This pirate thinks there are two kinds of people in this world. I've done extensive research on this.

I say this because over the course of 30 years it or so, this pirate has pretty much spoken to as many different types of people you can think of. This pirate is struggling not to adapt the Armour Hot Dogs jingle for this purpose, but now that you know this you can go ahead and do it on your own time.

So, the two different kinds of people in the world. The first kind is way more common, so you're more likely to meet these. These are the kinds of people that have a problem. They know they have a problem, so they tell you about the problem, and they tell their friends about the problem they tell their family about the problem they tell random passers-by on the street about the problem, and they might even call someone about the problem. Then they mention, during the conversation at any point they can shoehorn it in that they have a problem, and how much the problem is a problem. They might talk about this problem in the most colorful of vocabulary, replete with as much acrimony as they can muster. They might even try to make the fact that they have a problem the subject of the entire conversation, allowing no one else to get a word in edgewise. Then, after expending all the oxygen in the surrounding area to expound at length about their problem, and sensing that no one there is actually going to assist them with their problem, they will go off in search of other receptive ears who will be willing to hear about the problem they have.

Then there is the second group. A small group. A quieter group. A group so small and quiet you rarely hear about them. They discover they have a problem...and they solve it. IN the cases where they cannot solve it on their own, they enlist the help of someone that can..and they solve the problem. And then--and this is the great part--they get on with the next job, the next thing they have to do, and their life.

What a novel concept.

This pirate used to be a complainer until he realized one day that the amount of energy it takes to complain is never a replacement for just doing the work. Most times, it takes more energy to stay mad. This pirate also knows what real problems are, and real problems don't go away just by shouting about them. They go away by doing something about them. Sometimes they don't go away, they're just managed, and when that's the case there's even less reason to complain. It resolves nothing, and in this pirate's opinion, it tends to show one's overinflated sense of entitlement. You're not special, who are you fooling?

You either want the solution or you want the problem, and out here the problem will sink your ass quicker than you can word your next complaint.

Now, what's it gonna be?
