“Once you're in, you're in. And then it feels like they're yours.”
Come sit down with us as we chat about the podcasts we’re loving right now, new found faves along with pods we’ve loved for years. What are we listening to whilst we’re doing the weekly shop, the washing up, or crocheting on the sofa?
On this week’s episode we’re going it alone with no more of a plan beyond having a natter about the podcasts we LOVE (and crafting. Lots and lots of crafting) - and what keeps us coming back to them.
We might have pretty different tastes in the shows we subscribe to, but the things that draw us in are remarkably similar - chemistry and relationships between hosts and guests are essential features for us. While Katie is all about a great story, Buckers loves listening to an engaging interview, no matter who the guest is.
In this episode you'll hear:
- The podcasts we can’t get enough of, and why.
- An extensive insight into the creative pursuits of two women in their mid-thirties.
- Pairing different audio genres with various daily life activities
- Why Katie's gateway drug into podcasting was true crime.
- Katie's longstanding relationship with My Favorite Murder and why the chemistry between the hosts matters just as much as the stories they're telling
- Why Buckers increasingly finds herself listening to podcasts for the interviewer, as much as the person being interviewed
- Why the things that make us love a podcast are rarely the things you think YOU need to care about.
- The difference between a podcast having thought behind it and a podcast being rigidly structured
- Why even a business podcast is still allowed to be entertaining.
- New faves:The News Agents, courtesy of Leila's a-pod-calypse recommendations
- An altercation with a candle.
Turns out the podcasts we love have an element of messiness and realness that creates the sense of intimacy which makes this medium so delicious.
So, yes, when you tune into an episode of Just Make The Bloody Podcast, you’re going to hear unscripted conversations, at least one long pause while one of us searches for a word that’s exited our brains entirely, tangents that seem to come out of thin air, and wheeze laughing that would make Muttley proud as we momentarily detour off course for a quick squizz down memory lane…
But we’re inviting you in to share all of that with us because isn’t that the point? Shouldn’t our podcasts act as a portal for us and our listeners to enter eachother’s worlds? Have a collective ‘Come Dine With Me’ style rummage around in eachothers cupboards? An hour ot so to be connected with people we’ve never met, yet somehow… we sort of.. have..?
IT’S GETTING TOO DEEP… BRING ON THE BANJOS!
Enjoy!

Thanks for listening, now… let’s just make the bloody podcast, shall we?
