Hello, and welcome to who are you?
Xhafer:A Babylon five watch cast hosted by two friends.
Xhafer:Who've gotten to know each other and will continue to get to know each other
Xhafer:while rewatching one of their favorite shows from their childhood Babylon five.
Xhafer:I'm sure.
Xhafer:Fair.
Laura:And I'm
Xhafer:And we're going to talk a bit about star Trek, Las Vegas.
Laura:Yes, we haven't got to recap that for everybody
Xhafer:Yeah, we, yeah, we didn't get to do it last week.
Xhafer:Cause I was out with the vid and Ben gracious has ever filled in.
Xhafer:Thank
Xhafer:for giving me a week off, I needed it and really appreciate And also
Xhafer:it was kind of surreal and fun to listen to my podcast without
Xhafer:Uh, it was a unique experience.
Xhafer:I made a point of listening to it before I watched the episode, because
Xhafer:I will never be able to do that again.
Xhafer:Presumably.
Laura:That's true.
Laura:Yes.
Laura:Okay.
Xhafer:so I, I took full advantage to get as much of a different
Xhafer:experience of our podcast as I could.
Xhafer:And I really enjoyed it.
Laura:Oh, I'm glad you enjoy our podcast.
Xhafer:Yeah, it was fun.
Xhafer:It was a, it was a good listen and it made me want to actually go watch the
Xhafer:episode, which I was not super keen on.
Xhafer:Cause I don't.
Xhafer:It's not like I resent anything.
Xhafer:but I was just ill.
Xhafer:Uh,
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:but it definitely gave me, it's like, oh, I'm going
Xhafer:to go watch that episode.
Xhafer:Uh, it gave me the energy really drove me So, yeah, it was, it was a
Xhafer:cool experience that I hope you don't have to experience one day, unless
Xhafer:you want to, for whatever reason.
Laura:Right, right.
Laura:I was going to volunteer.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:but it is totally something that you should do and something I recommend to
Xhafer:other podcasters who may be listening.
Laura:Yeah, and I really appreciated Ben stepping in and fill in your shoes.
Laura:He did a great job.
Xhafer:Yeah, Ben's great.
Laura:Good
Xhafer:I mean, it says I've recorded 150 hours of podcast with him.
Xhafer:So,
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:he, he fit right in.
Xhafer:He knew he knew my jokes.
Xhafer:He made some of the same jokes I would have made, is good.
Xhafer:He did a great job.
Xhafer:Thanks Ben.
Xhafer:But we're Ben wasn't.
Xhafer:And I'm saying this now that I've said nice things, so I can make
Xhafer:him jealous with star Trek, Las
Laura:It's true.
Laura:He could not fill these shoes.
Laura:So we've got to, we've got to run it down for everybody.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:we,
Xhafer:we met for the first time.
Xhafer:we were originally, I think I've been set on radio.
Xhafer:The plan was to record it.
Xhafer:And put it on and then if something terrible had happened, Uh, to the
Xhafer:audio quality you wouldn't be able to.
Xhafer:And that was a hundred percent the plan.
Xhafer:Until we ran into each other in a hallway.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:I'm just like standing in the hallway waiting because I didn't have the fancy,
Laura:captains pass or whatever you all had.
Laura:And so I'm waiting in the hallway just to,
Laura:you know, Get my.
Laura:I get my day, pass and all of a sudden I'm like, I hear my name.
Laura:And I'm like, oh,
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:There's a fair.
Xhafer:yeah, Beth and I were there.
Xhafer:We had walked past you and our lake.
Xhafer:We had gotten maybe like 20 people down the line and I'm like, that was Laura.
Xhafer:And that's all like turn around dummy.
Xhafer:Go say hi.
Laura:hadn't noticed you so you could have gone on it.
Laura:I would have had no idea, but
Laura:I appreciate that you came back.
Xhafer:Yes.
Xhafer:Well, I was kinda just like, was that it must've hurt, like right.
Xhafer:And then, and then.
Xhafer:of course I was pointed, proper.
Xhafer:Uh, by Beth who is a hundred percent correct, then go say hi.
Xhafer:Um,
Xhafer:So,
Laura:Very sweet.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:No, and it was a, it was a grand we went to the greatest
Xhafer:generation podcast meetup.
Xhafer:Which was so loud, I could not hear myself think.
Laura:Yeah, that's true.
Laura:It was very loud, but it was so cool to like meet people that I.
Laura:Kind of.
Laura:You know, spoken to a little bit on the internet.
Laura:right?
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:I am not active at all.
Xhafer:On most of the greatest generation social medias.
Xhafer:has evidenced by Ben being the one who was all like, Hey, there's someone named
Xhafer:Laura who wants to start a Babylon five podcast and hollered at me, about it.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:but it was cooled.
Xhafer:I definitely recognize some names.
Xhafer:and had a great time and made some new friends.
Laura:Yeah, I really enjoyed the community.
Laura:Especially everyone from the greatest generation community
Laura:that I met, I wound up.
Laura:Just being, Just being in that Greatest generation.
Laura:Friend verse that was there.
Laura:Uh, getting to go to a couple of after parties that were pretty cool.
Laura:Um, one of them was being hosted by the mission log podcast.
Laura:And.
Laura:You know, we, we went to the, um, star Trek wines tasting together.
Laura:You, me, Beth and my husband, Erin.
Laura:like
Xhafer:we got to try the world.
Xhafer:Premier of Romulan ale, which was a blast.
Laura:except they, you can't call it all legally.
Laura:Because it is a vodka and
Xhafer:It is a vodka.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:But.
Laura:I just had so much fun with the community.
Laura:I saw some panels.
Laura:I went to a few.
Xhafer:I went to a lot of panels.
Xhafer:Um, that was my bread and butter at the con that One of the reasons
Xhafer:I went was to attend a ton of panels and I'm super glad I did.
Xhafer:George Takei gave an excellent hour.
Xhafer:just very a somber.
Xhafer:obviously a lot of it in the Sean Nichols has just recently passed.
Xhafer:so a lot of it was directed towards her.
Xhafer:His hour was someone had asked a question about Michelle, I think.
Xhafer:And then the rest of the 40 minutes was him talking about every cast
Xhafer:member in the order of their passing and the impact they had on his life.
Laura:Oh, that's very sweet.
Xhafer:just talking for like 20 minutes about Leonard Nimoy showing up at
Xhafer:the first performance of allegiance.
Xhafer:Like in a wheelchair because he was barely ate.
Xhafer:Like he was so sick then.
Xhafer:and just like how important everyone was and what a family, they all
Xhafer:And it was super, super heartwarming and, uh, super sad.
Laura:I caught a little bit of Walter Kanig.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:How has
Laura:and his.
Laura:was good.
Laura:It was just the whole time I sat there.
Laura:I was feeling very trippy because every time I hear Walter caning
Laura:speak in not the Russian accent.
Laura:Uh, I hear Bester
Laura:and so I was just sitting there watching old Bester.
Laura:Speaking on stage and all that's all I could think about the whole time.
Xhafer:Slowly messing with everyone's minds.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:He had very nice things to say about Nichelle Nichols and, talked
Laura:about some invasive experiences.
Laura:He had a hard time hearing when people asked him questions.
Laura:Like a really hard time, but he was.
Laura:A real trooper about it.
Laura:Like he would just
Laura:have the person on stage with him, like say it in his ear so he could.
Laura:Answer your question.
Laura:And yeah, it's very
Xhafer:Did you have any celebrity moments outside of, panels?
Laura:Like talking to celebrities
Xhafer:We're just seeing, like I've got like five stories.
Laura:Oh, yeah.
Laura:I know some of yours.
Laura:Um, well I almost ran into Anson Mount, like was not
Laura:paying attention in the hallway.
Laura:Like, you know, I was on my phone.
Laura:It was
Laura:before Erin had gotten there.
Laura:So I wasn't really with anybody.
Laura:Ed.
Laura:then there's these people just booking it down the hallway and I dodged
Laura:really quick and I realized, oh, it's Anson mountain, his handler.
Laura:I think they were on the way to the, Strange new worlds panel.
Laura:but I was not paying attention, so I mostly, almost got run over.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:What about you?
Xhafer:Well, the first like Thursday or Wednesday night or something, it was, uh,
Xhafer:we ran into Terry Farrell outside of an
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:I was completely starstruck.
Xhafer:I was just like, uh, I didn't, I just couldn't form words.
Xhafer:but she was super nice.
Xhafer:everyone was super nice.
Xhafer:Um, did I tell you about Denise Crosby?
Xhafer:Almost making me cry.
Laura:No.
Laura:Tell me about
Xhafer:so we, had a nice dinner at a steak and did he, his Crosby was
Xhafer:at the bar with I'm guessing her handler or a friend or something.
Xhafer:It was just like drinking and shooting the shit.
Xhafer:Right.
Xhafer:And so it's like, you know, Get your space, you have fun.
Xhafer:Like I've always been of the mind.
Xhafer:Like if you run into a celebrity or something, Um, and this has happened to
Xhafer:me before and like my childhood, this is the, like the example my dad said,
Xhafer:I remember I was like, 15 or 16, and we were at a bace place for my birthday.
Xhafer:And at the table sat one of the Detroit lions.
Laura:Hm.
Xhafer:It was like him, his wife, and then like me having my birthday.
Xhafer:There with them.
Xhafer:you know, and my dad was always just like, you'd just treat them.
Xhafer:They're just a person, you know, everyone's a person
Xhafer:just treat them like people.
Xhafer:And don't ignore don't acknowledge anything.
Xhafer:Don't ask them for their autograph or something, you know?
Xhafer:And my dad was just like, at the end of dinner, shook, his hand
Xhafer:was like, good luck this season.
Laura:Oh,
Xhafer:know, like, and that's it.
Xhafer:Just like an acknowledgement.
Xhafer:And so I've always been of the mind.
Xhafer:That's what you do, right.
Xhafer:Like you just let them be a person they're existing.
Xhafer:They don't owe you anything by being at this convention.
Laura:Yeah, sure.
Xhafer:And the amount, every actor I ran into just put out Denise Crosby
Xhafer:saw a little girl in a uniform, sitting at the table next to Beth,
Xhafer:and I like a table over from us.
Xhafer:And she waved.
Xhafer:Denise Crosby came over and spent 10 minutes telling this
Xhafer:little girl to live her dreams.
Xhafer:She could do anything she wanted in her Talk to her about her
Xhafer:favorite star Trek was all like, who's your favorite character?
Xhafer:And she's like Janeway.
Xhafer:And she's like, oh, I love.
Xhafer:You know, I love Catherine and all this stuff and just goes on, you
Xhafer:know, it's like, okay, it's such a great person to, you know, and all
Xhafer:this stuff and just like reinforced everything and was just the most.
Xhafer:Wholesome thing.
Xhafer:I was almost brought to tears.
Xhafer:Have I at, at like my fancy, like I'm literally like eating a nice steak
Xhafer:and drinking, widen, almost crying.
Xhafer:Well, this is going
Laura:That's adorable.
Xhafer:Is so adorable.
Xhafer:At one point, I held an elevator.
Xhafer:And struck loft and jumped
Xhafer:And, and once he's just like go into his room, right?
Xhafer:Like we're not going up to anywhere where there stuff we're going
Xhafer:to the, where you stay area.
Xhafer:And he was just so nice.
Xhafer:He was just like, there was someone in Cura, cosplay, and he's like
Xhafer:major good to see you and stuff.
Xhafer:And like just did the whole thing and was super nice to everyone.
Xhafer:And no one had even.
Xhafer:Said anything to him.
Xhafer:You know, and he just approached all of us and was super congenial
Xhafer:and just super great to be around.
Laura:Yeah, he seems like a nice dude.
Xhafer:Yeah, he's
Laura:On the last day, We were hanging out at the Bally's bar and we were trying
Laura:to figure out what we were going to do.
Laura:This was a greatest gen group.
Laura:And then we realized that like Tim Russ had just taken a seat over at the bar.
Laura:And there were a couple of people we'd kind of talked to earlier
Laura:that day and we were like, Hey.
Laura:Can we sit with you
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:Uh, so we were like sitting.
Laura:You know, six feet from Tim Russ, but we were not in the same group.
Laura:Like we were talking in our own group and we
Laura:were trying not really hard, not to be But just wanted to dislike, sit in the vibes.
Laura:Of Tim Russ.
Laura:And he was talking to the Roddenberry's, like the Roddenberry's the,
Laura:um, The band.
Laura:were there.
Laura:And they re they like pulled out one of their guitars and he was
Laura:sitting there playing their guitar.
Laura:And
Laura:they were just like jamming together at the Belize bar.
Xhafer:Yeah, I stayed on the same floor as them.
Xhafer:I ran into them all weekend.
Laura:Oh, Nice.
Xhafer:Roddenberry's and then also
Xhafer:a dominant Keating was on our floor, saw him once coming out.
Xhafer:And then, um, max Grodan check room was two or three down from mine.
Xhafer:So I like saw him with his granddaughter and stuff.
Xhafer:Yeah, it was super adorable.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:All right.
Xhafer:Well, that's, that's a ton of stories from star Trek, Las Vegas.
Xhafer:I guess we've made our confessions.
Xhafer:On star Trek, Las Vegas.
Xhafer:Uh, so we can get into season two episode, 18 confessions and limitations.
Laura:Very nice.
Laura:Very nice.
Xhafer:I have a little bit before this episode.
Xhafer:cause this.
Xhafer:Nothing against Ben.
Xhafer:You did a great job, but didn't have quite my level of research.
Xhafer:I like in an episode.
Xhafer:So,
Laura:tried, man.
Laura:I
Laura:did
Xhafer:you know, you did good.
Xhafer:I'm just, I'm just throwing a little shade.
Xhafer:I'm just, I'm just being a Dick.
Xhafer:Don't worry about it.
Xhafer:Um, no.
Xhafer:Uh, there actually was a bunch of stuff about this episode online.
Xhafer:About Scientology.
Laura:Ah, wait, why?
Xhafer:This episode has nothing to do with Scientology and JMS was like,
Xhafer:I find it a board just like anytime anyone brought it up, you just like,
Xhafer:why do you keep bringing this Well, he kept, they kept getting brought up
Xhafer:because the mark Habs are apparently the species of alien in Dianetics,
Xhafer:which is the foundation of Scientology.
Laura:No
Laura:way.
Xhafer:He had no idea.
Laura:Yeah, I
Laura:didn't
Xhafer:he's just like if I had known, I would never have
Xhafer:used it in the first place.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:this wasn't me and a bunch of people, I guess, saw this world like, oh,
Xhafer:he's saying all the Scientologists are going to die and it's just like, whoa.
Xhafer:No, I'm not, I would never make an episode about Scientology because
Xhafer:that might lend it credibility.
Laura:Yeah, right.
Xhafer:it was his stance.
Xhafer:The entire time was just all like, no, I would never entertain the idea
Xhafer:of even mentioning Scientologists.
Xhafer:They're terrible.
Xhafer:So.
Laura:Okay.
Xhafer:so if you cut were re listening to this or you watched it and you thought it
Xhafer:had something to do a Scientology because they're familiar with the Marquette
Xhafer:from that it is a quid incidence.
Xhafer:This is not a attack on Scientology.
Xhafer:Even the JMS has comments definitely were.
Xhafer:Um, that was not the intention of the episode.
Laura:He can do that without an episode, you can
Xhafer:Yeah, he doesn't, he would not spend an hour of TV
Xhafer:taking down Scientologists.
Xhafer:He'll make four posts in 1994 and we'll read them on a podcast 20 years later.
Xhafer:30
Laura:That's a good use of his time.
Xhafer:For sure.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:So we start this episode and, we're in CNC.
Laura:There's a mark Hab transport ships.
Laura:That's 10 hours overdue and Ivana was worried about them.
Xhafer:Yep.
Laura:She had shared in decide to send a stir-fry squadron.
Laura:And they're going to send Zeta squadron out there.
Laura:it comes up when they're assigning Zeta squadron to this, that
Laura:Lieutenant kefir has been off.
Laura:Doing some off-duty flying time
Laura:and
Xhafer:some reconnaissance.
Laura:Yeah, he's out looking for the thing he saw in hyperspace is the.
Laura:Implication.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:And Sheridan immediately knows.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:after that
Xhafer:last episode.
Xhafer:AF after last episode, after seeing the shadows with Mr.
Xhafer:Borden, he's just like, We can not provoke this, bear before we're ready to fight it.
Xhafer:You need to knock this shit off immediately.
Xhafer:And he doesn't say it directly like that, but he does just like.
Xhafer:Immediately and unilaterally just put a stop to it.
Xhafer:It's all like, no, that's done.
Xhafer:No questions asked and we're not entertaining this Dawn.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:So we go to some mark Hab quarters and Dr.
Laura:Franklin is looking at a dead mark Hab.
Laura:there's a mark Hab doctor there.
Laura:Lazarin is his And he's saying that this death is natural causes, but, uh,
Laura:there's been a, quite a few natural causes deaths among the Mar cab lately.
Laura:And Dr.
Laura:Franklin wants to check it out a little
Xhafer:Did you clock the actor, Andre, all the loaf.
Laura:You know, I didn't clock this actor.
Laura:I cocked a different one later.
Laura:Tell me about
Xhafer:This is Jim Norton.
Xhafer:We've seen him before.
Xhafer:He's, uh, own beds.
Xhafer:Wellington, the judge from
Laura:Oh, yes, yes, yes, no.
Laura:We did clock this one.
Laura:It was later in the episode when, when we were like, we've heard this voice before
Laura:we had.
Laura:it's ombuds, Wellington.
Xhafer:Yeah, this is his second of three characters that he will play.
Xhafer:In the series.
Laura:Oh, really?
Laura:So we're going to get a third.
Xhafer:He gets a third.
Xhafer:It's later.
Xhafer:And I won't spoil it.
Xhafer:The character name in itself is a spoiler.
Laura:Okay.
Laura:Maybe I'll recognize that one.
Laura:We'll see.
Xhafer:You will recognize the name.
Xhafer:I promise.
Laura:Well, I will.
Laura:I recognize him as the actor.
Laura:That's the question.
Xhafer:I had no idea.
Xhafer:It was the same guy last time when I watched this, but I also was
Xhafer:not paying as close attention.
Xhafer:Last time I watched Babylon But yeah.
Xhafer:So Franklin is a little bit worried about all these deaths by natural causes.
Xhafer:It is statistically improbable for this many.
Xhafer:of any species to die from natural causes that quickly
Xhafer:based off their, uh, population
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:And we get a dramatic candle blowing out to theme.
Laura:I saw this candle thing.
Laura:And I was like, yeah, I've seen these in the nineties.
Laura:I've seen these at.
Laura:At weddings,
Laura:you know,
Xhafer:The most candles I've ever seen in one place.
Xhafer:I have family that is Greek Orthodox.
Laura:Oh,
Laura:I'm very proud candle people.
Xhafer:Uh, very proud candle people.
Xhafer:Over the course of the four hour something ceremony I sat through.
Xhafer:Uh,
Laura:Yup.
Xhafer:Lots of candles to look
Xhafer:We cut back on a van over briefing the pilots and support
Xhafer:crew on the mark Hab ship.
Xhafer:who gives key for the news of no more trips out, which he's not happy about.
Laura:Yeah, he doesn't take it.
Laura:Great.
Xhafer:No.
Laura:Yes, she has to invoke chain of command a little bit.
Laura:I think.
Xhafer:yeah, he's all like, there's something out there.
Xhafer:She goes something out there.
Xhafer:There's something in here.
Xhafer:Me giving you a direct order.
Xhafer:Hall.
Xhafer:Such a good line.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:I love her.
Laura:Yeah, and they head off to look for the ship.
Laura:We also get, ambassador Dolan has invited Sheridan over for dinner.
Laura:and this whole scene is just, uh, a nice light.
Laura:Good laugh compared to the rest of the episode.
Xhafer:Yeah, it's the comedic reef.
Xhafer:We needed 45 minutes into this episode.
Xhafer:Not five.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yup.
Laura:So when you're worked for the, this dinner for two days,
Xhafer:No sleep.
Laura:Uh, he didn't sleep.
Xhafer:and water only.
Laura:You
Xhafer:assume that's a ruin his palette.
Laura:Right.
Laura:I can't make any mistakes where you have to start over.
Laura:And Sheridan's had a long day.
Laura:He'd love to dig into this.
Laura:Hasn't eaten lunch, you know, skipped lunch to work.
Laura:And, uh, no, we've got to meditate first.
Xhafer:You get one bite and then you get to meditate and then you can have
Xhafer:another bite and then you get to meditate.
Laura:Yeah, so much ritual and meditation and involved in
Laura:having a.
Laura:Having a friend over to dinner.
Xhafer:Poor linear.
Laura:Also did you see the little like shrimp forks?
Laura:They were eating everything with.
Xhafer:Zeda squad finds the freighter and nobody is left alive all 203.
Xhafer:Mark Hab are dead.
Xhafer:So they tow it back to investigate.
Xhafer:Like big dummies, they throw it in the docking bay.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Leave it in space.
Xhafer:Like obviously it ends up not mattering.
Xhafer:Because the infection was already on the station.
Xhafer:As we find out in about five minutes.
Xhafer:But.
Xhafer:Man, how stupid is this move?
Xhafer:Just like, oh, something killed everything inside.
Xhafer:So we're going to dock it with the station.
Laura:after living for three years.
Laura:In a global pandemic.
Laura:Did you just
Laura:find yourself going.
Laura:That's wrong.
Laura:That's wrong.
Laura:That's wrong.
Laura:That's wrong at this episode?
Laura:Like every two minutes.
Xhafer:There is a line towards the end of this episode from
Xhafer:doctorate Lazarus or Lazarin.
Xhafer:that is like, when confronted with a pandemic society will choose
Xhafer:the worst option every time.
Xhafer:And it's just all like, oh, Oh, oh, Oh,
Xhafer:Oh,
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:There was a severe lack of like, Personal protective equipment
Laura:throughout this whole episode.
Laura:Just like.
Laura:Lots of no masks would, we should probably be wearing masks
Xhafer:Uh, the lack of mass.
Xhafer:It's like, we think it's airborne, but we're not sure.
Xhafer:Put a fucking mask on, oh my God.
Xhafer:I'm about to go grab one and put it on.
Xhafer:Oh, this
Laura:watching.
Laura:Watching this as stressing me out.
Xhafer:Uh,
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Sheridan fell asleep at dinner.
Xhafer:Uh, luckily it was after the ceremony had finished.
Xhafer:So linear didn't have to start over again.
Xhafer:Uh, and he gets called down to space TSA where the mark Hab doctor is
Xhafer:preventing anyone from boarding since their group hasn't been called yet.
Xhafer:sit down, sir.
Xhafer:Your past says main cabin three, not diamond club.
Laura:No.
Xhafer:Franklin shows up and calls bullshit.
Xhafer:And it's just like, no, no, whatever happened there is what's
Xhafer:happening on the station already.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:is it?
Xhafer:How terminal is it?
Xhafer:And then we get a hundred percent terminal hundred percent contagious.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Anyone who touches it dies.
Xhafer:It's just like, oh,
Xhafer:Cool.
Xhafer:Um, we get some backstory.
Xhafer:Uh, they don't like to talk about it, because it's
Xhafer:considered divine retribution.
Xhafer:Slash up punishment for sinning.
Xhafer:Now.
Xhafer:Got to talk a little bit more about JMS his notes here.
Laura:Okay.
Xhafer:So aids is brought up once in a list of diseases by Dr.
Xhafer:Franklin.
Xhafer:This is 1994.
Xhafer:The aids epidemic is, has destroyed at this point, the
Xhafer:gay community in the United
Laura:Yeah, it seems like this episode is headed that direction, right?
Laura:Like this is an aids allegory.
Xhafer:A hundred percent.
Xhafer:It is not explicitly in aids, allegory.
Xhafer:Uh, JMS has a note here, which I'm just going to read word for word.
Xhafer:because I think it's worth.
Xhafer:His, his feelings about this directly.
Xhafer:our worth stating.
Laura:Sure go for it.
Xhafer:I will not defend the notion that the episode stated that all
Xhafer:Americans felt that aids was a penalty from God, because I never said that.
Xhafer:Ever in any manner, shape, or form.
Xhafer:The problem is that some people are so caught up in the current situation that
Xhafer:they lose all sense of perspective.
Xhafer:Fact is most people did think the black death was punishment from God or the
Xhafer:work of the devil is Franklin says the mark Habs had a similar belief.
Xhafer:Nowhere was that applied in dialogue to humans or to the aid situations.
Xhafer:The whole point of the episode is not political.
Xhafer:It says that if you make a disease political on either
Xhafer:side, you're going to die.
Xhafer:You have to set all that crap aside and just deal with the problem.
Xhafer:The only side this episode took was an advocating compassion for those afflicted.
Xhafer:That said.
Xhafer:Uh, it might've been a little fresh to make an aids episode.
Xhafer:At that point.
Xhafer:he, might've not felt, felt he could've gotten away with making
Xhafer:an aids episode at that point.
Xhafer:that the, uh, The station notes would've come back and been damning.
Xhafer:which actually that period of Babylon five is about to end.
Xhafer:The station sent back tons of notes for seasons one and two on every script.
Xhafer:Starting in season three.
Xhafer:They stopped sending any notes.
Xhafer:So about halfway through season three, JMS realizes he's off the hook and starts
Xhafer:doing episodes that he wants to do.
Xhafer:Much more so than episodes.
Xhafer:He felt he could get away And a lot of these use notes are very much of the time.
Xhafer:The episode airs, which is important for context.
Xhafer:There's no way this isn't an aids episode.
Laura:Right, right.
Xhafer:Like, it's very easy to say, oh, it was just about the black death, because
Xhafer:there's enough overlap in the story.
Xhafer:You're trying to tell.
Xhafer:And the situation there.
Xhafer:and he is a hundred percent correct.
Xhafer:You can't make diseases political because.
Xhafer:Diseases don't have political ideologies.
Xhafer:They just kill people.
Laura:Yeah, you were reading, so you probably didn't see my face when you got
Laura:to that part, but I was making a face.
Xhafer:Yeah, I.
Laura:You know, the face.
Xhafer:I know the faith.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:That's it's I mean, he's right.
Xhafer:and the episode also reaffirms that it's a lesson we never learned.
Xhafer:Which also is right.
Laura:Yeah, there's a lot to.
Laura:to.
Laura:chew on in this episode.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Uh, when you had messaged me and it was all like, we watched the
Xhafer:episode with Owen and I think that.
Xhafer:Might have been a mistake.
Xhafer:I was just like what's episode.
Xhafer:Is it shit?
Xhafer:You know, like, was it real spooky?
Xhafer:I thought it was like a scary one.
Xhafer:And then I watch it.
Xhafer:I'm just like, oh,
Laura:Oh, yeah, it's a scary
Xhafer:Well, yes, it is.
Xhafer:Especially as a child, I'm sure.
Xhafer:Seeing both of your parents die.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:The context for him too, is that, you know, he was in kindergarten.
Laura:When he got sent home for spring break, and then didn't go back
Laura:to school for over a year.
Laura:Like.
Laura:So, you know, I was like, oh Jesus, there's some, some trauma here.
Laura:We're going to have to process together.
Laura:I mean, we were going to spend.
Laura:His whole childhood processing this, right?
Laura:Like.
Laura:I probably didn't need to drag this episode into it, but here we are.
Laura:Oops.
Laura:Uh, parenting tips by
Laura:Laura.
Xhafer:we move on a little bit here.
Xhafer:Dr.
Xhafer:Franklin asked Dr.
Xhafer:Lazarin if it's contagious to other species.
Xhafer:And he realizes They don't know, he never checked no one ever checked.
Xhafer:If it was possible to spread to any other species.
Laura:Well, they were too busy denying it existed.
Laura:Like this is the sinners plague.
Laura:And we're all good people here.
Laura:So how would we know if it got to another species?
Xhafer:Yep.
Xhafer:Deland finds a child.
Xhafer:As they find their dead father.
Xhafer:Yikes.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Um,
Xhafer:We get a conference room where we learn of the diseases, incubation period.
Xhafer:Which can be up to 10 days before symptoms or detection.
Xhafer:Of what you are contagious.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Oh, that sounds familiar.
Xhafer:Uh, We find the disease makes it hard to breathe until you can't.
Xhafer:Oh,
Xhafer:And also sounds a little familiar.
Laura:Uh, you get, you starts with a sore
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:It's the first symptom.
Xhafer:Uh, they decide to throw the whole station in quarantine and send everyone
Xhafer:to the privacy of their quarters.
Xhafer:Oh, Uh, but some of the people don't listen and gathered
Xhafer:a large group in space TSA.
Xhafer:The mark habit ambassador tells Sheraton to get fucked that this is some foreigner
Xhafer:disease or your sins washing onto us.
Xhafer:And we're going to.
Laura:guy?
Xhafer:Yes, this guy is.
Xhafer:The drowsy ambassador also.
Laura:Yeah, he's he's purple or green.
Laura:One of the two.
Laura:Okay.
Xhafer:Um, We're going to get together and pray this disease away.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:All to all of us In our
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Get everyone together in one place so we can pray this
Laura:I can hear you stress,
Laura:uh,
Xhafer:I was stressed, clicking my band.
Xhafer:Sorry.
Laura:I don't blame you.
Xhafer:It's a habit from grade school that I've never dropped.
Xhafer:Um, Ivanova is worried about the thousand or so missing mark Hab,
Xhafer:who might be targets for violence.
Xhafer:Dylan requests to be allowed into the quarantine zone.
Xhafer:Uh, to help ease the suffering and show compassion.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Uh, Sheridan allows it and it's just like, uh,
Xhafer:just in case goodbye forever.
Xhafer:Uh, that was heavy.
Xhafer:That
Xhafer:was real heavy.
Laura:If I.
Laura:see you again, please call me by my first name.
Xhafer:Right.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Uh, and it's like, she almost turned and said, okay, John, and then
Xhafer:she's all like, I'll save it for later.
Xhafer:Garibaldi saves a mark Hab, uh, from getting beaten up by some
Xhafer:racists proven once again, that a broken clock is right twice a day.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:He even takes the guy's hand and carries him.
Laura:Off to med lab, presumably.
Xhafer:Well, I mean, you know, you could also say, I guess a Jerry
Xhafer:Doyle is the wrong kind of right.
Xhafer:Eh,
Xhafer:political jokes.
Xhafer:hanging fruit.
Xhafer:I'll take
Xhafer:it.
Laura:Farris back,
Xhafer:Yeah, that's the humor you were all missing.
Xhafer:Franklin stems and catches a
Xhafer:little bit of shit for it.
Laura:No.
Xhafer:Just a gentle reminder.
Xhafer:Hey, uh, you shouldn't.
Xhafer:You've had three that's a ton dude.
Xhafer:Knock it off.
Laura:Yeah, don't go so hard on the meth.
Xhafer:I got to cure your diseases.
Xhafer:got time to sleep.
Xhafer:and this is where he mentioned black death aids and Chalmers syndrome.
Xhafer:Which I Googled in.
Xhafer:Isn't a future disease.
Xhafer:That's not a thing that exists currently.
Laura:Yeah, I figured they are.
Laura:There's always, you know, a couple of historical examples and then
Laura:future disease in these lists, right?
Xhafer:Yeah, I did a little bit of Googling and I found a really,
Xhafer:really sad story about a kid with a chronic illness whose name was trauma.
Xhafer:And he had another syndrome that was giving him
Xhafer:five years to live.
Xhafer:And.
Xhafer:Don't Google it unless you want to cry is all I'm going to say
Xhafer:don't Google Tomer syndrome.
Laura:Noted.
Xhafer:he dives in on black death, uh, for the reinforcing
Xhafer:JMS has notes from earlier.
Xhafer:the discussion leads to the aforementioned, how society
Xhafer:treats to choose is the worst option for dealing with diseases.
Laura:Hm.
Xhafer:And then we find that Dr.
Xhafer:Lazarus was sick the whole time.
Xhafer:Dr.
Xhafer:Franklin gets his chance to examine someone in the early stages and
Xhafer:learn how the disease works.
Xhafer:At the cost
Xhafer:of his
Xhafer:friend dying.
Laura:Yeah, that does seem like an important.
Laura:Like thing that should have been happening, you know?
Laura:All along
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Well, I mean, he's inspected a number of the bodies.
Xhafer:So he knows he's he's got it at this point.
Xhafer:He has to be aware.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:in fact, I think that's why he reacts how he does when we get
Xhafer:the little bit earlier on about it.
Xhafer:Infecting other species.
Xhafer:Because he knows he's in the room with Dr.
Xhafer:Franklin, right.
Xhafer:Then like, did I just get one of my friends sick?
Xhafer:Am I a terrible person?
Xhafer:Should I have worn a fucking mask?
Xhafer:The answer is yes.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:even when they're Working on.
Laura:Uh, patients, there's not enough personal protective equipment at
Laura:all.
Laura:In this episode or the show in general, I think, but especially the episode.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:So in the isolation zone.
Laura:We cut over there and, Dylan and linear have been trying to counsel
Laura:and, and, you know, just minister.
Laura:To the, uh, all the people there.
Laura:and the little girl who Dylan ran into who saw her father
Laura:dead in the hallway, basically.
Laura:has also lost her mother now.
Xhafer:Oh,
Laura:Uh,
Xhafer:since you can't find.
Laura:Right.
Laura:Sorry.
Laura:She she is.
Laura:She cannot find her mother.
Laura:She has not lost her mother.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Uh, but.
Xhafer:that episode.
Laura:This episode.
Laura:Uh, Dylan S linear to help find.
Laura:Her mother.
Laura:She
Xhafer:manages.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:It's like, what's, what's her name?
Xhafer:Mommy.
Xhafer:It's like, oh shit.
Xhafer:Okay.
Laura:Yeah, he's just got to go through 4,000 mark abs to
Laura:find mommy it's it's no big
Xhafer:Yeah,
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:But this whole thing with the Lennon linear for me in this episode is so.
Laura:Foundational for their characters.
Laura:Like.
Laura:It's so important and every scene.
Laura:Is very tender and sweet.
Laura:And just.
Laura:I don't, especially when she's with the child.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:really, really very powerful.
Xhafer:Uh, we go back to MetaLab.
Xhafer:we're Franklin gets told he needs to go take the Kobayashi Maru.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:And we find out that the disease did spread to that pocket.
Xhafer:Murrah.
Laura:And Aaron brought up an excellent point here.
Laura:I mean, the episode does answer it for us that, you know,
Laura:the park Mariah green cells
Laura:and yellow cells or whatever, these things are similar in some way.
Laura:And that's how the disease made the jump, but Aaron's going aren't they?
Laura:The carry in eaters.
Xhafer:Yes.
Xhafer:Yes.
Xhafer:Did this pock Murrah probably eat a dead mark Hab.
Xhafer:That was my assumption.
Laura:it's a non-zero chance, right?
Xhafer:I would say, given that the issue we've had with them
Xhafer:a couple of times where they're like, well, we can't find the body.
Xhafer:It's like, well, now we've got to pump all the pocket bras, stomachs.
Laura:Yeah, cause we don't hear about other POC Murrah getting sick.
Laura:Really?
Laura:You would think that that would come up in the episode if it was.
Laura:That they got it from the airborne nature.
Xhafer:There's not a lot of them.
Xhafer:And they pro.
Xhafer:They tend to be solitary.
Xhafer:I think.
Xhafer:I think
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:about them.
Xhafer:So.
Xhafer:we get a little bit about, Franklin, uh, hitchhiking in his youth here as well.
Xhafer:is fun.
Xhafer:Uh, where
Xhafer:he first met this mark Hab doctor.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:they met 20 some years ago.
Laura:How is he old enough to have met?
Laura:Somebody 20 something years ago.
Xhafer:Well, this
Laura:wild.
Xhafer:like
Laura:guess he's in his forties maybe.
Xhafer:see.
Laura:looks so young to be.
Xhafer:He might be, he might be easily 30.
Xhafer:He's it might've been like 10 years ago.
Xhafer:Oh, yeah.
Xhafer:Especially after med school, it's probably closer to 10.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Because he was doing that during the earth.
Xhafer:The war.
Laura:Yes.
Xhafer:when he was hitchhiking around.
Xhafer:Cause that's when we see that later in, uh, The one of the made for TV movies.
Xhafer:Him hitchhiking around.
Xhafer:I don't think we see them go to mark Hab specifically, but that's
Xhafer:like what he's doing during the war.
Laura:And I don't remember if I've seen that movie, so we'll have to get
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Anyways, the disease did spread to the pocket Murrah.
Xhafer:But this will give them some insight on how the disease works.
Xhafer:So they can stop it now.
Xhafer:Like they're like, okay, well it's gotta be something that these two
Xhafer:species have in common that it's infecting because every human on
Xhafer:the station isn't dead right now.
Laura:Right.
Xhafer:We, uh, cut back over to Dylan in the quarantine zone.
Xhafer:Uh, Where she tells a story about finding her faith.
Xhafer:And her initial calling to the religious cast.
Xhafer:I was always of the impression that cast was hereditary.
Xhafer:For the main party.
Xhafer:But it might not be.
Laura:I, I don't think I was under that impression, I don't know why I wasn't.
Xhafer:I might just be assuming, because that is typical forecast
Xhafer:systems
Xhafer:in human history.
Xhafer:so that might be why.
Xhafer:I should've researched that.
Laura:Well, that's, I think there will be other episodes where it'll come up.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:I think you could do that research.
Xhafer:There are, there's going to be more about the men Bari.
Laura:Just a hunch.
Xhafer:Um, Dr.
Xhafer:Lazarin, uh, passes But Franklin cracks the disease.
Xhafer:He makes a big batch of vaccines.
Xhafer:Runs down to the quarantine zone to start administering them.
Laura:With Sheridan and Ivanova like, he's not even got a medical team with him.
Laura:They're just like and him are carrying.
Xhafer:It's time.
Xhafer:This has to happen.
Xhafer:Now they're sleeping for the first time in three days.
Xhafer:Like, we're going to go inoculate these people.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:And they opened the door.
Xhafer:It's all of the Marc Habur dead.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:Every last one.
Xhafer:And we just see DLN and linear.
Xhafer:Slowly come out of the back of the quarantine zone and towards the door.
Xhafer:And.
Xhafer:This was my moment of HD remaster detail that I had never seen
Xhafer:on a previous, watching.
Xhafer:Linear is crying.
Xhafer:He has tears down the side of his face.
Xhafer:He's clearly been openly weeping.
Xhafer:And when obviously when he comes to the station, you know, the crew and
Xhafer:he's all like, he's very put together.
Xhafer:He's his normal self.
Xhafer:But, I Devore noticed that before, whether it was because it was standard
Xhafer:Def or I wasn't paying enough attention.
Xhafer:Uh, but I always kind of thought linear was kind of a cold asshole at this moment.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:If you can't see the tears, I could see the reading of like,
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:Yeah, it was just all like, oh, they're all just dead.
Xhafer:You know, and it's just like, it's really cold, man.
Xhafer:Like I was expecting more from you based off all of your interactions with
Xhafer:other characters and how you've always been and seeing the tears just like,
Xhafer:oh, of course he was crying and he just put himself together Show respect.
Xhafer:So the CA captain.
Xhafer:Like.
Xhafer:Okay.
Xhafer:He was completely horrified.
Xhafer:And Dylan breaks down in tears in John's
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:And she's saying.
Laura:His name.
Laura:And instead of captain are shared, and she's just saying John,
Laura:John, John, and it's just so.
Laura:Emotional.
Laura:And I cried.
Laura:I cried with them.
Laura:Um, cause you know, it's, it's kinda, you have a real hint that it's coming,
Laura:especially when we see the little girl like stumble after they find her mother.
Laura:You like, you know that these people aren't going to make it out.
Xhafer:And it's not just them.
Xhafer:They have a cure.
Xhafer:But it's too late.
Xhafer:Every mark Hab is dead.
Xhafer:There might be some isolated colony somewhere that the
Xhafer:disease managed to not spread to.
Xhafer:But they wiped themselves out in a matter of weeks.
Xhafer:Just the species, the civilization.
Xhafer:Is gone.
Xhafer:the news reports on this racist bartender attempts, humor, it fails.
Laura:Oh, my God.
Laura:Yes, he's a bad man.
Xhafer:And the conspiracy theories start immediately.
Xhafer:I heard it was the VAR lawns.
Xhafer:Nothing changes.
Xhafer:Ha.
Xhafer:episode.
Xhafer:Before you even asked me fuck this episode.
Xhafer:I didn't.
Xhafer:Once again, did not write down a rating.
Xhafer:Because this goes on the list of episodes that are good at making me feel bad.
Laura:Yeah, I had this feeling earlier today when I was thinking about.
Laura:Our conversation today.
Laura:I was like, this is going to be one of those that Joe
Laura:fair says, fuck this episode.
Laura:Isn't it.
Xhafer:Yeah, a hundred percent.
Xhafer:I mean, the fact that I'm literally still got a little bit of a coffin
Xhafer:and recovering from COVID just, Fine.
Xhafer:You know, I just went and threw a round of disc golf of I've got any
Xhafer:trouble breathing or anything, but I've got a little bit of a cough still.
Xhafer:But.
Xhafer:You know, that is heavy knowing that the last two years, If I had
Xhafer:watched this as intently in 2019.
Xhafer:I might go, oh man, that's a really good warning tale.
Xhafer:I bet you, we could learn something from this episode.
Xhafer:And that would have been fucking wrong because we clearly can't
Xhafer:learn anything as a society.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:What's so.
Laura:Um, I'm going to hold off on rating for a moment.
Laura:Um, but
Laura:when we're watching this episode, It just from absorbing, from osmosis in
Laura:the news and the atmosphere in the last three years, when they start
Laura:describing the mechanics of the virus.
Laura:part of me was like, Hmm.
Laura:It just feels really improbable.
Laura:Like you have to do a little bit ahead.
Laura:Cannoning.
Laura:To accept the virus now.
Laura:In the nineties, I wouldn't have had to do that because I
Laura:didn't know shit about viruses.
Laura:And I've just absorbed just enough.
Laura:From the To know that like a hundred percent lethality.
Laura:that doesn't spread very well.
Xhafer:Typically.
Xhafer:Yeah, because
Xhafer:people die too quickly.
Xhafer:Which is actually something in JMS is notes.
Xhafer:because someone had said something like diseases like this don't exist.
Xhafer:He's like, actually I talked to someone at the CDC and they do.
Xhafer:the problem with diseases like this when they develop.
Xhafer:Is, they tend to develop.
Xhafer:Outside of.
Xhafer:modern medicine, right?
Laura:Uh, huh.
Xhafer:They out in the wild somewhere.
Xhafer:Um, and they would just will wipe out an entire village
Xhafer:before it has time to spread.
Laura:Right,
Xhafer:And we've seen this historically speaking time and time again.
Laura:So I asked a friend of mine who's at.
Laura:At other greatest Jen community member, who happens to be a virologist.
Laura:About this.
Laura:Cause I was like, And start passing a little stiff test, like.
Laura:I obviously don't have a degree in that sort of thing, but I
Laura:was like, eh, What do you think?
Laura:because this person actually watches Babylon five as well.
Laura:Yay.
Laura:He S he said, you know, I feel like it's plausible.
Laura:But the a hundred percent lethality within 24 hours.
Laura:Is really unlikely unless there's another carrier species, like, you know, um,
Xhafer:Rats.
Laura:Ms.
Laura:Mosquitoes carry the west.
Laura:Nile rats can carry the black You know, I, I, had Canon around that a little bit.
Laura:Like maybe this is a shadow disease.
Laura:Like.
Laura:I mean, I think that JMS certainly wants to like lead us there with that
Laura:ideas, this, uh, a weapon from somebody.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:But that would make it.
Laura:Pretty difficult to transmit.
Laura:everybody freaking out about it being airborne.
Laura:Well, Babylon five air should be filtered with something.
Laura:It should be going through UV or ozone or,
Laura:or bleach or something.
Laura:When it's recycled.
Laura:So yeah.
Laura:You know, um, But.
Laura:he did say that.
Laura:This particular episode, you know, play episode.
Laura:Is more plausible than anything similar they've ever done on star Trek.
Laura:It passes his hurdles as an actual professional in the
Laura:study of viruses, better than any star Trek.
Xhafer:Cool.
Laura:Similar episode.
Xhafer:I guess a lot of the star Trek ones, they always hop species.
Xhafer:Which would be very unlikely.
Laura:Right, right.
Laura:It's not easy for a disease to hop species necessarily.
Laura:So.
Laura:the thing that I really think that this episode absolutely nails is everything.
Laura:Social.
Laura:The, the reactions of people around the, uh, you know, we, we want to believe.
Laura:Or we did want to believe that there wouldn't be such extremist religious.
Laura:Like, no, it couldn't possibly be, but.
Laura:I think we've all seen.
Laura:That there will always be those types out there
Laura:that.
Laura:believe that righteousness will somehow save them from disease.
Xhafer:I mean, it's happening again, literally right now with monkeypox.
Laura:Right.
Xhafer:Monkeypox is mostly impacting the gay community in America.
Xhafer:Specifically gay men.
Xhafer:sound familiar.
Xhafer:and even though we have, literally, we have a vaccine, we started with a vaccine.
Xhafer:We've had a vaccine for years for monkeypox and we have
Xhafer:thousands of it in storage.
Xhafer:We just aren't prioritizing its distribution.
Xhafer:or it's availability, to the point of.
Xhafer:Negligence like it is on purpose.
Xhafer:Uh, and I don't even mean that in a conspiracy theory way, we're
Xhafer:just not taking it seriously.
Xhafer:To the point where, uh, people should be held responsible.
Laura:And it's, it's a time and time again, thing.
Laura:And that's.
Laura:You know, the most heartbreaking part of this episode.
Laura:Is that the social responses are so accurate.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Laura:me.
Laura:Like,
Laura:you know, the.
Xhafer:Gonna just be fuck this episode.
Laura:Not against that.
Laura:You.
Laura:You know what.
Laura:Hm.
Laura:Yeah, I'll pitch it.
Laura:I'll pitch it to the editor.
Xhafer:See how he feels.
Xhafer:Make sure it passes the sniff test.
Xhafer:It gets passed to the network without notes.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:I mean, if I have to throw a rating on this, cause you know me, I
Laura:do try to throw a rating on it.
Laura:I give this one a four, just because of how effective it is.
Xhafer:Yeah.
Xhafer:It's it's, like I said, it's very good at making me feel bad.
Xhafer:That is its job and it did its job very well.
Xhafer:But fuck this episode.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:I think that's.
Laura:Very accurate and very.
Laura:Uh, warranted.
Laura:So, I feel you feel okay.
Xhafer:Yeah, I feel fine.
Xhafer:Um, I'm okay.
Xhafer:Like both from the episode and recovering.
Xhafer:I'm fine.
Xhafer:Uh,
Laura:Yeah, Glad to have you back.
Xhafer:Who's not fine.
Xhafer:Are the Nard.
Xhafer:As we find out in our next episode, season two, episode
Xhafer:19, the long Twilight struggle.
Xhafer:Uh, final bloody battle determines the outcome of the Naarden Centauri conflict.
Xhafer:And signals and even greater threat to all civilization.
Laura:Woof.
Xhafer:I'm pretty sure the cover of my season two episode
Xhafer:Is from this next episode.
Laura:Oh,
Xhafer:I think it's that one.
Xhafer:I'm not going to say what's on there.
Xhafer:on the off chance I'm wrong and it's spoilers.
Xhafer:Cause it is spoilers.
Laura:Yeah.
Laura:Yeah.
Xhafer:But.
Laura:It sure.
Laura:Looks
Laura:like.
Laura:I mean, we're running out of episodes that that shot could be from anyway.
Laura:So.
Xhafer:Yeah, we're coming up on the end of season two here pretty quick.
Xhafer:All right.
Xhafer:Well, This episode was a bummer.
Xhafer:But, Jeremy Siegel's great.
Laura:Jeremy Siegel is
Xhafer:He wrote our lovely theme music.
Xhafer:I don't know why I assumed I was going to meet him at star Trek, Las I had no idea.
Xhafer:I had nothing to base it on whatsoever.
Xhafer:Just like, oh, Jeremy SQL will be there.
Xhafer:Uh,
Laura:I wish he was.
Laura:Next time,
Xhafer:right.
