“Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.”
How to Pray According to God’s Will pt 4
We have been studying about praying according to God’s Will. Do you want to see something that a lot of Christians miss? Stick with me…
John 15:7 says you will have whatsoever you will, but only under a special condition. Do you remember we covered this a few days ago? That condition is “If you abide in Jesus and His Word abides in you.” Amen! When God’s Word abides in you, that means it is ALIVE in you.
When God’s Word is ALIVE in you, then you absolutely know what God’s will is in any matter. His Word IS His Will – we studied that a week or so ago.
So, when you ask something according to the Word of God, then you are automatically asking for it according to God’s Will. Amen! That means you do not have to pray, “if it be thy will…” nonsense.
For example, we know it is God’s will that the lost be saved, right? How do we know that? Because God’s Word tells us so. We can read it in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Isn’t that what it says?
We also can read in 2 Peter 3:9 that “The Lord is not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to everlasting life.”
There are a host of other scriptures that say basically the same thing. Right?
So, you do not have to wonder; you do not have to pray or ask God, “Lord, if is your will to save my husband or daughter or grandchild – then please save them.” No – we already KNOW it is His will to save them. You don’t have to pray, “If it be thy will” to save ANYBODY!
You absolutely KNOW it is His Will to save EVERYBODY because we have His Word on it, right?
Now, back to 1 John 5:14, “and this is the confidence that we have in HIM, that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us…”
Let that soak in for a moment…
“This is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
Did God hear you when you prayed for your loved one to be saved? Yes.
Is it God’s will for every person to be saved? Yes.
Didn’t you pray according to God’s Word for your loved one to be saved? Yes.
If that’s the case, then did you pray according to God’s WILL for your loved one to be saved?
Then you should have the CONFIDENCE that HE HAS HEARD YOU and that, what?
1 John 5:15 “and if we KNOW He has heard us, whatsoever we ask, we KNOW that WE HAVE the petition we have desired of Him.”
In other words, if you ask according to the Word, it is according to God’s Will and He has heard you and He has GUARANTEED that YOU RECEIVE WHAT YOU ASK FOR!
Oh, I could go on and on with this topic… over in Mark 11:22-24…but we are all out of time for today…
