John 10:8 is one of those verses that can land wrong if you skim it. Jesus uses strong language about “thieves and robbers,” and the point is not to make you cynical. The point is to make you clear.

It’s the voices we let become familiar. Hurry. Accusation. Control. Performance. Even spiritual content that sounds right, but quietly produces fear, shame, or confusion.

Jesus is teaching that His sheep learn something over time. They learn what His voice sounds like. And because of that, they stop giving access to voices that steal peace.
