Where do you hurt?
In this episode, Kellan talks about why his body hurts. He looks at his past physical injuries, his medical history, and his coma and near-death experience as examples of why his body would hurt. More recently, he’s been moving to a new house, and carrying and moving heavy furniture. Apart from the physical pains, Kellan also talks a bit about emotional pain – hardships that he had to endure, and the resultant pain that has remained in his life.
Kellan tells us that regardless of his past injuries and struggles; he made the decision that he was going to live his ultimate life. He elaborates on the nature of pain, whether physical or emotional, and explains that it is because you are pushing a boundary or challenging something outside of a comfort zone.
Not every form of pain is a sign of growth, however. Sometimes pain is a sign of damage and ruin, as Kellan explains. All is not lost - you can still fix any of those pains.
The only question you need to ask yourself is, “are you willing to go after the solution?” Your answer will determine whether or not you will move forward toward Your Ultimate Life.
Key Takeaways:
- “I decided that, no matter what, I was going to live the Ultimate Life.”
- “There’s no greater joy than being of service, helping people do good, achieve something, feel better, take courage, and go through their own trials. Your own struggles, trials, tribulations, difficulties, and broken things in your own life are the very engine and fuel for your capability to do that.”
“Your tribulations and trials are the very thing that give you a specialized empathy.” - “Even if your body hurts, even if your heart hurts, even if your life has been rough, you alone are responsible for your life. You have the opportunity in your hand right now to create anything you want.”
- “As we serve each other to the depths of our soul and the depths of someone’s need, you become valuable.”
- “The first step is to say ‘I’m going to do it no matter what.’”
- “What it usually means when you hurt, whether physically or emotionally, is you are pushing a boundary; you’re challenging something, you’re moving outside of a comfort zone. We all know no growth happens in a comfort zone.”
- “Every pain is not a sign of growth.”
- “You can fix any of the pains that you are having, whether they’re in your heart or in your body.”
“If those pains are standing between you and your ultimate life, your choice is to give in to mediocrity, or you can say ‘I refuse to let the pains that I’m experiencing in my body, or in my heart, define me.’”
