Released July 10, 1992, Universal Soldier blends sci-fi, action, and Cold War leftovers into a high-concept popcorn spectacle.

The film follows Luc Deveraux (Van Damme) and Andrew Scott (Lundgren), two American soldiers killed during the Vietnam War in 1969. Decades later, they’re revived in a secret U.S. military program called the “UniSol” program — reanimated and enhanced into near-unstoppable super soldiers.

But there’s a problem.

Deveraux slowly begins regaining memories of his past life… and Scott? He regains his psychotic tendencies — and goes full villain mode.

What follows is a cross-country chase, a journalist uncovering a military conspiracy, and one of the most underrated 90s action finales inside a barn stocked with farming equipment.
