Shownotes

In this heartfelt conversation, Jill Hart sits down with mastery-method, trauma-informed coach Nicki Brown to unpack why breaking free from burnout and perfectionism isn’t about doing more—it’s about feeling safe enough to be.

We explore how social media conditioning fuels “never enough,” why boundaries matter, and how somatic practices help heal core worth wounds at the root. Nicki shares her five-level approach (mental, emotional, somatic, unconscious, behavioral), gentle reframes you can use with yourself and your kids, and the power of slower, sustainable growth.

We also talk about her group program, Reclaim Your Nature, for high-achieving women ready to return to authenticity. If you’re craving steadiness over hustle and a life that feels good—not just looks good—this episode is your permission slip.

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Today, we are chatting with… Nikki Brown, and Nikki is a Mastery Method Certified Nervous System Aware

7

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: and trauma-informed women's healing and empowerment coach who believes that changing the world starts by healing and empowering ourselves. She helps women caught in cycles of burnout, perfectionism, and over-functioning break free from their wounded conditioning and return to authenticity. Through her five-level approach, mental, emotional, somatic, unconscious, and behavioral, Nikki guides women to heal at the root.

8

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: so they can flourish in life. Welcome to the show, Nikki. It's great to have you with us.

9

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Thank you for that beautiful introduction. Thank you so much for having me, I'm so happy to be here.

10

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: So, let's ask you the big question. What's the most significant thing, in your opinion, as individuals we can do to make a difference, and how the world is going?

11

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, so I think for me, the most significant thing that I think we can do is to do our own work, and I'm sure maybe a lot of people as coaches say that, but, like, the truth is that when we do our own work, it really ripples out into the world, and if we believe in

12

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): the possibility that we can make a change in the future, we have to believe first in ourselves and our capacity to do that, right? If we want to change the systems that are broken, if we want to, you know, reconnect with the Earth and help regenerate

13

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): The planet, if we wanna…

14

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): help lift communities up. In order to do all of those things, it really starts with doing the work internally to get reconnected with our values and with who we are, so that we can bring all of our gifts out, because when we bring those gifts out and those strengths, then we're able to actually

15

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Stand in our authenticity, believe in ourselves, and just, like.

16

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): start doing the things that will make those changes in the world. And of course, every time we do that work, it ripples out for others as well. We stand as models for other people of what's possible, and hopefully they start to do that too.

17

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I love that. I love that. It's so true. It's…

18

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It used to be that people would tell you you're being selfish, or you're bragging, or whatever the thing was, you know, don't daydream. All those things are, like, the mechanisms that help us really, center in on… it's like we have…

19

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Struggled in a world where stunted growth

20

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: is, like, the norm. We're told that we have to fit into this

21

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: framework of somebody else's idea of how our life is supposed to go, rather than just growing into who we are and being able to stand up and say, yes, this is what I stand for, and this is what I believe, and this is how I feel about myself. I'm okay. There was a book written back in the 70s, I'm Okay, You're Okay, and I never read it, but I was the recipient of

22

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: My parents read it, and they were kind of in psychology, and it really did a lot of damage to me as a human being.

23

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Because it was very manipulative. And these days, people are…

24

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: are learning to embrace who they are and just be good with it. It's alright if everybody doesn't like you. It's alright if what you put out isn't perfect. It can just be good enough.

25

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

26

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, I love that. Good enough is such… it's been such a lesson for me in my life as a recovering perfectionist. I like to say, like.

27

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Good enough is something that I struggled with for a really long time, probably similar to

28

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): a lot of people, I think, because there's a lot of women who develop conditioning throughout their lifetime of needing to be perfectionistic, or needing to be high-achieving, or needing to, you know, be people-pleasing, or be the model of, like, this selfless.

29

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): natural, caretaking, motherly woman, you know? There's so many expectations that I think are put on us, and so many that we put on ourselves unconsciously, and so a lot of that

30

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): it can feel very heavy, and can lead to a lot of perfectionism, and where we start to, like, always be looking outward, like, am I doing good enough?

31

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Am I… am I enough, you know?

32

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And that's been such a lifelong lesson for me, that I keep

33

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): you know, working on over and over again through different layers of healing that, like, story of, like, I am enough, I am good enough, this is good enough.

34

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Learning how to be.

35

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): With where we are, without it needing to be any different in order to be okay.

36

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, and I think some of this comes from just marketing. We've had so much marketing at us, we were talking about Instagram earlier, and Instagram is really bad for this, where… and TikTok, but where you're constantly being shown filtered images.

37

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: That aren't real, and we're trying to live our lives in a way that is, like.

38

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: You can… you're a woman, you should be able to do everything. You should be great at your job, you should be great raising your kids, you should be great keeping your house.

39

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Everything should look just right, and if you're gonna plant a garden, all the rows need to be straight, no weeds, and, you know, and…

40

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: there's just not enough time in the day, and then you gotta be really super sexy for your man, or woman, whoever you're attracted to. It's just like, you can't do that. It's not realistic.

41

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And if you try.

42

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I think a lot of women just, like, give up.

43

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: There's, like.

44

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, honestly, it's so heavy, and I remember when I first became a mom, actually, one of my biggest, like, my rock bottom moment where I really… before I became a coach.

45

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): one of the things was that I was, you know, becoming a mom at this time where, like, Instagram was becoming really popular, and there was a lot of this, like, motherhood through Instagram thing happening, and people, like, posting pictures of their perfect homes and their beautiful babies online, like, all the…

46

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): occasions, the, you know, the Halloweens and the Easter's and, like, what is everyone else doing? And now, all of a sudden, there's all these expectations, like, oh, am I doing enough?

47

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): am I doing… and so, at that time, you know, I went back to work, and I had just had a daughter, and I was trying to be everything I could in the job that I used to have, because I was that corporate ladder climber achiever, like, I was used to looking good and doing great in that space, but now I'm like, well, now I have this extra job. Now I'm mom, and homemaker, and all of these things, and now I need to… now I need to hold all the plates in this arena as well.

48

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And then that Instagram thing was really, really hard on me in those moments. I had so much self-judgment, so much self-loathing, so much stress, that it really just cracked me open. And that was…

49

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): the point in my life where I just couldn't keep it together anymore, and when everything sort of came crumbling down, I was, well…

50

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): who am I underneath all of this, and can I be okay with who I am?

51

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So throughout that journey, that's really what I discovered. But in all honesty, when I started doing the personal development work, I set out to try and fix myself. I was like, there is something wrong with me. I'm a broken human being that I cannot do all these things.

52

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Other people seem to do it, why can't I, you know?

53

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And I think there's been a lot more awareness over the years. Now, obviously, this is many years ago now, but there's been a lot more awareness over the years of.

54

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): the fakeness of Instagram, but that's the truth, you know, the fakeness of Instagram. But at the same time, I think that there's still a long way to go, and that even though we know up here.

55

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): It's still hard to be in a place where you're seeing those things all the time, and you don't get swept up in comparing if you're not conscious and present in what you're doing every day.

56

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, and it's really important to be with other people who are aware of of the…

57

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: tendency to get drawn into those kinds of spaces. It's… when you're all by yourself, it's really easy to look at everything else around you and think, oh, it's much better

58

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Everywhere else, my life sucks, or my body sucks, or my family sucks, or my situation sucks, my job sucks. I mean, I…

59

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: it's easy to get caught into that, especially with social media, and social media has, like, added an element. It used to just be magazines, and you could just not get the magazine, but now it's like, we have to work online, we're exposed to all of this stuff, it's in the… in the news.

60

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: in…

61

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: you know, popular entertainment, you're constantly being bombarded with images of, this is what perfection looks like, this is what you should be aspiring to. Well, who says?

62

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Somebody that wants to sell you something?

63

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Because ultimately, that's what it's all about. They want you to buy something so that you can

64

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Get to that space.

65

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

66

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And it makes me a little bit, like, worried also, because I see a lot of this happening in the wellness space as well, and being, like, peddled as wellness, especially on Instagram. And it just becomes this other thing where the lens is focused outward. It's like.

67

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Well, how…

68

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): much can I cold plunge, biohack, you know, whatever to my… to my nervous system, you know, like, hack my nervous system and do all these things to try and, like, appear. Well, it's like the new

69

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): gold standard, the new good girl, is to, like, I'm eating clean, I work out every day!

70

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I meditate.

71

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I read light mask, I, whatever, like, all these things, and I'm like, that's really beautiful. If it's good for you and it helps you, great. But my question that I always tell my clients, the thing that I always come back to, is like.

72

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Take the lens that's always focused outward and turn it back inward, and ask, why am I doing this?

73

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Do I feel the need to do this to meet some standard? Do I feel the need to do this to be good enough to impress other people? Or am I doing this because it does bring me joy, or it makes me feel good, or whatever? And if you are, and you can afford to, like, amazing! Like, do that.

74

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): But also, don't do it just because you're trying to meet some standard, or because you're trying to…

75

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): be well or healthy. If that's not true for you, then it's really not healthy.

76

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's about impressing other people, and trust me, people just aren't all that interested in you. They're more interested in themselves, you know, that…

77

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Look how to win friends and influence people.

78

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: the second best-selling book in the world. It's all about being interesting, or interested more than being interesting.

79

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And… and helping people, like.

80

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: be able to be themselves, instead of, like, hey, look at how great I am!

81

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Don't you wish you were me?

82

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Jack, no? Not really.

83

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It seems exhausting to me, honestly.

84

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yes, absolutely.

85

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): But there's so many people out there who go, like, yeah, I do wish I was this other person, because we all have… we fall into that, the grass is always greener trap, right?

86

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): We always think that maybe somebody else or some… something else is better.

87

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And that's why, going back to what we were… bringing it full circle to, like, what we started with, but figuring out, like.

88

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And I feel good with where I'm at with what I have right now, like, and really, that's the paradox of transformation.

89

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): that… that we don't realize that, like, by embracing what is, and everything that we are, flaws and all, you know, everything that our life is in this moment, even when things seem to be crumbling, like, if we can sit with that discomfort, if we can embrace all that, and be like, I am here for it all, whatever lessons it's giving me, whatever I'm learning, you know, whatever is here in this

90

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): moment, the silver lining, the gold, I'm gonna dig it up, I'm gonna find it, you know?

91

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): If we can do that, then that's where our life really does start to change. It's not through all these, like, little things that we do, it's through the simple things that people often…

92

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): They are simple, but they're hard.

93

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They are simple, and they… The art of being is… is such… An amazing space.

94

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: just…

95

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: living in the moment, not worrying about what's gonna happen in the future. It's gonna come, and you're not stopping it, so… just enjoy the present, don't worry about what happened before, and if it's really bothering you, you need to make up a better story about how that happened. Because it doesn't matter.

96

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: What's already happened doesn't matter, and it doesn't matter what other.

97

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): People think…

98

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: about it.

99

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I think people think

100

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, they think you worry about it. If I keep obsessing about it, like, it's gonna somehow change it, but we can't if it's in the past, right?

101

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: But you can tell yourself a different story about what happened, one that's more empowering.

102

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

103

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And…

104

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Absolutely.

105

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I think Marissa Piers is one. Tell yourself a better lie, they're all lies.

106

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Nobody remembers the event the same way, and every time you run it through that filter in your head, it changes.

107

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

108

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): She may as well as conversation.

109

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: better.

110

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): water.

111

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah. The other day, when she was talking about how she was at school, and she tripped, and she spilled her lunch tray, and she felt embarrassed that everyone was, like, looking at her.

112

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And the story that she told herself was that somebody tripped her on purpose, and they did it to embarrass her.

113

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And I said, oh, isn't that interesting? Like, that's the story you're telling yourself. I said, you know, one of the things I love the most about you is you have the most amazing imagination. You're always using it for all these beautiful, creative things.

114

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Why don't you use it to tell yourself a new story in these moments? Because you don't know for sure what's the truth. You didn't see anyone trip you, you didn't feel anyone trip you, so, like, what if we just tell ourselves a new story in that moment?

115

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Like, maybe that…

116

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): maybe that would be really helpful, and she did. She's like, oh, yeah, like, you know, it's interesting how we can shift our perspective just by telling a new story, and how we experience life or a moment as a result of that.

117

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And…

118

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: to go a little further with what you've done for her, and showing her how to reframe a situation that could have been traumatic for the whole rest of her life, and she's young. So, she could have…

119

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: believed that story, and continued to tell that story in her head, and that would impact her relationship with all the people that saw this. She'd be like, oh, you were just laughing at me, even though they…

120

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: they're neutral.

121

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: In that moment, she… she was in shock, and she doesn't… isn't registering what happened, other than she knows she's on the ground, and her lunch is everywhere, and, you know…

122

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's horrifying, because you're suddenly in the spotlight for something that was bad, that you think is bad.

123

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And so, by showing her how to tell a better story, it's like, yeah, you tripped and you fell, and that was really sad. But, all those people, they were looking at you, and they were feeling so…

124

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Sorry for you, and they were, like, feeling your pain.

125

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And that empowers you to have a relationship.

126

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, she's like, you know.

127

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, like, my friend Jasmine, she said, oh my gosh, that happened to me too a year ago, but she didn't remember that until we talked about telling a new story.

128

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And then she remembered, and I was like, I wonder how many other people that happened to before.

129

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And maybe they were looking at you going, oh, that happened to me before as well, right? So, like, just that shift helped her remember something supportive as well in that moment.

130

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And it's a connection! She's now connected to all the other people who have had that experience, and they're having a little trip to the lunchroom club.

131

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

132

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Relationships happen in those moments, and as adults, if we can show our kids how to do this, gosh, when they grow up.

133

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: They'll teach their kids how to do this, and the world gets better!

134

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Instead of being the victim.

135

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): actually, what we were talking about earlier, right? Like, the ripples of, like… because before, I never would have had the capacity to do that, you know? Before I started doing my homework, before I started shifting my perspective, I could have never talked about my daughter that home, and I would have just been like, that sounds awful, like…

136

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): you know, I thought, I'm sorry that happened to you. And that's great, compassion's great too, but, like.

137

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): to know that I have tools that I try and use age-appropriately, of course, to help her shift her moments, and to see how that helps her is so amazing for me, because I'm thinking, like, oh my gosh, can I imagine how I would be

138

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): If I had that experience growing up, right? And so, you know, maybe she's already gonna have tools at my age that I didn't have.

139

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And that would be really great, so…

140

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Just sharing with her that one thing will change her entire life.

141

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Just the ability to reframe situations that we find ourselves in to be more empowering to us, rather than

142

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Disempowering.

143

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And we… we get to decide.

144

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: how it's gonna go. We get to make up our own stories about life, and how we're… how we're experiencing life, and we're just here for the experience. I mean, that's all we got.

145

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I always say that, you know, we have this one beautiful life to live in this body, and we should live it for ourselves. And yes, that sounds a little bit selfish when I say, like.

146

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Live it for yourself. I mean, obviously, remembering that we are interconnected as well, and that we live in relationship with other people. Like, that is literally our human nature, is to be in relationship with other people as well.

147

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): But, like… When we are living life for ourself, we're not

148

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): self-sacrificing to support other people so much. I do think there's, like, an element of, like.

149

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): You know, I saw this thing recently that was talking about, like, how everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager, because there is, like, you know, there is an element of, like.

150

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): sacrificing for the greater good sometimes, right? But I think what's really meant by that is more about, like.

151

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Being able to find a balance where people

152

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): When people are a village, and they have that

153

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): common understanding of, like, we're all in this together, and we're here to support each other, that's one thing. But when there is an imbalance, and where that one person is always picking up for other people.

154

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): or it's just more responsibility is assumed to be on some people versus others, that's when we have those dynamics that become a little bit more problematic, and then that's not really a village, that's, like.

155

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Some people carrying other people a lot more.

156

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's a fiefdom.

157

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, so I think there has to be, like, a reciprocal kind of-ness.

158

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So, yeah, living life for ourselves, but also

159

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): remembering that we are living in connection and in relation to other… relationship to other people, because I think that is super important as well.

160

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's about having boundaries, and teaching our children how to have boundaries, and respecting their boundaries.

161

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

162

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And boundaries aren't so much about, you know, this is you telling other people your boundaries, it's about…

163

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: understanding where your boundaries are so that you can have a relationship with other people, instead of just being, like, the doormat, and the gates wide open, and whatever you need, I'm your… I'm your person, and just walk all over me, because people-pleasing is, like.

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: It's…

165

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: it goes hand-in-hand with perfectionism. We want to be loved so badly, and there's some wound in there, almost always, where you're just like.

166

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: I just want to be good enough. I just want to be significant. I just want to prove myself to the world. And the only way I have been taught to do this is by being the very best I can. I've got to push everybody else down so I can get to the top. And when you discover that

167

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: No, you don't have to be at the top. You can be at the bottom.

168

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And you can just encourage the heck out of other people, and your life's gonna be really good, too.

169

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Right. Well, going back to the stories we were telling earlier, though, because the problem is that people think, like, oh, well, if I'm at the bottom, then that means I am…

170

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): less worthy, less good, or whatever. And so, when we're… we have to kind of break out of those

171

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I think…

172

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): ideas of better than, less than, like, and just realizing that everyone's different, everyone has strengths and gifts, and everyone's gonna play different roles, right? And that doesn't mean that anything is better than or less than

173

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): It just means that there are different strengths, and everyone needs to find their place and their best way to shine, right?

174

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): But yeah, I think it's really tricky because those, a lot of people have those core wounds that you were talking about, like, around significance, or, like, the worth wound, like, not feeling like they're enough, and that's where a lot of those, like, perfectionism and things come from.

175

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Comes from growing up with

176

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): You know, people that are constantly pushing you, like, to do better, or maybe you only ever received love, affection, validation when you were, like, you know, the top of the class, or the

177

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): the best at this sport, or whatever, and so we learn, like, oh, the way that I get love, the way that I get this attachment, is by being the best, right?

178

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Obviously, it's unconscious, so, like, we don't realize that… that, you know, we spend our whole lives with this same script running through our heads, like.

179

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): oh, well, if I just get that promotion, or if I just get to that next

180

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): salary bracket, or if I look successful, then I will be good enough, then people will love me. And when we get to the root of that, and we start recognizing the story that's there.

181

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And working to heal that, oftentimes it's through

182

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): the biggest helper, I would say, in healing these wounds, these deep core wounds in the root, is often somatic work, like working it through the body, because the truth is that

183

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): there's no amount of, like, mindset that can heal a lot of these wounds, because, like, on some level, we know. We know it's not true, and we know we shouldn't think those things.

184

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): But you can't trick the body into feeling safe with your mind most of the time.

185

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So, there's a lot of somatic work involved in, like, learning how to feel the sensations of those things that we were talking about earlier, like, sitting with the discomfort, or being able to embrace, like.

186

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): The feeling of not good enough in order to actually feel good enough on the other side of that, which seems like the opposite of what you would think, but the paradox of transformation is that we have to go to the places we don't want to go and be willing to embrace those in order to experience that other side of the spectrum.

187

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So, I do think it's…

188

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): it's really common that a lot of people have those wounds. And sadly, I think a lot of people… we spend our whole life being

189

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): you know, Taught how to perform a life that

190

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): looks good, but we haven't been taught how to live a life that feels good, you know? Because we don't know how to, like, feel in these big things that inevitably are gonna happen in life.

191

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): That kind of take us out of… out of our… our authenticity and out of our truth of, like, that wholeness that we have inside.

192

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, that's so true. I… and… I see it starting…

193

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: With the younger generation, the kids that are coming up now, whose parents are

194

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: You know, coming to terms with the idea that

195

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: the old ways didn't work so well, and they're giving kids room to be themselves, and they're letting them explore different ideas. And it's not across the board yet, but I see a time coming where it's going to be. And I think

196

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: people participating in coaching programs, like the one we're going to talk about for you, that you have, that you offer, just is, like, it's a… it's a bridge to a new way of being, and as.

197

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah.

198

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: parents and moms, especially, learn these tools and learn how to heal themselves, then they're gonna pass this on to their kids, and their kids are gonna share with their friends and their kids, and… and the world does change that way. It doesn't change overnight, but it does change.

199

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, yeah, I think, one of the problems with society and the way that it's grown is that we are always expecting things to happen instantaneously and quickly, and if it's not, then it's not… it's not right, or it's not good enough, you know?

200

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I actually moved from Canada to Spain about a year ago.

201

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And life here is a lot slower, it's a lot different.

202

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: One of the things I actually really loved is that there's so much inconvenience.

203

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And so much slowness.

204

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And I actually realized through the… through the process how beneficial it is to…

205

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): to actually allow things to happen more slowly, even though it feels uncomfortable at first. How much patience is grown, how much more resilience we seem to have.

206

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): How much more gratitude and appreciation, because we're not, like, always, you know, go, go, go, or we're not always used to things happening so quickly, and so…

207

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): I think that,

208

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): If we can train our brain out of that, like, things need to happen quickly, and recognize

209

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): that… things actually…

210

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): if they take slower, if it takes longer, then it's actually growing more sustainably, and you're able to build a stronger foundation a lot of times. And I think that's really helpful. And so I think that's the important thing when you're thinking about

211

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): well, you know, it's gonna take forever, years, I'll never see that. But, like, Yes, it will take.

212

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Time's gonna pass.

213

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Time, exactly. Time is gonna pass anyway. And bit by bit, like, things… things grow quickly when we just take those little steps forward, instead of thinking that it's not going to make a difference.

214

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Yeah, a lot of it is just get started. Yeah. Take one step.

215

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Can evaluate after your one step.

216

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: Then you can take another step.

217

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: And pretty soon, you're, like, running, because it's like, oh, I know where I'm going. But you can start slowly, but just start. So, how do you help people? Is it in groups? Is it one-on-one? How does all that look?

218

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, so I do… I do a lot of one-on-one work as well, but I recently launched a group program. It's called Reclaim Your Nature, which is all about reconnecting with

219

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): a more natural way of, like, being, so that authentic part of ourselves. It's a little bit about, like, kind of self-reclamation, I call it, so this ability to kind of take back who we are, what we value, and bring that more to the world.

220

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And then it's about, you know, finding a way to live in this modern world in a way that feels more natural, because I think so many of the ways that North America especially has kind of grown

221

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): has really disconnected us from more… our more natural ways of being, when you think about, Indigenous people, for instance. I have some Indigenous heritage, and I've learned a lot about that, and that's been really helpful for me. And reconnecting with, like, these more natural ways of being.

222

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): in a grounded sense of, like, recognizing also, like, we're in a different time, so that can't be the exact same, but, like, how do you still incorporate these concepts? For example, like.

223

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So many women, high-achieving women, will…

224

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Be, you know, pushing through and going, going, going all the time, and not maybe paying attention to, like, where they are in their cycle.

225

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And knowing that maybe your body needs different things at different times, or recognizing that we don't have to be at 100 all the time. Like, just like nature has seasons, like, we have seasons, too. Like, we need that rest time.

226

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): It's okay to let things fall away in order to, like, let new things grow, you know? So, like, being able to, like, really take a lot of the wisdom from nature and incorporate that in your lives, and also remember, like, that connection with nature.

227

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): As being super helpful, because it really grounds you in yourself and in something bigger than yourself as well.

228

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And then.

229

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: connected.

230

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Yeah, yeah.

231

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): So that program, Reclaim Your Nature, is about just reclaiming those natural ways of being, and then also that embodied feminine leadership, like, learning to soften and receive, and not always have to live from that wounded masculine energy. Obviously, like, there's a balance of both.

232

::

Jill Hart-The Coach's Alchemist: That are needed in order to, you know.

233

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Go after gold, or to live your life, but…

234

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): It's about learning how to work with the more…

235

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): feminine way of being, that high-achieving women often lose in the need for, like, control, perfectionism, high performance, over-functioning, etc.

236

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And so I think that's really… I think that's really,

237

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): just the heart of what I… what I really want to do in the world, and eventually I would like to kind of bring this program into something that is also more connected to a regenerative model.

238

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): That gives back to communities and nature in the process.

239

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): And some… eventually down the line, there will be some retreats that are more, like,

240

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): Connected to nature and, like, planting and cleaning up the environment and things like that, but…

241

::

Nicki Brown (She/her): For right now, one step at a time, like we talked about. So right now is the group program, and that's ongoing enrollment until the new year, when we will start.

242

::
