What you are about to learn

Sometimes one giant burden that we carry that gets in our way, is what I call the burden of regret.  There's the notion of mistakes. The word mistake usually implies a lack of intention. I made a mistake.  When we do it intentionally that's not a mistake. And one of the things that I know irritates people is when someone says I made a mistake, and both parties know that the action was intentional. Either one can cause regret. They are different in how we deal with that regret. No one is exempt from committing a mistake. Every single person breathing air has made mistakes, some of which are serious. Every person has done something that they knew was going to hurt someone else. So we've all been guilty of intentionally doing things that are harmful or hurtful. That's not good, either one.

It can certainly create a circumstance where you're embarrassed to be around certain people. If you've done things that are wrong, and you haven't done what you can to clean it up. Seeing someone or being in the presence of someone could be very uncomfortable and get in the way of you being authentic and open and a beacon of light. Regret can be a catalyst for cleaning up messes that are still hanging around. So here's the choice that you have. If you've done something, whether it was inadvertent or unintentional, and you can't really clean it up, you can do everything you can to clean it up. And that varies by circumstance. I would suggest to you in pursuit of the ultimate life that you are getting in the way of your own ability to do good. There comes a time when you have done what you can And that you need to let the regret go.

Key Takeways

“If you did it intentionally. You may decide later. That was the wrong thing to do. I should not have done that. Either one of those can carry enormous regret. A mistake that was inadvertent that has serious consequences can carry regret. That can be crushing and intentional hurt, that was done can also carry regret, that was crushing, or that is crushing.”

“Continued self-loathing does not serve anyone. It certainly doesn't serve the person you hurt. And it does prevent you from doing any good. It prevents you from being the kind of person you could be. It prevents you from being a beacon of light, a vessel of love, and a conduit of power to do the good that you can. “
