In 1971, a novel by William Peter Blatty made its debut and it was called "The Exorcist". Two years later, a movie by the same name was released in theaters. Lines formed outside theaters that were blocks long, and people fainted and got sick during the movie itself. Staff at theaters even kept smelling salts on hand.
The book and the movie are about a young girl. However, the book is based on a true story of an Exorcism of a young boy that took place between January 1949 and April 1949.
This is that story as told mainly by the documentation of the Priests who were present during the whole ordeal.
