Something in life isn’t fitting the way it used to. The path that once made sense now feels heavy, forced, or disconnected from who you actually are.

But walking away from it brings up its own fear. Fear of disappointing people. Fear of losing the identity attached to it. Fear of not knowing what comes next.

This journaling episode is about looking underneath that hesitation and getting honest about what’s really keeping you stuck.

Sam walks through four prompts around change, identity, grief, and the patterns that have quietly been there all along.

Journal Prompts

  • Think back to a time in your life when you navigated significant change. Maybe it was having kids, changing jobs, moving, ending a relationship, whatever it might be. What did you figure out? What strengths did you use? If you did that then, what does that tell you about what you’re capable of now?
  • Picture the path you’re “supposed” to be on right now. The promotion. The title. The next milestone everyone expects from you. Maybe even the one you expect from yourself. What does your day look like? How do you feel by the end of it? What lights you up? What drains you? What does your family dynamic look like? Not what it should feel like. What it would actually feel like based on your current trajectory.
  • If you walked away from what you’re doing now, what would you be grieving? Maybe it’s the identity. The validation. The security. The stability. The path you thought your life would take. Or where you thought you’d be by now. Then ask yourself: what would I be moving toward? What keeps calling me that I continue to ignore?
  • Think about the last time you felt fully in your zone. When work didn’t feel like work. When conversations felt energizing. When something came naturally to you and you felt good doing it. Where were you? What were you doing? Who were you with? What kind of work were you helping people with? Then look back across your life. Where else has that feeling shown up before? What’s the pattern that’s been there all along?

This episode is a space to uncover resistance, reconnect with yourself, and start creating a life that actually fits instead of forcing yourself to stay attached to a version of life that no longer does.

Welcome to the strategic journaling episode where we go beyond the awareness that we want to reinvent ourselves and we're going to actually uncover what's holding us back because you already know that something needs to change. You want it to change. You know that your current path isn't it, but fear, comparison, other people's expectations or maybe the perceptions of you.

or just not knowing what you want to build next is keeping you stuck in the same loop. today we are digging into the beliefs underneath that hesitation. We are validating your ability to handle change and we're finding the pattern that's been there all along underneath the one that you've been ignoring and probably not on purpose, but it's been the one driving the show, driving the...

What is that phrase? Whatever the phrase, it's been the one that's keeping you, keeping you going wherever you are and not making a change that would actually change your life and help you feel better. This is a companion episode to Tuesday's conversation with Diane. So if these prompts resonate with you, definitely go back and listen to that one. These prompts will also be in the show notes so that...

You can come back to them anytime. So save this episode, follow the show, grab your journal or open Google Docs or your notes app and let's dig in.

Prompt number one. Think back to a time in your life when you navigated significant change. Whether it was having kids, changing jobs, moving, ending a relationship, whatever it might be. Write it down and then write about how you got through it.

What did you figure out? What strengths did you use? And ask yourself, if I did that then, what does that tell me about what I'm capable of now?

Prompt 2. Picture the path that you are quote-unquote supposed to be on now. The promotion, the title, the next milestone that everyone expects, maybe you even expect of yourself. And write down what happens if you actually get there. Like play it all the way through. What does your day look like? How do you feel by the end of it? What are you doing that actually lights you up? What are you doing that drains you?

What is your family dynamic like? And be honest with what it actually would feel like based on your current trajectory, not what it should feel like or what you wish it would feel like.

Prompt three, if you walked away from what you're doing now, what would you be grieving? Maybe it's the identity, your title, the validation, security, stability, the path that you thought you would be on, or just where you thought you would be in life by now. And let yourself actually mourn it on the page. Whatever bubbles up, write it down.

and then ask yourself, what would I be moving toward? What's calling me that I keep ignoring?

Prompt four, think about the last time that you felt fully in your zone. When work didn't feel like work, when you were enjoying conversations with other people, when you were doing something that came naturally to you and you felt good, you felt energized. Where were you? What were you doing? Who were you with? What type of work were you helping people with? And then look back over your life and think where else have you felt that?

What's the pattern? What's been there all along? It's maybe there right now, but you just haven't given yourself permission to build around that or to create more of that.

Amazing job. If this were a coaching session with you and me right now, we would dig into each one of these prompts separately and talk through it because there's so much to unpack in each prompt. So use this as a free coaching session and prompt yourself through more of it, through anything that felt like a ping in your gut or

a burst of inspiration or even resistance as you wrote it because it's telling you something, it's directing you somewhere. And if you don't know where to take it from here, like how to prompt yourself further, you can always use my free Calm Mind Blueprint. It walks you through clearing the overwhelm or any big emotion associated with each of those topics and gives you clarity and direction for each. And then I also have three openings for 90-minute breakthrough intensives.

where we can go deep and get you feeling confident and advocating for yourself and create the underlying beliefs and the tangible steps to your reinvention, whether that be personal and or professional. Links to both of those things, the Breakthrough Intensive and the Free Calm Mind Blueprint are in the show notes. Either way, I'm so proud of you for showing up. Thank you for being here and journaling with me, and I will see you next week.
