Rapp Report Daily 0367 The challenge is that Jesus Christ never claimed to be God. But is it valid? Did Jesus actually claim to be God? Well, one thing we have to do when we look at this is understanding that language and culture changes. So we have to understand what happens with Jesus's words by those that reacted to it. So If you go to John chapter eight, and you look in there, you end up seeing that Jesus Christ ends claims to be, "I am", "I am" as a name for God. You see this in verse 58, Jesus said to them, "truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was I am, so they pick up stones to throw at him". Then you go to John chapter 10. And he said, in verse 30, "I and the Father are one, The Jews again, pick up stones to stone him. Jesus answered them, I've shown you many good works for my father, for which of them are you going to stone me and the Jews answered, It is not for good work, that you're there we're going to stone you but for blasphemy for you, being a man, make yourself God". So that they at the time understood He was claiming to be deity. Now If you want another passage to look at would be Mark chapter two, they drop a paralytic in front of Jesus after ripping a hole in the roof, he ends up saying, "Your sins are forgiven", knowing the hearts of men, He says this, and the scribes say, "who can forgive God, but God alone, He is committing blasphemy". And Jesus ends up saying so you know that He has the authority to forgive sins. He says the parabolic rise up and walk, proving that not only did he claimed to be God, but he proved that he was God.
