Recorded to highlight CPE Christian Product Expo 2026, TS Wright welcomes acclaimed Christian author DiAnn Mills to Kingdom Cross Roads Podcast for a conversation about faith, fiction, perseverance, and responding to God’s call.

DiAnn introduces listeners to her suspense novel, Canyon of Deceit, a story set partly in the rugged Guadalupe Mountains of West Texas. The novel follows wilderness survival expert Therese Palmer and Texas Ranger Blaine as they search for a kidnapped Russian girl and uncover far more than they expected. DiAnn explains how extensive firsthand research—including visiting the remote Dog Canyon area and studying wilderness survival—helps her create believable settings and characters.

For DiAnn, storytelling is more than entertainment. She views writing as a form of ministry and intentionally brings a Christian worldview into her stories, showing characters confronting danger, uncertainty, and difficult choices while recognizing the sovereignty of God.

DiAnn also shares the story behind her writing career. After years of wanting to become a writer, her husband challenged her in 1996 to pursue writing full time and get something published within a year. She accepted the challenge, sold her first book, and never returned to her previous career. At the time of this interview, she says she is working on book 105.

She discusses the discipline required to become a professional writer: researching characters, studying successful books, learning the craft, setting daily word-count goals, staying aware of changes in publishing, praying, and continuing to grow.
