We long to be great, and so we attempt to be so through achieving, acquiring, and calling attention to ourselves. Our pursuit of greatness actually blinds us from the one thing keeping us from greatness…, our pride. Lent, through sacrifice, giving up, letting go, and self-humbling exposes our hearts and calls us to Christ’s way and not our own. Christ showed us that power comes from humility and sacrifice, and when we follow his example, we experience his victory.
