Shownotes

Adjoa Andoh is a British film, television, stage and radio actress who has recently joined forces with Lynette Linton (Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre) to direct the first ever women of colour lead Shakespeare Play on a UK stage.

Their production of Richard II post-Empire reflects on what it means to be British in the light of the Windrush anniversary and as we leave the European Union.

Richard II marks the beginning of a cycle of history plays that will provide a unique opportunity to rediscover how Shakespeare perceived ‘this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England’. Our year-long exploration of ‘our scepter’d isle’ will take us on a journey through history via Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2, Henry V, Henry VI, and Richard III.

Richard II plays at the Shakespeare's Globe until April 21st https://www.shakespearesglobe.com/whats-on-2018/richard-ii
