A New Tanya class By Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz
Tanya Igeret Hatshuva
Chapter 5
When we Sin we are going against the (רצון העליון) the will of Hashem & that will cut off the Source of our energy the top of the Yud.
In Chapter 4 the Alter Rebbe explained that the Neshama comes from the infinite name of Hashem & as such we have the powerful 10 Kochot. However in order for us to exist in this material world we were created thru Dibur the external links part of Hashem.
In Chapter 5 the Alter Rebbe teaches us that even the external Dibur נעשה אדם that we are created from we come from the internal part of that Dibur. As the 2 verses state 1) ויפח באפיו נשמת חיים ויהי האדם לנפש חיה and the 2) כי חלק ה׳ עמו יעקב חבל נחלתו so the Neshama that comes thru Dibur is from ויפח which is internal & חבל so they are connected as one.
Essence of Neshama comes from essence of Hashem. External of Neshama comes from essence of the external of Hashem.
When one sins you block the flow from Hashem to you like when one blows (ויפח) & there is something in the way it won’t penetrate the obstacle. You basically blocked the pathway of Hashem energy.
Here is the big question Hashem is every where how can we block Hashem?
The Alter Rebbe brings 5 sources to prove that Hashem is on every level.
First הלא את השמים וארץ אני מלא that refers to the level of Ratzon the top of the yud of Hashem name.
Second מלא כל הארץ כבודו that refers to the level of chochma the Yud of Hashem Name.
Third לית אתר פנוי מיני that refers to Binah the Heh of Hashem name
Fourth בשמים ממעל ועל הארץ מתחת אין עוד that refers to the Midot the Vov of Hashem Name.
Fifth איהו ממלא כל עלמין that refers to Malchus the second Heh of Hashem name.
When we Sin we are going against the (רצון העליון) the will of Hashem & that will cut off the Source of our energy the top of the Yud.
As King David tells us in psalms chapter 135 verse 6 כל אשר עשה חפץ ה׳ עשה בשמים ובארץ that everything Hashem created is from חפץ that is Ratzon & when we go against the Ratzon Hashem we are blocking the divine energy.
Hence the definition of כרת your cutting off the flow from Hashem & the person dies.
As the verse says ונכרתה הנפש ההיא מלפני אני ה׳ we get cut off מלפני the essence of Hashem.
When we transgress in smaller sins it creates small disconnections as there are 613 connections.
Why does one live till 50 or 60 once you sin? As there is still a residual of Hashems energy that allows him to live with the help also of a מקיף energy that allows the residual to keep the sinner alive till age 50 or 60.
The Alter Rebbe brings from the Zohar that in the times of the temple our energy was from Kedusha as such when one was disconnected they would die. Today we receive energy from non holy sources as well so even though our Neshama can be disconnected we can be physically alive (& revive G-Dly energy in a מקיף way) in other words the more refined & holy you need a constant connection the more physical & mundane you can survive longer. Example fresh food versus processed chemicals.
