for a church to be “steady?” How is it a blessing in our day?
Alma 3:4 | What types of marks do we put on ourselves to show that we want to be distinguished from the believers - or be more accepted in the world?
Alma 4:19 | What is pure testimony? When have you heard pure testimony? Did you recognize it because of what it caused to happen?
