I woke up with a throbbing pain in my eye. My GP fought me off with a tube of conjunctive ice cream, but it didn't seem to be helping. In fact, my, I felt like it was going to explode out of my head. A few days later, after an emergency visit to the eye hospital, I was diagnosed with a serious condition called uveitis left untreated.

It can lead to blindness. Now I'm not blaming my GP. He's not an ice specialist, but sitting at home, putting ointment on my eye when I knew it wasn't working well, it wasn't going to improve the situation. I needed help from a specialist, someone who knew all about eyes and could spot the problem straight away before things got really bad.

So why am I sharing this story of my exploding? I, well, I think it's a really good example of something that fascinates me about human behavior. We're brilliant at supporting things that aren't working in some parts of our life, for example, health, fitness relationships, and seeking expert help when we need it. But when it comes to business, we often keep doing the same things over and over again,

even though we know they're not working take content. For example, I speak to business owners every single day who tell me their content. Isn't generating sales for their business. Yet when I speak to them a few months down the line, sometimes even years, they're still not getting enough engagement or sales from that content. So they're not making enough money in their business or feeling like they're getting a return on their time investment,

but they still haven't sought out an expert opinion or invested any time or money in trying to solve the problem. And they're still publishing that same old content that isn't getting them the results they need.
