That font of poetry

that is your own soul will

Speaker:

forever be giving you these

metaphors to help you understand

Speaker:

who you are, why you're here,

Speaker:

and why you chose to come

be here in this existence.

Speaker:

Hello and welcome back to

Remember Why You're Here,

Speaker:

a podcast for seekers

Speaker:

and sensitives where you can

relax, receive, reconnect

Speaker:

to yourself, and remember that

most important thing of all,

Speaker:

why you're here.

Speaker:

I'm Asia Suler, author,

earth intuitive teacher.

Speaker:

In this episode today, we're

going to talk about something

Speaker:

that I just love.

Speaker:

It's just one of these things

that I love talking about,

Speaker:

and that is the metaphor of your soul.

Speaker:

So in this episode, we're going

to talk about how to connect

Speaker:

to your own soul, you know,

why we can tend to miss some

Speaker:

of our soul's communications,

Speaker:

the way in which our soul

communicates with us,

Speaker:

and we're going to learn how to read the

Speaker:

language of our souls.

Speaker:

You're going to learn how to

communicate with your own soul,

Speaker:

your own wider self.

Speaker:

So before we get started, I

just want to take a moment

Speaker:

to thank everyone who has

joined me over on Substack,

Speaker:

the Remember Why You Are Here Substack.

Speaker:

It has been really special

to dive into that space there

Speaker:

to get to know some of you there.

Speaker:

to Remember Why You're

Here over on Substack,

Speaker:

and I'll place that link here in the show

Speaker:

notes if you're interested.

Speaker:

Okay, so let's, let's get

into our episode for today.

Speaker:

First, let's talk about what

I mean when I say the word

Speaker:

soul, because this is

one of those poetic words

Speaker:

that people use in a

lot of different ways.

Speaker:

So here's how I define soul.

Speaker:

I define soul as our own wider self.

Speaker:

Some people like the term higher self.

Speaker:

I like the term wider self

Speaker:

because it's something we're a part of.

Speaker:

Our soul is the essential

essence of who we are,

Speaker:

the wider light from which we come.

Speaker:

Our soul is its own individual entity

Speaker:

with its own qualities

and characteristics.

Speaker:

And our soul sends part of

itself to this lifetime,

Speaker:

to this place,

Speaker:

and this time to live

out an experience inside

Speaker:

of our bodies here on this planet.

Speaker:

So our soul's the part of us

that is beyond this lifetime

Speaker:

that encompasses all lifetimes

that is, you know, sort

Speaker:

of the truest essence of

who we are in, in connection

Speaker:

with our, our widest

self, our widest knowing.

Speaker:

So our soul is our, our

self with a capital S.

Speaker:

This is where we come from.

This is our ultimate guide.

Speaker:

This is something we're always

a part of. We never leave.

Speaker:

We can never depart from our own soul.

Speaker:

We are always connected to our own soul.

Speaker:

We are a part of our own soul.

Speaker:

And our soul is really like

the ultimate spirit guide in

Speaker:

this lifetime because your

soul knows why you came here,

Speaker:

you know, what you are planning to do.

Speaker:

Our souls can remind

us of why we are here,

Speaker:

which we all need reminding

of every once in a while.

Speaker:

So being able to be in communication

Speaker:

with your soul is really about being able

Speaker:

to be in communication with

your own widest knowing,

Speaker:

your own widest self, with

the part of you that sees

Speaker:

that big picture, that

knows innately who you are

Speaker:

and that trusts beyond, beyond all doubt

Speaker:

that you are loved absolutely

Speaker:

and unconditionally exactly as you are.

Speaker:

Your soul understands your destiny.

Speaker:

Your soul is holding all

of the blueprints for all

Speaker:

of the unfoldings that are

Speaker:

possible for you in this lifetime.

Speaker:

I just love this term soul to me.

Speaker:

I mean, literally it's so soulful.

Speaker:

And so I love this concept

of connecting with our soul

Speaker:

as a way to connect with this wider self.

Speaker:

So why do we sometimes

miscommunications from our soul?

Speaker:

So our soul is always

communicating with us.

Speaker:

We don't come to this planet

Speaker:

and then we're just like

without any guidance or help.

Speaker:

We never lose that connection to our soul.

Speaker:

It's impossible to actually

sever that connection.

Speaker:

And so we're constantly

receiving information,

Speaker:

communication, and support

from our soul, this wider part

Speaker:

of us that wants to help us

on our journey, wants to,

Speaker:

to help us, you know,

remember why we're here,

Speaker:

continue down the path.

Speaker:

Why do we sometimes miss these

communications if they're

Speaker:

happening all the time?

Speaker:

Well, this is why. Our soul

most often speaks in metaphor.

Speaker:

This is one reason why I'm

calling this podcast the

Speaker:

metaphor of your soul.

Speaker:

So our soul likes to speak

in what we call metaphor.

Speaker:

So just to define metaphor here

Speaker:

so we're all on the same

page, metaphor is a figure

Speaker:

of speech that compares

two different things

Speaker:

by saying one thing is actually the other

Speaker:

or actually like the other.

Speaker:

If you want to get technical

here with metaphor,

Speaker:

we don't typically use like

Speaker:

or as, that would be a simile,

but you get the picture.

Speaker:

Metaphor is comparing

one thing to another.

Speaker:

It is a way in language

Speaker:

to express a concept

Speaker:

that is inexpressible directly.

Speaker:

So, you know, if you gaze

into your child's eyes

Speaker:

and they're so beautiful, you

feel like you're whisked away

Speaker:

and be like, her eyes, like I

think about my, my child when,

Speaker:

when she had been recently born.

Speaker:

I was like, her, her eyes

are like as deep as lochs.

Speaker:

You know, her eyes are

like these deep water

Speaker:

lakes of Scotland.

Speaker:

Like I, I remember saying

that to someone like, oh,

Speaker:

her eyes, like they're as

deep as lochs, you know,

Speaker:

as deep as these lakes.

Speaker:

And, and so I'm using, in this instance,

Speaker:

this is technically a simile,

but stay with me here.

Speaker:

We're just using metaphor

as an overarching concept,

Speaker:

but we're, we're using

something to reference

Speaker:

and express something

that's inexpressible,

Speaker:

that's actually bigger than

direct words can fully capture.

Speaker:

And it's only through making connection

Speaker:

between those two things

Speaker:

or between those set of

things that we can start

Speaker:

to grasp the totality

of something that exists

Speaker:

beyond the grasp of our language.

Speaker:

And this is the language

that our soul speaks in.

Speaker:

This is the language that our

soul has to speak in. Why?

Speaker:

Because our soul remembers

and sees the big picture.

Speaker:

Our souls know, knows,

you know, your soul knows

Speaker:

who you've been in every

lifetime, understands

Speaker:

all the mysteries of

existence, all the mysteries

Speaker:

that we come here and purposely forget.

Speaker:

And so imagine you're being

that understands the widest view

Speaker:

of reality, all of life's mysteries

Speaker:

and mysteries of the universe,

Speaker:

and you're trying to

communicate to someone

Speaker:

who has a language, you know,

Speaker:

whether you're talking

about actual lizard,

Speaker:

literal spoken language

Speaker:

or just the language of that's

accessible in our brains,

Speaker:

you know, the language

of how we view things,

Speaker:

being in a body that is m-

much, much, much more limited.

Speaker:

How do you do this? How

do you express something

Speaker:

that is literally beyond in

some ways our, our ability

Speaker:

to grasp in this lifetime?

Speaker:

And that's for a purpose, right?

Speaker:

We come here, we place

the veil of forgetting on

Speaker:

so we forget who we are

and where we come from.

Speaker:

That's like part of the fun.

Speaker:

I'm doing some air quotes,

part of the fun of being here.

Speaker:

It's part of, it's part of the, the,

Speaker:

you know, it's part of the story.

Speaker:

It's part of the experience.

Speaker:

How do we then, how do we then

guide this part of ourselves?

Speaker:

How would our, how would a soul,

Speaker:

how would a wider self

guide then this part of us

Speaker:

that purposely is here

Speaker:

to be disconnected from that wider view?

Speaker:

Well, you have to speak in metaphor.

Speaker:

You have to speak in a way that

references, that helps that,

Speaker:

that person grasp the,

Speaker:

the bigger reality from

which you're communicating.

Speaker:

So our soul can communicate

with us in our dreams

Speaker:

through signs

Speaker:

and synchronicities, through

inner nudge, nudgings,

Speaker:

you know, gut feelings, intuitions,

Speaker:

things other people say to us.

Speaker:

But why we often miss it

is that we miss that the,

Speaker:

the language is one of metaphor,

Speaker:

that we're actually not looking for.

Speaker:

It's, that most often it's

not super direct messages.

Speaker:

Sometimes it can, this

can happen for people,

Speaker:

especially if you are, you

know, claircognizant, if

Speaker:

that's how you receive.

Speaker:

But for most people, the

soul speaks in metaphor.

Speaker:

And you know, one of the

things about metaphors is

Speaker:

that they capture layers of reality.

Speaker:

A metaphor can have

several meanings at once.

Speaker:

You know, for example, if I

talked about my daughter's eyes

Speaker:

and I said, you know,

they were dark and deep.

Speaker:

You're like, okay, dark and deep.

Speaker:

But if I say they're, they

were as dark and mysterious

Speaker:

and fathomless as a, a deep loch,

it's like there are layers

Speaker:

of meaning there, right?

Speaker:

There's, there's depth, there's

mystery, there's profundity.

Speaker:

There's, there's that edge of the unknown.

Speaker:

There's the connotations that

we have with the word loch,

Speaker:

especially if you're not Scottish.

Speaker:

You know, we think about

the Loch Ness monster.

Speaker:

Like we think about these like

deep mysteries of existence,

Speaker:

you know, like the, the complete unknown.

Speaker:

And so when I say that, I'm,

I'm like referencing a, a truth

Speaker:

and a reality that is so

much more vibrant and complex

Speaker:

and multilayered than

if I would just say her

Speaker:

eyes were dark and deep.

Speaker:

And so this is why our soul

likes to speak in metaphor

Speaker:

because it can hold

more layers of meaning.

Speaker:

And it's closer to the truth of

Speaker:

the reality from which

our soul is communicating,

Speaker:

which is this wider

reality that is beyond our

Speaker:

language's ability to

directly conceptually grasp.

Speaker:

Another really beautiful

thing about metaphors

Speaker:

and why I think it's our

soul's preferred method

Speaker:

of communication is the way

in which metaphors create

Speaker:

connection and create relationship.

Speaker:

Relationship is at the,

the most basic like level

Speaker:

of this reality of our planet.

Speaker:

We come here to experience having a self,

Speaker:

like an individuated self.

Speaker:

What an interesting concept.

Speaker:

And then through having the self be able

Speaker:

to encounter others in relationship.

Speaker:

It's a very creative process

of individuation, separation,

Speaker:

and then being able to relate.

Speaker:

How does this relationship work?

Speaker:

What happens in the in between?

Speaker:

And so because we come here on this planet

Speaker:

to have relationship, the

beautiful part of metaphor is

Speaker:

that it automatically creates connection.

Speaker:

It creates relationship.

It's comparing two things.

Speaker:

This is like this. Well, how

are these two things similar?

Speaker:

You know, if this is its own entity

Speaker:

and this is its own entity, well then

Speaker:

where do these two places meet?

Speaker:

It gets our brains started, starting

Speaker:

to think in the language of relationships

Speaker:

and connection, which is

really where all healing

Speaker:

and revelation and realization happen.

Speaker:

And just through deciding to

look more for the metaphor,

Speaker:

to, to embrace metaphor

more fully in your life,

Speaker:

you're coming into, to

deeper connection as well

Speaker:

with your own soul.

Speaker:

You're, you're developing and

deepening that relationship.

Speaker:

It's a very handy tool,

right, to describe the,

Speaker:

the indescribable.

Speaker:

And on, I think, maybe

perhaps the most poetic level

Speaker:

of why our soul likes to

speak a metaphor, it's

Speaker:

because we are living inside

Speaker:

of a metaphor on this planet.

Speaker:

If you think about it,

if you break it down,

Speaker:

if you think about this concept

of a metaphor as, you know,

Speaker:

sort of using language

Speaker:

and a construct to reference,

to compare it to something,

Speaker:

to reference something greater.

Speaker:

It's like a, a microcosm of the macrocosm.

Speaker:

Like, you know, you're

comparing these two things

Speaker:

so you can see the, the bigger whole.

Speaker:

Well, all of reality is, is a

metaphor for wider existence,

Speaker:

you know, the physical reality.

Speaker:

You know, this is all a

manifestation of a metaphor

Speaker:

for a wider existence that we

can't fully capture in words

Speaker:

and that we will never fully

know while we are embodied

Speaker:

and in this lifetime.

Speaker:

That's, you know, like I

said, it's part, that's part

Speaker:

of the fun, that's part of the experience.

Speaker:

And so leaning into metaphor

is also leaning into the

Speaker:

nature of reality.

Speaker:

All of your life is a

metaphor for the wider journey

Speaker:

of your soul, the wider journey

of your soul's own evolution

Speaker:

and expression.

Speaker:

So everything that also is

happening in your life is, is

Speaker:

referencing as well this wider journey

Speaker:

and this wider expression

Speaker:

and your soul's wider unfolding, which is

Speaker:

so much bigger than even just

this one individual lifetime.

Speaker:

So of course, our soul's going

to love to use metaphor for

Speaker:

that reason as well

Speaker:

because it helps attune us

to the metaphor of reality

Speaker:

and start to see even in sort

of what we might perceive

Speaker:

as the most simplistic

Speaker:

or, you know, direct aspects of reality

Speaker:

or mundane aspects of reality,

this reference to the spirit

Speaker:

of things, this reference to

the unseen, this reference

Speaker:

to something greater.

Speaker:

So this, as I said, can

come up in a lot of ways,

Speaker:

but I've been thinking

about this a lot recently

Speaker:

as I've been getting back into doing more

Speaker:

intuitive work, more

one-on-one intuitive work,

Speaker:

and really noticing how I've

always worked in images,

Speaker:

and you'll see

Speaker:

that throughout my monthly

intuitive readings,

Speaker:

but just how important the

metaphors of those images are

Speaker:

and that the deeper I go into

the metaphor that I'm given,

Speaker:

the more layers will unveil itself.

Speaker:

So here's just a little example.

Speaker:

I was giving a reading

for someone the other day,

Speaker:

and I was shown a waterfall.

Speaker:

And, you know, I could

be very straightforward.

Speaker:

I could be like, "Oh, are you.

Do you live by a waterfall?

Speaker:

Are you going to travel to

a waterfall?" And you know,

Speaker:

that those wouldn't be

like incorrect, right?

Speaker:

But I understand that the

soul speaks in metaphor.

Speaker:

And in, and in this reading,

I was specifically connecting

Speaker:

to this person's soul.

Speaker:

And so I understood that

this was a metaphor.

Speaker:

And because it was being

given to me, I also knew that,

Speaker:

that their soul was using a lexicon

Speaker:

or a dictionary of images

Speaker:

that would help me to make sense of that.

Speaker:

So for, for me, you know, I

think of waterfalls as times of,

Speaker:

you know, intensity

where time moves faster,

Speaker:

changes might happen kind of quickly

Speaker:

where there's like a big

shift from where you were to

Speaker:

where you're going.

Speaker:

It was time of like identity

change, like literally the,

Speaker:

a river's flowing and

the, the waterfall happens

Speaker:

and that's like a, that's

a, a rupture, a shift.

Speaker:

And so I was going through

all these layers of meaning

Speaker:

in my own life and in my own understanding

Speaker:

and then communicating that to her.

Speaker:

And it really stood out to me

Speaker:

how if I hadn't thought of the metaphor

Speaker:

of waterfalls

Speaker:

and what, how I know waterfalls,

what waterfalls evoke

Speaker:

inside of me, I would've really missed

Speaker:

some important messages for her

Speaker:

and for, you know,

Speaker:

the way in which her soul was

communicating to her about

Speaker:

what was going on in her life

right now, which was a lot

Speaker:

of change, which I didn't know about.

Speaker:

So how do you speak the

language of your soul then?

Speaker:

You know, how, how do you

start to speak the language

Speaker:

of your soul in this way?

Speaker:

Well, we, there is an

importance here, right,

Speaker:

in putting on our poet's cap,

to start viewing life from

Speaker:

this as if you were a poet.

Speaker:

You know, understanding that

we are all poets in this

Speaker:

existence and, and, and

really starting to, you know,

Speaker:

think about things metaphorically

to, you know, open up

Speaker:

to the, the creativity that

might be there, that expression.

Speaker:

Instead of going beyond just, you know,

Speaker:

the immediate direct response

and, and opening our mind.

Speaker:

There's a really beautiful saying

Speaker:

that a good poem is like a net.

Speaker:

What makes the poem is

not the, the rope itself,

Speaker:

but the space in between.

Speaker:

I've always loved this so much.

Speaker:

And so there's also this piece

of leaving space in between,

Speaker:

you know, when you receive,

maybe you receive a message

Speaker:

or you, you have a dream or

you experience a synchronicity

Speaker:

or sign in your life to give

it space, to breathe, to,

Speaker:

to understand that like

there, there's so much meaning

Speaker:

that can be relayed in just that one image

Speaker:

or just that one experience.

Speaker:

And so, you know, to, to realize

Speaker:

that we make the connections that we need

Speaker:

to make often when we

give ourselves that space.

Speaker:

So ways in which you

can give yourself space.

Speaker:

And then as I was talking

about with the waterfall image

Speaker:

that came to me in this reading, you know,

Speaker:

you developing your own

lexicon of, of images

Speaker:

and metaphors is going to be important.

Speaker:

You know, what does this mean for you?

Speaker:

Because, and I, I say this a

lot when I talk about dream

Speaker:

work, but I think it's

important in any intuitive work

Speaker:

and in connecting with our own souls.

Speaker:

Our souls, our wider self,

they're going to communicate

Speaker:

to us through our associations,

Speaker:

through our life experiences,

through, you know, the poetry

Speaker:

of what we have experienced.

Speaker:

And so notice what appears

to you again and again,

Speaker:

and what that means to you.

Speaker:

You know, what is your

association with waterfall?

Speaker:

You might have done that

reading differently.

Speaker:

Or if your own wider self gave

you that image, if you asked

Speaker:

for an image and you were given that image

Speaker:

or you asked a question

Speaker:

and you received that, you

Speaker:

know, what would that mean to you?

Speaker:

Maybe you did have a waterfall

in a park nearby growing up

Speaker:

and you had a formative

experience in that park,

Speaker:

and so it's going to

bring that up for you.

Speaker:

Your own wider self will use

that beautiful bank of wisdom

Speaker:

and knowledge to create

the most perfect metaphor.

Speaker:

Our souls are very creative in this way.

Speaker:

They love creating beautiful

metaphors for us to step into

Speaker:

and to unpack and to see the layers of.

Speaker:

So, you know, start to notice that.

Speaker:

Notice reoccurring themes in your dreams.

Speaker:

You know, what, what

shows up again and again?

Speaker:

And what is cool is that the more we start

Speaker:

to tune into those metaphors,

the more we can sort

Speaker:

of go past the first

layer of communication

Speaker:

and start to receive

the additional layers.

Speaker:

So here's an example. I,

over the years, I've noticed

Speaker:

that cars have a very

specific meaning in my dreams.

Speaker:

Now, I'm not a car person.

Speaker:

Like if you ask me what car

someone drives in my life,

Speaker:

like it, I probably don't know.

Speaker:

Like I probably can't name

the make or the model.

Speaker:

I could probably name the color maybe.

Speaker:

But so I'm not very attuned to cars.

Speaker:

So I know this about myself.

Speaker:

So it was really interesting

Speaker:

to me when I started

having very specific dreams

Speaker:

where cars figure prominently.

Speaker:

And I realized pretty

quickly that these dreams

Speaker:

where there is a car, normally

Speaker:

I'm in the backseat.

Speaker:

And that is signaling to me like, "Asia,

Speaker:

you're not in the driver's seat right now.

Speaker:

There's actually someone

else who's communicating

Speaker:

to you right now through this

dream." So it started with my

Speaker:

several different

grandparents of mine coming

Speaker:

and driving the car,

being in the front seat.

Speaker:

I've had other dreams where

living people are in the front

Speaker:

seat, but I always know

that when I'm, when I,

Speaker:

when there's a car, it means

Speaker:

that there's like a, this is a vehicle.

Speaker:

It's a, it's a vehicle

Speaker:

for a message that's

trying to come through.

Speaker:

And if I'm in the backseat,

it often means that it's

Speaker:

someone else, another

consciousness coming in

Speaker:

to communicate something to me.

Speaker:

It's a visitation, so pay attention.

Speaker:

And then, you know, once I

understood this, then, you know,

Speaker:

my own wider self

Speaker:

and my guides,

Speaker:

my ancestors started using

the car in creative ways.

Speaker:

So, so there would be, you

know, issues in different parts

Speaker:

of the car that would alert me

to issues in different parts

Speaker:

of my body, for example.

Speaker:

So the more you can tune into

your own lexicon of images

Speaker:

the more that that

dictionary will get deeper

Speaker:

and you'll have, you'll

have more words, right?

Speaker:

It's like there'll be more

words to express the poem.

Speaker:

So start to write these down.

Speaker:

Start to notice, you know,

maybe you always see cardinals.

Speaker:

You know, start to just note that.

Speaker:

How do you feel when you see the cardinal?

Speaker:

And what comes up for you?

Speaker:

What is that connected to for you?

Speaker:

Or, you know, maybe

recently you've just been

Speaker:

seeing rainbows everywhere.

Speaker:

You know, take note of that.

Speaker:

This is you developing

your own spirit dictionary.

Speaker:

And so once you become aware

of this, then it's going

Speaker:

to be easier to understand

and receive these messages.

Speaker:

Also, a really important

thing with poetry in general,

Speaker:

including the, the poetry of our own souls

Speaker:

and these metaphors that come through is

Speaker:

to notice how you feel.

Speaker:

You know, good poetry is

not, I, in my opinion,

Speaker:

about the expertise of how words are used.

Speaker:

That's fun. That can be part

of the creative process,

Speaker:

but good poetry is good

because you feel something.

Speaker:

You don't even need to know

what the poem is about.

Speaker:

You don't have to understand why the poet

Speaker:

created every single line.

Speaker:

You just need to know that

you're feeling something.

Speaker:

And the same is true with the metaphors

Speaker:

that are being sent from our own soul.

Speaker:

The same is true with this

information that is coming in

Speaker:

from our own wider selves.

Speaker:

Notice what you feel.

Tune into what you feel.

Speaker:

You know, notice in life what

has a feeling tone for you.

Speaker:

You know, you could drive past

a beautiful elm on the street

Speaker:

and, you know, every time you

pass it, just have a feeling.

Speaker:

Someone else could drive past it

Speaker:

and literally never notice that tree.

Speaker:

But you have a feeling every

time you drive past it.

Speaker:

Notice that feeling tone.

Speaker:

Notice what gives you

goosebumps, what makes you stop,

Speaker:

what strikes you as

particularly beautiful.

Speaker:

These are all parts of this

lexicon of the, the metaphors

Speaker:

that your soul will use

to communicate with you.

Speaker:

So, you know,

Speaker:

these are all ways in

which our soul will come in

Speaker:

and gift us messages, again, in dreams,

Speaker:

through signs, through synchronicities.

Speaker:

But we can also ask. Keep

asking. Ask for dreams.

Speaker:

You know, ask for a, a sign or,

Speaker:

or a synchronicity in your life.

Speaker:

This is part of the rules of

existences that we need to ask.

Speaker:

So ask and then be open.

Speaker:

Ask and put on that poet's cap,

put the feather in your cap

Speaker:

for whatever you'd like to use here,

Speaker:

whatever metaphor makes sense for you.

Speaker:

And, and see what metaphor comes in.

Speaker:

You know, I even like doing

these metaphorical walks

Speaker:

where I ask a question and

then I do a walk in nature

Speaker:

and I just see who shows

up, what appears to me.

Speaker:

And, and what appears in a way

where then I have an emotion

Speaker:

or a feeling come up.

Speaker:

And I know that this is

part of the metaphors of

Speaker:

what is being expressed to me,

what is being shared with me.

Speaker:

After I take these walks,

I often will come back

Speaker:

and I just write whatever

it is that stood out to me.

Speaker:

Writing is a really good tool to translate

Speaker:

what might come in and

feel like a little nebulous

Speaker:

and to translate it into reality.

Speaker:

And so some of you might

be very clairvoyant.

Speaker:

You might really see these images,

Speaker:

but for a lot of us, it's actually more

Speaker:

of like a feeling sense.

Speaker:

Like I feel like I'm sitting

by a waterfall, for example.

Speaker:

Or, you know, I, I, in the

case of this walk, you know,

Speaker:

like I, a branch fell down and I,

Speaker:

and I felt this swooping

feeling inside of me

Speaker:

that actually felt very liberating.

Speaker:

So again, like a feeling

sense inside of you.

Speaker:

So you might, it might

come in more as that.

Speaker:

Sometimes people are more clair audient.

Speaker:

They might like hear

something, hear song lyrics,

Speaker:

or hear like a snippet

of poetry in connection

Speaker:

with something, but all

of this is metaphorical.

Speaker:

So when you come back from this walk

Speaker:

in this specific example, sit down

Speaker:

and write down whatever occurred to you,

Speaker:

especially if it had a feeling tone

Speaker:

and just like free associate.

Speaker:

That free association, like

this is often the poetry

Speaker:

that I love the most.

Speaker:

It makes these really beautiful leaps.

Speaker:

Again, this idea of like the,

Speaker:

a good poem being like a good net.

Speaker:

What makes it a good net

is the space in between.

Speaker:

They make these leaps and in

the leap part, that's, that's

Speaker:

where all the beauty happens.

Speaker:

We go from this to this

Speaker:

and whoa, something just

happened inside of me.

Speaker:

And so when we free associate

Speaker:

after, for example, going

on one of these walks,

Speaker:

I call them oracle walks often.

Speaker:

If going on an oracle

walk, asking a question,

Speaker:

and you come home and you

just free associate, you know,

Speaker:

whatever, whatever happened,

note it down, free associate.

Speaker:

Yet free association, just that

idea, that idea, that thing,

Speaker:

that image, that, those words,

that is you creating poetry.

Speaker:

That is you grasping the more

metaphorical meaning behind

Speaker:

what you just experienced.

Speaker:

And you know, how will you

know that you have like really,

Speaker:

you know, hit on your soul's meaning

Speaker:

or the intent behind that

metaphor is it'll be a feeling.

Speaker:

There will be like a

feeling of like peace,

Speaker:

but also like rightness

Speaker:

and excitement that it's,

it's like a feeling of

Speaker:

settledness, but also

expansion at the same time.

Speaker:

And so just start to notice

and like chart your feelings.

Speaker:

And sometimes we kind of

have to catch ourselves like

Speaker:

a little unaware because our

brain can want to insert itself

Speaker:

and overthink things.

Speaker:

And this is why I love things like walking

Speaker:

and the free association writing.

Speaker:

Also dreaming because it kind

Speaker:

of puts our conscious mind a

little bit in that backseat

Speaker:

and it allows us to be a little more open.

Speaker:

So sometimes people ask

me this question of like,

Speaker:

how do I know it's not,

you know, my conscious mind

Speaker:

or, you know, really it's more of like,

Speaker:

how do I know it's not

my like worried mind,

Speaker:

my fearful mind, my anxiety coming in?

Speaker:

Well, because normally

those, those associations

Speaker:

or those messages will come

in with a feeling of fear,

Speaker:

urgency, criticism, judgment.

Speaker:

And that's how we know that

that's our brain trying to,

Speaker:

you know, control the message,

control the situation, trying

Speaker:

to protect us from danger.

Speaker:

And like, you know, God bless our brain.

Speaker:

It's our brain has a purpose.

Speaker:

And in this instance, you know,

we want to free ourselves.

Speaker:

This is why we're putting

on the poet's cap.

Speaker:

It's not about, you know, figuring it out.

Speaker:

That's not the energy behind poetry.

Speaker:

That's not the energy behind metaphor.

Speaker:

It's about experiencing it.

Speaker:

It's about being open to

like the wonder of the layers

Speaker:

of meaning inherent to, you know, that,

Speaker:

that one single metaphor.

Speaker:

You know, ultimately, you

know, your soul itself

Speaker:

is also this beautiful metaphor for

Speaker:

an inexplicable level of

reality for, you know,

Speaker:

your soul is unique

and entire unto itself.

Speaker:

And it is referencing this reality

Speaker:

of the divine that, you know,

we in our lifetimes are here

Speaker:

to experience mostly through

a veil, through, you know,

Speaker:

these interesting layers

of being here in a body

Speaker:

and being here on this planet.

Speaker:

But your, your soul is poetry

in that way, contains poetry.

Speaker:

The, the poem of who you

are is whole and intact

Speaker:

and can, can never be diminished,

can never be destroyed.

Speaker:

And, and that font of poetry

that is your own soul will

Speaker:

forever be giving you these

metaphors to help you understand

Speaker:

who you are, why you're here,

Speaker:

and why you chose to come

be here in this existence.

Speaker:

So there's this really beautiful

quote from the movie Bright

Speaker:

Star that is attributed

Speaker:

to John Keats in, in one of his letters.

Speaker:

And the, the quote that

I love goes like this,

Speaker:

"A poem needs understanding

through the senses.

Speaker:

The point of diving in the

lake is not immediately to swim

Speaker:

to the shore, but to be in the lake,

Speaker:

to luxuriate in a sensation of water.

Speaker:

You do not work the lake out.

Speaker:

It is an experience beyond thought.

Speaker:

Poetry soothes and emboldens

the soul to accept mystery.

Speaker:

And I think ultimately this

is why our soul communicates

Speaker:

with us through metaphor,

Speaker:

because our own soul is soothing

Speaker:

and emboldening us to accept

the mystery of reality, to

Speaker:

orient ourselves to

the fact that the point

Speaker:

of being here on this planet

is not to figure it out,

Speaker:

but to be in the lake, to

be in the experience, to,

Speaker:

you know, be here

Speaker:

and in whatever way we can

luxuriate in the sensation

Speaker:

of water, this sensation,

the experience of being here

Speaker:

that is a temporal, that is brief,

Speaker:

that is something our

soul was really interested

Speaker:

in experiencing, and so we wade in.

Speaker:

We waited into the lake

Speaker:

and here we are in the

midst experiencing it.

Speaker:

And our soul is simply asking

us to be here in the midst

Speaker:

of the mystery of it all and

know that there is meaning.

Speaker:

So thank you so much for listening.

Speaker:

Thank you so much for being

here on this planet, for all

Speaker:

of the beauty that you are

pouring into this world.

Speaker:

I do have a big announcement, which is

Speaker:

that I have officially started

Speaker:

doing intuitive readings again.

Speaker:

I'm opening my books for this fall

Speaker:

for one-on-one intuitive readings,

Speaker:

and I'm calling these

readings your soul's image,

Speaker:

because what I was directed

to do was to open my books

Speaker:

to do these intuitive readings,

Speaker:

and through these readings,

I bring in an image

Speaker:

from your soul for you

that will help you connect

Speaker:

to your own soul and your own wider self.

Speaker:

Along with that image, I also call in

Speaker:

and we meet one of your

guides, as well as answer some

Speaker:

of your questions about your life.

Speaker:

So I'm about to open my

books for this next week, so,

Speaker:

and I have a feeling they're

going to go really fast.

Speaker:

So if you're interested in

booking one of these readings,

Speaker:

you can sign up for the

wait list below in order

Speaker:

to receive first word when they open.

Speaker:

And I'm only going to be opening

a couple months at a time,

Speaker:

so I will open more sessions

later this fall if you were not

Speaker:

able to get in this time around.

Speaker:

But that is coming up

next week, so go ahead

Speaker:

and get on that wait list

if you're interested,

Speaker:

and I would be so honored

to help you connect

Speaker:

with your own wider self, to connect you

Speaker:

with the metaphor of your soul.

Speaker:

So thank you so much for being here.

Speaker:

It's really such an honor

Speaker:

to be walking with you on this path.

Speaker:

As we move into the times

ahead, the deep times,

Speaker:

the deep lake of time, may,

may all of the, the poetry,

Speaker:

the metaphor that comes your way

Speaker:

help you open up this connection

to your own soul's knowing,

Speaker:

to your own unique energy, the

possibilities that are here

Speaker:

for you in this lifetime,

and may it help you remember

Speaker:

that most important thing

of all, why you're here.
