Shownotes

It's been a while since I've done a solo episode, and I'm thrilled to be here today to talk about a fascinating topic: coincidences and pets. While some may think that coincidences have no significance in the realm of animals, I believe there's more to it than meets the eye.

Coincidences often occur because we humans seek meaning and connection in life. Our pets, on the other hand, are always in tune with the oneness of life, effortlessly connected to the source. They don't need signs or affirmations to assure them that everything is going as it should. When coincidences involving animals happen, it's usually because we humans are recognizing or acknowledging something.

In this episode I talk about:

  • How animals are perceptive and connected to us.

  • Animals that exhibit behaviors or traits reminiscent of past pets who have passed away

  • Deceased animals connecting us with new animals

  • A heartwarming true-story movie that defies randomness emphasizing the purpose and meaning behind events in our lives

Rev Karen:

.1st of all, he was listening to us.

2

:

You might think they're asleep,

but they're always listening.

3

:

But number 2, he knew what

we were talking about.

4

:

And he had the realization at that moment

that Julie was going to be leaving.

5

:

Hello and welcome to the

Connectedness Podcast.

6

:

Just as you might have guessed, I talk

about connection and connectedness

7

:

on this podcast, our connection with

everything in the world around us.

8

:

Whether you see it or not, we're all

connected, and it doesn't matter if it's

9

:

our dog, our cat, our God, our body.

10

:

And I'll also talk about some more.

11

:

Abstract connections like our career or

our land, our community, our emotions,

12

:

your body, life is all about connection.

13

:

So the sooner we recognize

that, the sooner we can have an

14

:

easier, more meaningful life.

15

:

I will talk about these connections

through different lenses.

16

:

Things like synchronicities

and coincidences are just.

17

:

It's really important that we pay

attention to all of this so we can

18

:

live an easier, more meaningful life.

19

:

So welcome to the show.

20

:

I'm your host, Karen Cleveland.

21

:

HEllo, everyone.

22

:

Welcome back to the show.

23

:

It is so great to be here.

24

:

I have not done a solo

episode for a long time.

25

:

I had some travel.

26

:

I had some family.

27

:

Things come up and so I haven't

actually been in on an episode by myself

28

:

without a guest in a very long time.

29

:

And I'm really glad to be here because

I've been wanting to talk about this

30

:

and that's about coincidences and pets.

31

:

And we might think pets, there's

no significance and coincidences.

32

:

We might think that that

comes up with our animals.

33

:

And certainly I would say.

34

:

Our animals don't actively intend

to participate in coincidences, and

35

:

I'll have some stories that we'll

talk about this, but because we're

36

:

humans, and we're the ones that look

to find meaning in life, we are the

37

:

ones that experience the coincidences.

38

:

Coincidences might be like a nod from

God, a wink from the universe that

39

:

things are going well, but, and the

animals don't need to look for that.

40

:

So the animals are always, how should

I say with God, with source, they're

41

:

always, in that mode that they are in

the connection with, with all, with one.

42

:

And so they don't require

affirmation that things are going

43

:

the way they should be going.

44

:

So, when coincidences with animals

it's generally because we humans are.

45

:

Recognizing something or looking

to acknowledge something on

46

:

my show of episode 46, I had

squire rational on the show.

47

:

He's the creator producer of the

God wink series on Hallmark movies.

48

:

He's written many books.

49

:

He's also had, similar movies

on Netflix, rescued by Ruby,

50

:

which is a fantastic story.

51

:

1, I'll talk about in a few minutes

he talks about God wings and with him.

52

:

and I hope I, I get this right, but

he believes they are winks from God.

53

:

When a coincidence happens,

it's a wink from God that.

54

:

That's, you know,

something is going, right?

55

:

We're on the right path or

we're in the right direction or

56

:

something to acknowledge something

that we've been looking for.

57

:

If you were to look at, the

Cambridge dictionary definition of a

58

:

coincidence, they talk about it being,

2 events happening at the same time

59

:

that are unlikely and surprising.

60

:

Supposedly to random events that happen,

and it looks like there might be a

61

:

causation, but, you know, scientifically,

we know that there's not a causation

62

:

behind these two events and maybe not

scientifically, but that's where I want

63

:

to add coincidences for the most part,

are some kind of sign from the universe

64

:

or our higher self or source that, that

give us a sign, give us an indication

65

:

of something that we need to know.

66

:

so that's kind of what coincidences are.

67

:

I don't have a hard and

fast definition what it is.

68

:

But we recognize them because we're the

humans and we're the ones that aren't

69

:

always connected with this source, with

this, you know, great essence of life.

70

:

and so I think coincidences

help us establish that we are

71

:

part of this oneness of life.

72

:

I want to start with a

story about my dog buddy.

73

:

And this was when my.

74

:

Kids were teenagers.

75

:

Well, I guess my daughter was

a senior in high school getting

76

:

ready to go away to college.

77

:

And at that time, Buddy had been

with the family about five years.

78

:

So he knew us well, he knew our language.

79

:

he knew about our family unit.

80

:

My daughter and I were having this

conversation about her moving to

81

:

college and her being in her apartment.

82

:

Now I want to preface this by

saying my son had moved out.

83

:

Or maybe in and out at that point.

84

:

I'm not sure, but he had

graduated two years before, so he

85

:

probably wasn't living at home.

86

:

And one thing about family pets, when

they are, are raised with children that

87

:

go through high school and then leave

the house often after the children

88

:

leave the house, they become depressed

or they have a sense of loss because

89

:

their life changes dramatically the

kids that, you know, played with

90

:

them that maybe slept with them.

91

:

That might have taken care

of them are suddenly gone.

92

:

And all that's left is

the mom and or the dad.

93

:

And the parents often don't have

the time for the dog, or the cat, or

94

:

the horse that that the child did.

95

:

as an animal communicator.

96

:

I get a lot of phone calls from people

whose animals are not the same after the

97

:

kids have left and, and this is why it's

because all of a sudden the house is

98

:

empty and life is completely different.

99

:

So, not only is it different

for the parents, you know, this

100

:

whole empty nest syndrome, it

can affect the animals as well.

101

:

Just depends on the

dynamics of the family.

102

:

Anyhow, so my son was already gone.

103

:

And my daughter and I were having

this conversation and I remember it

104

:

very well because this was before

I was an animal communicator.

105

:

I was just beginning to get in

touch with animal communication

106

:

and my spiritual side and my

understanding of how the world works.

107

:

we were sitting in the living room and

buddy was on his bed very close to us.

108

:

and the way my daughter and I

were sitting, I could see buddy.

109

:

He was like almost directly

behind my daughter.

110

:

So, you know, if I was looking

at her, I could see him as well.

111

:

and my daughter said something to the

effect of when I'm living in my apartment.

112

:

And at that very moment, but he

lifted his head and looked at her

113

:

as if to say, what do you mean when

you're living in your apartment?

114

:

1st of all, he was listening to us.

115

:

You might think they're asleep,

but they're always listening.

116

:

But number 2, he knew what

we were talking about.

117

:

And he had the realization at that moment

that Julie was going to be leaving.

118

:

Now, that seemed like a coincidence.

119

:

And I actually talked

with my daughter about it.

120

:

I'm like, did you see what just happened?

121

:

It's like, he's listening to us now.

122

:

I know he was, but at the time I

thought, wow, what a weird coincidence.

123

:

Why did he raise his head?

124

:

Why did he look at you like that?

125

:

That's a weird thing going on.

126

:

So what I want to say about this

is that It's not a coincidence.

127

:

He lifted his head and

looked at her at that moment.

128

:

he knew what was going on and

he knew what she was saying.

129

:

And sometimes we don't realize how

much animals are picking up on.

130

:

Like I said, he lived with us.

131

:

He knew our language.

132

:

He knew all about our family.

133

:

one of the biggest things I teach

is how animals understand us.

134

:

It's not necessarily the language

that they're understanding.

135

:

None of them come in knowing or intending

to learn the English language or any other

136

:

language, but the universal language of

how they communicate with each other.

137

:

So it didn't necessarily matter what.

138

:

My daughter's words were he knew what

she was talking about by the pictures

139

:

that were being created in her head.

140

:

when we think it's a coincidence that an

animal seems to understand us, it's only

141

:

because we aren't paying attention to.

142

:

Either what we're saying or thinking

or expecting or what others are

143

:

and what's going on in the room.

144

:

What's the energy of the room?

145

:

And what would be a normal expectation

for an animal in that situation?

146

:

So, it seemed like a coincidence,

but now that I know what I know

147

:

about animal communication and about

life and about how things happen,

148

:

I know it wasn't a coincidence.

149

:

I know he was.

150

:

I know he understood what was coming,

that's just one kind of coincidence

151

:

you might see in an animal is that they

react to what you're saying or doing.

152

:

And you think, wow, that's

quite a coincidence.

153

:

But it's not, they know what's going on.

154

:

There's another kind of coincidence

that sometimes one animal is acting

155

:

like one of our previous animals.

156

:

Shortly after buddy died, I

was house sitting for someone

157

:

and she had three dogs.

158

:

I had known these dogs for

about three years at that point.

159

:

So I knew the dogs pretty well and I knew

what their behaviors were or were not.

160

:

And when I was outside with one of

them, one of them, had the exact

161

:

same behavior that Betty had.

162

:

Now, I had never seen this in her

before, and I thought, oh, that's weird,

163

:

I've never noticed that she did that.

164

:

after the owner came home and I was

talking to her about it, I said, I

165

:

never knew that your dog did this

buddy used to do that all the time.

166

:

And she said, no, my dog doesn't do that.

167

:

She's never done that.

168

:

And what I've learned again, since then,

after studying, , animal communication

169

:

and studying other things, I've learned

that our dogs, our cats, our animals

170

:

that are in spirit form that have

already passed over will sometimes come

171

:

back to an animal that's with us alive.

172

:

And it's like, uh, it's like

a, a, a jump in real fast.

173

:

They will just jump in, exhibit

this behavior just to let us

174

:

know, hey, I'm still here for you.

175

:

So.

176

:

What she helped me to know is that

that was buddy coming through for you.

177

:

That was just buddy saying,

Hey, I'm still here.

178

:

we're still connected.

179

:

I still love you.

180

:

one of the things people ask me all

the time as a, as a client at an

181

:

animal communication appointment

is, is this my dog reincarnated?

182

:

Has my cat come back into this cat?

183

:

Because every now and then.

184

:

I see this exact same behavior

that the past on animal had.

185

:

And it's not necessarily reincarnation.

186

:

I'm not going to say that it's never

reincarnation, but it's usually just

187

:

the animal coming back, checking in.

188

:

Hey, I'm still here.

189

:

I still love you.

190

:

And it's usually within

probably a year or two.

191

:

Of the animal passing, but

it can happen at any time.

192

:

And then beyond that, then maybe we can

look at something about reincarnation,

193

:

but, but the coincidences, like my

dog used to shake his head exactly

194

:

a certain way, or used to, eat by

licking the bowl first and then eating,

195

:

or used to lay down a certain way.

196

:

So it's an unusual behavior that when

you see it in another animal, you go,

197

:

Oh my gosh, that's such a coincidence,

but it's not, it's not a coincidence.

198

:

It is a coincidence.

199

:

But it's not random.

200

:

I don't mind calling it a coincidence,

but I'm going to say it's not

201

:

random and it's not unexpected.

202

:

Anytime there's a connection between

you and another animal, you and another

203

:

person, by the way, it could happen

with people too, but anytime there's,

204

:

there's that connection and maybe you're,

maybe you're not expecting a sign.

205

:

So maybe it is unexpected,

but it's not random.

206

:

It's very intentional to say, okay.

207

:

It's okay to say, Hey, I'm

here and everything's okay.

208

:

There's other stories of

coincidences with pets too.

209

:

So I read stories about

coincidences all the time.

210

:

I talk to people about coincidences

because they're fascinating and

211

:

I love having the affirmation of

something greater than us saying.

212

:

It's okay, or this is the one.

213

:

there's a couple who have a dog,

their beloved dog, their dog dies.

214

:

And so they donate everything from

the dog, you know, the dog bed

215

:

and clothing and everything and

they, they continue in their lives

216

:

without a dog for quite a while.

217

:

But I think it's about 7 years later,

they decided it's time to get another dog.

218

:

So, they go to a local rescue and at that

particular rescue, there's been a dog

219

:

that has been there for quite a while.

220

:

The dog was not well, um, socially

well adjusted or well, it was not

221

:

socially doing well with, with people.

222

:

So, He wasn't getting adopted out and I

want to say the dog had been there like

223

:

two years, The couple comes in and sees

this dog And the dog comes right up to

224

:

them, very friendly to them, loves them.

225

:

They love the dog, in the, during the

adoption process, during the paperwork

226

:

process, the woman says, well, I knew

that was my dog right away because

227

:

he's wearing my dog's handkerchief.

228

:

And she takes out a picture.

229

:

Of her dog that had passed

and showed that that was the

230

:

handkerchief that they had donated.

231

:

Now, that seems like it could be

random, you know, but this was a

232

:

long time after they donated it.

233

:

How would that handkerchief

even still be there?

234

:

And why would that dog have not.

235

:

Reacted that way to anyone else, certainly

there had to be something going on behind

236

:

the scenes, as we say, to help that

woman know that was the dog for them.

237

:

Now, I've never talked

with them personally.

238

:

I don't know if they've gone on to think

that maybe this is a reincarnation or to,

239

:

to know if there's any more likenesses

between this dog and their other dog, or

240

:

if their dog simply helped to orchestrate.

241

:

This is the next dog for you, and this

is how you're going to know, because

242

:

I do believe that can happen.

243

:

And if you've ever had it happen in your

life, you're going to understand that,

244

:

that they can help orchestrate things.

245

:

Our animals want us to be happy.

246

:

never have I had an animal

say after they passed.

247

:

No, I don't ever want

them to get another one.

248

:

I want them to be stuck

on me the whole time.

249

:

And I'll be jealous if

they get another one.

250

:

They're not like that after they pass.

251

:

They want us to be happy.

252

:

They really want us to be happy.

253

:

So anyhow, so this unadoptable

dog gets adopted wearing the same

254

:

handkerchief that their previous dog had.

255

:

that one kind of gives

shivers up and down the spine.

256

:

so, so there's the coincidences of yes.

257

:

When they're listening to you and

you don't understand that they're

258

:

listening or that they understand.

259

:

There's the coincidences where your

passed on animal is checking in

260

:

through another animal with you.

261

:

There's the coincidences where they're

helping to orchestrate something.

262

:

And then I want to talk about

the story rescued by Ruby.

263

:

You Netflix if it's still available.

264

:

It's it's an amazing story that I don't

think I can give away the entire story.

265

:

I mean, I can't give away the entire

story, but it's, it's an amazing story

266

:

of coincidence and it's impossible to be

random and I'm just going to start with.

267

:

it's a dog who is also.

268

:

Mostly unadoptable, and they're

going to have to get rid of the dog.

269

:

The shelter is going to

have to get rid of the dog.

270

:

Um, this woman wants to

give it one more chance.

271

:

She knows that this dog has

something in her somewhere.

272

:

And she's like, just let me

give her one more chance.

273

:

finally, she does get adopted.

274

:

The new owner struggles with her.

275

:

you're going to have to watch the

movie, the coincidence between the

276

:

person who saved her at the shelter

who adopted her, who trained her.

277

:

And then what happens that ties

them all together at the end?

278

:

I mean, it's, it's a seemingly impossible.

279

:

Story that could happen randomly.

280

:

And again, it's just another example

that there's more to our lives than

281

:

we might be paying attention to.

282

:

And.

283

:

If we start paying attention

to these coincidences, start

284

:

paying attention to your animals.

285

:

What kind of signs are

you seeing from them?

286

:

Because they can display.

287

:

Signs from God, just as easy as, something

outside or a person on the street or

288

:

a sign in a window, I'd love to hear

your stories about your animals and

289

:

how they have, how there's been some

kind of seemingly random occurrence

290

:

with them that just seemed a little too

much to be random because we are one.

291

:

I would love for you to go

to rev care and podcast.

292

:

com and put in the box right there

on the front page, your story of

293

:

coincidence with your animals.

294

:

I'd love to hear from you.

295

:

And if you want to be on the

show and talk about it, then we

296

:

can possibly arrange that too.

297

:

But I'd love to hear these stories

because the more we hear them.

298

:

The more we understand that we're not

strange, that the things we're picking

299

:

up on are not out of this world, like

unusual and we're not, we haven't lost it.

300

:

Right.

301

:

So it's normal.

302

:

It's completely normal.

303

:

We just need to learn to recognize

and, and help ourselves understand that

304

:

there's, you know, some meaning behind

these seemingly random coincidences.

305

:

because I don't believe

that they're random.

306

:

So look for those in your animals today.

307

:

Let me know what you find and I look

forward to connecting again later.

308

:

Bye bye.
