Our words are doing more than we think. They're either building courage or quietly tearing it down.
Encouragement isn't just about being kind-it's about being intentional.
“Discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love." Hebrews 10:24
Encourage = infuse courage into someone else; to fill with courage or strength of purpose
"The Life-changing Power of Encouragement" - James Prescott
Encouragement has a measurable effect on our bodies and our minds. It actually changes what's happening inside someone.
"Words can wound or heal -“Reckless words are like the thrusts of a sword, cutting remarks meant to stab and to hurt. But the words of the wise soothe and heal.” Proverbs 12:18
"Right word at the right time = meaningful + valuable - “The right word at the right time is like a custom-made piece of jewelry.” Proverbs 25:11
How to live this out -
- Notice what someone is doing right
- Praise others' effort.
- Be intentional.
Get into the habit of encouraging at least 3 people every day. Your words might be what helps someone take their next step.
Go speak life-and watch what God does through it!
