Tony Desiri:

Another edition of Wands and Wishes podcast.

Tony Desiri:

Glad you could be with us.

Tony Desiri:

We are at that spooky time of the year.

Tony Desiri:

The calendar has now moved into the burr months, so now we are heading into the holidays.

Tony Desiri:

Not only that, but we've got the Halloween season that was already upon us in August.

Tony Desiri:

So in this episode, we're going to go over the Mickey's not so scary Halloween party, give you tips for that, as well as the Halloween horror nights at Universal Studios.

Tony Desiri:

If you are planning to make that part of your fall vacation, a lot of people do go down for the especially the Mickey's not so scary Halloween party with little kids and there is a lot to process.

Tony Desiri:

That's why we are going to do so.

Tony Desiri:

Lauren Mallard, all the magic travel as we continue along.

Tony Desiri:

How are you?

Lauren Mallard:

I'm good.

Lauren Mallard:

How are you, Tony?

Tony Desiri:

My favorite time of the year.

Lauren Mallard:

Oh, I can see.

Lauren Mallard:

I'm actually looking behind you in your studio and I see one of the Mickey wreaths that looks just like the ones in Magic Kingdom.

Tony Desiri:

I was able to get that a couple weeks ago.

Tony Desiri:

I was down visiting my parents at Disney Springs and I brought it in to give us the feeling of the fall.

Tony Desiri:

I love it this time of year.

Tony Desiri:

There are two, there are three after hours events, but there are two parties that go on around this time, the Christmas party and the Halloween party.

Tony Desiri:

And I know people will have their opinions on which one's the best.

Tony Desiri:

Personally, I think it's the Halloween party.

Lauren Mallard:

I agree.

Tony Desiri:

I think this is one of the best ways to experience Walt Disney World in something other than normally going to the park.

Tony Desiri:

But it can be very, very tricky if you are navigating this for the first time or even the second time of some of the things.

Tony Desiri:

So I thought we would throw out some topics and give some tips based on how you can kind of navigate this event.

Tony Desiri:

So first off, these are selected nights.

Tony Desiri:

So you got to get is a separate ticket.

Tony Desiri:

You've got to get your ticket.

Tony Desiri:

And how you manage this with your vacation depends on the current ticket package you have.

Tony Desiri:

You can be in the park prior, you can come in later.

Tony Desiri:

So let's talk about arrival.

Tony Desiri:

What are some of the tips that you give on arrival to this event?

Lauren Mallard:

So one thing that I will talk about with my clients usually is if they are planning to have this be a rest day, which a lot of them will, because you do not need a park ticket if you have a Halloween party ticket.

Lauren Mallard:

est to be at Magic Kingdom by:

Lauren Mallard:

right?

Lauren Mallard:

You are allowed to get in at:

Lauren Mallard:

And that is going to be hot.

Lauren Mallard:

It's going to be even hotter if you are really dressed up in costumes.

Lauren Mallard:

So remember that.

Lauren Mallard:

Keep that in mind, but make sure that you arrive on time because you want to get all the hours in as possible.

Lauren Mallard:

So you get up to 8 hours, depending on what time you get there.

Tony Desiri:

And about two in two years.

Tony Desiri:

I've gone to the after hours party and I've gone to the Christmas party both times when you take the monorail, if you think you're getting there at quarter to four or even 330, and as that monorail is coming to the station and you just see that, you.

Lauren Mallard:

Realize you're too late.

Tony Desiri:

You are realizing, oh, my goodness, I did this for the after hours party, realizing, oh, they've limited to only a couple thousand.

Tony Desiri:

It was still an ocean of people.

Tony Desiri:

It is at the front of that.

Lauren Mallard:

Gate, and you are overwhelming when you're first getting in.

Lauren Mallard:

And of course, the crowds will disperse once they're inside magic kingdom.

Lauren Mallard:

But just tapping in and getting in, you just want to make sure that you're allowing yourself plenty of time.

Tony Desiri:

And they do go pretty quick, quickly with the magic bands, I mean, and getting you into the park and getting those wristbands on so that it isn't, once the line starts, you are going to be constantly moving, so you are going to be boogieing.

Tony Desiri:

If you have a client that is in the park says, listen, I just want to make it wall to wall early morning, do not have to go to the front to get your wristbands.

Lauren Mallard:

No, you do not.

Lauren Mallard:

So starting at some point during the afternoon, close to time, for magic kingdom to close, you'll start seeing cast members around that have the wristbands for the party, and they will go ahead and just go ahead and give you those while you're in the park so that you're not having to take park time to go back up front to get that taken care of.

Tony Desiri:

And I always tell people, if you're in that park that day, for that reason, if you're saying, look, I'm doing magic Kingdom all day, including the party, you don't have to get your wristband right away.

Tony Desiri:

I've seen too many people saying, I missed a lightning lane because I had to.

Tony Desiri:

I stood in line, don't do it.

Tony Desiri:

You have till:

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, naturally you want to get them on as early as you can.

Tony Desiri:

But if you've got a dinner reservation, if you've got a lightning lane pass or something, don't have.

Tony Desiri:

Don't feel at:

Lauren Mallard:

Absolutely.

Lauren Mallard:

They're going to be looking for people that don't have park tickets by the time that magic kingdom closes.

Lauren Mallard:

And so they're going to make sure that those people are out of the park.

Lauren Mallard:

And at that time, if you don't have a wristband, they're not going to deny you one.

Lauren Mallard:

They're going to let you have one at that point.

Tony Desiri:

Exactly.

Tony Desiri:

One other thing, too, is, let's say you have a client that says, all right, look, we're park hoppers.

Tony Desiri:

We're not going to rest that day.

Tony Desiri:

We're going to Epcot.

Tony Desiri:

What time would you recommend them get to the park?

Tony Desiri:

I mean, could you.

Tony Desiri:

ou have to be there, there at:

Tony Desiri:

You can just kind of go in.

Lauren Mallard:

Absolutely not.

Lauren Mallard:

You can go in at any time.

Lauren Mallard:

So that's totally up to you.

Lauren Mallard:

If you're not looking to really have a lot of park time, then I've heard of people taking a long dinner right before the party so that they're not having to take party time to get mobile orders or anything like that in Magic Kingdom.

Lauren Mallard:

n they leisurely head over at:

Lauren Mallard:

If you're at Epcot and you want to have dinner over there before coming over, then you'll actually miss a lot of that crowd that's arriving.

Tony Desiri:

And I always say, listen, if you've made magic kingdom at some point in your vacation part one or two days, there's no real reason to be in a line for an hour to get into the park.

Tony Desiri:

There's not, you know, if you've already said, look, you know, we're doing it on Thursday night, Tuesday night, we spent the full day there.

Tony Desiri:

Only reason I would say to people is get as much value as you can for your ticket, but don't wait in line for an hour if you've already done a full one or two days at Magic Kingdom to squeeze in some of that, because the party and the things you're going for are not.

Lauren Mallard:

Starting until:

Lauren Mallard:

you're getting there at that:

Tony Desiri:

So you can get those out of the way to enjoy the rest of the event, which we will get to in a minute.

Tony Desiri:

Now let's get to food because this is always the best part about going to these events is what's on tap.

Tony Desiri:

Now, I always tell people, know what you want to eat.

Tony Desiri:

It's a balancing act because I know there are people who say, I want to be surprised.

Tony Desiri:

I'm not looking at any blogs.

Tony Desiri:

I am not looking at the food guides.

Tony Desiri:

I want to go to every kiosk and restaurant and everything to see what they're serving.

Tony Desiri:

I want to look at the menu for the first time.

Tony Desiri:

But this creates a problem because if you don't know what's there, you don't know what you're filling up on and what you're going to be missing when you're not as hungry.

Tony Desiri:

That chocolate cake spectacular in tomorrowland at 930, maybe you're too full for that and that's something you really did want, right?

Lauren Mallard:

Or if you, if you get to one and it's not really what you're looking for, then it's kind of a trek to get to the other side of the park to find something else that might be more up your alley.

Lauren Mallard:

So what I suggest in this regard is there are some sites that are, that have scouted out different bloggers that have scouted out the parties already that have maps.

Lauren Mallard:

They have maps for characters, they have maps for treats.

Lauren Mallard:

They have maps for exclusive food items that are part of the party.

Lauren Mallard:

I highly suggest that you take a look, look at these blogs.

Lauren Mallard:

I do not have one, but there are different ones.

Lauren Mallard:

And if you ask me, I can let you know which ones that I like the best and they'll kind of lay that out for you.

Tony Desiri:

And I don't know what it is, but every time Halloween comes around, all these parks want to do spicy stuff.

Lauren Mallard:

I know, right?

Tony Desiri:

Everything is a pepper jack burger.

Tony Desiri:

You know, pepper jack this or it's very.

Tony Desiri:

Everything's spicy.

Lauren Mallard:

Does it like scare the ghost away?

Tony Desiri:

It might be.

Tony Desiri:

That's what they want to do.

Tony Desiri:

But I always recommend too is look, especially if you're on there.

Tony Desiri:

If you're on vacation, there are going to be Halloween treats you can get at other times.

Tony Desiri:

So don't think just the party is having some Halloween things, but there are things for the Halloween party that you cannot get.

Tony Desiri:

So I say try to limit yourself to what you can only get at the party if you can.

Tony Desiri:

I mean, if there are things you don't like, you don't like.

Tony Desiri:

But if you can get some witch thing at any other time during the.

Lauren Mallard:

Fall or at another park, or at.

Tony Desiri:

Another park, every park has it do that.

Tony Desiri:

But if you can only get an item, Madame Liotta's candle for one.

Lauren Mallard:

Go for that.

Tony Desiri:

Go for that.

Tony Desiri:

Because this is one of the reasons you're buying the specialty ticket.

Lauren Mallard:

Yes, because.

Lauren Mallard:

So for the actual party, 5 hours might seem like a lot of time, but it's not at all because we're going to start getting into what all is included in that 5 hours and what all you're going to want to take part of.

Lauren Mallard:

So seeing that you can't use that time to get twelve different treats, you know, that's, that's a, that's a tough ask.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

And then what about, what about sit down reservations?

Tony Desiri:

I mean, I, I would say prior to the party, get it after the party, it just feels like you're wasting time.

Lauren Mallard:

I would avoid it.

Lauren Mallard:

You're wasting time.

Lauren Mallard:

You're thinking about, you know, if you're paying $189 per person just to get into the park, think about that.

Lauren Mallard:

On top of what you might pay for your crystal palace buffet or anything else that you're taking up an hour of your time, I would definitely say let's skip the sit down dinners.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, exactly.

Tony Desiri:

Now, again, we're doing one at be our guest, but it's at 430, so we'll get that done and then the party begins and we're good to go.

Lauren Mallard:

That's perfect.

Tony Desiri:

But I always tell people, look, I know there are going to be some reservations you can make, but think of your time at that park as a ticking clock.

Tony Desiri:

Every second you're doing something that you could have done another day, you're missing out on something you can't do without that park ticket, that specialty ticket.

Tony Desiri:

Now, game plan.

Tony Desiri:

A lot of people love to wing these trips.

Tony Desiri:

A lot of people love to wing parties.

Tony Desiri:

Don't do it.

Lauren Mallard:

You can't do that.

Tony Desiri:

You can't do it.

Lauren Mallard:

No.

Lauren Mallard:

So what I always suggest is let's talk about what your priorities are.

Lauren Mallard:

Do you want to meet characters?

Lauren Mallard:

Is the parade your number one priority?

Lauren Mallard:

Then let's look at the weather.

Lauren Mallard:

That would be my first thing to tell people to do, is say there's two parades.

Lauren Mallard:

The more busy one is going to be the first one.

Lauren Mallard:

That one's at 815.

Lauren Mallard:

g to be your second parade at:

Lauren Mallard:

Now, if it looks like the weather's a little iffy, they're not going to run that parade.

Lauren Mallard:

So go ahead and go to that first parade.

Lauren Mallard:

So keep that in mind.

Lauren Mallard:

Let's say we're going to the second parade.

Lauren Mallard:

Let's meet the characters that we want to meet first.

Lauren Mallard:

The very first priority is if you want to meet Jack and Sally, their line is going to start first.

Lauren Mallard:

So their line, they're going to start about 430.

Lauren Mallard:

're in line for that by about:

Lauren Mallard:

Sounds crazy.

Lauren Mallard:

Do that.

Lauren Mallard:

The next one that I would say is a high priority this year is going to be Mirabel and Bruno are meeting together.

Tony Desiri:

Exactly.

Lauren Mallard:

Any of those characters that are meeting as a group, those are going to be high priority.

Lauren Mallard:

Those are going to be the longest lines.

Lauren Mallard:

In the past, it's been the seven Dwarfs altogether.

Lauren Mallard:

I saw that they're not back this year.

Lauren Mallard:

I can't believe that.

Tony Desiri:

y favorite pictures I took in:

Lauren Mallard:

Yes, I can't believe they're not back.

Lauren Mallard:

But then we have Elvis stitch over in Tomorrowland.

Lauren Mallard:

So take a look again.

Lauren Mallard:

This is where those sites that have everything spelled out, the maps of where each of these characters are going to be.

Lauren Mallard:

Take a look at that.

Lauren Mallard:

See which characters are priority because you are not going to meet all the characters.

Lauren Mallard:

So if you want to get in line for Jack and Sally at 430, go ahead and have mapped out where you want to go next.

Lauren Mallard:

Meet the characters first, then get a spot for the Hocus Pocus villains show that's going to have three different showings all the way until maybe the week of Halloween.

Lauren Mallard:

And then they're going to add a fourth show.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

Fourth show is coming.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

I think early October is when the fourth show is going to be.

Tony Desiri:

Yes.

Lauren Mallard:

I would prioritize that show.

Lauren Mallard:

rks, which are going to be at:

Lauren Mallard:

So those are going to be the heavy hitters and then whatever else you can get in.

Lauren Mallard:

In addition to that, there's about 14 to 15 trick or treated stops.

Lauren Mallard:

You can wait till the end of the night to do these.

Lauren Mallard:

You know what?

Lauren Mallard:

You're gonna fill up your bag regardless, so don't take time doing that.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

And by the way, with trick or treating, and we'll get to it in a minute.

Tony Desiri:

It is a lot of locations and a lot of candy and don't feel like you have to get to every single one of them, because, again, I mean, again, I gotta reiterate this.

Tony Desiri:

There's a lot to do and not a lot of time to get all of it done.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Lauren Mallard:

And as a parent of three kids, do we really want five full bags of candy coming back to the hotel room?

Lauren Mallard:

Because I do not.

Tony Desiri:

And you have to take this home.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

It's not exactly a travel, traveling thing you want to do.

Lauren Mallard:

Right.

Tony Desiri:

Let's go over the shows really quick because you mention that the booty parade does have those two times.

Tony Desiri:

You're right.

Tony Desiri:

Catch the weather, because they won't do the night one if it's raining.

Tony Desiri:

And if you miss it, you're missing out on.

Lauren Mallard:

You're missing so much.

Lauren Mallard:

They've got, this is the very best parade at Walt Disney World, so do not miss it.

Tony Desiri:

They haven't changed in a very long time for a reason.

Lauren Mallard:

Exactly.

Lauren Mallard:

Please don't ever change it.

Tony Desiri:

Don't change it.

Tony Desiri:

It's great.

Tony Desiri:

They're in costume.

Tony Desiri:

It's fantastic.

Tony Desiri:

You get to see the grave diggers.

Tony Desiri:

You get to see the villains.

Tony Desiri:

They've added the mini Daisy Sanderson sisters over the last couple of years.

Tony Desiri:

This is a great parade.

Tony Desiri:

So again, be wary of that, because, again, I'm a night.

Tony Desiri:

I'm a second parade person.

Tony Desiri:

I like the second parade.

Tony Desiri:

It's much easier to find a location.

Tony Desiri:

But again, if the weather is happening, it's not going to be that way.

Tony Desiri:

And then we got the not so spooky fireworks spectacular hosted by Jack Skellington.

Tony Desiri:

Don't miss that as well.

Tony Desiri:

And then the hoax book is villain spectacular, as we mentioned, three shows until later in the fall when they're going to up it to four shows.

Tony Desiri:

So again, get to your locations as quickly as you want.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Lauren Mallard:

And some of the smaller things that are going on, too.

Lauren Mallard:

There's a Disney Junior dance party that's over in Tomorrowland.

Lauren Mallard:

So if you have some smaller kids that are not enjoying some of the, like the bigger the villains show, things like that, take them over there, have dad take them over there and do the dance party for a little bit and then have the big kids do some of the other stuff.

Lauren Mallard:

But there's something for everybody, for sure.

Tony Desiri:

All right.

Tony Desiri:

Costumes.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, it's a big one because a lot of people like to be elaborate in costumes.

Tony Desiri:

And it's fun when you're at your house and you're in all makeup and you're in a big costume.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

In air conditioning, and you're giving out candy and it's only a couple of hours.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, but this is an eight hour thing.

Tony Desiri:

If you get there at four.

Lauren Mallard:

Yes.

Tony Desiri:

This is a five hour thing.

Tony Desiri:

If you get there at seven.

Tony Desiri:

Do you want to be walking around in heavy makeup and a big dress or a big outfit for that long a time?

Lauren Mallard:

So what I think is actually a good compromise is maybe do some t shirts that are themed.

Lauren Mallard:

A little Disney bounding going on.

Lauren Mallard:

So I remember back seven or eight years ago now, we did a Star wars theme for the not so scary Halloween party.

Lauren Mallard:

And I can still remember my husband, Chris was Han Solo, and I think that he just, I mean, he shot daggers at me all night because he was in this long sleeve long pants suit and it was a thousand degrees, so.

Lauren Mallard:

But it was fun and made for good pictures.

Lauren Mallard:

But again, I think that if you can get your point across for your costume and t shirts, then do it.

Tony Desiri:

I went in:

Tony Desiri:

I didn't put the kind of connection together yet, but I got a lot of great looks.

Tony Desiri:

People were like, nice job, well done.

Tony Desiri:

And I didn't know I was playing like, an adversarial game.

Tony Desiri:

I just found a pretty cool Harry Potter costume at party city.

Tony Desiri:

And that's what I went with.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, I mean, I remember getting my picture taken, and one of the dwarves actually, like, said, hey, look at, and I was like, oh, I get it.

Tony Desiri:

And it took me a while to kind of process it.

Tony Desiri:

I'm like, oh, I get it.

Tony Desiri:

A theme park war.

Tony Desiri:

I understand.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

But I remember one of my kids was dressed up as one of the duck dynasty guys, and he was wearing the itchy beard all day, and that was gone by 2 hours.

Lauren Mallard:

Trashed that thing.

Tony Desiri:

That was out.

Tony Desiri:

And he just was, he was absolutely miserable.

Tony Desiri:

So be comfortable with your costumes.

Tony Desiri:

My wife and I are going in next week, and we're not wearing any costumes.

Lauren Mallard:

No cost.

Tony Desiri:

And I was kind of bummed, and I said to her, why don't you wear, like a Winnie the pooh red.

Lauren Mallard:

Shirt with some, that's her favorite leggings.

Tony Desiri:

And just, I'll get you the ears.

Tony Desiri:

We'll get the earliest, and that'll be perfect.

Tony Desiri:

So she's thinking about doing that.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah, we're gonna do that.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

But, so I think she should.

Tony Desiri:

I think she should.

Lauren Mallard:

She definitely should.

Tony Desiri:

Real quick, we went and mentioned trick or treating, but again, you don't have to go to every one of these things.

Tony Desiri:

Don't feel like you.

Tony Desiri:

It's not like an epcot where you're xing off the location.

Lauren Mallard:

Right.

Lauren Mallard:

Because it's gonna be the same variety of candy at every one of them.

Lauren Mallard:

You're not gonna get something special at one that the other one doesn't have.

Tony Desiri:

All right, let's talk about rides.

Tony Desiri:

I think this is one that.

Tony Desiri:

I think you come in two camps when you do this.

Tony Desiri:

People still want to do the rides even if they're doing the rides.

Tony Desiri:

But there are no lightning lanes.

Tony Desiri:

There's no buying a cut the line pass so the lines can move.

Tony Desiri:

We said this before.

Tony Desiri:

We did this in another podcast where when you eliminate all these things, you can see movement in the lines.

Tony Desiri:

The question becomes time.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

So if you're looking at seven dwarves, mine, train and hour plus, that's a, you know, a 20% of your night from seven to midnight is could be waiting in a line for one ride.

Lauren Mallard:

So I think, again, if you're going to be there later, I would save any rides as late as possible because those lines are going to get shorter as the night goes on.

Lauren Mallard:

One that I would prioritize is Tiana's bayou adventure is going to have a standby line.

Tony Desiri:

That's right.

Lauren Mallard:

Which it normally does not have.

Lauren Mallard:

So go ahead, do something like that.

Lauren Mallard:

I saw someone posted last week that it had a 40 minutes posted standby wait, and they only waited 20.

Lauren Mallard:

So I do think that you can get some rides in, don't avoid rides by any means, but just take a look and see what you think you want to wait for.

Tony Desiri:

And do keep in mind, again, because sometimes the lightning lanes do bog down the way the lights are going to be moving.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Lauren Mallard:

Constantly moving.

Tony Desiri:

Constantly moving.

Tony Desiri:

That's what they do best.

Tony Desiri:

It's one of the reasons that Disney, when it first came, they kind of revolutionized the theme park industry with the way it can move people through lines.

Tony Desiri:

But I always tell people when you go to this, you must do haunted mansion and you must do it at night.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Lauren Mallard:

Yes.

Lauren Mallard:

And there's a couple other ones.

Lauren Mallard:

Space Mountain has a Halloween overlay where it's actually, it's complete darkness, which I always question.

Lauren Mallard:

I'm like, well, isn't it always complete darkness?

Lauren Mallard:

But I guess it's even darker than dark.

Lauren Mallard:

And then it also has Halloween music.

Lauren Mallard:

And then there's a little overlay with Monsters, Inc.

Lauren Mallard:

And there's a couple different things at Haunted Mansion, too.

Lauren Mallard:

So be sure to check those out.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, absolutely.

Tony Desiri:

Check those out.

Tony Desiri:

Meet and greets.

Tony Desiri:

You mentioned Jack and Sally earlier.

Tony Desiri:

This is the most popular line you will find that night is getting your picture taken with those two nightmare before Christmas characters.

Tony Desiri:

There is some people say get it later, but you got to be careful because some of these, they don't last until midnight.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Lauren Mallard:

Jack and Sally is one of those that will not last until midnight.

Lauren Mallard:

I think they stop meeting around eleven.

Lauren Mallard:

Most of the other characters will meet all the way until midnight, but especially some of those groups.

Lauren Mallard:

Go ahead and get them in earlier.

Tony Desiri:

Get them in earlier.

Tony Desiri:

So get in as quickly as possible.

Tony Desiri:

And I always say, look, if you're going into the park and you're, again, you're on the vacation, you've done magic kingdom.

Tony Desiri:

And again, those, those first couple of hours are nothing different than anything you've experienced earlier in the week or even later in the week during a regular park day.

Tony Desiri:

Get that out of the way, because you might as well, because the party starts at seven and now you've completed something that is not necessarily taking up your party time.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

It's gonna take time, but it's gonna not take up your party time.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

What about the villains?

Tony Desiri:

Now?

Tony Desiri:

Those are gonna be scattered throughout.

Tony Desiri:

This is another opportunity for people to get very cool.

Lauren Mallard:

They are.

Lauren Mallard:

There's some different ones.

Lauren Mallard:

Maleficent is out there.

Lauren Mallard:

I saw a whole list.

Lauren Mallard:

So there again, that's where I would send you to some of these sites that have them spelled out by the map and go and take a look at which villains.

Lauren Mallard:

There's probably six or eight villains that are meeting.

Lauren Mallard:

So what I would probably do is choose one to two of those because you're not going to get all those either.

Tony Desiri:

All right.

Tony Desiri:

Popcorn buckets.

Lauren Mallard:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

Always cool.

Tony Desiri:

And the sipper.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Lauren Mallard:

The sipper is like the little sister to the popcorn bucket.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, exactly.

Tony Desiri:

So the popcorn bucket is Jack O'Lantern Mickey.

Tony Desiri:

It lights up.

Tony Desiri:

Up.

Tony Desiri:

The sipper is the Sanderson Mini.

Lauren Mallard:

Yep.

Tony Desiri:

So these are great to get.

Tony Desiri:

What do you advise people on how and when to get them?

Tony Desiri:

I've done it where I've gotten it, the very first thing I've walked through and had to carry it around with me all day.

Tony Desiri:

e people buying them at like,:

Lauren Mallard:

I think it depends if you have nowhere to put it.

Lauren Mallard:

So if you have a stroller that we've found in the past that that's an excellent spot for a popcorn bucket or for a sipper so if you have something like that that you can clip it onto, go ahead and get it.

Lauren Mallard:

Get it out of the way, because they might run out some of limited things.

Lauren Mallard:

They only have so many of them.

Lauren Mallard:

Obviously, if you don't want to carry it around the whole night, just keep a watch on it, see if they still have them, and then get it before you.

Tony Desiri:

And that line does move pretty quick.

Tony Desiri:

They're pretty efficient with that as well.

Tony Desiri:

When we went to the Christmas party last year, I wanted the Nutcracker Mickey, popcorn bucket.

Tony Desiri:

The line, it was at the popcorn stand right before tomorrowland.

Tony Desiri:

It extended all the way around by the castle.

Tony Desiri:

And my wife was like, get in the line.

Tony Desiri:

And I'm like, I'm looking at the watch going, I don't.

Tony Desiri:

Popcorn time.

Tony Desiri:

What are we doing here?

Tony Desiri:

Here.

Tony Desiri:

But we got in and it was cooking, and they just go, here, go pay, get your thing.

Tony Desiri:

Go.

Tony Desiri:

Do you want popcorn in it or not?

Tony Desiri:

You can just buy it straight up and move along.

Lauren Mallard:

And, you know, the advantage if you get it early is you get your popcorn, and then a couple hours later, you can get a refill, and a couple hours later, get another refill, and then you've really gotten your money's worth.

Tony Desiri:

You've really gotten your money's worth.

Tony Desiri:

But the cool thing was, is I was carrying it around all day, and everyone was going, would you get that?

Tony Desiri:

Where'd you get that?

Tony Desiri:

I'm like, oh, yeah, it's over the kiosk over there.

Tony Desiri:

And you'll be.

Tony Desiri:

You'll find it.

Tony Desiri:

So get those.

Tony Desiri:

Just make sure you get them.

Tony Desiri:

But again, don't wait too, too long, because when they're gone, they're gone.

Tony Desiri:

They're not gonna.

Tony Desiri:

They're not gonna give it back to you.

Tony Desiri:

But again, we were just talking about how this is one of the more popular party tickets.

Tony Desiri:

There's nothing better than Christmas time.

Tony Desiri:

But, boy, they do fall great.

Lauren Mallard:

They do it nice.

Tony Desiri:

They do it great.

Tony Desiri:

All right.

Tony Desiri:

Halloween horror nights over at Universal Studios.

Tony Desiri:

This is an entirely different thing.

Tony Desiri:

This is an entirely different one.

Tony Desiri:

This is not for the faint of heart.

Tony Desiri:

No.

Lauren Mallard:

Take your little kids to this.

Lauren Mallard:

Please don't.

Tony Desiri:

No.

Tony Desiri:

This is all about Gore.

Tony Desiri:

This is all about scaring you.

Tony Desiri:

This is all about a lot of different people who are paid to be as scary as they possibly can.

Lauren Mallard:

And they do it really well, and.

Tony Desiri:

They do it great.

Tony Desiri:

They do it great.

Tony Desiri:

It is a world renowned event.

Tony Desiri:

It's that big of a deal for the people that are involved in it.

Tony Desiri:

And it's one of those kind of theme or events that builds upon itself because they do a haunted house and they find out what worked and what didn't, and they make the next one better, and they make the next one better and the next one better.

Tony Desiri:

And as the years progress, they get really, really good at this.

Tony Desiri:

Really good at this.

Lauren Mallard:

This is a really good event.

Lauren Mallard:

If you have a group of guys or a group of girls, adults, that want to go down for an extended weekend, this is a great way to do it.

Lauren Mallard:

You can do one or two days in universal studios and islands of adventure and then go to Halloween horror nights.

Lauren Mallard:

That night, just, just with the adults.

Tony Desiri:

There are five scare zones, and then there are different haunted houses that you go through.

Tony Desiri:

They, again, are really elaborate, like ghostbusters, insidious, themed, based on something that's kind of popular in pop culture at the moment.

Tony Desiri:

The ghostbusters frozen empire haunted house is you get to see the little mini marshmallows and you get to eat one of the little mini marshmallows on a s'mores.

Tony Desiri:

How cool it is.

Tony Desiri:

Very, very cool.

Tony Desiri:

They got a nice toasty marshmallow man on the chocolate and the graham crab.

Lauren Mallard:

Oh, I love it.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah.

Tony Desiri:

And again, same advice on the food.

Tony Desiri:

Know what?

Tony Desiri:

You want a lot of food items there and know what's in them, because again, we go into the spicy world when we get to Halloween time.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

So if you see something like the rocks from hell, which is just like a jalapeno cheese ball that's kind of, kind of black on the outside or anything like that, they're just a lot of, lot of spicy items, but find out what you want to do.

Tony Desiri:

And again, a lot of the advice that we've been giving on, on the not so scary Halloween party is the same.

Tony Desiri:

Have a game plan.

Tony Desiri:

You're not going to do everything that night.

Tony Desiri:

Know what houses you want to hit.

Tony Desiri:

The lines are long.

Tony Desiri:

Get into them.

Tony Desiri:

Figure out, I want to do x, y, and z, I want to hit this, this or that because you probably won't get all of it in.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

Halloween horror night.

Lauren Mallard:

One contrast to Disney's party is that for this party, they actually do sell an express pass option.

Tony Desiri:

That's right.

Lauren Mallard:

I'm not sure what all is included with that, but that is an option here if you wanted to take the most advantage of that.

Tony Desiri:

Yeah, exactly.

Tony Desiri:

So as we said earlier, the Halloween party at Disney, no lightning lanes, no nothing like that to get you ahead of things, but there you can.

Lauren Mallard:

That's right.

Tony Desiri:

Absolutely.

Tony Desiri:

Do that.

Lauren Mallard:

And this one's also done more nights out of the week.

Lauren Mallard:

It's done Wednesday through Sunday from now until October 31.

Lauren Mallard:

So it's, it's got quite a few more nights that it's going on.

Tony Desiri:

And the other thing, too, is where, as you will see at Disney, you're gonna go to a specific location to see characters.

Tony Desiri:

You're not gonna have Mickey just walking around the park or Donald walking around the park.

Tony Desiri:

You gotta go find them and wait in line.

Tony Desiri:

There are actors who are walking the parks constantly, and they're kind of jumping at you and scaring you.

Tony Desiri:

It's kind of a cool environment for that.

Tony Desiri:

I remember in the nineties, my wife and I were living in Las Vegas.

Tony Desiri:

We went down to Los Angeles for Halloween horror night, and I went to go tie my shoe, and I put my foot on a ledge, just a small ledge, and I did not realize that there was a guy covered in leaves that popped up from that, from the bed of leaves to scare me while I was tying my shoe.

Lauren Mallard:

I would have died.

Tony Desiri:

oween horror nights of, like,:

Tony Desiri:

But I think you're right.

Tony Desiri:

I remember in years ago when our kids were little, my father had the big, we had a big family reunion down in Orlando, and it was like, my brother, me, my sister, my wife, his wife, we all were like, what do we want to do tonight?

Tony Desiri:

They're going to watch the kids.

Tony Desiri:

Let's go to universal.

Tony Desiri:

So we ended up, and back then you could get tickets.

Tony Desiri:

So it wasn't like, now you better get your tickets early, right?

Tony Desiri:

But we got our tickets when we went, and it was, it was a young adult kind of a great night.

Tony Desiri:

Night of fun.

Tony Desiri:

And that's really what, that's, that, that's what you're going to get there for.

Lauren Mallard:

Sure.

Tony Desiri:

So great, great time.

Tony Desiri:

So I hope you have enjoy your time.

Tony Desiri:

Oh, that's for sure.

Tony Desiri:

You know what I mean?

Tony Desiri:

And I just want to avoid, I want people to have it where they don't come out going because it's not cheap.
