Sommer runs The Mixtape Museum, dedicated to documenting, archiving, and preserving the history and artifacts related to mixtapes, showcasing their importance to the spread of Hip-Hop music and culture in the U.S. and throughout the world. She also runs an acclaimed initiative called #HipHopHacks, which uses Hip-Hop music and technology to engage with young people and help introduce them to STEM/STEAM fields.
