iPhone Microphone-3: Hello there.
2
:And welcome back to the pod.
3
:And this episode, we were talking
about the three things that you
4
:should consider before moving
your email marketing platform.
5
:So I have been on almost every email
marketing platform you can think of.
6
:I love to softwares, which I
used to love to software switch.
7
:I do not anymore.
8
:And it will tell you in this episode,
what I use, because I know everybody wants
9
:to know what everybody else is using.
10
:But it doesn't really matter,
but anyways, we'll get into that.
11
:So, like I said, I've been on almost every
email marketing platform you can think of.
12
:I started on MailChimp don't at me.
13
:Okay.
14
:Do not judge me.
15
:I was a young business owner.
16
:That's all.
17
:I knew MailChimp.
18
:Is not great for a coaching business for
many reasons, but I think a lot of us
19
:know this by now, or I've moved past that.
20
:I've been a MailChimp.
21
:I've been on MailerLite.
22
:I was on Kajabi as email.
23
:I was on Kartra when I was on
Kartra I was on convert kit.
24
:I was on drip.
25
:I was on active campaign.
26
:Every business owner I know
has switched platforms.
27
:At least once it is normal.
28
:So I wanted to share three things
to do before moving or considering
29
:moving email marketing platforms.
30
:The first thing is to ask
yourself, why, why are you moving?
31
:I have moved because other business
owners were saying that they really
32
:liked active campaign over drip or drip
over active campaign or convert kit.
33
:Like.
34
:I have moved my email list
35
:because of what platform is trending.
36
:That's never really a great reason to do
anything in business, but especially with
37
:something as important as your email list.
38
:You really want to switch
as little as possible?
39
:And you really wanna make sure
you're grounded in the reason why.
40
:And there are a couple of reasons.
41
:So I will tell you, I am
right now on active campaign.
42
:I have actively LOL.
43
:I have actively thought about moving
from active campaign back to convert
44
:kit convert, get an active campaign
are the two that I've used the most.
45
:The reason I left ConvertKit was because
46
:iPhone Microphone-4: active campaign has
this feature called conditional content.
47
:And it was something that felt so cool.
48
:And I was like, I'm going
to use this all the time.
49
:Spoiler.
50
:I have never used it, but
I might use it eventually.
51
:It's the option to send one email.
52
:But people get different parts
of the email depending on what
53
:their tags are, for example.
54
:So I thought I would use this
a lot in my group program.
55
:So I could have a banner that says,
Hey, it looks like you haven't
56
:completed the program promise.
57
:Please be sure to keep working towards
that and you know, whatever, whatever
58
:inside of our weekly Roundup email.
59
:So it gets an one weekly Roundup email
to all of our active students, but they
60
:would get different reminders, different
prompts, different content, depending
61
:on where they were at in the program.
62
:That is still a cool feature to me.
63
:But that was something I definitely,
that was one of the reasons I moved
64
:over to active campaign from ConvertKit.
65
:Now ConvertKit is doing a lot of
cool things with like the creators
66
:network and all of those things.
67
:And.
68
:I really do not think that
one is better than the other.
69
:It just depends on like, what are
the features that you want to use
70
:and is it worth the effort to move?
71
:iPhone Microphone-5: I will be honest.
72
:And if I could tell past Ashley who
is moving to active campaign for a
73
:shiny reason, I would tell her to pump
the brakes and just stay with convert
74
:kit, stay with what you're using.
75
:. So all this to say is like the
shiny software syndrome is real.
76
:iPhone Microphone-4: So make this choice
wisely and make it from a grounded place.
77
:Don't just move because
of some willingly reason.
78
:So that's the first thing is make
sure you are switching to the
79
:right platform for you and your
business for the right reasons.
80
:The second thing to consider
before switching is for the
81
:love of your historical data.
82
:Have an air table content hub, because
what is going to happen when you move?
83
:Email marketing platforms is you
lose out on so much incredible,
84
:valuable historical data.
85
:So all of your old content, your
open rates, you're click rates.
86
:Just the chronological list of all
the emails you've ever sent to your
87
:audience, the actual email content itself.
88
:You, if you don't have
an air table content hub.
89
:Your content database is your
email marketing platform.
90
:And if you move your email
marketing platform, you are
91
:going to lose all of that.
92
:There have been times where I'm like,
oh, I want to repurpose that email
93
:from my launch from two years ago, but
I wasn't ConvertKit during that time.
94
:And I'm an active campaign and I
can't access it because I didn't
95
:have my content hub at the time.
96
:If you are going to move email marketing
platforms, you have to set up an air table
97
:content hub database that has a list.
98
:Of all of the emails
that you've ever sent.
99
:All of the metrics.
100
:So you have a really, really
robust searchable database.
101
:That you can group by launch.
102
:You can sort by here, you can
really see everything, but you
103
:absolutely have to do that.
104
:Before you switched email
marketing platforms.
105
:iPhone Microphone-6: So that is the
thing to consider kind of steps two
106
:and three, which is create your content
marketing hub and air table and bring in
107
:your content, the actual copy and paste.
108
:Content.
109
:And then also bring in the metrics.
110
:So it's kind of like a two-prong.
111
:Data import.
112
:It will save you so much
headache down the line.
113
:I wouldn't let any of my clients
move email marketing platforms before
114
:they have their content hubs set up.
115
:And have confirmed that they're
not going to lose out on that
116
:really valuable historical data.
117
:And if you are not switching email
platforms, you still absolutely
118
:should have your content hub anyways,
because something could happen.
119
:I have unfortunately heard
the horror stories of.
120
:Uh, VA accidentally deleting
like, oh, deleting all the
121
:content or deleting the account.
122
:I'm not saying that those things
happen, but even if you're not moving
123
:and if you're not like doomsday worried
about all of the data disappearing.
124
:It really helps you to have one central
place where all of your marketing
125
:metrics and your content live, because
you it's just easier to filter and
126
:group and sort by what you need to see
some email marketing platforms have it.
127
:So you can tag things and you can sort
by launch if you wanted to, but not
128
:in the robust way that air table can
inside of air table, you can filter
129
:just to show you a group program on
emails or filtered, just to show emails.
130
:That are about your content hub or that
are about interfaces or automations.
131
:I'm using specific examples to
me, but like, what are, you can
132
:add so many different tags that
can really keep you organized.
133
:And what's beautiful about air table,
which you can't do in your email
134
:marketing platform is really handled
the scheduling and the delegation.
135
:We enter that into another
episode, but having your
136
:content start out in air table.
137
:Helps it, so you can really easily
write the content in there and you can
138
:move the status to ready to schedule.
139
:Your VA can schedule it once
it's scheduled and it's bad for
140
:a couple of days, they can go
back in and collect the metrics.
141
:So it's super, super
holistic and easy to manage.
142
:It's not as possible, just
like , easily high level.
143
:See the status of all of your content.
144
:, if you aren't using something
like you're a table content hub.
145
:So I hope this was helpful.
146
:Hold this plant some seeds again.
147
:If you are moving email marketing
platforms, you absolutely must
148
:have a content, have an air table.
149
:We teach you how to set this up.
150
:A link in the show notes here that you
can either catch us on the live workshop
151
:on July 31st, 2024, or we'll have the
replay available for purchase as well.
152
:And we'll see you in the next episode.
