Being the smartest person in the room means living in the mind with kindness, creativity, and joy. What does it mean to be the smartest person in the room? It’s not what you think. It’s not about education or intelligence. It’s about following the 10 Eplerian Life principles.

The first principle is be your true authentic self, always! Live in the mind. Think from your heart with kindness and the mind with vibrant energy, maximal creativity, and enduring joy.

Other principles include engage in life with vitality and enthusiasm moment by moment. Shred the 'phone zombie' habit, draining vitality and stealing joy from people around you, and reclaim your vibrant life energy. Give outside yourself by volunteering, expecting nothing in return. Consider other people’s needs and share your energy and resources.

The last principal is optimal health with one hour of daily exercise for energy and strength, eight hours of sleep every night for maximal functioning prefrontal cortex, and a healthy nutrition lifestyle for a vibrant body.

Take the first step towards becoming the smartest person in the room by applying these principles in your life. Use your heart to share your kindness with people and access the mind to solve problems and help people, to have the courage to be your true authentic self, and inspiration to improve the world.

Good Thoughts Podcast / Be the Smartest Person in the Room

Dr. Gary Epler – Being the smartest person in the room means living in the mind with kindness, creativity, and joy.

Joan - What does it mean to “be the smartest person in the room”?

It’s not what you think. It’s not about education or intelligence. It’s about following the 10 Eplerian Life principles.

Let’s get started. What’s the first principle?

(1) Be your true authentic self, always! Live in the mind. Think from your heart with kindness and the mind with vibrant energy, maximal creativity, and enduring joy.

Joan – Love it! What’s next?

(2) Like yourself. Accept and love who you are. Think from your heart with kindness to yourself. Don’t try to impress others by acting to be someone you’re not or hiding behind a job title mask. Everyone knows a fake facade. Authenticity is captivating and people want to be with you. This gives you maximal confidence to be the smartest person in the room.

So true, authenticity is the best! What’s another principle?

(3) Quiet the ego-centered primitive brain because self-centered negative thinking causes stress. Living in the mind at slower brainwaves spontaneously eliminates primitive brain thinking.

That’s makes sense, anything to eliminate stress. Do you have another principle to share?

(4) Engage in life with vitality and enthusiasm moment by moment. Shred the 'phone zombie' habit, draining vitality and stealing joy from people around you, and reclaim your vibrant life energy.

It’s the ‘phone zombie' global epidemic, people are oblivious to the world. Another principle?

(5) Love responsibility! Own your actions, decisions, and consequences. Taking responsibility feels good and builds confidence and trust.

(6) Make instant decisions with swift, decisive action without hesitation to avoid catastrophic delays.

Do you have other principles?

(7) Give outside yourself by volunteering, expecting nothing in return. Consider other people’s needs and share your energy and resources.

(8) Learn something new every day, which will keep you adaptable, curious, and the smartest person in the room.

What’s another principle?

(9) Use positive social communication at home, work, and in public. Both individuals feel better after an interaction because the conversation is from the heart with kindness and from the creative mind to help each other – no one-ups, no put-downs, and no destructive comments.

What’s the last principle for being the smartest person in the room?

(10) Optimal health is essential with one hour of daily exercise for energy and strength, eight hours of sleep every night for maximal functioning prefrontal cortex, and a healthy nutrition lifestyle for a vibrant body.

You mentioned “live in the mind” for being the smartest person in the room. How do you do that?

Slow the brainwaves for living in the mind. Learn to do this by reproducing the feeling during daydreaming or meditation.

Joan – These are life-changing principles. Be your true authentic self for being the smartest person in the room. Do you have any closing comments?

Dr. Gary Epler – Take the first step towards becoming the smartest person in the room by applying these principles in your life. Use your heart to share your kindness with people and access the mind to solve problems and help people, to have the courage to be your true authentic self, and inspiration to improve the world.
