Josh shares some of the biggest mistakes he made in his first year of Podcasting. And there were A LOT of mistakes made!

Josh's first show 'DIY Music Movement' was quite the learning experience, and although the lessons hurt at the time, in the end Josh became a better and more generous content creator because of it.

The Problem: How do I get good at podcasting, quickly?

The Solution: Other than specific technical executions in Podcasting (editing voice and dialogue, recording VOIP, .mp3 file encoding, etc.) the only way to get better, is to make all the mistakes yourself. But you don’t have to make the exact same mistakes that Josh did.

Mistakes Made in Year One.

  1. Focussing way too much on what was in it for Josh.
  2. Not confirming that DIY Music Movement (the podcast name) was available everywhere -including Australia's Business Registry.
  3. Starting multiple shows.
  4. Not appreciating face-to-face and/or local feedback for the podcast.
  5. Buying expensive podcasting equipment that wasn't right for the job.
  6. Not finding a Podcast-Buddy.
  7. Spending too much time learning about Facebook, Email, Twitter and Wordpress, and not enough time learning how-to produce better podcasts.
