Delivery burnout in a scalable program is almost never about skill. In this episode, Tara breaks down the sequencing problem behind it: when the customer journey gets designed after the content instead of before it, the expert ends up filling every gap the design left behind, session after session. She walks through the fix in three steps: design a complete Signature Pathway™ before building content, validate it live with a real Beta Blueprint™, then build the delivery model, the Scale Engine™, around a pathway that's already proven. Steps four through six of the Infinite Scale Method™, in the order they actually work.
Tara Bryan is the creator of the Infinite Scale Method™ and host of The Scalable Expert podcast. She helps expert business owners, coaches, and consultants turn their expertise into a scalable business built on a signature framework and systems that deliver results without requiring more of their time.

Hey, everybody.
2
:Welcome to season three of The
Scalable Expert® Podcast, the show
3
:for established expert business owners
who are maxed out on time and ready to
4
:find the scalable impact of their work.
5
:I'm your host, Tara Bryan, founder
of The Scalable Expert® and creator
6
:of the INFINITE SCALE™ Method.
7
:If you've built a business around
your expertise but feel stuck
8
:in the time for money trap, this
podcast is your path forward.
9
:Each week I'll share stories and
strategies and shifts to help you
10
:step into a new scalable business
model by declaring your authority,
11
:packaging your expert framework, and
streamlining your offers and systems
12
:to ultimately become a scalable expert.
13
:Because it's not about working
harder, it's about building smarter.
14
:All you need is one signature
expert framework, and you can
15
:deliver an infinite amount of ways
to be able to scale your business.
16
:All right.
17
:Let's get started.
18
:Welcome to the Scalable Expert Podcast.
19
:I'm thrilled that you're here.
20
:I wanna talk about two different
groups of people today.
21
:The first group tried to build a scalable
program and burned out delivering it.
22
:They did the work, the content, the
platform, the launch, the cohort, the
23
:whole bit, and the delivery was more
exhausting than one-on-one ever was.
24
:It made no sense.
25
:The second group has watched someone
with a fraction of their experience
26
:launch a program at a price point
that they have not reached and
27
:completely fill it, deliver it,
without the delivery consuming them.
28
:And the thought that usually
happens, in both cases, that you
29
:may have had is, what's missing?
30
:What do they have that I don't?
31
:Today, I'm gonna tell you exactly what it
is, and it's not probably what you think.
32
:So let me start with an illustrated story.
33
:Sarah built a program that burned her out.
34
:The content was great, the customers
were getting results, the methodology
35
:was working, and yet she was
exhausted in a way that did not make
36
:sense for what she was delivering.
37
:She felt a little ashamed and
a little confused, and she
38
:should be able to do this.
39
:Other people were doing this.
40
:She had built a business.
41
:She thought, "What is wrong with me?
42
:Am I not cut out for this model?"
43
:So she went out to learn
from other experts.
44
:Their explanation: just create better
systems, better automation, better
45
:AI, better tech, build a better team.
46
:But what happened when she tried those
was the exhaustion just shifted forms.
47
:The private question no one usually
says out loud that I'm going to is,
48
:"What do they have that I don't?"
49
:Here's what I want you to hear
before I give you the answer.
50
:If this has been your experience,
the program that burned
51
:you out was not a failure.
52
:The burnout was not a character flaw.
53
:The comparison you felt watching
someone else succeed is not
54
:evidence that you're behind.
55
:All three of those experiences
are symptoms of the same thing.
56
:A sequence that the entire industry
teaches in the wrong order.
57
:And once you see the right order,
the burnout makes complete sense.
58
:It's built into the design, not into your
skill level as an expert business owner.
59
:When content comes before the
journey design, the content covers
60
:topics, but the journey is undefined.
61
:And an undefined journey has
to be filled in by something.
62
:That something is typically the expert.
63
:Every session, the delivery burns out
because you're not just delivering
64
:content, you're being the connector
between the content sessions and
65
:the design that was not built in.
66
:You are filling the gap between what
the module covers and the customer,
67
:what the customer needs to experience to
actually get the transformation in real
68
:time, every week for every customer.
69
:This is the real work that is exhausting.
70
:Not the delivery, the improvised journey
management that the design left up to you.
71
:And the other person who delivered
it without burning out, they
72
:did not have more expertise,
they had a different sequence.
73
:They delivered the journey
before they built the content.
74
:So the content served as a design
experience rather than becoming
75
:the experience by default.
76
:The sequence is the whole strategy.
77
:Build content first,
and you scale an expert.
78
:Design the journey first, and you
build a scalable expert business.
79
:So as you look at the dream of delivering
a program that creates transformation
80
:for many customers at once at a price
point that reflects your expertise
81
:without burning out in the delivery,
just believe that it is achievable.
82
:It is what the scalable delivery
system within the INFINITE SCALE
83
:Method, which is steps four through
six, is designed to produce.
84
:That sequence that produced
the burnout was wrong, not
85
:the vision or the execution.
86
:The goal is to become an expert who
gets to be present for the moments in
87
:the delivery that genuinely require
judgment, expertise, and relationship.
88
:Not being present for every
operational moment because the
89
:design left those moments undefined.
90
:You do not burn out because
you're not built for this.
91
:You burned out because the
design required you to build the
92
:plane while you were flying it.
93
:That is a design problem, and design
problems have design solutions.
94
:That's why step four of the
INFINITE SCALE™ Method is
95
:called the signature pathway.
96
:Design the complete customer journey
before creating a single piece of content.
97
:A signature pathway is not a curriculum,
it's not a module list, it's a
98
:designed experience of transformation.
99
:What does the customer have
at the end of each stage?
100
:What problem does each stage resolve?
101
:What happens when the customer
gets stuck at each point?
102
:When the journey is designed first,
the content serves the journey.
103
:Every piece of content has a
specific job in a specific moment
104
:of the customer's experience.
105
:The expert is not improvising
the journey in real time.
106
:The journey already exists.
107
:This is why the expert presence
by choice becomes possible.
108
:Once the journey is designed,
the content serves it.
109
:The expert shows up for the moments
that require expertise, not the
110
:moments that the design left blank.
111
:Once you have created your
signature pathway, it's time to
112
:test it with a proof of concept.
113
:The question this answers is
whether or not the pathway can
114
:get results for real humans.
115
:That is why step five
is the beta blueprint.
116
:Before building any delivery
infrastructure, we run the signature
117
:pathway live with a small group of
right-fit customers at a beta rate.
118
:What the beta reveals that planning
cannot is where customers actually stall,
119
:which moments produce the shift, and
what needs to be added or removed before
120
:the infrastructure is built around it.
121
:The beta blueprint produces two things.
122
:One, real customer results that
prove the journey works, and a
123
:refined signature pathway the
scalable delivery system is built on.
124
:Not theory, but proof.
125
:And then you're ready for step six,
which is actually designing the
126
:scalable delivery platform so you
can consistently deliver scalable
127
:engagement, the delivery architecture
between the done for you and on demand.
128
:Customers move through a designed
journey, the expert is present for
129
:the moments that require judgment
and expertise, and the business
130
:creates transformation in the rest.
131
:That is the exact presence
by choice in practice.
132
:Not the expert disappearing, the
expert remaining exactly where the
133
:expertise creates the most value
and the business does the rest.
134
:All right, so there you have it.
135
:Steps four through six in
the INFINITE SCALE method.
136
:How can you start to apply
this in your business?
