We Are Crucified WITH Christ!
By Tammy Lacock
“That ye put off concerning the conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.” (Eph. 4:22, KJV)
Warren Litzman continues his journey through Paul’s epistle to the Ephesians with chapter 4 verse 22.
He explains that, as believers, we must “put off” our old ways and that, in fact, our old lives are “crucified WITH Christ.” He makes the distinction that we are not crucified BY Christ, we are crucified WITH Christ. When Christ drank of the cup in the Garden of Gethsemane, our sins and transgressions of our old lives were literally poured into His body. When He died, those died too. We now live with Christ as our new life, and until we accept in our minds that our old lives died too, our Christian life will be lacking. This is a very tough truth for most believers to grasp. Most of us who are saved step back into the world with our same old habits and old ways of thinking, liked we’ve never been saved. Christ IN us helps us to let go along with the Holy Spirit constantly renewing our minds to our new life IN Christ.
Once we accept that our old lives have been crucified WITH Christ, it is then that we can truly live our new life IN Christ and begin our love affair with Him.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20, KJV)
“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans 6:6, KJV)
