The FTSE 100 finished Friday at 10,659.13, up from 10,650.44 the previous Friday, a rise of 8.69 points, or 0.08%. The index moved between 10,586.39 and 10,823.0, leaving a narrow weekly gain after a busy but indecisive stretch 📉📈
The softer pound was the clearest support, with cable falling 0.97% on the week. That sterling move helped offset pressure from higher global bond yields, while the FTSE still ended below its 50-day average at 10,749.66.
The week ahead starts on Monday, 21 September, with a release on measuring artificial intelligence in the UK economy. Tuesday, 22 September, brings UK public sector finances for August and a large FTSE 100 company scheduled to report, while Wednesday, 23 September, adds regional economic activity by GDP and another large FTSE 100 company report; Thursday, 24 September, brings the UK’s real-time economic indicators and business insights releases.
