In this episode, I am sharing the happiness hack is all about giving your brain a workout with neurobics.
Neuroplasticity is one of my favourite concepts. It is the brain's ability to re-organise itself by forming new neural connections throughout life.
Every time you learn something new, practise a skill or engage your brain in doing something out of the ordinary, your brain forms new pathways.
Neurobics are brain exercises designed to stimulate and challenge the brain, creating new neural connections to keep the brain healthy and happy.
One neurobic which gives our brain a positive workout but also help us to think creative is:
the Alternative Uses Test. Simply take any object (e.g. plate, candle, paperclip) and give yourself a set amount of time to write down as many alternative ways of using the object as possible. You are aiming for a number of ideas that are unusual and from different areas of daily life. For example, a paperclip can be a bookmark, to fix a zip, or be bended to make an iphone stand.
This simple test can help to strengthen your ability to generate multiple solutions to a single problem, supporting your creativity and innovation and most importantly stimulating and challenging your brain.
Thank you for listening to the Happiness Reset Campaign, I hope this happiness hack is useful and impactful. For more ideas of neurobics, listen to episode 79: what is neuroplasticity and how to engage in neurobics to be happier?
