Scott continues the study of Matthew, discussing Matthew 27:11-26, which focuses on the theme of justice as it relates to Jesus' trial before Pilate. Scott discusses the deeply rooted injustices evident in the trial, talking about Jesus' silent demeanor in contrast to our typical defensive reactions. By exploring the role of envy in Jesus' crucifixion, he highlights how envy can evolve into hatred and violence, a progression that mirrors issues in contemporary society. Personal anecdotes and references to other biblical passages, like Matthew 10 and Psalm 73, bring these themes to life, guiding listeners toward understanding God's perspective on justice.
Scott also reflects on the nature of divine patience, noting God's endurance of injustice for a greater purpose. He addresses human tendencies to judge God's actions using limited understanding, proposing that divine plans often surpass human comprehension.

Scott Keffer [:Well, I remember growing up thinking that in our country that there was at least some places where justice seemed to reign. And now that seems like it's not even true, Whether it's in court system or the government, local or national, it just seems like there is no justice anywhere. That seemed to be the case. And so you look at that and you think, how do I think about that? How do I deal with that? And so we're gonna look at that today in justice, and we're gonna look at the greatest injustice in the history of the world. And we're gonna get some perspective, hopefully. Stay with me if you will while we read God's word together at the top of your page from Matthew 27. Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned him saying, are you the king of the Jews? Jesus said to him, it is as you'd say. And while he was being accused by the chief, he did not answer.
Scott Keffer [:And Pilate said to him, do you not hear how many things they testify against you? And he did not answer him with regard to even a single charge. So the governor was quite amazed. Now the piece, the governor was accustomed to release for the people. 1 of the prince of that one. At that time, they were holding a notorious prisoner of Barabbas. So, when the people gathered together, pilot said to them, who do you want me to release to you? Barabbas or Jesus, who is called Christ. We knew that because of envy, they had handed him over. While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message saying, I have nothing to do with that righteous man.
Scott Keffer [:For last night, I suffered greatly in a dream because of him. But the chief priest and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Parampus to put Jesus to death. And the governor said to them, which of the 2 do you want me to release for you? They said, Barabbas. Pilate said to them, then what shall I do with Jesus who was called Christ? They all said, crucify him. And he said, why? What evil has he done? They kept the dog on all the more, they crucify him. And when Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, grabbed the gun to bite the sun, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd saying, I'm innocent of this name's blood. See to that yourselves. And all the people said, his blood shall be on us and on our children.
Scott Keffer [:And he released a breakfast for them, but after having Jesus forged, he handed him over to be crucified. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Well, sometimes you read scripture often enough. You've been a Christian for a while. You miss the gravity of the situation. Right? And put yourself in the midst of this because you know the after. But if you didn't know the after, you're standing in the midst of this scene, what would you be thinking? What would you be thinking? Well, the second time that Jesus is before Pilate.
Scott Keffer [:The first time, he stood before Pilate. It said that he said nothing. In the midst of accusations, it said Jesus said nothing. How many times have you stood and been accused by a friend, by a coworker, by a boss, by your spouse of something and not said anything? Right? Everything inside of you wants to rise up. Right? You want to rise up and defend yourself even if there's nothing to defend, even when you've been wrong. Everything inside us wants to do that. Jesus said absolutely nothing. The second time, a little bit different.
Scott Keffer [:Pilate, if looking at Jesus, who's now already been beat So he's he's bloody beaten at this point in time, and he asked him this question, are you the king of the Jews? Now it doesn't tell you in scripture what he was thinking, but, certainly, there's that sense of I'm looking at you. You don't look like a king, and you're the king of the Jews. Right? There may have been a bit of sarcasm in his voice. There may have been a bit of sarcasm in his heart. Like, who are you? You don't look like a king that I would wanna serve or wanna be part. Are you the king of the Jews? And Jesus answers him, it is as you say. It is as you say. And I think about what would I have said in that situation? What would I have said? All sorts of things, of course.
Scott Keffer [:Right? I'd like, I'll call down a legion of angels. I could have done it in the garden. I could do it again here, but I don't need to defend myself. The father could defend me. I mean, all the things, but Jesus says nothing. And he hearkens back, I'm sure, to Matthew 10. He says, but when they hand you over, this is what he said to his disciples, do not worry. He says about how and what you are to say, for it will be given you as to what hour you are to say, for it is not you who speak, but it's the Spirit.
Scott Keffer [:Spirit of your father who speaks in you. So here he is in the exact situation that he spoke to them about, and they would find himself in sometime in the future. He says, god the father will give you the words. God the father will give you the words. Find yourself in a situation you don't know what to say? How do you speak? Right? What are the words? He says, ask. Just ask. God, the father, will give you the very words to speak when you find yourself in that situation. So here's Jesus' head words where it is as you say.
Scott Keffer [:It is as you say. And, of course, Pilate's standing there wondering, who is this man? And he's amazed, it says. Why? What would I have done? Extended myself? Would I have railed the pilot? Who are you? You. Right? You you despicable governor. You. Right? All of those things. Or would I beg for mercy? Usually, one of those things. So Spurgeon said, Pilate had seen and captured Jews the fierce courage of fanaticism.
Scott Keffer [:There was no fanaticism in Christ. So Pilate's confused because usually when he gets people in that situation over here, here's Jesus, not only at peace but humble before him. And he's amazed. He's shocked. He doesn't know what to do. He says he's seen as many prisoners, the meanest which they will do or say anything to escape than death. So he's wondering, who is this? Who is this Jesus? And, of course, probably gets a sense that there's no there's no darkness in him. Right? There's no evil in him.
Scott Keffer [:This is not the kind of man who should be standing before me. So he hopes for an out. He hopes for an out. He had hoped for an out when he sent him to Herod before. He was hoping for an out. Right? So, saying, you deal with him. Right now he's hoping for an out here, and he he he he says, oh, there's a prisoner at the feast. Surely, I will offer them Jesus or Barabbas.
Scott Keffer [:Barabbas wasn't just a guy in prison. He was a insurrectionist and a murderer. He had murdered in the riots. Right? So he figured that's good. The insurrectionist who had committed murder figured that's pretty good, but he knew something was up. He knew the reason that they had handed Jesus over to him. Right? It says in here, for he knew that because of envy that because of envy, they had handed him over. Can you try to imagine the envy that had gotten to the place that they wanted him killed? So I put the malicious power of envy, the malicious power of envy, starts as envy, rises to hatred, rises to money.
Scott Keffer [:Right? So envy, what's it mean? Being glad when someone experiences misfortune or pain. Being glad when someone experiences misfortune or pain. Well, I've done that. I've done that. I mean, I watched the the president's cup, and I I hope for the international team to miss and do poorly. Right? And he said, well, yeah, that's just a game. Right? But I didn't ever done that in real life where I wish something to go poorly, or I'm glad when it goes poorly for someone else. That's envy.
Scott Keffer [:Or envy's displeasure at another's good. When someone experiences good, someone who you don't feel deserves it, someone whom you don't like, someone. Right? And he says, look, rather than longing to raise oneself, but only to depress the envy to your own level, Trent says, maybe being glad when someone experiences misfortune and envy turns into hatred, hatred turns into malice. So for Peter, he says putting aside all malice and guile and hypocrisy and envy and slander. So they're all together. They're all mixed together because one starts in the heart and then it and then it works its way out. One starts in the heart and then it works its way out. And he said, you were once foolish, disobedient, deceived.
Scott Keffer [:You were enslaved to various lesson pleasure spending our life in malice and envy, spending our life people and hating one another. Well, dang. You think I'm a Christian? I've been a Christian for a while. Shouldn't that stuff be gone? No. It's still in there. Wretched man that I am is what Paul said. Wretched man that I am as I still struggle with envy in the heart. So it's good to ask ourselves, so who do you envy? Who do you envy these days? It's probably changed with the times, doesn't it? Who do you envy? I mean, you're saying I don't envy.
Scott Keffer [:Who do you envy? It's good to ask ourselves. So, Lord and it it's hard when you're in the bottle to see the label in it. So that's why my scripture says, oh lord, search me and know me. See if there's any evil way. See if there's any envious way in me. Oh, actually, there is. It's not like see if there's any. But he's saying, right, it's not the lord to see.
Scott Keffer [:Hey, by the way, check it out. Lord knows. It says he desires truth in our in inward parts. So when I ask him, Lord, show me. Like, reveal it to me. It also says that the scriptures are powerful for that. Right? They're a living word. They're living and active.
Scott Keffer [:They're sharper than any 2 edged sword. They pierce as far as the division of soul and spirit of both joints and marrow, and they're able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart, aren't they? I need to be in there regularly because I start to believe my own press. I I up my image. Right? I Facebook up my image. I get to be my own branding agency. Right? And I put out this brand, but he's saying, we need God to search our hearts. We need his word to do its work. Otherwise, we fool ourselves, don't we? Fool ourselves.
Scott Keffer [:Fake media. With that? Fake media. Yeah. We're we're our own fake media. We're worried about the fake media out there, but we're our own fake media. Who do you envy? And, Lord, wash me. Rinse me. Cleanse me.
Scott Keffer [:Right? Cleanse me. Malicious power of envy. But it's a reminder of the of the evil that's within all of us that the heart is definitely wicked and, oh, that the Lord has saved us. And it seems like the universe should come apart, and it seems because the son of God is being judged by man. The son of God and if the son of God is being judged by man, the father is being judged. God is being judged by man. A silly thought, is it not? Silly silly thought. So he said to Job, hey, Job.
Scott Keffer [:Put on your body pants. Because he says, you ask your questions. Now it's my turn. Lord says, so who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now gird up your loins like a man. Put on your depends because now it's my turn. Ask the questions. Right? Now it's my turn. And I will ask you and you instruct me, where were you when I laid the foundation of your tell me if you have understanding.
Scott Keffer [:I was with a man, and he was talking about, well, you know, the I see this. God it says God is righteous and holy, and I look at the old testament. I say, that can't that's no. He's not. I said, really? Really? He said, oh, man. No. No. He had this, do this, and I said, oh, he so I said, there only be 3 things that could be true.
Scott Keffer [:One is god is confused. He said he's holy and righteous, but he's not. So maybe he's confused. Number 2, maybe he's just lying. In which case, throw the bible out because there's no reason to read it. But if he's lying about that, then he's lying about everything. So you can't you can't just embrace the New Testament and not the Old Testament because you can't understand the New Testament if you don't understand the Old. As it's the same god.
Scott Keffer [:So I said there then the third, there's only one thing left, and that is that god's not confused. He's not lying, but I'm confused. So I I said, is it is it reasonable or is it is it crazy that the god who existed eternally so he is the blessed and only sovereign. He's the king of kings and the lord of lords. He alone possesses immortality. He dwells in unapproachable light. His dominion is everlasting, his sovereignty throughout all generations. The God who spoke into being all that exists and sustains it with his word that he would do things that I wouldn't understand.
Scott Keffer [:Is that unreasonable to think, or is it possible that I'm confused? And he said, maybe I'm confused. That's a good answer. So the idea that man would put god on the judgment seat and judge god. We put him in the scale and we weigh him out, his ways. Right? It says it says that all his ways are holy. All his ways are just. Praise the Lord. I bless the most high.
Scott Keffer [:His ways are just. All his ways are just. He said, woe to the one who quarrels with his maker. That's pretty direct. Let's see. He created you. I'm I am quarreling with the one who created me. The earth and vessel among the vessel of the earth.
Scott Keffer [:Well, the clay seed of the potter, what are you doing? Imagine. Right, I'm working on you know, I had to create a piece of furniture and the furniture says, what are you doing? Are you what are you making me? What do you what do you what do you have? Which is inherently, what right do you have to make me the way you're making? Seems silly with a piece of furniture and you're saying would be silly with those who are created. So I wonder, when do you sit in judgment of god and his ways, weighing out the ways that he's working. I look around the world and I say, what is going on? Look. I I look around the world and I say, why are you doing this this way? Right? So we have out there and we have in here too. Like, why are you doing this in my life this way? Why are you doing this in the world this way? How can you let this happen? How can you go through all those things? It's hard to think that, oh, what we're doing is weighing God out in my scale, my understanding, my my wisdom, my comprehension. When do you sit in judgment of god and his ways? So so the earth shouldn't fall apart, shouldn't it? That man is judging god or even even faints to judge god. I'm gonna put god on the scale and see how he weighs.
Scott Keffer [:So it's good to know when do I do that? And do I do that? Might put on there too often. Too often. Usually, I can answer that when I don't like the way it's playing out or when I don't like how it's playing out right now. Right? When I'm in the middle of the story. In some stories, I'll never understand. Right? Some stories I'll never understand. And yet in the midst of this this hubris, this arrogance, this believing that you have the authority to do this, god remains merciful even to Pilate. What's he do with Pilate? He sent a dream to his wife who then goes to him and says, have nothing to do with this man.
Scott Keffer [:Have nothing to do with this man. Pilate should have listened to his wife. So I put a merciful message, a warning. It's a merciful message. Merciful message of warning to Pilate. Got nothing to do with that man. But pilot proceeds on, we now begin to witness the unfolding of the greatest injustice in history, the greatest injustice in history. It's hard to imagine too.
Scott Keffer [:You start to experience it. You see our justice system today is now an injustice system. And, clearly, right, just in the face of wrong calling right wrong and wrong right and not not even caring, that there's injustice going on. And it says, this is the judgment. You already said it. The light has come, and men love the darkness rather than the light. And now we see it, don't we? Men love darkness rather than light. So injustice.
Scott Keffer [:Well, we see religious injustice. We see religious injustice. We see that. The leaders the the religious leaders stir the crowd to respond like this. The religious leaders. Gee, is there injustice in religious systems today? In all of them. Right? Protestant, Catholic, all denominations, you see it. There is injustice among leaders, believers and unbelievers.
Scott Keffer [:There is injustice. Right? We stirred the crowd. Pilate said, I'm innocent. I'm innocent of this man's blood. But the innocent? Heck no. Heck no. So we see civil injustice. Civil injustice.
Scott Keffer [:Government. Right? The government lies directly to your face. They're caught lying. They don't nobody cares anymore. Nobody cares. It doesn't really matter. You have civil injustice. You have the court injustice.
Scott Keffer [:The immediate justice. Nobody cares anymore. It doesn't really matter. Right? Even when they're called out, they don't care. Nobody cares. Similar justice. And then the crowd gets whipped up and they cry out, who are you gonna choose? You're gonna choose Jesus, the messiah, or you're gonna choose the murderer? You couldn't write it, could you, with a story like this? Well, there's no way that the people would be on board with this. Right? If the people knew they wouldn't be on board with this, no.
Scott Keffer [:They chose Barabbas. What do we do with Jesus? Crucify him. So social injustice, not the kind that they talk about these days. This is actual injustice where the crowd wants the. We have day over there, rowdy in the corner. And then the the the one state I mean, there's a there's there there are number of things in here that should shock us. From, the crowd yells, to crucify him, to his blood shall be on our hands and our children. His blood calling down literally the wrath of God upon them.
Scott Keffer [:Think about it. They chose the blood of their own guilt and not the cleansing blood of Christ. Blood of their own guilt. So when you look at that scene, you look around today and think, are things really that different? They're not. Not anymore unjust than this. In fact, not as unjust. If this happened to the innocent one, the son of god and the son of man, the one in whom there was no darkness, who was light, who's pure and holy and righteous and good. What do you think? What do you think? Then it proceeds.
Scott Keffer [:The innocent son of God is publicly scourged. Physical pain to not sat through the, the price movie, the Mel Gibson movie. What's that we call? It was hard it was hard to watch when it I mean, it's just it was he just left. Stunning. Right? Stunning. Right? This physical pain was to designed to provide the deepest physical pain up to the point of death that he might kill him. So the Jews, you could do that. You can last 39 times.
Scott Keffer [:With the Romans, there was no maximum. He's still might kill him. So the the guard or whoever was administering it go as far as they want it. Right? And you're literally bound to a post, so you get maximum exposure. They strip you naked, and they bind you to a post, and then they just impale you. And it's not just with latches, it's sticks and and metal beads and sharp whatever it is to just cause the most amount of pain. So physical pain, but it's also designed at the the core of that for humiliation. It's designed for public humiliation to make you look like a fool and to put fear into the people.
Scott Keffer [:So today, we don't scourge people, but if you disagree with them, you scourge them publicly. You just wanna make sure don't ever don't ever come up against us because we're gonna scourge you publicly. So there's this pain and humiliation that goes on. And this is the son of God. Again, who could have called on legions of angels, who could have himself been out of that. Right? And said he endured the cross, despising the shames. So hard to even imagine or comprehend, but it it shows you the depth to me, it shows the depth of evil in the hearts of men, definitely be able. And it also shows you the the core essence of Satan himself.
Scott Keffer [:Corey, he comes to kill and steal and destroy. And at the end, it says these folks are held captive by the evil one. And you see in this kind of inhuman treatment of humans, you see the nature of Satan, which is just kill, steal, destroy. Right? You see that nature. So I said, lord, I don't wanna talk about this way. Right? It doesn't seem uplifting, and it doesn't seem encouraging. It just what do I do with that? Right? What do I do with that? Because I think of, you know, when I pray these days, I think about, Lord, all that's going on, Lord, catch them in their own traps. Right? Traps are set and let light bring to dark you know, bring into darkness and all that stuff.
Scott Keffer [:And the Lord reminds me, I'm at work. I'm doing something that you don't necessarily understand. So I I put on there, Lord, I don't know what to say about this, but how do we square ourselves with the pain and the injustice in this world? How do you square yourself with it? Well, we're hoping that he's gonna ride in on the white horse. Right? Gandalf's gonna show up at right the right time and say it comes deep. Right? And he's and right? We think that's gonna happen. That's gonna happen. Well, I have to remind myself of a number of things. It says that this man, Jesus, was delivered over.
Scott Keffer [:He was delivered over on a silver platter. Literally, he was handed over. He was handed over by what? Pre determined plan and the foreplanning and foreknowledge of God. He was handed over. This was not a, a a random out of control event, although it felt random and out of control. So he was handed over according to the sovereign plan of God. The sovereign plan of God. I have to remind myself because that seems to be what the Lord says.
Scott Keffer [:Your purpose in all teaching is to remind people that God is sovereign reign. He is sovereign reign. He reigns. He reigns. But it doesn't seem like it. It doesn't make sense. He reigns. And this is the sovereign plan of God, the father and God, the son, and God the spirit.
Scott Keffer [:It's unity among the trinity on the sovereignty of God in the plan to hand over the son, to deliver over the son. It says he was pierced. He was pierced. He was pierced through for our transgressions. But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed. He, Jesus was Christ for our inequities. The chastening for our well-being that fell upon him.
Scott Keffer [:And by his scourging, we are healed. We are healed. Jesus endured it for our good. For our good. The son of God endured the pain and the humiliation for our good, our transgressions, our inequities, our well-being, our healing. So Jesus endured it for our good. Hard to believe. Hard to believe.
Scott Keffer [:Scarcely, it's said in Roman, would a man die for a good time? Right? The righteous dying for the unrighteous. Well, it says we don't have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses. But the one who has been tempted in all things as we are yet without sin. Therefore, let us draw near to God with confidence. Right? Let us draw near to God with confidence to the throne of grace so we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. So when you're going through pain, we need to know Jesus knows the pain. He knows the pain. I don't know about you, but I'm a wimp.
Scott Keffer [:I hate pain. I hate I hate it. I wanna numb all my pain. Right? Jesus doesn't just theoretically know pain. He experienced pain. He endured pain, more pain than we whatever. Right? He's tempted beyond without sin. So in the midst of it, he knows our pain, and he's available.
Scott Keffer [:Right? So go to him for for mercy and for grace. Go to him for mercy and for grace. He endured. He can help you endure. Jesus knows the pain of this world. So we have the son. The son endured it for good. The son knows pain, and he's available for mercy and grace.
Scott Keffer [:And then let's talk about the father. Let's think about it. Right? Son is enduring this. The father is attending it, who's superintending it. He's he's not only watching it. He's orchestrating it. So it says, what if god, the father, although willing to demonstrate his wrath and to make his power known? What's that mean? He could step in any time. He could step in any time and bring instantaneous justice.
Scott Keffer [:That's his wrath. His wrath is justice. Right? He could he could show his justice by bringing justice instantaneously to all those who were guilty. And you could show his power to do that, but it says, although he's willing to demonstrate that, he endured with much patience. So the father is enduring, not bringing justice, watching this occur and all things occur that are unjust, unjust. Right? And he waits. What does he wait for? He did so to make known the riches of his glory upon vessels of mercies, which he prepared beforehand for glory. That's us.
Scott Keffer [:So god the father endures injustice. He endures the injustice for our good. God the father endures the injustice. I read this and I thought, I don't think I ever thought about that. Right? If you look around the world and you think the injustice, bring about justice, mostly because it bothers me or it's inconvenient for me or the injustice makes life harder for me. If I think about, well, all this injustice is just gonna where's the future? What's it gonna be? Right? Didn't think about the fact that the father endures injustice. He endures it. He says he endures it for us, for vessels of mercy, for vessels of mercy.
Scott Keffer [:He endures the injustice for our good. Again, Jesus endures for our good. The father endures for our good, and he endures injustice. So you look around and you go, what's up, Lord? What's up? What's up? So in Psalm 73, it's a great reminder where they look around the world and they say, well, look at these people who are wicked. How come they're doing so well? How come you don't bring about your justice about Soros and the others who are scheming and doing evil stuff. Right? Followed by name. Well, it says, they mock and wickedly speak of oppression. They speak from on high.
Scott Keffer [:Is that them? He says they say, how does God know? Right? That seems to be the case. There is no God. They're not gonna call me. Right? People acting. When I ponder to understand this, he said, it was troublesome in my sight. Help me say that's true. Now he said, if you stay there, he said, I came close to stumbling. In other words, when I stayed in my thoughts, when I stayed in that position, when I looked at the world, when I looked at the wicked, why they were prospering, I was troubled.
Scott Keffer [:But he said until, underline until. Until what? I came where? Into the sanctuary of God, the place where God reigns. He reigns everywhere. Most of the time, oh lord, thy kingdom come, thy will be done. Right? So he goes in there into the sanctuary of God. Then he says, oh, I get it. You're on your throne. Justice will be served.
Scott Keffer [:Justice will be served either at the cross or in eternal judgment. Either at the cross, everyone will pay. There is there is nobody gets off. Nobody gets off. So then he said, my flesh and my heart, they fail. They may fail. So he said, god is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. He's the strength of my heart.
Scott Keffer [:I mean, their heart strengthened. So he says, if you stay in that position where all you're doing is thinking about the wicked and what they're doing and how they seem to be having their way, he says, then you will come close to stumbling. Indeed, what do I need to do? Come, be before me, be with me. So I put it there. The father knows the pain of injustice. Not like you're crying out to one who doesn't understand the pain of injustice. Why? He he delivered his son over into the hands of wicked men to carry out his eternal purpose and watch his son be scorched, be counted guilty when he was innocent. But I said go to him for perspective, first of all, but more importantly, supernatural strength.
Scott Keffer [:We need supernatural strength, don't we? Supernatural strength. 11 Isaiah 40, he said to them, to who so to whom then will you like in me that I should be his equal? God says, the holy one of Israel says, okay. Who are you likening me to that I should be his equal? And he said, why do you say, oh, Jacob and Assert, oh, Israel, my way is hidden from the lord and underline the justice do me. What a funny thing. The justice do me. Escapes the notice oh my god. What does that phrase mean? What's he saying? Life's not fair. Where are you? How come you don't step in? It doesn't seem right.
Scott Keffer [:Yeah. Where's where's the injustice? How many thought that? Because your situation you look at other people's situation, you go, wait a minute. Where's the justice? So I love I love when the lord asked the questions. He said, so you ask the question, let me ask. Do you not know? Have you not heard the everlasting god, Yahweh, the creator of the ends of the earth? He does not become weary or tired. His wisdom, his understanding is inscrutable, which means beyond criticism, beyond your weighing it in the balance and coming to the conclusion that it makes sense or it doesn't make sense. His wisdom, his understanding is perfect. It's inscrutable.
Scott Keffer [:And he says, by the way, he gives strength to the weary. If you think where is god, is he? Maybe he's tired. Maybe he's away. Maybe he's missed this. Right? He's saying, right, it's gonna fight. And he said, no. He gives strength to the weary. And to him who lacks might, he increases power.
Scott Keffer [:He increases power. And he says, okay. Though though you scour weary and tired and vigorous, young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord call upon him, lean into him, trust him, stand upon his promises. Right? All the all the pictures of what does it mean to wait, they will gain new strength New strength as in you didn't have it before, as in grace, as in supernatural provision of a strength that is not your own and that you didn't have. They will gain new strength, and they will mount up with wings like eagles. They will walk. They will run and not become tired. They will walk and not become weary.
Scott Keffer [:They will have a new strength for those who wait upon the Lord. So so the father knows, go to him for perspective. Again, my perspective right. And also to get gain supernatural strength. It's easy to forget when the world seems out of whack or unjust that god is supernatural, that his power extends overall, and his power is available for us not to fix the situation often, but he gave us the strength to rise up, to endure. And he said, not just endure, but you'll rise up with wings like eagles. Right? You'll run and not grow tired. You'll walk and not become weary.
Scott Keffer [:Those who wait on the Lord. So how do we square ourselves? We have to remember that God is sovereign Right. Reign, and he has a plan. And that Jesus endured it for good, and he's available for mercy and grace. That the father endures injustice for our good, and he's available for perspective and supernatural strength. But as for me, the nearness of god is my good in Psalm 73. I have made the Lord God my refuge that I may tell of all thy wonders. But as for me, the nearness of God, heart and strength may fail may fail.
Scott Keffer [:So he's available. How do we square ourselves to get our eyes fixed in the right place? To rise on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith who in who endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God, resets in the place to intercede on our behalf and to be available for us. So, we square ourselves, square our vision, fix our eyes. Alright. Write down insight application. Well, Tim, would you close us in prayer, please?
Speaker C [:Heavenly father, we are so thankful and grateful this morning that you are the strength of our hearts, that you, father, are the one who provides, grace and mercy in our lives. And that as we think about, certainly injustice in the world, but then the injustice that your son, your one and only son went through on our behalf for us. Father, we're humbled and we're, grateful and and without speech to be able to even express what that means to us. So, father, we pray today that you'll take these truths and then just penetrate them into our hearts. Father, help us to live and follow after you in a way that pleases you. And we pray all this in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.
Scott Keffer [:Amen. May the god who sent his son and the son who came. May he bless you. May he keep you. May he cause his face to shine upon you. May he lift up his countenance and grant you deep peace, shalom to your soul as you walk under his sovereign power and authority this day and every day till he comes again. Amen? Amen.
Scott Keffer [:Thanks for listening. I hope you have greater hope, assurance, and confidence in your life and a deeper trust in the god of the bible and his son, Jesus Christ. Until next time, may the lord bless you and keep you. May the lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. And may the lord lift up his countenance on you and give you his peace, his shalom in your soul and in your life. Until next time, may god bless you and keep you.
