And now for something completely different.

David Spoon:

Here's what's coming up this hour on Today's Experience.

David Spoon:

It's Expository Thursday.

David Spoon:

Expository Thursday.

David Spoon:

So we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the book of Colossians.

David Spoon:

We travel to understand what the things that the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.

David Spoon:

First, Okey dokey, little campers.

David Spoon:

We are in Colossians, and we're picking it up in verse seven.

David Spoon:

That's where we find out there's a gentleman named Epiphras, a beloved and fellow servant who's faithful to Christ.

David Spoon:

He has told the Apostle Paul about the love that the church at Colossae has.

David Spoon:

But there is a major caveat to this theologically intense.

David Spoon:

We find out that this love is in the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

What next?

David Spoon:

Paul then goes on to make it clear that for this reason, because you guys are doing such an excellent job loving in the Holy Spirit, loving one another that way, we've not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you.

David Spoon:

He's letting them know that because they're pursuing the Lord, trying to walk in the name of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit to glorify God the Father.

David Spoon:

The apostle and his pals are not going to stop praying for them because they're doing the right thing and heading in the right direction.

David Spoon:

Finally, Paul concludes by saying he wants them to be bearing fruit in every good work.

David Spoon:

Growing in the knowledge of God.

David Spoon:

Ding, ding, ding, ding.

David Spoon:

Growing in the knowledge of God.

David Spoon:

Ding, ding, ding, ding.

David Spoon:

Growing in the knowledge of God.

David Spoon:

Where do we find the knowledge of God?

David Spoon:

Okay, you get it, right?

David Spoon:

Growing in the knowledge of God is growing in the word of God.

David Spoon:

God created the universe.

David Spoon:

The dude can write a book.

David Spoon:

And if I were you, I would bet my eternity on it.

David Spoon:

Because sometimes you got to survive.

David Spoon:

Living.

David Spoon:

Because sometimes you got to do better than just surviving.

David Spoon:

Prevailing.

David Spoon:

Because sometimes you need to be walking on top of the water.

David Spoon:

Politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations.

David Spoon:

Maybe too many of those spiritual observations, My life's insanities and oy vey, so much more.

David Spoon:

Now remember, it's not professional radio.

David Spoon:

It's just radio.

David Spoon:

So we are asking you very simply, what do you think?

David Spoon:

Get that, get that.

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

You can email us, David.

David Spoon:

Must increase.org David.

David Spoon:

That's me@HemisIncrease.org you don't have to go to the website to just ask a question or send an email.

David Spoon:

You just write from your email, David.

David Spoon:

You can also text.

David Spoon:

Now, why am I slowing down and telling you this?

David Spoon:

You'll understand.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

People are like, well, we know that's the text.

David Spoon:

I know.

David Spoon:

But there's new people that listen.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Normally you can call, but our phone system is broken, so you can't.

David Spoon:

ncrease.org or if you text to:

David Spoon:

My good friend and I.

David Spoon:

Jammin Jacob talking with Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

Sending a text to Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

Sending an email with Jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

Just hearing his voice on the radio show is the same feeling you get when you're being appreciated.

David Spoon:

Oh, that's so nice.

Jacob:

Thank you, David.

Jacob:

Happy Thursday.

David Spoon:

Happy Thursday to you, my friend.

David Spoon:

You know what I forgot to ask you, Are we doing Jake's take?

David Spoon:

You want to do that tomorrow?

David Spoon:

Because I completely forgot.

David Spoon:

What do you think?

David Spoon:

We do it tomorrow?

Jacob:

Let's go and do it tomorrow.

David Spoon:

Yeah.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

We'll do Jake steak tomorrow.

David Spoon:

I do want people to know.

David Spoon:

Normally our phones work, but they're just not working today.

David Spoon:

The podcasts are all up and up to date.

David Spoon:

We will be asking you a trivia question.

David Spoon:

There wasn't one in the last 30 minutes.

David Spoon:

I'm teaching a revelation, and I like revelation and I don't feel like stopping when I start.

Jacob:

And we, we do have Internet back, so I'll be able to put up the episode or the show today on podcast.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

And tomorrow or on Monday, you'll have a new song, a new theme song.

David Spoon:

Yes.

Jacob:

Tomorrow I will have a new intro since we have Internet back, so I'm able to use the Internet.

David Spoon:

So for those that don't know, we've Been out of Internet.

David Spoon:

It's been in and out, in and out, in and out.

David Spoon:

Not really quite like the burger because the burger is actually pretty good.

David Spoon:

Although Al thinks Whataburger is better.

David Spoon:

The bottom line to that, I agree.

David Spoon:

You know, to me it's hard.

David Spoon:

It's like it doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

I mean, it came out of Arizona where there was no burger that was good.

David Spoon:

So it doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

And originally it came out of Detroit where the great thing there was corned beef.

David Spoon:

But that's besides the point.

David Spoon:

We'll get on that later on.

David Spoon:

Here's what I want you guys to know.

David Spoon:

You can still text us and you can still send an email and it could be for what Praise report?

David Spoon:

It could be something you want to share.

David Spoon:

The Lord's blessed you and maybe you just got a real good handle on things or maybe just settling in again.

David Spoon:

I know the political season's heavy in duty and all that stuff, and I'm wanting everything to work out for everybody the best way possible.

David Spoon:

And the best way we can do that is for this nation to understand that the blessing of this nation that comes from God happens when a nation yields to the Lord.

David Spoon:

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.

David Spoon:

We need our God of this nation to be the Lord and not all the man made things.

David Spoon:

And we've got to stop worshiping the creation like the planet or people.

David Spoon:

And we need to really learn to worship the Creator.

David Spoon:

That's the only shot we have.

David Spoon:

You might have a couple of years of reprieve, but after that it'll just be the same mess.

David Spoon:

That's why we got to stay strong in it.

David Spoon:

All right, in lieu of all that that I just rambled on with ramble, ramble, ramble, ramble.

David Spoon:

I just want to get into our first trivia question.

David Spoon:

Let's see if you guys can get this.

David Spoon:

And if you don't, I take my ball and I'm going to go home.

David Spoon:

How about that?

David Spoon:

There you go.

David Spoon:

All right, Here you go.

David Spoon:

James 1:5.

David Spoon:

If any man lacks wisdom, let him what?

David Spoon:

James 1:5.

David Spoon:

If any man lacks wisdom, let him what?

David Spoon:

James, chapter one, verse five.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Davidimusincrease.org david.org in the meantime, I'm going to pull up our DNA because it happened to me again today.

David Spoon:

Again.

David Spoon:

I don't know why.

David Spoon:

I don't you would think at some point in my Christian journey, you know, this 46 years of Christian journey and this really deep commitment to devotions, and I am that weird guy that's super, super committed to devotions.

David Spoon:

I just really believe everything rolls out of the relationship that we have with the Lord.

David Spoon:

I believe that when you read His Word, he speaks to you.

David Spoon:

I believe when you pray, you are talking to Him.

David Spoon:

I believe that's a huge part of the relationship connection.

David Spoon:

In fact, communication is at the essence of every relationship.

David Spoon:

And communication is listening and sharing.

David Spoon:

Listening and talking.

David Spoon:

Listening and talking.

David Spoon:

Okay, all right.

David Spoon:

In lieu of that, I've been doing this for quite, quite, quite some time.

David Spoon:

I'll just say that I've gone well over 25 years not missing a single day doing this and spending an hour with the Lord every day.

David Spoon:

And the key component is what I do, what I fail.

David Spoon:

What I cannot seem to remember because I am not that bright, is I need to start the day with the Lord instead of going through my three or four experiences and then turning back to the Lord.

David Spoon:

So I got up at 6, didn't get to my devotions till 8.

David Spoon:

45.

David Spoon:

I shouldn't have done it that way.

David Spoon:

And I'm telling you why, because it just was, like, weird.

David Spoon:

It just made my morning more frustrating.

David Spoon:

And then once I spent time with the Lord, I was fine.

David Spoon:

Because when you get into the presence of God, everything realigns.

David Spoon:

Your priorities, your push, your pursuits, everything that you're worrying about, that anxiousness loses its grip, that fear diminishes, that frustration lowers.

David Spoon:

And in the face of eternity, everything comes down.

David Spoon:

And when you spend time with God, you're in the face of eternity.

David Spoon:

It's just awesome stuff.

David Spoon:

So here's our DNA that we highly encourage everybody to participate in.

David Spoon:

D stands for Draw Closer to the Lord daily, every day.

David Spoon:

And I understand that you can't do it.

David Spoon:

Some people can't do it at the same time every day.

David Spoon:

Some people have to work around it.

David Spoon:

I get that.

David Spoon:

I just.

David Spoon:

I totally.

David Spoon:

I understand it.

David Spoon:

I've been able to do it.

David Spoon:

But what I'm telling you is get in the habit if you do something.

David Spoon:

So when I worked at New York Life Insurance Co.

David Spoon:

50 trillion years ago, they would say, if you do something for 21 straight days, it becomes a habit.

David Spoon:

And if you don't do it for seven days, you break it.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

I don't know if that's right or not, but I can tell you if you do it for 21 days, you spend time, specifically separated time with the Lord in prayer, in his word.

David Spoon:

If you just make a real commitment to do it for 21 days, at the end of that 21 days, if you're not doing better, then don't keep doing it.

David Spoon:

That's my challenge.

David Spoon:

How about that?

David Spoon:

Ooh, that's good.

David Spoon:

And what is daily?

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

What's the Daily Planet?

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

What's every day that ends in Y.

David Spoon:

Is that daily?

David Spoon:

Okay, good.

David Spoon:

Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David Spoon:

D.

David Spoon:

And never, never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

Luke 9:26.

David Spoon:

If you're ashamed of me and my words, I'll be ashamed of you when I come in the Father's glory with the holy angels.

David Spoon:

You don't want Jesus to be ashamed of you?

David Spoon:

I don't want Jesus to be ashamed of me.

David Spoon:

I might not say, everything right, do everything right, be right.

David Spoon:

But here's one thing I know.

David Spoon:

I'm not ashamed of the word of God.

David Spoon:

I believe that that word is more stable than any science person ever in the universe.

David Spoon:

The word of God is more sure than the foundation of the earth.

David Spoon:

Science changes.

David Spoon:

The truth doesn't change.

David Spoon:

Science goes from this to this to this.

David Spoon:

The truth is always the truth.

David Spoon:

This is so different.

David Spoon:

Never be ashamed of what Jesus had to say.

David Spoon:

God created a universe, right?

David Spoon:

Created the universe.

David Spoon:

You believe that he can write a book.

David Spoon:

Cool.

David Spoon:

Do you draw closer to the Lord daily?

David Spoon:

And never be ashamed of Jesus or his words?

David Spoon:

A.

David Spoon:

Always be ready to serve.

David Spoon:

Just ready.

David Spoon:

Not even.

David Spoon:

Not even.

David Spoon:

It's not even perfect.

David Spoon:

It doesn't.

David Spoon:

We're not saying be perfect.

David Spoon:

Just be ready.

David Spoon:

The Lord doesn't want to use you that day.

David Spoon:

Great.

David Spoon:

But if he does, great, in other words, it's just being in that place.

David Spoon:

And that.

David Spoon:

That's.

David Spoon:

I want to say it better.

David Spoon:

It's being mindful of God.

David Spoon:

It's easy to get distracted.

David Spoon:

Everybody knows it.

David Spoon:

We all.

David Spoon:

Everybody goes through it.

David Spoon:

And when you're doing your work, if you're doing certain things, you're not going to sit there and you're doing numbers and not necessarily thinking of the Lord.

David Spoon:

I'm not talking about that.

David Spoon:

I'm not talking about legalistic.

David Spoon:

I'm talking about.

David Spoon:

We get so caught up in all the things that we think are important.

David Spoon:

And what is it Jesus said?

David Spoon:

Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and everything else shall be added unto you.

David Spoon:

It's like that's the priority and being ready, being attentive, being mindful of whatever the Lord may want, and being a part of his Kingdom.

David Spoon:

That's.

David Spoon:

See, that's cool.

David Spoon:

Get what I'm saying?

Caller or Listener:

All right.

David Spoon:

D.

David Spoon:

Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David Spoon:

A.

David Spoon:

Always be ready to serve.

David Spoon:

Okay, Your trivia question.

David Spoon:

And I'm not going to.

David Spoon:

We're going to actually go into the lesson first, so I'm not going to give you the answer yet.

David Spoon:

James 1:5.

David Spoon:

If any of you lack wisdom, let him.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

Let him what?

David Spoon:

James 1:5.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

You can email us.

David Spoon:

David must increase dot org.

David Spoon:

You just can't call us yet because our phone systems are down.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

And for anybody wondering, can you keep talking without people calling in?

David Spoon:

I did that for the entire first year of my radio ministry.

David Spoon:

So, yes, I actually can.

David Spoon:

All right, here we go.

David Spoon:

I want us to recognize we are in the book Colossians.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

That's C, O, L, O, S S I, A, N S Colossians.

David Spoon:

And we started two weeks ago.

David Spoon:

Last week, we picked it up on Paul saying, always thankful to the Lord, praying for them, hearing about their faith and their love.

David Spoon:

That was based on the hope that was stored up.

David Spoon:

So we talked about that for a while, and now we've moved into.

David Spoon:

Basically, we're in verse seven.

David Spoon:

And so Paul says this from verse six.

David Spoon:

He said, listen.

David Spoon:

He said, all over the world, this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.

David Spoon:

So we left off talking about the grace of God.

David Spoon:

And a lot of people, they hear the gospel, but they don't truly understand the grace of God.

David Spoon:

Grace is unmerited favor.

David Spoon:

You cannot earn it.

David Spoon:

Yes, that's a weak term for it, but it's the best one we got because we're people and you cannot deserve it.

David Spoon:

And when I went my big, big fast, I've told this story many times.

David Spoon:

That's when the Lord tried to teach me, you cannot merit my love.

David Spoon:

You can't get to that place where you deserve it.

David Spoon:

You're entitled to it.

David Spoon:

You earn it.

David Spoon:

Every breath you take is a gift from God.

David Spoon:

And every piece of that gospel that's been transposed into your life, that too is the grace of God.

David Spoon:

And that was awesome.

David Spoon:

Then he says this in verse seven.

David Spoon:

You learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf.

David Spoon:

I love when Paul does this.

David Spoon:

And most people will read through it and just buzz through it.

David Spoon:

But see, when I'm Looking at scripture, I do a slow mo thing.

David Spoon:

I know I shouldn't say.

David Spoon:

I always tell you guys not to read for speed because it's a bad idea.

David Spoon:

Read to hear what God has to say.

David Spoon:

And look at this.

David Spoon:

These two little statements.

David Spoon:

You learned it from Epaphras.

David Spoon:

Who's Epaphras?

David Spoon:

Who's this guy?

David Spoon:

He's a beloved fellow servant.

David Spoon:

It's not just a fellow servant, but Paul's taking the time to say he's beloved.

David Spoon:

I love this guy.

David Spoon:

And he's a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf.

David Spoon:

He's doing it for us.

David Spoon:

He's with us.

David Spoon:

I love these testimonies.

David Spoon:

There are so many people that are testified to in the epistles.

David Spoon:

And I want to say something.

David Spoon:

There are many of you that listen to this show, that text and that call in when the phone's working and that send emails.

David Spoon:

And you guys are.

David Spoon:

You are beloved in my heart.

David Spoon:

Just to be honest.

David Spoon:

You're like beloved fellow servants with me.

David Spoon:

Trying to.

David Spoon:

We're just trying to do the kingdom stuff.

David Spoon:

I mean, nobody does this perfectly.

David Spoon:

And our show's a little whack a doodle.

David Spoon:

We know.

David Spoon:

We don't have a problem with that.

David Spoon:

You know, my wife knows.

David Spoon:

She doesn't have a problem with it often.

David Spoon:

Anyhow.

David Spoon:

The point I'm saying is it's this connection.

David Spoon:

It's this love.

David Spoon:

And he's like, it's not only is this guy a faithful beloved fellow servant, he's a faithful minister of Christ.

David Spoon:

He represents Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

I've talked to many of you.

David Spoon:

I've emailed with many of you.

David Spoon:

I've gotten texts from many of you.

David Spoon:

Many of you are, in fact, faithful ministers of Christ.

David Spoon:

You don't have to have a badge.

David Spoon:

You don't have to have a title to be a faithful minister of Christ.

David Spoon:

You have to be connected to Jesus.

David Spoon:

That's how you do it.

David Spoon:

And many of you do that.

David Spoon:

And don't think it's not.

David Spoon:

I appreciate it.

David Spoon:

If I appreciate it.

David Spoon:

I just say this all the time.

David Spoon:

If I appreciate it, how much more do you think God sees?

David Spoon:

Sees it.

David Spoon:

And yeah, you're not doing everything awesome, but you're doing it.

David Spoon:

And you're doing it for his glory and for his honor.

David Spoon:

And he knows it and he loves it.

David Spoon:

You're a blessing.

David Spoon:

It's okay to think that you're not really a blessing because of you.

David Spoon:

You're a blessing because of the lord.

David Spoon:

Right?

David Spoon:

James 1:5.

David Spoon:

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously.

David Spoon:

And without finding fault.

David Spoon:

Why not find fault?

David Spoon:

Because if he wanted to find fault with you, he could.

David Spoon:

But that's not who he is.

David Spoon:

He gives generously and doesn't try and pick you apart piece by piece.

David Spoon:

Kind of cool, huh?

David Spoon:

All right, we'll take a break and then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the true station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break, we'll be back.

David Spoon:

Don't go anywhere.

David Spoon:

Now, I want to pull this out of Jude.

David Spoon:

Jude only has one chapter.

David Spoon:

Jude is the letter before the book of Revelation.

David Spoon:

Revelation, singular.

David Spoon:

It's the last letter before the book of Revelation.

David Spoon:

And this is what it says in verses 17 through 19.

David Spoon:

I want you to listen to this and then I want you to think about today, all the stuff that's going on.

David Spoon:

I'm not going to go overly political.

David Spoon:

I want you just to think.

David Spoon:

Consider the landscaping that we're all living in right now.

David Spoon:

The landscape of society.

David Spoon:

It says this, but you must remember, beloved, that the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, they said to you in the last times there will be scoffers following their own ungodly passions.

David Spoon:

It is these who cause divisions.

David Spoon:

Worldly people devoid of the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

Now listen to that.

David Spoon:

This is a prophecy that is being brought up by Jude, who is a brother to Jesus.

David Spoon:

Won't Even identify himself that way.

David Spoon:

Brother to James, who was in charge of the church after the James of Peter.

David Spoon:

James John died in Acts 12 and Acts 15.

David Spoon:

The other James kind of ascends to the position of power, so to speak.

David Spoon:

And he's not in charge of everybody.

David Spoon:

He's just kind of leading the show.

David Spoon:

And like Peter did in the early church.

David Spoon:

And this is Jude, his brother and the brother of Jesus.

David Spoon:

And he's telling you gotta remember what the apostle said.

David Spoon:

The apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

He's so humble when he writes that.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's K double Amen 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Getting ready for your next trivia question which you still have to answer by text or by email.

David Spoon:

And I'm going to show you in about two seconds how the email thing works because somebody emailed.

David Spoon:

Jeanette did.

David Spoon:

And I'm going to share what she wrote to me.

David Spoon:

But I just want you to be aware of this next one.

David Spoon:

This is a very important question to ask.

David Spoon:

Okay, trivia question asked.

David Spoon:

This is coming out of First John, chapter 5, verse 12.

David Spoon:

The answer, the fill in answer is the same word.

David Spoon:

So listen to what it is and then you'll probably figure it out.

David Spoon:

But you might need to use the reference.

David Spoon:

Here's your trivia question.

David Spoon:

He that has, the son has, but he that has not, the son has not.

David Spoon:

And you gotta fill that in.

David Spoon:

So he that has the son has.

David Spoon:

Then fill in the blank.

David Spoon:

And he that has not, the son has not and fill in the blank.

David Spoon:

Same word.

David Spoon:

First John chapter 5, verse 12.

David Spoon:

I will give you that opportunity again.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

She said I had a question about why God allows suffering.

David Spoon:

Well, I felt encouraged last night to use the Gideon Bible when she's saying she felt encouraged last night.

David Spoon:

She was probably led there by the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

I felt directed towards Romans chapter 8 and found answers to my questions, especially verses 15 through 39.

David Spoon:

What that means is and especially when you get into this.

David Spoon:

Romans 8:28.

David Spoon:

All things work together for good.

David Spoon:

There is always something going on in the kingdom of God that is deeper than it appears.

David Spoon:

And by that I mean this.

David Spoon:

Everything God allows, he allows for a purpose.

David Spoon:

The Lord doesn't just allow things because he's bored and he's playing God.

David Spoon:

Allows things for purposes.

David Spoon:

We don't always see the purposes.

David Spoon:

A great example is simply the life of Lazarus after he died and Jesus, like, not going anywhere, boy, if he'd have been here, he wouldn't have died, blah, blah, blah.

David Spoon:

But all of that had a greater purpose, a greater backstory to it.

David Spoon:

And I'll give you another example and why this is important.

David Spoon:

We always think it's one thing when God is doing different things.

David Spoon:

And all of these things, God has worked and weaved for purpose and for planet.

David Spoon:

And by that, if you think about Saul before he became king, what was it that he was told to do by his dad, Kish?

David Spoon:

And he was told, hey, go find the donkeys.

David Spoon:

So here's Saul looking for donkeys.

David Spoon:

But then God speaks to Samuel and says, I'm sending you the king.

David Spoon:

So from Saul's point of view and from his dad's point of view and from the family's point of view, this guy's out looking for donkeys.

David Spoon:

He's a pet detective.

David Spoon:

From God's point of view, he's telling the prophet, I'm sending you the king.

David Spoon:

Get ready.

David Spoon:

There is always this other perspective that the Lord is doing things that are way past our understanding.

David Spoon:

And watch this.

David Spoon:

If we trust God.

David Spoon:

Oh, see, there it is.

David Spoon:

If we really trust him, then we will know in his truths that he has declared that everything works together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose.

David Spoon:

And God is going to take what you could not possibly think could be good and turn it into good.

David Spoon:

I mean, I went through a terrible church entrance existence when I first became a Christian.

David Spoon:

The first base church that I really connected to was horrible.

David Spoon:

Wrote the whole book about it.

David Spoon:

Right.

David Spoon:

But from that which took place 40 years ago, 37, 38, 39 years ago, God has created an entire ministry zone to reach and to touch people and to challenge them to draw closer to Him.

David Spoon:

So you'd have to say, in spite of the painfulness, it worked together for good.

David Spoon:

Get that.

David Spoon:

Okay, cool.

David Spoon:

All right, back to the trivia question.

David Spoon:

I don't know why I went on that rant.

David Spoon:

That was for somebody.

David Spoon:

I'm just not sure who.

David Spoon:

You gotta answer this trivia question.

David Spoon:

He that has, the son has and then blank.

David Spoon:

And he that has not, the son has not.

David Spoon:

1 John 5:12.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

And I purposely did not go into this because I'm going to take the time because I don't care.

David Spoon:

Colossians, chapter one.

David Spoon:

We just talked about Epaphras.

David Spoon:

You learned it from Epaphras.

David Spoon:

Our beloved fellow servant just talked about that.

David Spoon:

Who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf.

David Spoon:

Talked about that.

David Spoon:

Verse 8.

David Spoon:

And who has also informed us of your love in the Spirit.

David Spoon:

Large S, not small S.

David Spoon:

Translations that use small S are wrong.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

Greek is not really a debate, but it doesn't matter.

David Spoon:

He has been informed, Paul has, by Epaphras, about their love in the Spirit.

David Spoon:

And the reason that I want to stall on that is because I know how it is for me and I know how it is for others.

David Spoon:

Being a Baptistal, there's always that part of me that's always going to say, and it will never change.

David Spoon:

The word of God is the absolute plumb line, period.

David Spoon:

.:

David Spoon:

And so it's just absurdity.

David Spoon:

Just people say different words in different languages that mean the same thing.

David Spoon:

So when somebody says lake and then somebody else says body of water, it's like, come on.

David Spoon:

It's like, this is absurd.

David Spoon:

Who cares?

David Spoon:

Here's what the point that I'm trying to make in this is.

David Spoon:

The Spirit of God is inside of us because of our faith in Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

The Holy Spirit was given in response to the ministry and in response to the ascension of Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

In Acts, chapter two, the Holy Spirit gets poured out.

David Spoon:

The Holy Spirit is fulfilling the ministry of Jesus on the earth until he returns.

David Spoon:

It's just that simple.

David Spoon:

Not even that complex.

David Spoon:

The love that you encountered with God, which you accessed through faith in Christ, was delivered through the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

And then we can't figure out why.

David Spoon:

We can't figure out the love, even though we're grieving the spirit.

David Spoon:

And Ephesians 4:30 says, Grieve not the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

And it also says, quench not the Holy Spirit.

David Spoon:

To grieve, by the way, is to make sad.

David Spoon:

You don't make sad a power force.

David Spoon:

You make sad a person.

David Spoon:

So that's how you know the Holy Spirit's a person.

David Spoon:

And so then it says, and don't quench, which means there's a pipe there between you and God that the Holy Spirit flows through.

David Spoon:

And sometimes we clog it up with mud.

David Spoon:

And yes, we do remember, if God's far, he didn't move.

David Spoon:

Just remember that That'll make that a lot easier.

David Spoon:

So what he says is, look, Epaphras is telling us you guys are rocking and you're rolling.

David Spoon:

We love it.

David Spoon:

And that he's also acknowledged, you just got this love going in the spirit.

David Spoon:

It's awesome.

David Spoon:

Because of that awesomeness, it's important for us to grasp that.

David Spoon:

Look, he's talking about this love.

David Spoon:

It's a kvet that was found in the spirit of God.

David Spoon:

In fact, Romans chapter 5 says the same things.

David Spoon:

That the love of God was shed abroad in our heart by the Spirit.

David Spoon:

And some of you are out there going, I can't feel the love of God again.

David Spoon:

ly Spirit, Second Corinthians:

David Spoon:

It specifically says it.

David Spoon:

To deny it is bizarre just to deny the word.

David Spoon:

Like, don't do that.

David Spoon:

That's dumb.

David Spoon:

I mean, I'm being nice about it, but it's dumb.

David Spoon:

Okay, your trivia question.

David Spoon:

He who has the sun has.

David Spoon:

He who has not the son has not.

David Spoon:

Blank.

David Spoon:

And the answer is life.

David Spoon:

He who has the sun has life.

David Spoon:

He who has not the sun has not life.

David Spoon:

And that should tell you not to listen to people on the television or even on the radio that don't have life if they don't have the sun.

David Spoon:

Get it?

David Spoon:

Okay, got it.

David Spoon:

All right, we'll take a break and then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

You're break.

David Spoon:

We'll be back.

David Spoon:

Narrator or Announcer:

And those big ears really don't help him.

Narrator or Announcer:

But would they enjoy his perspective on life, culture, politics, food, sports, local and national news?

Narrator or Announcer:

I don't know.

Narrator or Announcer:

I guess people will have to listen to find out.

What is the David Spoon Experience?

David Spoon:

You get into the Word of God.

David Spoon:

And something's going to happen that will blow your mind.

David Spoon:

Ready?

David Spoon:

The law of the Lord is perfect.

David Spoon:

Psalm 119:7 says, able to restore the soul.

David Spoon:

And I have been in.

David Spoon:

I've been doing this for a long time.

David Spoon:

And in my 42 and a half years of devotions and in my diligent devotion time, I kind of separate that between the two.

David Spoon:

I cannot tell you, it must be thousands of times where my attitude has been.

David Spoon:

And then I've went into the Word of God and I came out different.

David Spoon:

It wasn't anything that I did as much as God speaking into me, what he knows about his creation.

David Spoon:

And so I'm asking you, I'm pleading with you, even if you've been a Christian for 50 years, for 60 years, nay, for 70 years, like the Apostle John was on the island of Patmos, be in the Word of God.

David Spoon:

It is alive, and it will give life and impart life to you through God's spirit.

David Spoon:

People come and they read the Word of God and they say, well, I get nothing out of it.

David Spoon:

Well, they don't mix it with faith and the Word of God.

David Spoon:

The promises of God, not mixed with faith, are useless because you have to be engaged with God and know he's going to speak.

David Spoon:

People are like, well, that's a lot of requirement for me to get in there and read the Word of God.

David Spoon:

You want me actually to believe that God's going to speak to me?

David Spoon:

Yes, because he will.

David Spoon:

And if you don't, you won't hear him.

David Spoon:

So when you open up that book, take 30 seconds more than you ever have before and say, just in this moment, just at this time, tune me in, Lord.

David Spoon:

Help me to hear what you have to say.

David Spoon:

Speak to me and let your word.

Caller or Listener:

Breathe life into me.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the truth station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's K double.

David Spoon:

Amen.

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

Sis, getting ready for your next trivia question.

David Spoon:

Ooh, let me just say that real quickly.

David Spoon:

Ooh, here we go.

David Spoon:

This is gonna be tough, but you gotta get it.

David Spoon:

Where did the Pharisees claim Jesus got his power from?

David Spoon:

Matthew, chapter 12, verse 24.

David Spoon:

Where did Jesus.

David Spoon:

Where did the Pharisees claim that Jesus got his power from?

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Where did the Pharisees claim that Jesus got his power from?

David Spoon:

Matthew:

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

You can also send an email, David, at hemustincrease.org I am going to send you up to the website.

David Spoon:

So let's get ready to be sent to the website.

David Spoon:

Let me just make these a couple of notations real fast in regards to the website.

David Spoon:

There is tons, tons of stuff on the website that are challenging, fascinating.

David Spoon:

If you're going through a hard time, there's a whole teaching on that.

David Spoon:

If you're struggling with sin, there's a teaching on that.

David Spoon:

There is just.

David Spoon:

There's a couple of links to other things.

David Spoon:

There's audios, there's videos, there's information on the books.

David Spoon:

If you can't afford one of the books, you tell us and we will get it for you at no cost, no joke.

David Spoon:

And if you've got Kindle already, you can just have it free because it shouldn't be any money on the Kindle.

David Spoon:

And then additionally, there's a place for praise reports and prayer requests.

David Spoon:

And then finally, there is a place to give.

David Spoon:

And Proverbs 3.

David Spoon:

9 says, Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.

David Spoon:

And the Lord challenged me today, saying, you ask people to give, I want you to give.

David Spoon:

And so I gave more than I normally would into different places.

David Spoon:

And it's just like, you know what?

David Spoon:

Sometimes you just gotta roll with it.

David Spoon:

It's a lot more fun to give in this partnership with God than to treat it like a bill or some kind of obligation.

David Spoon:

If you can't give with a joyful heart, don't give it.

David Spoon:

And we certainly don't want it.

David Spoon:

But I'm just encouraging you give with the right spirit and the right heart.

David Spoon:

I want to thank everybody for all the giving that they've done and encourage people who have not given to participate.

David Spoon:

Okay?

David Spoon:

That's all.

David Spoon:

Just keeping it simple.

David Spoon:

Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.

David Spoon:

He doesn't get the leftovers right.

David Spoon:

Cool.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Check it out on the website.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org prayer request.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org praise report.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org looking to give to this ministry.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.

David Spoon:

He must increase.org he must increase.org can't touch this.

David Spoon:

You can't touch this.

David Spoon:

I love that.

David Spoon:

You know what they should be doing at the end every time that the Lions win, they should just play that song.

David Spoon:

That's a good one.

David Spoon:

See, if you waited for Dallas to do that.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Never mind.

David Spoon:

All right, so.

Jacob:

Well, we know which one.

Jacob:

Dallas is the circus one.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

That is not to insult, Sergio.

David Spoon:

It's just funny.

David Spoon:

I'm just saying.

David Spoon:

Okay, your trivia question.

David Spoon:

Where did the Pharisees claim that Jesus got his power from?

David Spoon:

Matthew, chapter 12, verse 24.

David Spoon:

If you think you know.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

Or send an email davidmustincrease.org because our phones are down, that's why.

David Spoon:

All right, we are going to do.

David Spoon:

Let's see history.

David Spoon:

Or.

David Spoon:

No, we did a joke yesterday.

David Spoon:

Let's do history real quickly.

David Spoon:

We'll do history.

David Spoon:

All right, so this is a weird one for.

David Spoon:

It's Hug a Bear Day.

David Spoon:

I'm not sure why anybody would have Hug a Bear Day.

Jacob:

I hope it's a stuffed teddy bear.

David Spoon:

So, I mean, Hug a Bear Day.

David Spoon:

Come here.

David Spoon:

Come here, Yogi.

David Spoon:

Okay.

Jacob:

If it's a real bear, it might not work out for you.

David Spoon:

I think that's a terrible idea.

David Spoon:

Right, Exactly.

David Spoon:

It is also Bittersweet Chocolate and Almonds Day.

David Spoon:

So here's the thing on that.

David Spoon:

Noel likes the bittersweet chocolate.

David Spoon:

I don't like it so much.

David Spoon:

Do you like bittersweet chocolate?

Jacob:

It's okay.

Jacob:

I don't prefer it.

Jacob:

I don't hate it.

Jacob:

But, yeah, it's not for me overall.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

I mean, that's fair.

David Spoon:

I mean, I like milk chocolate, you know, but, you know, anything that starts with the word bitter, it's already got me going.

David Spoon:

Hey, hey.

David Spoon:

All right, here we go.

David Spoon:

l ever, is first published in:

David Spoon:

David Spoon:

And then additionally, just for those who want to know who are into this, the Museum of Modern Art opened to the public in New York City on this day in 19.

David Spoon:

embargo started against us in:

David Spoon:

Anyway, that was a joke.

David Spoon:

Anyway, that's all the history.

David Spoon:

I'm not doing any of the rest of it.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Bittersweet chocolate just threw me off, you know, because then I'm thinking, chocolate sounds good, but bitter or sweet, I know some people really like it.

David Spoon:

Don't get mad at me, okay?

David Spoon:

I'm just like, all right, where did the Pharisees claim Jesus got his power from Matthew, chapter 12, verse 24.

David Spoon:

Don't worry about the spelling.

David Spoon:

Hello.

David Spoon:

Hello.

David Spoon:

Hello.

David Spoon:

Let me get into the next portion.

David Spoon:

This is like the biggest portion.

David Spoon:

I don't care.

David Spoon:

I could probably finish the show on this, but I won't.

David Spoon:

Here's what Paul says.

David Spoon:

He writes, hey, you've learned from.

David Spoon:

We have learned.

David Spoon:

You've learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who's a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf, who also informed us of your love in the Spirit.

David Spoon:

We talked about that verse nine for this reason.

David Spoon:

What reason?

David Spoon:

Well, their love in the Spirit.

David Spoon:

That's the reason he's building on the thought.

David Spoon:

And so when you're reading the Bible, you know, I know we want to separate everything out, but you can also have the continuity, which is probably a good idea, or context, which is essential.

David Spoon:

Is for this reason, since the day we heard about you, we've not stopped praying for you.

David Spoon:

Okay, so let's just stop right there.

David Spoon:

So my children have been.

David Spoon:

Julian's been married.

David Spoon:

I can't remember if she's married 12 years or 13.

David Spoon:

It's really hard to tell.

David Spoon:

I have not stopped praying for Jared, her husband, not one single day, because he blesses my daughter.

David Spoon:

How about that?

David Spoon:

And you think, well, okay, but you should be praying for other people.

David Spoon:

I do.

David Spoon:

But the people that are connected and that are kingdom connected, and they are, because they're youth ministers at a church.

David Spoon:

That is one of the most important elements that can be communicated.

David Spoon:

We need to be praying for these people we love.

David Spoon:

Now, I am a wholehearted, fully committed, and I think most people know you should be praying for people in your family that are lost, and you should be praying for them all the time.

David Spoon:

There's no question.

David Spoon:

But don't overlook the people so close to you.

David Spoon:

Don't overlook the people that are deeply connected to you, that have impact and that do kingdom work and that are a part of the Christian life.

David Spoon:

Pray for them as well.

David Spoon:

You might pray a lot for your.

David Spoon:

Your neighbors, whatever, but you better be praying for your husband, your wife, your children, your in laws, your connections, your.

David Spoon:

All these people.

David Spoon:

I pray for my in laws every single day.

David Spoon:

Don't even have that big of a relationship with them every day.

David Spoon:

And the reason is because they have participated in producing a child that has blessed my children.

David Spoon:

I'm gonna pray for them.

David Spoon:

And we should be thinking along those lines.

David Spoon:

I know that's crazy, but like, I pray for Noel probably, well, like two or three times a day.

David Spoon:

Plus we pray together before we separate.

David Spoon:

Every single day, period.

David Spoon:

And it's not long.

David Spoon:

We don't sit there and go, oh, Lord, we want to thank you for all the haystacks that are out there.

David Spoon:

We're not doing that, but we're acknowledging that we are a gift to one another.

David Spoon:

We just pray over that and pray for our protections and for us to stay close and connected.

David Spoon:

And that's important.

David Spoon:

And why that's important is because if you could just do it where you didn't have to make it, where it's legalistic, it means so much more and it produces so much more.

David Spoon:

So it's like, we haven't stopped praying for you guys since we heard of you.

David Spoon:

Here's the thing.

David Spoon:

I'm going to tell you that you don't know.

David Spoon:

Maybe you know, maybe you don't know.

David Spoon:

Every single person that has reached us through Internet, through text, well, let's just say through email, through text, through any forms, through telephone or any other letter of communication, anything whatsoever.

David Spoon:

I have not stopped praying for you since we started the show because you're a blessing and you need to think about that.

David Spoon:

And if somebody's blessed you, you need to be praying for them.

David Spoon:

I mean, I was thinking about.

David Spoon:

Deborah had said this, just a beautiful thing about Joanne and Cordelia and that they were an encouragement and a blessing.

David Spoon:

See, that's the kind of thing, that's the kind of spirit that we should have amongst each other.

David Spoon:

They haven't even met.

David Spoon:

They love each other in the Lord.

David Spoon:

How awesome is that?

David Spoon:

That's what I'm talking about.

David Spoon:

And Paul's like, hey, and remember this church?

David Spoon:

Remember this whole thing about this church?

David Spoon:

Paul never met these people.

David Spoon:

He never met them.

David Spoon:

Epiphras was the go between.

David Spoon:

Never met them face to face, which we're going to get into that teaching later on.

David Spoon:

Never met them face to face, but they don't stop praying for him.

David Spoon:

We heard about you.

David Spoon:

We love you.

David Spoon:

We're not going to stop praying for you.

David Spoon:

Don't stop praying for one another.

David Spoon:

That's just huge.

David Spoon:

I don't know.

David Spoon:

How do you say that?

David Spoon:

Oh, you say it with a Y now to make it really pronounced.

David Spoon:

It's huge.

David Spoon:

If they did that in my elementary school, you would have got a demerit.

David Spoon:

Anyhow, go back to the trivia question, then we'll figure out.

David Spoon:

This last teach is really phenomenal.

David Spoon:

Well, where did the Pharisees claim Jesus got his power from?

David Spoon:

Matthew, chapter 12, verse 24.

David Spoon:

Beelzebub.

David Spoon:

That's what they claimed.

David Spoon:

Beelzebub.

David Spoon:

Most people who have no idea where God is doing or how God is doing.

David Spoon:

Even the religious people usually attribute it to Satan, which is just like being like 5 years old, you know?

David Spoon:

Come on.

David Spoon:

I mean, really get a life.

David Spoon:

Okay, I will take our break here and then come back.

David Spoon:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Short break.

David Spoon:

We'll be back.

David Spoon:

The David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

You don't know what's going to happen.

Caller or Listener:

In one minute, let alone one hour from now.

David Spoon:

And God, who it's impossible for God to lie, has made this commitment, made this offer, made this opportunity to both you and me and all of us around.

David Spoon:

The simplicity is that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that the wages of that sin, the wages falling short, is death.

David Spoon:

But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

David Spoon:

And God, demonstrating his love for us, sent Jesus Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

David Spoon:

And if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, you will be saved.

David Spoon:

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

David Spoon:

There is nothing more important than that principle right there, the hope that is offered to believers who acknowledge and surrender to the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Caller or Listener:

That's what's being offered.

David Spoon:

That's what gives you encouragement.

David Spoon:

That's what enables you to go on.

David Spoon:

You're going to have a lot of sorrow in this life.

David Spoon:

Job said it best.

David Spoon:

A man's days are few and full of trouble.

David Spoon:

But in the next, there is something so wonderful that even in man's mind we cannot retain it.

David Spoon:

For eye has not seen, neither his.

Caller or Listener:

Ear heard, neither can the heart comprehend, can't even receive the great things which God has prepared for them that love him.

Caller or Listener:

There's such a great thing that's coming for us.

Caller or Listener:

Such a great place, such a wondrous place.

Caller or Listener:

But you got to acknowledge the invitation.

Caller or Listener:

You got to say yes.

Caller or Listener:

Because if you don't say yes, you're not going to that wedding, the wedding of the Lamb.

Caller or Listener:

Don't be that person.

Caller or Listener:

Don't be that person that rejects it.

Caller or Listener:

Don't be that person that lives in sorrow and grief and in sadness.

David Spoon:

Don't be that person.

Caller or Listener:

Be the one that says yes so that you can be a part of the great wedding feast.

Caller or Listener:

That you can be a part of the great celebration.

Caller or Listener:

No, life is much more than this.

Caller or Listener:

60, 70, 80, 90 years it's eternity on the line.

Caller or Listener:

And if you've already said yes, rest in the comfort, rest in that place, rest in that goodness, that all is well.

Caller or Listener:

And even on this side, if it's hard on the other side, it's glorious.

Narrator or Announcer:

Amazing grace.

David Spoon:

How sweet.

David Spoon:

Oh.

David Spoon:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David Spoon:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the truce station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

That's Kaaman 770, the truth station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

Quick reminder, I will not be responding to any Texas till after 4, probably about 4:15.

David Spoon:

So for those that are normally getting my text before then, it will not be till 4:15 today.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

Nothing will really happen before that.

David Spoon:

Here's your last trivia question.

David Spoon:

Pretty straightforward.

David Spoon:

By the way, Jill, Nancy's daughter, is getting out of the hospital or is out of the hospital.

David Spoon:

I'd really like everybody to continue to pray for Nancy and her daughter Jill.

David Spoon:

I'm asking everybody to share with me in that prayer time.

David Spoon:

She's just asking for prayers.

David Spoon:

But the good news, we've been praying for Jill and she is dismissed from the hospital.

David Spoon:

So just keep them in prayer, please.

David Spoon:

It doesn't take you but 30 seconds to offer up a prayer.

David Spoon:

And if you have 30 seconds and use faith, you can see a miracle.

David Spoon:

That's what's so cool.

David Spoon:

All right, here's your last trivia question.

David Spoon:

Concerning which disciple did the rumor spread that he would not die?

David Spoon:

Can't even give you the reference because it will give it away.

David Spoon:

Concerning which disciple did the rumor spread that he would not die?

David Spoon:

Which disciple did they say?

David Spoon:

Oh, he said he's not going to die.

David Spoon:

Which disciple?

David Spoon:

Individually, your only hint.

David Spoon:

We're teaching about his book in the first 30 minutes on Thursdays.

David Spoon:

You guys should be able to pick it up from that right there.

David Spoon:

Teaching on the book he wrote.

David Spoon:

Okay, if you think you know.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

No phone today.

David Spoon:

Phones are down.

David Spoon:

-:

David Spoon:

You can also send an email.

David Spoon:

David must increase.org David must increase.org okay, so you can send an email or you can text.

David Spoon:

Phones are down.

David Spoon:

So simple question.

David Spoon:

Who, rumor wise, concerning which disciple did the rumor spread that he would not die?

David Spoon:

Your hint.

David Spoon:

I'm teaching this on Thursday, by the way.

David Spoon:

Today is Thursday in the first 30 minutes of the show on Thursdays now.

David Spoon:

So you should kind of know what that is.

David Spoon:

In the meantime, we will do these brief jokes and then we will do the teaching and these are very fast and very good jokes.

David Spoon:

Two of them are very good.

David Spoon:

You ready?

David Spoon:

You ready?

David Spoon:

All right.

Jacob:

Okay, I'm ready.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

That's the first time you really get to talk other than me saying jam and Jacob.

David Spoon:

Wow.

David Spoon:

Hello.

Jacob:

Hello.

Jacob:

Everyone still here?

David Spoon:

He's still there, folks.

David Spoon:

Right there.

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

How did the frozen chicken cross the road?

David Spoon:

How did the frozen chicken cross the road?

David Spoon:

In a shopping bag.

David Spoon:

Frozen chicken across the road in a shopping bag.

David Spoon:

What is the hardest thing about learning to skate?

David Spoon:

What's the hardest thing about learning to skate?

David Spoon:

The ground.

David Spoon:

And your last one, which I, of course, think is brilliant.

David Spoon:

And if you don't think it's brilliant, you might not have any Yiddish in you.

David Spoon:

What kind of bagel can fly?

David Spoon:

What kind of bagel can fly?

David Spoon:

A plane bagel.

David Spoon:

A plane bagel.

David Spoon:

Come on.

David Spoon:

That's a good one.

David Spoon:

I don't care.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

You were like, what is with you people?

David Spoon:

Who knows?

David Spoon:

All right, here we go.

David Spoon:

Concerning which disciple did the rumors spread that he would not die?

David Spoon:

He also wrote the book that we're teaching on Thursdays, like, earlier today.

David Spoon:

I can't give you the reference I would give you, but you should know it's one of the Gospels.

David Spoon:

Okay, here we go.

David Spoon:

Last little thing that we're gonna do on this teach.

David Spoon:

This is just so cool.

David Spoon:

And I probably blew a lot of this, but it's okay.

David Spoon:

For this reason, Paul said, Colossians, chapter one, verse nine, since we heard about you, have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will and all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and that you may please him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work.

David Spoon:

So there's something in this that is superbly important, and that is this.

David Spoon:

Paul is praying that the Colossians will be filled with the knowledge of God's will.

David Spoon:

And there's a prayer that you just want to know and do that, what the Lord wants.

David Spoon:

So he mentions that he wants them to have a grasp on spiritual wisdom and understanding so they walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.

David Spoon:

Now, you're not going to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord that deserves you salvation or justification.

David Spoon:

But that doesn't mean we don't have the responsibility to reflect the goodness that God has brought into our lives.

David Spoon:

And this is part of the problem that people, they can't seem to put these together.

David Spoon:

And I'm not sure why, because you don't have to.

David Spoon:

If you stop picking a camp to sit in theologically, you can get a lot more out of your theological life.

David Spoon:

Here's what Paul is trying to communicate.

David Spoon:

Look, I'm praying for you that you would be filled with the knowledge of his will, that you would know his will, and that you would walk in a manner that's worthy of the Lord, and that you would please him in what you're doing.

David Spoon:

And so the things that we do are supposed to be pleasing unto the Lord.

David Spoon:

A lot of this has to do with us getting a grasp or getting a handle on what does the Lord want.

David Spoon:

And that comes into this category of spiritual wisdom and understanding.

David Spoon:

Paul is praying that they would get it.

David Spoon:

I know that sounds so ridiculous, but he's praying.

David Spoon:

I just want you guys to really understand.

David Spoon:

I want you to get his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding so that you can walk in a way that honors him, so you can please him.

David Spoon:

Wait, wait.

David Spoon:

So that you're bearing fruit in every good work.

David Spoon:

Some of us walk in a manner that are worthy in a lot of areas.

David Spoon:

And then in other areas, we're really kind of poor in that, hey, here's a great idea.

David Spoon:

Ask God to help.

David Spoon:

Just be honest about the evaluation.

David Spoon:

Just be the kind of person that just says, hey, Lord, I can do better.

David Spoon:

I was telling you earlier today, so before I did my devotions, I had this situation where somebody charged us.

David Spoon:

It wasn't like it was a lot, but they charged us inappropriately and they wouldn't own it.

David Spoon:

You know, it's kind of thing.

David Spoon:

It's one of those companies kind of thing.

David Spoon:

And I was less than Christ.

David Spoon:

Like, is that a good way to put that right?

David Spoon:

Because it's like, I really don't like that.

David Spoon:

But it's not a reason for me to not reflect Jesus Christ.

David Spoon:

It's like, well, I understand that.

David Spoon:

And I get mad.

David Spoon:

I know I get mad, but sometimes you get mad and it goes maybe too far, or you say your things or have an attitude they shouldn't have.

David Spoon:

Paul is praying, don't be that way.

David Spoon:

You've got to walk in a manner worthy of Jesus.

David Spoon:

I mean, the fact of the matter is, and I know people don't like this, but if Jesus was sitting on the couch next to me when I had that little conversation, do you think he would have went, oh, yeah, that's right.

David Spoon:

You tell him.

David Spoon:

You tell him.

David Spoon:

You tell him what you think.

David Spoon:

Dave.

David Spoon:

I have a feeling in my heart and mind that Jesus wouldn't always give me a thumbs up in some of my conversations.

David Spoon:

Not so much on the radio.

David Spoon:

It's the other ones.

David Spoon:

And it's like, look, I do want to do a better job.

David Spoon:

I actually repented and asked God to forgive because it's like, I want to do the stuff that pleases him, not because I'm thinking pleasing him, you know, is like, that assures my salvation.

David Spoon:

He's just done so much for me and put up with me.

David Spoon:

I mean, put up with me.

David Spoon:

I mean, I'm impressed that my wife could put up with me.

David Spoon:

But God has put up with me at every level.

David Spoon:

And because of that every level, I want to please him.

David Spoon:

I want to do for him because I love Him.

David Spoon:

Him.

David Spoon:

That's why.

David Spoon:

Get that?

David Spoon:

Okay.

David Spoon:

All right.

David Spoon:

Concerning the disciples, which disciple had the rumor spread that he would not die?

David Spoon:

The answer is John, the Apostle John, who wrote the Book of Revelation, of which we're studying on Thursdays in the first 30 minutes.

David Spoon:

So you can't miss that.

David Spoon:

Okay, they'll leave it there.

David Spoon:

Eric wants to know if I turned over the money tables a little bit.

David Spoon:

Just not in righteousness.

David Spoon:

All right, folks, remember, no text till later.

David Spoon:

You've been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KWAM 770, the truth station here in Texas.

David Spoon:

22 and a half hour break, then we'll come back.

David Spoon:

More insanity with Spoon Energy.

David Spoon:

Talk to you then.

David Spoon:

Can't stand the skill, can't stand the shame.

:

It may be false, but it feels the same.
