Speaker A:We have a great around the house show coming up this weekend.
Speaker A:Help us out and subscribe on your favorite podcast player.
Speaker A:In the first hour of the around the house show, Eric G. Is down
Speaker B:at Design and Construction week in Orlando, Florida.
Speaker B:So we start out with one of his favorite episodes.
Speaker B:Eric sits down with RK Bob Brown, the Dirt Whisperer and talks about how to save some serious money.
Speaker B:If you think you have foundation issues with your home.
Speaker C:I have a friend who owns a business up there in Reno and it's all rock, so that's mostly what they do.
Speaker C:But other than that, push piers, helical piers are going to work great.
Speaker C:The question is, is that fixed the problem if you've got a heat problem?
Speaker C:Well, now what?
Speaker C:Well, I developed, I patented a system that dries out the clays underneath the foundation called the moisture level system.
Speaker C:And it runs air through the gravel layer that's right under the concrete and then it dries out those clays over time.
Speaker C:And the idea is to keep them from, to stop them from swelling.
Speaker C:Right.
Speaker C:And it does work.
Speaker C:It removed about 26 gallons of water every day on the average.
Speaker C:Pretty good little system.
Speaker C:Another innovation that I'm working on is, is interior floor slab.
Speaker A:If you in the second hour, Eric
Speaker B:G. Is getting you ready for summer storm and wildfire season, talking with his friends from the fortified building program.
Speaker D:And again, it's like garage doors.
Speaker D:People go, oh, that's beautiful.
Speaker D:Oh, it's got a 30 year warranty.
Speaker D:Let's go with that.
Speaker D:I like the look of that.
Speaker D:It'll be a nice upgrade to the house.
Speaker D:But the wind resistance and hail damage resistance and all that other stuff sometimes doesn't come into that conversation.
Speaker E:Yeah, for sure.
Speaker E:And we have studied how buildings interact, particularly with high winds and rain for a long time.
Speaker E:Over three decades now, IBHS has been studying the, the performance of different types of building systems and how they perform in high winds and severe rain.
Speaker E:We have a one of a kind research facility located in South Carolina where we have full size wind tunnel.
Speaker E:We can put full size houses in there, 105 fans, we can create category three winds, we can create realistic hail storms, we can create 8 inches of rain an hour.
Speaker E:So we really are able to look at these systems and comprehensively understand them.
Speaker E:And when we look at that and we say, where does the damage start and how does it escalate?
Speaker A:All that and more on Saturday's around the House show with Eric G. If you work in the trades or construction or design business, check out the around the House Pro Insider podcast that is back.
Speaker A:Just find it on your favorite podcast player.
