Hello happiness seekers, My name is Klaudia Mitura. Welcome back. This is Alphabet of happiness 26 day post.
Each day I'm sharing a quick science backed happiness tip one for every letter from A to Z as we count down to the big book launch party at the Science Museum in London on October 31st. I'm so excited that my new book, the Alphabet of Happiness is finally launching and today is the tenth letter. Hey round number. We love round numbers.
And it's J for jokes which is all about healing with laughter and putting others at ease.
I personally love laughing a lot and when I go to watch live comedy shows, which I do quite often, I often get moved to be at the front because the comedian knows that the laughter is contagious and I find it truly fascinating that it doesn't matter who we laugh at or what jokes we find funny, we laugh just at the right time without consciously thinking of it. And this is because laughter is absolutely instinctive behavior that is programmed by our genes.
I found that like mind blowing why on earth we have evolved with this ability to find things funny and it actually turned down.
That's and actually if you look into this part there, it's because genuinely laughing for a period of time is just incredible experience for our body.
Our body experiences a boost of endorphins which lead to positive physical effects when we are lifting our mood and overall happiness that helps us our mind to cope with difficult situations that overcome lots of negative experiences and we even able to concentrate for long on repetitive tasks. Using humor is also incredible tool to strengthen and enhance our social connections by bonding with others.
So really the list of benefits when it comes to laughter is endless. And in the Alphabet of Happiness I explore different types of humors, different type of humor that we may have and how to use it to bond with people.
But for today I just would love you to prescribe yourself some laughter.
Simply laugh for 10 minutes continually to harvest the benefits of the laughter for your mental health, your physiological health and for your social connections. I know that suggestion sounds a little bit wild, but why not? I really hope you will try it and thank you so much for listening.
