[brad_herda]: oh

121

::

[steve_doyle]: get started

122

::

[brad_herda]: ah

123

::

[steve_doyle]: crag first question we ask all of

our guests

124

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

125

::

[steve_doyle]: is which generation do you

126

::

[brad_herda]: steve remember today

127

::

[steve_doyle]: self

128

::

[brad_herda]: high five

129

::

[steve_doyle]: identify

130

::

[brad_herda]: for you baby you remembered

131

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

132

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

133

::

[steve_doyle]: self identify which who do you self

identify

134

::

[brad_herda]: ye

135

::

[steve_doyle]: with

136

::

[craig_sorbo]: self identify

137

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

138

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

139

::

[brad_herda]: right

140

::

[craig_sorbo]: so you want me to answer

141

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

142

::

[craig_sorbo]: what what am i based on my

actual age or

143

::

[brad_herda]: yes

144

::

[craig_sorbo]: mentally what am i actual

145

::

[steve_doyle]: yes

146

::

[brad_herda]: m

147

::

[craig_sorbo]: actual age i'm early millennial born in

eighty five

148

::

[steve_doyle]: got it

149

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

150

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

151

::

[brad_herda]: wow

152

::

[steve_doyle]: perfect

153

::

[brad_herda]: you're i graduated

154

::

[craig_sorbo]: hm

155

::

[brad_herda]: from high school perfect awesome

156

::

[craig_sorbo]: that's

157

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

158

::

[craig_sorbo]: right that's right

159

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

160

::

[craig_sorbo]: hats were diverse here

161

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

162

::

[craig_sorbo]: in gender

163

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

164

::

[craig_sorbo]: even though we have the same haircut

oh

165

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

166

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

167

::

[brad_herda]: great barber isn't it

168

::

[craig_sorbo]: i think if they did

169

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

170

::

[craig_sorbo]: a mem right now of the three

of us i am the combination of the

171

::

[craig_sorbo]: two of you i got

172

::

[brad_herda]: oh

173

::

[craig_sorbo]: steve's beard

174

::

[steve_doyle]: pretty

175

::

[craig_sorbo]: in your

176

::

[steve_doyle]: close

177

::

[craig_sorbo]: head it's kind of like this is

178

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

179

::

[craig_sorbo]: there's some sort of like speaking a

millennial writer i don't know

180

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

181

::

[craig_sorbo]: nil x

182

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

183

::

[craig_sorbo]: g y

184

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

185

::

[craig_sorbo]: pronoun generation

186

::

[brad_herda]: stop

187

::

[craig_sorbo]: or something

188

::

[brad_herda]: stop stop

189

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

190

::

[brad_herda]: stop stop so so crag how did

you talk about the car industry for a

191

::

[steve_doyle]: m

192

::

[brad_herda]: moment

193

::

[craig_sorbo]: really

194

::

[brad_herda]: shall you let's go back to your

days at the dealer ship what

195

::

[craig_sorbo]: sure

196

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

197

::

[brad_herda]: what was it like

198

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

199

::

[brad_herda]: there what was it like being the

young guy

200

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

201

::

[brad_herda]: in the old guy industry

202

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

203

::

[craig_sorbo]: um and i guess i never really

thought of that as the old

204

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

205

::

[craig_sorbo]: guy industry but yeah

206

::

[steve_doyle]: a

207

::

[craig_sorbo]: i got you now start back i

mean i was the traditional person high school

208

::

[craig_sorbo]: right so my dad was actually a

college professor

209

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

210

::

[craig_sorbo]: um so i went to high school

good students

211

::

[steve_doyle]: m

212

::

[craig_sorbo]: whole nine yards right on a roll

213

::

[brad_herda]: debatable

214

::

[craig_sorbo]: all that fun stuff you know

215

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

216

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

217

::

[brad_herda]: no

218

::

[craig_sorbo]: not you weren't

219

::

[brad_herda]: we

220

::

[craig_sorbo]: my teacher thank goodness for

221

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

222

::

[craig_sorbo]: that otherwise i might not have been

that but anyway it was you

223

::

[steve_doyle]: m

224

::

[craig_sorbo]: know like the normal path

225

::

[steve_doyle]: my

226

::

[craig_sorbo]: is what you were going to think

227

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

228

::

[craig_sorbo]: so once to college

229

::

[steve_doyle]: m

230

::

[craig_sorbo]: and in college you know you're you're

navigating life on you know personally and kind

231

::

[craig_sorbo]: of what you want to do and

i was in school for engineering brad you

232

::

[craig_sorbo]: know me a little bit

233

::

[brad_herda]: oh my god

234

::

[craig_sorbo]: there is yeah i'm the furthest thing

from an engine as i have now i

235

::

[craig_sorbo]: right i should have never been allowed

like it should have been illegal for me

236

::

[craig_sorbo]: to be in in a degree

237

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

238

::

[craig_sorbo]: for engineering and paying for it but

239

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

240

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know one of the things that

happened was in college they

241

::

[steve_doyle]: m

242

::

[craig_sorbo]: had us reading some stuff and obviously

the lean to college even back then right

243

::

[craig_sorbo]: this is now seventeen years ago um

was certainly there was a lean towards the

244

::

[craig_sorbo]: education system and they had us

245

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

246

::

[craig_sorbo]: reading a book that i firmly disagreed

with and

247

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

248

::

[craig_sorbo]: i was in college for bush elections

o four and to me just

249

::

[steve_doyle]: m

250

::

[craig_sorbo]: being a conserver made sense when i

was younger both my parents were actually self

251

::

[craig_sorbo]: proclaimed dem rats when i was growing

up i was twelve years old going this

252

::

[craig_sorbo]: doesn't make sense remember my

253

::

[steve_doyle]: m

254

::

[craig_sorbo]: mom being a big like ross pro

fan like pieces of it i'm like yeah

255

::

[craig_sorbo]: i get it it makes sense

256

::

[steve_doyle]: m

257

::

[craig_sorbo]: but

258

::

[brad_herda]: did you have

259

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

260

::

[craig_sorbo]: you

261

::

[brad_herda]: charts

262

::

[craig_sorbo]: know i was

263

::

[brad_herda]: did you have charts in the house

on the kitchen you have like

264

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

265

::

[brad_herda]: raps on the refrigerator

266

::

[craig_sorbo]: uh

267

::

[steve_doyle]: were

268

::

[brad_herda]: m

269

::

[steve_doyle]: you all

270

::

[craig_sorbo]: man

271

::

[steve_doyle]: er

272

::

[brad_herda]: m

273

::

[steve_doyle]: were you all ere

274

::

[craig_sorbo]: absolutely so

275

::

[steve_doyle]: all ears

276

::

[craig_sorbo]: but they had us reading this book

and i disagreed with it and

277

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

278

::

[craig_sorbo]: the teacher looked at me she was

what's your opinion with your opinion i said

279

::

[craig_sorbo]: i just let me get to this

class i don't want to get my opinion

280

::

[craig_sorbo]: because i disagree with you yet she

kept drilling it and finally i just said

281

::

[craig_sorbo]: as i think it is crazy it

was a very socialist book and i'm like

282

::

[craig_sorbo]: we're in college right now paying for

college and remember looking at the class going

283

::

[craig_sorbo]: this i'm like why in the world

would i come to college pay for something

284

::

[craig_sorbo]: so that i could literally have the

exact same path as everybody else that doesn't

285

::

[craig_sorbo]: make any sense and the rest of

the class looked at me like i was

286

::

[craig_sorbo]: the crazy one so i was like

i don't think i fit here right

287

::

[steve_doyle]: m

288

::

[craig_sorbo]: where's waldo

289

::

[steve_doyle]: m

290

::

[craig_sorbo]: i'm right here i got to

291

::

[steve_doyle]: yah

292

::

[craig_sorbo]: go

293

::

[brad_herda]: oh

294

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

295

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

296

::

[brad_herda]: ah

297

::

[craig_sorbo]: the teacher looked at me she s

there's a liberal art school if you don't

298

::

[craig_sorbo]: like it you should leave you know

i'm appy she said ecause i did i

299

::

[craig_sorbo]: followed her advice i went to the

dean's office i told her what happened i

300

::

[craig_sorbo]: hold be refunded at left and my

dad was teaching it concord at the time

301

::

[craig_sorbo]: so i called my dad so dad

i just dropped out of college that one

302

::

[craig_sorbo]: over well um

303

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

304

::

[brad_herda]: how is that

305

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

306

::

[brad_herda]: how is that dinner conversation

307

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah uh you know my parents were

evorsayoug so i didn't i didn't see my

308

::

[craig_sorbo]: dad often you know we talk stuff

but i don't think he talked to me

309

::

[craig_sorbo]: i don't think he talked to me

for north of twelve one like we didn't

310

::

[brad_herda]: wow

311

::

[craig_sorbo]: have a single conversation from that point

my whole family and my dad thought the

312

::

[craig_sorbo]: family was incredibly educated and my

313

::

[brad_herda]: ah

314

::

[craig_sorbo]: mom

315

::

[steve_doyle]: m

316

::

[craig_sorbo]: hide of the family was less educated

about that hard work so i was kind

317

::

[craig_sorbo]: of that hybrid in between

318

::

[steve_doyle]: m

319

::

[craig_sorbo]: those things and growing up you know

i was working from age eight on and

320

::

[craig_sorbo]: my grandpa's resort and then i did

it flooring installed starting like twelve years old

321

::

[craig_sorbo]: my uncle like i just always had

this work ethic mentality um so i knew

322

::

[craig_sorbo]: and that's when i left and i

had the confidence to leave college that's the

323

::

[craig_sorbo]: background that i knew i said here

i can outwork these pole i would look

324

::

[craig_sorbo]: at the class room ago i'm not

in how smart these people so these people

325

::

[craig_sorbo]: are really smart i don't know if

i could beat them in some of that

326

::

[craig_sorbo]: but i'm gonna work them if they're

gonna work seventeen hours i'm gonna like you

327

::

[craig_sorbo]: know cob briant this i'm gonna go

eight whatever it takes i

328

::

[brad_herda]: right

329

::

[craig_sorbo]: gotta win and all i want to

do is win win win so i that

330

::

[craig_sorbo]: competitis i had that work at the

background i don't think my dad talked to

331

::

[craig_sorbo]: me for like twelve months after that

he made a stye comment to me at

332

::

[craig_sorbo]: that time when i left because i

was in school for engineer because i liked

333

::

[craig_sorbo]: cars knew i want to do something

with cars i want to do two things

334

::

[craig_sorbo]: i want to work at cars i

want to make money that's how i got

335

::

[craig_sorbo]: into engineering that's

336

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

337

::

[craig_sorbo]: really a bad thing

338

::

[brad_herda]: it's a

339

::

[craig_sorbo]: to

340

::

[brad_herda]: bad idea

341

::

[craig_sorbo]: make a career

342

::

[brad_herda]: it's

343

::

[craig_sorbo]: choice

344

::

[brad_herda]: a bad

345

::

[steve_doyle]: m

346

::

[craig_sorbo]: a bad idea

347

::

[brad_herda]: a bold strategy cotton let's see how

it

348

::

[craig_sorbo]: correct

349

::

[brad_herda]: plays out

350

::

[craig_sorbo]: but you know all my teachers parents

stuff i tell him thtey'relike hey it's got

351

::

[craig_sorbo]: you're going to college like they all

feel happy about it

352

::

[brad_herda]: oh

353

::

[craig_sorbo]: instead of what they should have felt

was cool you're going to indebt yourself based

354

::

[craig_sorbo]: on two characteristics things you like that's

really how it should have been looked at

355

::

[craig_sorbo]: and

356

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

357

::

[craig_sorbo]: so now my dad made this comment

to me said hey just you're just going

358

::

[craig_sorbo]: as i laughed i said dad i'm

not going to go sell cars anyway then

359

::

[craig_sorbo]: buddy of mind called me and said

hey i need to go look at this

360

::

[craig_sorbo]: car and i was kind of a

gear head and he said when you come

361

::

[craig_sorbo]: look at it with me i was

like no sure

362

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

363

::

[craig_sorbo]: not doing anything right now so m

yeah let's do that

364

::

[brad_herda]: got nothing but time

365

::

[craig_sorbo]: so i go

366

::

[brad_herda]: my friend

367

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

368

::

[brad_herda]: no problem

369

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah you know you look back now

it was probably a bit of a god

370

::

[craig_sorbo]: moment in my eyes like why did

this all lay out and so i went

371

::

[craig_sorbo]: with them to the dealer ship to

look at cars started now chitchatting with some

372

::

[craig_sorbo]: of the people there and they're like

hey you should on work here i'm like

373

::

[craig_sorbo]: i got nothing yeah let's do that

you know ironically dad just told me two

374

::

[craig_sorbo]: weeks to go start selling

375

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

376

::

[craig_sorbo]: cars so i was hilarious

377

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

378

::

[craig_sorbo]: but yeah so i got in the

car business this would have

379

::

[brad_herda]: oh

380

::

[craig_sorbo]: been now was like nineteen something nineteen

in change because it was a second semester

381

::

[craig_sorbo]: of my sophomore year when i left

382

::

[steve_doyle]: m

383

::

[craig_sorbo]: of college crushed it i mean so

being the youngest when you talk about being

384

::

[craig_sorbo]: the carp was nineteen years old i

went in there but when i think of

385

::

[craig_sorbo]: career pass and stuff too some of

it is like competition right every career it's

386

::

[craig_sorbo]: like hey what's my competition

387

::

[steve_doyle]: m

388

::

[craig_sorbo]: that was my mentality mine eli was

always about winning so i said

389

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

390

::

[craig_sorbo]: what do people hate they hate car

sales people cool so i just not have

391

::

[craig_sorbo]: to not suck and i could probably

do okay at this um and

392

::

[brad_herda]: oh

393

::

[craig_sorbo]: brought a different mentality

394

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

395

::

[craig_sorbo]: and idea to this idea and work

396

::

[steve_doyle]: it's awesome

397

::

[craig_sorbo]: was work gather gonna win you know

it was always like what's the crappy thing

398

::

[craig_sorbo]: about the car business you work it

on

399

::

[steve_doyle]: m

400

::

[craig_sorbo]: your slave like all that stuff

401

::

[steve_doyle]: my

402

::

[craig_sorbo]: if i don't care i'll work hard

all that loved cars got to be around

403

::

[craig_sorbo]: cars

404

::

[steve_doyle]: m

405

::

[craig_sorbo]: all the time when you're nineteen that's

crazy cool

406

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

407

::

[craig_sorbo]: but i mean i became a gold

sales person for honda that first year i

408

::

[craig_sorbo]: mean i

409

::

[brad_herda]: cool

410

::

[craig_sorbo]: made six figures of income my first

year selling cars so coming up in that

411

::

[craig_sorbo]: industry i found something and i found

a group of people that embraced me i

412

::

[craig_sorbo]: know one of the things brad you

love to talk about right as understanding that

413

::

[craig_sorbo]: career path there was a really defined

414

::

[steve_doyle]: m

415

::

[craig_sorbo]: understandable career path and it was metrically

set up the best here moved to do

416

::

[craig_sorbo]: this move

417

::

[brad_herda]: m

418

::

[craig_sorbo]: to do this

419

::

[brad_herda]: m

420

::

[craig_sorbo]: moved to do this i just follow

that path and when i look back at

421

::

[craig_sorbo]: it you know so i did sales

for two years and then my gentle manager

422

::

[craig_sorbo]: the time

423

::

[steve_doyle]: m

424

::

[craig_sorbo]: loved me is like dude we had

to get you in front of many people

425

::

[craig_sorbo]: as possible i was a pretty good

closer in the

426

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

427

::

[craig_sorbo]: car industry and

428

::

[steve_doyle]: m

429

::

[craig_sorbo]: so he made me a sales manager

at twenty one so i was like sales

430

::

[craig_sorbo]: manager twenty one finance

431

::

[brad_herda]: i

432

::

[craig_sorbo]: manager at twenty two

433

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

434

::

[craig_sorbo]: and by twenty three i actually became

a general manager in the car industry i

435

::

[craig_sorbo]: got my own store

436

::

[brad_herda]: yet

437

::

[craig_sorbo]: at twenty thee i was the youngest

g m in the state all based

438

::

[steve_doyle]: m

439

::

[craig_sorbo]: on just grind and work i think

and certainly there's education right but it's defined

440

::

[craig_sorbo]: specific education that you're learning for your

craft and so i was super engaged right

441

::

[craig_sorbo]: if it's like

442

::

[brad_herda]: right

443

::

[craig_sorbo]: hey learn this you can make more

and have better success i was like all

444

::

[craig_sorbo]: about it

445

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

446

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

447

::

[steve_doyle]: right

448

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know that was my experience in

a nutshell i guess in the car industry

449

::

[craig_sorbo]: and kind of love the industry

450

::

[steve_doyle]: m

451

::

[brad_herda]: so

452

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

453

::

[brad_herda]: so you're twenty three years old your

454

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

455

::

[brad_herda]: general manager of a dealer ship

456

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

457

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

458

::

[brad_herda]: obviously probably don't have many younger

459

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

460

::

[brad_herda]: people working

461

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

462

::

[brad_herda]: for you particular on the sale side

and probably not even in the in the

463

::

[brad_herda]: mechanic side or on the service side

how

464

::

[craig_sorbo]: how

465

::

[brad_herda]: how did you

466

::

[craig_sorbo]: how

467

::

[brad_herda]: come in

468

::

[steve_doyle]: m

469

::

[brad_herda]: with that competitive attitude that hey i'm

gonna work the ship out of everybody how

470

::

[brad_herda]: is that received

471

::

[craig_sorbo]: how

472

::

[brad_herda]: and how well did that go over

with the folks that are older than you

473

::

[craig_sorbo]: um trying to think back to some

of that at that time i do remember

474

::

[craig_sorbo]: the one thing

475

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

476

::

[craig_sorbo]: that's why i have the beard now

so

477

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

478

::

[craig_sorbo]: at a young age i had to

grow the beard so i looked older um

479

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

480

::

[craig_sorbo]: all my my wife and i said

you know good thing about being a due

481

::

[craig_sorbo]: this week girl the facial her look

older when

482

::

[steve_doyle]: m

483

::

[craig_sorbo]: we're young and as we get older

we shave it off and look younger

484

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

485

::

[craig_sorbo]: but so that was

486

::

[steve_doyle]: yep

487

::

[craig_sorbo]: that was a win but i guess

i never i really never took an approach

488

::

[craig_sorbo]: the people in my store that's my

team

489

::

[steve_doyle]: m

490

::

[craig_sorbo]: so supporting them helping them helping them

better increasing the nice thing the fun thing

491

::

[craig_sorbo]: about the car industry is success can

come together if the store is doing well

492

::

[craig_sorbo]: everybody is making more money and it

can fast right like your check tomorrow can

493

::

[craig_sorbo]: be different than your check two weeks

494

::

[steve_doyle]: eh

495

::

[craig_sorbo]: ago

496

::

[brad_herda]: oh

497

::

[craig_sorbo]: substantially there isn't a real long path

to that so if i'm able to come

498

::

[craig_sorbo]: in there and help improve this ces

improve their pay checks they're going to love

499

::

[craig_sorbo]: me and that in most of my

experience was the case so there wasn't a

500

::

[craig_sorbo]: lot of we think this guy is

a young idiot i'm sure there was some

501

::

[craig_sorbo]: of that i don't recall any that

specifically coming to me but it was

502

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

503

::

[craig_sorbo]: like hey this guy came up he's

helping me make more money i like this

504

::

[craig_sorbo]: guy pretty cut and dry

505

::

[brad_herda]: oh

506

::

[craig_sorbo]: very simple word so

507

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

508

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah that was that ah so

509

::

[steve_doyle]: so

510

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

511

::

[steve_doyle]: as we're talking about this is a

generational

512

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

513

::

[steve_doyle]: show um and brad

514

::

[craig_sorbo]: yes

515

::

[steve_doyle]: kind of alluded to it in his

question but for our listeners what

516

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

517

::

[steve_doyle]: were some of the things you had

to work through with some of the more

518

::

[steve_doyle]: experienced seasonal professionals versus

519

::

[craig_sorbo]: yah

520

::

[steve_doyle]: you as the young whipper snapper coming

in

521

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

522

::

[craig_sorbo]: um

523

::

[brad_herda]: oh

524

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know i think it was i

would say one of the traits that i

525

::

[craig_sorbo]: had that was a benefit is

526

::

[brad_herda]: ah

527

::

[craig_sorbo]: i am not the guy that walks

in room and says i'm the smartest guy

528

::

[craig_sorbo]: in this room even if i have

the largest title i'm not i don't really

529

::

[craig_sorbo]: approach

530

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

531

::

[craig_sorbo]: many conversations with that mentality you know

if i'm sitting there talking

532

::

[steve_doyle]: m

533

::

[craig_sorbo]: to a six year old tech that's

got thirty five years of experience e's a

534

::

[craig_sorbo]: rock star i'm not going to sit

here and tell him in his

535

::

[steve_doyle]: m

536

::

[craig_sorbo]: job what to do better but we're

537

::

[brad_herda]: a

538

::

[craig_sorbo]: going no we're going to sit down

to ther and

539

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

540

::

[craig_sorbo]: figure out ways to improve the store

as a unit i want to see how

541

::

[craig_sorbo]: i can embrace him in the knowledge

that he has so i think i brought

542

::

[craig_sorbo]: benefits in that space now the one

thing about the car industry that's a benefit

543

::

[craig_sorbo]: is there's so much turnover a lot

of those people are used to it you

544

::

[craig_sorbo]: know so when i would start when

i you know

545

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

546

::

[craig_sorbo]: would take start with

547

::

[brad_herda]: he's

548

::

[craig_sorbo]: a store

549

::

[brad_herda]: not going

550

::

[craig_sorbo]: as

551

::

[brad_herda]: to

552

::

[craig_sorbo]: the

553

::

[brad_herda]: be

554

::

[craig_sorbo]: g

555

::

[brad_herda]: here long

556

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

557

::

[brad_herda]: you just gotta

558

::

[craig_sorbo]: men

559

::

[brad_herda]: wait him

560

::

[craig_sorbo]: like

561

::

[brad_herda]: out

562

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

563

::

[brad_herda]: i know i'll

564

::

[craig_sorbo]: here's

565

::

[brad_herda]: last longer than he will

566

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah i'm the next

567

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

568

::

[craig_sorbo]: guy and so they don't really care

and you know the interaction and some of

569

::

[craig_sorbo]: the decisions that i would make really

when impact that much or would but usually

570

::

[steve_doyle]: right

571

::

[craig_sorbo]: in a positive way here's pretty simple

most business a high level is pretty simple

572

::

[craig_sorbo]: right

573

::

[steve_doyle]: m

574

::

[craig_sorbo]: efficiencies you know turns people

575

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

576

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know as brand now were talking

the other day and said man if you

577

::

[craig_sorbo]: could just have a slogan in business

that would just be a good foundational piece

578

::

[craig_sorbo]: in general just don't be a dick

it's gonna work out

579

::

[steve_doyle]: yep

580

::

[brad_herda]: yeah it's

581

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

582

::

[brad_herda]: usually

583

::

[craig_sorbo]: and that's

584

::

[brad_herda]: a good place

585

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

586

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know

587

::

[brad_herda]: to start

588

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

589

::

[brad_herda]: m

590

::

[craig_sorbo]: so i

591

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

592

::

[craig_sorbo]: think i was pretty good i mean

i can

593

::

[steve_doyle]: yes

594

::

[craig_sorbo]: certainly get hot when the situation

595

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

596

::

[craig_sorbo]: s would and people especially some of

the people i

597

::

[steve_doyle]: a

598

::

[craig_sorbo]: used to work with would still laugh

599

::

[steve_doyle]: m

600

::

[craig_sorbo]: and will still tell story about times

did i break some phones and into some

601

::

[craig_sorbo]: things like that absolutely

602

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

603

::

[craig_sorbo]: but it usually wasn't

604

::

[steve_doyle]: guilty

605

::

[craig_sorbo]: directed towards anything or necesary

606

::

[steve_doyle]: yes

607

::

[craig_sorbo]: anybody particular

608

::

[brad_herda]: oh

609

::

[craig_sorbo]: but you have the attention grabber sometimes

you just need that like do i your

610

::

[craig_sorbo]: attention not cool all right let's solve

this

611

::

[steve_doyle]: right

612

::

[craig_sorbo]: and i'm very much a problem solution

mentality type person and you need people so

613

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know as far as generationally right

now

614

::

[brad_herda]: m

615

::

[craig_sorbo]: an indifferent positions

616

::

[steve_doyle]: m

617

::

[craig_sorbo]: would have different challenges right so my

sales staff would be different than working with

618

::

[craig_sorbo]: the technicians or the service writers or

the managers um but i think as a

619

::

[craig_sorbo]: whole if you're willing the benefit that

i had as a young guy is i

620

::

[craig_sorbo]: would get in the trenches with them

and that was one thing i know they

621

::

[craig_sorbo]: appreciated like

622

::

[brad_herda]: right

623

::

[craig_sorbo]: ou know my finance persons backed up

i'm not going to be the guy that

624

::

[craig_sorbo]: sits there and says hey you know

go deliver these next twelve cars by yourself

625

::

[craig_sorbo]: i'm going home i'm like now i'm

going to hop in the

626

::

[steve_doyle]: right

627

::

[craig_sorbo]: office and i'm on

628

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

629

::

[craig_sorbo]: help you deliver cars so that you're

not sitting here ntil two o'clock in the

630

::

[craig_sorbo]: morning delivering these cars and i have

all these piss off customers and employes we're

631

::

[craig_sorbo]: gonna get through it

632

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

633

::

[craig_sorbo]: um so that was i think there's

a benefit to the generational difference there then

634

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know some of the older guys

that i would see that were my position

635

::

[craig_sorbo]: at different stores that's what they would

do and what was the number one complaint

636

::

[craig_sorbo]: that their people would complain about what

be that they wouldn't get the back up

637

::

[craig_sorbo]: when they needed it and you know

so many things happened

638

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

639

::

[craig_sorbo]: like yu got a ton of your

your in the car business you're there seven

640

::

[craig_sorbo]: hours a week but the reality is

you're not overly busy there's always stuff to

641

::

[craig_sorbo]: do but you're not overly busy eighty

percent of time twenty

642

::

[brad_herda]: crack

643

::

[craig_sorbo]: per cent of

644

::

[steve_doyle]: right

645

::

[craig_sorbo]: time you're doing like every it's right

eight twenty rules so twenty for second time

646

::

[craig_sorbo]: you're doing eighty percent of your business

make that more efficient

647

::

[steve_doyle]: yep

648

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

649

::

[steve_doyle]: absolutely

650

::

[brad_herda]: cool

651

::

[craig_sorbo]: so yeah it was it was one

of fun i mean in dealing with different

652

::

[craig_sorbo]: people obviously you know like you

653

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

654

::

[craig_sorbo]: said you guys are a generational show

you know my last story i had

655

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

656

::

[craig_sorbo]: two older texts and i think one

of the proud things we had like have

657

::

[craig_sorbo]: a huge service department we had about

a dozen text when i had left

658

::

[steve_doyle]: ye

659

::

[craig_sorbo]: the two older guys these guys were

amazing but they were good dudes so what

660

::

[craig_sorbo]: was nice is i mean they're not

necessary your super outgoing personalities but they are

661

::

[craig_sorbo]: always willing to help um you know

their text

662

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

663

::

[craig_sorbo]: and but really good guys

664

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

665

::

[craig_sorbo]: and those were the guys

666

::

[steve_doyle]: my

667

::

[craig_sorbo]: that made my life you're in that

space and

668

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

669

::

[craig_sorbo]: when we would bring in some of

the young guys and having to manage some

670

::

[craig_sorbo]: of that mentality but what we did

at my store specifically is we created a

671

::

[craig_sorbo]: team environment so instead of text when

you think of a normal text or how

672

::

[craig_sorbo]: they're typically set up is it's every

text for themselves

673

::

[brad_herda]: yep

674

::

[craig_sorbo]: how fast they get stuff done through

on a flat rate cycle so you think

675

::

[craig_sorbo]: about the structure it creates animosity by

nature because the best texts are gonna want

676

::

[craig_sorbo]: to cherry pick the easiest jobs that

they know they can pound through as fast

677

::

[craig_sorbo]: as possible minimal effort on maximum pay

678

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

679

::

[steve_doyle]: h

680

::

[craig_sorbo]: but the

681

::

[steve_doyle]: m

682

::

[craig_sorbo]: reality is like your biggest problem customer

is going to be the opposite of that

683

::

[craig_sorbo]: it's the hard job that's warrant work

that the manufacture comes up and says well

684

::

[craig_sorbo]: we're going to pay you point seven

hours on this but it's going to take

685

::

[craig_sorbo]: somebody fourteen hours to do because never

done it one off weird

686

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

687

::

[craig_sorbo]: situation

688

::

[brad_herda]: right

689

::

[craig_sorbo]: and those were the challenging one so

what do we do we created three teams

690

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

691

::

[craig_sorbo]: of four with our senior text leading

each team and you know it created a

692

::

[craig_sorbo]: different environment that was a that was

a big win for

693

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

694

::

[craig_sorbo]: us in that industry because you just

crete that that teaming and now they're all

695

::

[craig_sorbo]: somewhat dependent you know it leaned towards

the a guy but you put an a

696

::

[craig_sorbo]: b c c guy or a b

b c guy on each team and it

697

::

[craig_sorbo]: helped

698

::

[steve_doyle]: right

699

::

[craig_sorbo]: us then increase the levels of the

younger guys and

700

::

[brad_herda]: right

701

::

[craig_sorbo]: still maximize

702

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

703

::

[craig_sorbo]: our

704

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

705

::

[craig_sorbo]: players i mean

706

::

[steve_doyle]: totally

707

::

[craig_sorbo]: i

708

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

709

::

[craig_sorbo]: remember one time i'm sitting

710

::

[brad_herda]: raise

711

::

[craig_sorbo]: in

712

::

[brad_herda]: the

713

::

[craig_sorbo]: the shop

714

::

[brad_herda]: floor

715

::

[craig_sorbo]: and

716

::

[brad_herda]: much quicker

717

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh man one time i'm sitting the

floor and a guy is working on a

718

::

[craig_sorbo]: car and

719

::

[brad_herda]: oh

720

::

[craig_sorbo]: reach screams over to one of our

senior guys across the shop not about just

721

::

[craig_sorbo]: like yealheslie hey need some help here

or whatever and this senior guy just goes

722

::

[craig_sorbo]: what's going on the other guy looks

he's like oh man that's the fuse that's

723

::

[craig_sorbo]: like four down seventeen i'm like this

guy literally had fuse boxes memorized on where

724

::

[brad_herda]: uh

725

::

[craig_sorbo]: the issue is i'm like that is

726

::

[brad_herda]: h

727

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah that's why we need it like

that's unbelievable right if it were me i

728

::

[craig_sorbo]: thought i was pretty good like i'd

be sitting here for probably twelve hours or

729

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know measure it in beer time

it's that's a thirty pack of trying to

730

::

[craig_sorbo]: figure out that problem that he just

solved

731

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

732

::

[craig_sorbo]: in twelve seconds

733

::

[brad_herda]: oh

734

::

[craig_sorbo]: come on so

735

::

[brad_herda]: awesome

736

::

[steve_doyle]: absolutely

737

::

[brad_herda]: so

738

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

739

::

[brad_herda]: now obviously

740

::

[craig_sorbo]: ah

741

::

[brad_herda]: you you left school you were in

the car industry for a bunch of time

742

::

[brad_herda]: you found your way into the financial

world

743

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

744

::

[brad_herda]: um you know you sent over some

interesting information before the show steve and i

745

::

[brad_herda]: kind of talked about it a little

bit so

746

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

747

::

[brad_herda]: as you sit from

748

::

[craig_sorbo]: i

749

::

[brad_herda]: your financial

750

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

751

::

[brad_herda]: seat today and even going forward from

752

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

753

::

[brad_herda]: from your history

754

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

755

::

[brad_herda]: what

756

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

757

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

758

::

[brad_herda]: you

759

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

760

::

[brad_herda]: know from your perspective

761

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

762

::

[brad_herda]: what would you tell that

763

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

764

::

[brad_herda]: seventeen

765

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

766

::

[brad_herda]: to nineteen year old today that's on

the fence to either i'm going to go

767

::

[brad_herda]: do some ship with my hands

768

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

769

::

[brad_herda]: i'm gonna get involved i'm gonna get

dirty or i'm going to find something that

770

::

[brad_herda]: i enjoy or

771

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

772

::

[brad_herda]: i'm going to kind of muddle my

way through university

773

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

774

::

[brad_herda]: or higher education system um what does

that

775

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

776

::

[brad_herda]: look like what would you tell them

to do and why would you tell them

777

::

[brad_herda]: to do that yeah

778

::

[craig_sorbo]: i think this could go

779

::

[steve_doyle]: m

780

::

[craig_sorbo]: to virtually anything in life

781

::

[brad_herda]: yea

782

::

[craig_sorbo]: if you go into a situation

783

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

784

::

[craig_sorbo]: let'seyou're gonna buy some let's go back

to car you're gonna buy a car if

785

::

[craig_sorbo]: you're sitting there debating should i buy

this car or should i not buy this

786

::

[craig_sorbo]: car

787

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

788

::

[craig_sorbo]: you think you should lean towards the

one that costs a lot of money or

789

::

[craig_sorbo]: the one that costs less money and

that would be what i would say when

790

::

[craig_sorbo]: he even comes

791

::

[brad_herda]: lots

792

::

[craig_sorbo]: to college

793

::

[brad_herda]: of money because i

794

::

[craig_sorbo]: if

795

::

[brad_herda]: like

796

::

[craig_sorbo]: you're

797

::

[brad_herda]: the fancy the fancy

798

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

799

::

[brad_herda]: blink man we got to have the

fancy blink

800

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

801

::

[brad_herda]: if we're goin to buy something

802

::

[craig_sorbo]: you said after if it was questionable

so

803

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

804

::

[craig_sorbo]: in the questionable arena i think that's

most case right most seventeen in nineteen year

805

::

[craig_sorbo]: olds that's i promise this the three

of us on this call right now we

806

::

[craig_sorbo]: are all doing something different than we

thought when we were seventeen yeah

807

::

[steve_doyle]: think o

808

::

[craig_sorbo]: there's no idea brad i know you

steve obviously we met thirty minus ago

809

::

[brad_herda]: oh

810

::

[steve_doyle]: yep

811

::

[craig_sorbo]: so i don't know that but i

can easily make that assumption to i

812

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

813

::

[craig_sorbo]: don't know what the percentage

814

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

815

::

[craig_sorbo]: s make up whatever statue want most

people are not in the career that they

816

::

[craig_sorbo]: intended on being at that age because

you got to learn and i think you

817

::

[craig_sorbo]: learn what you don't want to more

than what you do want to do um

818

::

[brad_herda]: yes

819

::

[craig_sorbo]: so you know i was involved in

a program called inspired when i was a

820

::

[craig_sorbo]: car business and you know we set

up intern shifts for high school kids and

821

::

[craig_sorbo]: i think it was a huge win

so you know my my um disagreement with

822

::

[craig_sorbo]: our higher education

823

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

824

::

[craig_sorbo]: system in colleges focused me and i

wanted to find something and create a path

825

::

[craig_sorbo]: so when i was in the cardestry

we did do that and i created

826

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

827

::

[craig_sorbo]: a funnel of interns that would come

into our dealership every year we'd be able

828

::

[craig_sorbo]: to char pick o go once create

intern ships and so form but they got

829

::

[craig_sorbo]: to experience it and even as a

lot of tent right embrace yourself

830

::

[steve_doyle]: m

831

::

[craig_sorbo]: in the culture embrace yourself and the

like what's going on if you're a lot

832

::

[craig_sorbo]: of tenant a lot of tenant moves

cars around they clean like this is not

833

::

[craig_sorbo]: rocket science but you now they're goin

to be talking to the text they're gonna

834

::

[craig_sorbo]: be seeing what's going on they're gonna

know a ton of what's happening it's a

835

::

[craig_sorbo]: great job for a young high school

kid and you're either going to realize hey

836

::

[craig_sorbo]: i love this environment right blue color

b s most of the time when we

837

::

[craig_sorbo]: stereouttike what does a blue color career

look like it's different than a white color

838

::

[craig_sorbo]: career what you can say what you

can't say you know some people like that

839

::

[craig_sorbo]: environment some people don't so learning some

of that stuff i think is huge and

840

::

[craig_sorbo]: that's when

841

::

[brad_herda]: hm

842

::

[craig_sorbo]: when you're on the fens ive like

what should i do let's not take the

843

::

[craig_sorbo]: path of spending more money

844

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

845

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know it's

846

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

847

::

[craig_sorbo]: kind of funny when i was doing

that inspired program some of the high schools

848

::

[craig_sorbo]: and these principles he we rolled out

they kept thinking like

849

::

[brad_herda]: m

850

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know we were we were conflict

to him like we were against

851

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

852

::

[craig_sorbo]: what they were doing and said

853

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

854

::

[craig_sorbo]: going to public high schools in the

area and i said let me ask you

855

::

[craig_sorbo]: this m principal what's your job and

he's like well my job is to these

856

::

[craig_sorbo]: kids ready for the world i said

okay the world is in college and this

857

::

[craig_sorbo]: is this is what we have to

break

858

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

859

::

[craig_sorbo]: so many parents and people think like

the next world for an eighteen or twenty

860

::

[craig_sorbo]: two year old is college your job

is ready for the next stage of life

861

::

[craig_sorbo]: whatever that is and

862

::

[brad_herda]: correct

863

::

[craig_sorbo]: again i personally think it should be

illegal that we funnel people into an education

864

::

[craig_sorbo]: system to cost tons of money that

they can't get out of and now whatever

865

::

[craig_sorbo]: decision they make their holes and now

obviously we look at today and this is

866

::

[craig_sorbo]: becoming a federal conversation that it's now

become everybody's problem on the decisions that they've

867

::

[craig_sorbo]: made

868

::

[brad_herda]: oh

869

::

[craig_sorbo]: right okay this is broken

870

::

[brad_herda]: yeah correct

871

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

872

::

[brad_herda]: so walk us through the you did

some

873

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

874

::

[brad_herda]: research walk us through the numbers i

mean because because that data was absolutely faking

875

::

[brad_herda]: staggering when you showed that data

876

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

877

::

[brad_herda]: when i read those numbers

878

::

[craig_sorbo]: so you know back in the day

when i was doing some of this this

879

::

[craig_sorbo]: is this was just some of the

mat that i would share with people because

880

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know there was this always fight

what i feel like people

881

::

[steve_doyle]: i

882

::

[craig_sorbo]: always want to fight me on this

in college in college

883

::

[brad_herda]: really

884

::

[craig_sorbo]: for a long time until

885

::

[brad_herda]: you antagonize people

886

::

[craig_sorbo]: i don't know

887

::

[brad_herda]: crag

888

::

[steve_doyle]: weird

889

::

[craig_sorbo]: i mean i don't try to i

just like to speak about things that are

890

::

[brad_herda]: i don't

891

::

[craig_sorbo]: antagonistic

892

::

[brad_herda]: try to

893

::

[craig_sorbo]: so people say don't talk

894

::

[steve_doyle]: i

895

::

[craig_sorbo]: money

896

::

[steve_doyle]: don't

897

::

[craig_sorbo]: politics

898

::

[steve_doyle]: try to

899

::

[craig_sorbo]: or religion that's

900

::

[steve_doyle]: i do

901

::

[craig_sorbo]: what

902

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

903

::

[craig_sorbo]: else do we want to talk about

you know i

904

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

905

::

[craig_sorbo]: only talk you

906

::

[steve_doyle]: right

907

::

[craig_sorbo]: know

908

::

[brad_herda]: we

909

::

[craig_sorbo]: that sports for me and you know

910

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

911

::

[craig_sorbo]: not enough people like sports so but

people at

912

::

[brad_herda]: on

913

::

[craig_sorbo]: the

914

::

[brad_herda]: world

915

::

[craig_sorbo]: college

916

::

[brad_herda]: cup is

917

::

[craig_sorbo]: debate

918

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

919

::

[brad_herda]: going on right now it's the biggest

event and on planet what are you talking

920

::

[brad_herda]: about

921

::

[craig_sorbo]: man i'm a huge sportsman i tried

to watch that stuff

922

::

[steve_doyle]: m

923

::

[craig_sorbo]: but

924

::

[brad_herda]: i agree

925

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

926

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah it's one goal a year i

love the means that are coming of it

927

::

[craig_sorbo]: though like wow

928

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

929

::

[craig_sorbo]: um one

930

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

931

::

[craig_sorbo]: they said you know you go back

a decade and colleges would would make this

932

::

[craig_sorbo]: debate that you make a million dollars

more if you had a college verse not

933

::

[craig_sorbo]: and brand you and i have talked

about said there's no way that you can

934

::

[craig_sorbo]: actually mathematically calculate that data because i

mean look at zaceburglamos i mean you got

935

::

[craig_sorbo]: people that are the wealthiest people in

936

::

[steve_doyle]: m

937

::

[craig_sorbo]: the world if college degrees are going

to totally blow that out of the water

938

::

[craig_sorbo]: and but i said alright let's just

do the math and in what i realized

939

::

[craig_sorbo]: a great book that i read that

family member since me was called rich port

940

::

[craig_sorbo]: when i was younger

941

::

[brad_herda]: it's great

942

::

[craig_sorbo]: because

943

::

[brad_herda]: book

944

::

[craig_sorbo]: i was that

945

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

946

::

[craig_sorbo]: kid i was that kid that was

kid licthad i didn't know my dad saw

947

::

[craig_sorbo]: the family

948

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

949

::

[craig_sorbo]: tons of wealth tons of money got

to see that piece

950

::

[steve_doyle]: m

951

::

[craig_sorbo]: i grew up pretty much only child

single mom very

952

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

953

::

[craig_sorbo]: poor but i got t see both

worlds

954

::

[brad_herda]: oh

955

::

[craig_sorbo]: you know it's the wolf of wall

street thing i've been a rich man poor

956

::

[craig_sorbo]: man i choose rich all he time

but

957

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

958

::

[craig_sorbo]: you choose comfortable at having an understanding

of money and what

959

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

960

::

[craig_sorbo]: the reason people don't have money typically

is because they're burdened with debts not because

961

::

[craig_sorbo]: of a lack of income because of

lack of understanding

962

::

[steve_doyle]: h

963

::

[brad_herda]: true

964

::

[craig_sorbo]: of their dollars

965

::

[steve_doyle]: m yeah

966

::

[craig_sorbo]: i've seen people that make a million

dollars year that have no money i've seen

967

::

[craig_sorbo]: people that mke forty thousand dollars a

year that have tons of it it's the

968

::

[craig_sorbo]: relationship that they have there with money

so that mat there is i just looked

969

::

[steve_doyle]: exactly

970

::

[craig_sorbo]: it up to and so in two

thousand and nineteen two thousand twenty the average

971

::

[craig_sorbo]: in state tuition was eighty one thousand

one hundred and forty dollars or four years

972

::

[craig_sorbo]: of school eighty one thousand dollars obviously

you can't get rid of this debt either

973

::

[craig_sorbo]: so if you invest that money or

if you have that payment so eighty one

974

::

[craig_sorbo]: one forty at an eight per cent

interest rate which is roughly the average interest

975

::

[craig_sorbo]: rate across the board for

976

::

[brad_herda]: right

977

::

[craig_sorbo]: all college loans that's seven hundred and

seventy five dollars per month um m if

978

::

[craig_sorbo]: you pay that from the age of

twenty three to thirty eight and re invest

979

::

[craig_sorbo]: that seven seventy five till you're sixty

five you have six hundred twenty ight thousand

980

::

[craig_sorbo]: dollars so a lot of people show

this to fifteen year old kids when i

981

::

[craig_sorbo]: was going to these high schools and

talk to them and they're looking go on

982

::

[craig_sorbo]: man i can buy a ferrari right

as you get old you realize hey i

983

::

[craig_sorbo]: gotta save for retirement i go do

some other

984

::

[brad_herda]: oh

985

::

[craig_sorbo]: things

986

::

[steve_doyle]: m

987

::

[craig_sorbo]: like six hundred twenty thousand dollars

988

::

[steve_doyle]: right

989

::

[craig_sorbo]: isn't that much money anywhere

990

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

991

::

[craig_sorbo]: when you're fifteen like you can buy

two feraries it's really cool but

992

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

993

::

[craig_sorbo]: when you understand

994

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

995

::

[craig_sorbo]: the flip side to it is like

if you start investing at twenty

996

::

[steve_doyle]: my

997

::

[craig_sorbo]: three so just to imagine a kid

you talk blue color spaces eighteen year o

998

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

999

::

[craig_sorbo]: kid

1000

::

[brad_herda]: oh

1001

::

[craig_sorbo]: goes out there doesn't rally want to

do so from eighteen nineteen twenty they're playing

1002

::

[craig_sorbo]: round

1003

::

[steve_doyle]: m

1004

::

[craig_sorbo]: in different worlds figure out what they

want to do now that then they start

1005

::

[craig_sorbo]: getting into a career path where hey

there's a there's a good path right stuff

1006

::

[craig_sorbo]: you guys talk all the time

1007

::

[brad_herda]: yep

1008

::

[craig_sorbo]: by twenty three years

1009

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1010

::

[craig_sorbo]: old is it uncommon that somebody in

the blue color space could saving investing seven

1011

::

[craig_sorbo]: her seventy five dollars a month

1012

::

[brad_herda]: could

1013

::

[craig_sorbo]: not

1014

::

[brad_herda]: be

1015

::

[craig_sorbo]: uncommon this is not

1016

::

[brad_herda]: could

1017

::

[craig_sorbo]: an

1018

::

[brad_herda]: be

1019

::

[craig_sorbo]: ureasonabus

1020

::

[brad_herda]: could be super easy to do

1021

::

[craig_sorbo]: super easy

1022

::

[steve_doyle]: absolutely

1023

::

[craig_sorbo]: if you do that and you do

that from the age of twenty three to

1024

::

[craig_sorbo]: sixty five you have one point seven

six eight million

1025

::

[brad_herda]: no

1026

::

[steve_doyle]: m

1027

::

[craig_sorbo]: all that math based on a six

percent average rate of return very conservative math

1028

::

[craig_sorbo]: that's the

1029

::

[steve_doyle]: m

1030

::

[craig_sorbo]: difference so if you make a million

dollars more in or if you make a

1031

::

[craig_sorbo]: million more that's actually tact so you

actually make let's say six hundred thousand as

1032

::

[craig_sorbo]: more

1033

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

1034

::

[craig_sorbo]: of an education system

1035

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

1036

::

[craig_sorbo]: this is one point

1037

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

1038

::

[craig_sorbo]: one million dollars congratulations college

1039

::

[brad_herda]: yeah

1040

::

[craig_sorbo]: you lost that's my math

1041

::

[steve_doyle]: yep

1042

::

[craig_sorbo]: so um

1043

::

[brad_herda]: no

1044

::

[steve_doyle]: ah

1045

::

[craig_sorbo]: but it

1046

::

[brad_herda]: when i saw that and i saw

it was double

1047

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1048

::

[brad_herda]: like essentially you're doubling your potential

1049

::

[craig_sorbo]: double triple

1050

::

[steve_doyle]: potential earnings

1051

::

[craig_sorbo]: triple

1052

::

[brad_herda]: yeah triple yeah six one point eight

from six yeah

1053

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

1054

::

[brad_herda]: you are you are essentially creating a

different

1055

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

1056

::

[brad_herda]: you're potentially creating generational

1057

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1058

::

[brad_herda]: pivot

1059

::

[craig_sorbo]: m

1060

::

[brad_herda]: for your family

1061

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1062

::

[brad_herda]: for your legacy for everything at that

point

1063

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

1064

::

[brad_herda]: time

1065

::

[craig_sorbo]: it's unbelievable yeah so i mean it's

staggering the math you're absolutely right you want

1066

::

[craig_sorbo]: to talk about generation al wealth compound

that more understand

1067

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

1068

::

[craig_sorbo]: that map add thirty years to it

it's even more dramatic right thing about compounding

1069

::

[craig_sorbo]: interest

1070

::

[steve_doyle]: hm

1071

::

[craig_sorbo]: is it's expodential just

1072

::

[brad_herda]: correct

1073

::

[craig_sorbo]: like technology

1074

::

[steve_doyle]: so

1075

::

[craig_sorbo]: is expodential things you know back ends

of things are expedential what does cology actually

1076

::

[craig_sorbo]: do to our younger generation in my

opinion robs them of their early most valuable

1077

::

[craig_sorbo]: investable years

1078

::

[brad_herda]: ah

1079

::

[craig_sorbo]: so that's

1080

::

[brad_herda]: so

1081

::

[craig_sorbo]: my beef with it

1082

::

[brad_herda]: how would somebody find you crag to

if the young kid wants to figure out

1083

::

[brad_herda]: that hey i want to get to

my one point eight million dollars by the

1084

::

[brad_herda]: time i am sixty or

1085

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1086

::

[brad_herda]: you know by the time by the

time i beat my body up so much

1087

::

[brad_herda]: that i'm fifty five and i don't

have to worry about it any more how

1088

::

[brad_herda]: does how

1089

::

[craig_sorbo]: hm

1090

::

[brad_herda]: does a kid find to help them

1091

::

[craig_sorbo]: ah

1092

::

[brad_herda]: to achieve

1093

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1094

::

[brad_herda]: that goal

1095

::

[craig_sorbo]: all my nphoes out there but just

if you google crag sore boat find it

1096

::

[craig_sorbo]: but crag dot sore bow at n

m dot com is my email my phone

1097

::

[craig_sorbo]: number two six six one seven four

seven five feel free call me gladly have

1098

::

[craig_sorbo]: a chat with anybody asks questions whether

you like what i say or don't like

1099

::

[craig_sorbo]: what i say i always i will

1100

::

[brad_herda]: oh

1101

::

[craig_sorbo]: welcome conflict

1102

::

[brad_herda]: you

1103

::

[craig_sorbo]: as well

1104

::

[steve_doyle]: so

1105

::

[brad_herda]: you know he will

1106

::

[craig_sorbo]: so

1107

::

[brad_herda]: always say it

1108

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1109

::

[brad_herda]: we've had plenty of conflict

1110

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1111

::

[brad_herda]: so so

1112

::

[craig_sorbo]: i love through the greatest conflict comes

the best resolution so the hardest conversations

1113

::

[steve_doyle]: absolutely

1114

::

[craig_sorbo]: create the best results

1115

::

[brad_herda]: yeah absolutely

1116

::

[craig_sorbo]: but yeah certainly those are the

1117

::

[steve_doyle]: ye

1118

::

[craig_sorbo]: two easiest ways to contact me

1119

::

[brad_herda]: right so

1120

::

[steve_doyle]: m

1121

::

[brad_herda]: you may well you only listen to

one episode randomly because it was

1122

::

[craig_sorbo]: ah

1123

::

[brad_herda]: a mutual friend of ours but that's

okay

1124

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

1125

::

[brad_herda]: so

1126

::

[craig_sorbo]: well

1127

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

1128

::

[craig_sorbo]: one thing we don't have i got

a four year old a one year on

1129

::

[craig_sorbo]: man time is of the essence is

limited

1130

::

[brad_herda]: whatever

1131

::

[steve_doyle]: right

1132

::

[brad_herda]: whatever

1133

::

[craig_sorbo]: chip

1134

::

[brad_herda]: m

1135

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1136

::

[brad_herda]: one of the things that one of

our friends of ours started was these dad

1137

::

[brad_herda]: joke

1138

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1139

::

[brad_herda]: things and i found a card i

thought

1140

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

1141

::

[brad_herda]: i

1142

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1143

::

[brad_herda]: thought

1144

::

[steve_doyle]: let's

1145

::

[brad_herda]: this was

1146

::

[steve_doyle]: do

1147

::

[brad_herda]: hilarious

1148

::

[steve_doyle]: this

1149

::

[brad_herda]: these two are hilarious

1150

::

[craig_sorbo]: oh

1151

::

[brad_herda]: and you could probably

1152

::

[craig_sorbo]: ah

1153

::

[brad_herda]: you said you had a four

1154

::

[steve_doyle]: oh

1155

::

[brad_herda]: year old

1156

::

[steve_doyle]: man

1157

::

[brad_herda]: is that what you said craig

1158

::

[craig_sorbo]: yeah

1159

::

[brad_herda]: yeah this these will be right up

your four year old ally perfect these will

1255

::

[steve_doyle]: yeah

1256

::

[craig_sorbo]: right said you might have to edit

it but hey if i get more votes
