Speaker:I'll do better next year.

Speaker:I'm your host, Aimee Cerka.
Speaker:Welcome.
Speaker:I'm so glad you're here.
Speaker:welcome back to Money Simplified.
Speaker:Today we are talking about taxes, and this time of year there
Speaker:is pressure, there is guilt.
Speaker:There's all those things like we gotta get it done.
Speaker:We're feeling the deadline.
Speaker:So before we dive into this though, bookkeeping simplified
Speaker:is now open for pre-sale.
Speaker:So if you're feeling that pressure, if you're like, I want to do things better,
Speaker:not just get it done, and I would.
Speaker:Say bookkeeping simplified is really for you whether you are DIYing it or
Speaker:you're planning to outsource, because I believe even if you're outsourcing,
Speaker:you should have an understanding CEO level understanding of what's going on
Speaker:so that you can make informed decisions.
Speaker:Again, we're taking that fear and all of those unknown things out of it.
Speaker:What Bookkeeping simplified is gonna do is it's going to give
Speaker:you the why's behind all of it.
Speaker:We're breaking it all down, very simple, like that's what I do.
Speaker:I make money.
Speaker:Simple, right?
Speaker:Breaking it down.
Speaker:No legal ease, no accounting, ease language.
Speaker:Not only I'll teach you some of it, but we're gonna explain the principles
Speaker:behind why we do the things that we do, and then get into the tactical howtos
Speaker:specifically within QuickBooks Online.
Speaker:Like, Hey, this is how you do this, and this is how you do this.
Speaker:This is why you want this.
Speaker:This is what you need to do every month.
Speaker:This is what we need to do every year, so you know exactly why we're
Speaker:doing the things that we're doing, and then how to do them that way if
Speaker:something comes up that's not covered.
Speaker:You're gonna know how to handle it because we all know those little
Speaker:oddball things are gonna come up, right?
Speaker:So bookkeeping simplified is open for pre-sale.
Speaker:Um, I also have a special thing going on right now.
Speaker:There is a telegram thread, so if you join for pre-sale and you have questions that
Speaker:you need answered now before we go live.
Speaker:You can ask them and I will answer them.
Speaker:So that's gonna be Aimee Cerka.com/bookkeeping simplified.
Speaker:That link will be in the show notes as well.
Speaker:So let's get into it because the new year pressure is real, right?
Speaker:Like it starts to build on January, February.
Speaker:It gets loud like 10 99 deadlines already happened.
Speaker:Tax season is coming.
Speaker:Depending on if you are have an S-Corp election, or if you are a traditional.
Speaker:Business LLC doesn't have the S corp election.
Speaker:Like your deadlines are gonna be different, but it's like, we gotta get
Speaker:it done, we gotta get it done, we gotta get it done, we gotta do it right now.
Speaker:And everybody panics and everybody freaks out.
Speaker:And then some people, I even had a client was telling me like her CPA
Speaker:was like, she was good with this part, but her CPA was hounding her about
Speaker:like, Hey, we need this, we need this.
Speaker:And the time we had the conversation, like the IRS isn't even open yet.
Speaker:Everybody just take a breath.
Speaker:Like it's gonna be okay.
Speaker:When we sit and we panic and we rush through things, you are not
Speaker:fixing the problem for next year.
Speaker:We're just putting it off.
Speaker:Okay?
Speaker:And even if you've got like a decent system in place, like you feel like
Speaker:you've got most of the way there, but you're feeling that pressure and that
Speaker:like, oh my gosh, we gotta get it done.
Speaker:We gotta get it done, or.
Speaker:I am just not gonna do it.
Speaker:I'm gonna avoid it.
Speaker:I'm not gonna look at these things.
Speaker:I don't care if I miss some of the deductions.
Speaker:I just wanted to get it over with.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:That line of thinking, we make sloppy decisions,
Speaker:so if you're feeling all that pressure, I file an extension.
Speaker:Not that big of a deal.
Speaker:Have your CPA.
Speaker:Just follow the extension.
Speaker:Give yourself the space to do this correctly.
Speaker:Make this the year that you change things, that we do it right and we set
Speaker:ourselves up for success for next year.
Speaker:The craziness of, oh my gosh, we gotta do it.
Speaker:We gotta do it, we gotta do it.
Speaker:Don't worry about it.
Speaker:Felony extension, that gives you six months.
Speaker:You can do a heck of a lot in six months.
Speaker:We're not gonna just put it back on the back burner and ignore it.
Speaker:So then you're just pushing the, kicking the can down the road six months, and then
Speaker:you're gonna freak out all over again.
Speaker:Follow the extension,
Speaker:like I encourage a lot of people, like you can still follow on time,
Speaker:even if you follow the extension.
Speaker:So follow the extension and give yourself the space, and then you're good.
Speaker:This is giving you clarity.
Speaker:We're not going to continue avoiding it.
Speaker:You're not a failure because you file an extension, like there's no
Speaker:penalty for filing an extension.
Speaker:Like just file it because the extension is gonna give you the time to do it, right.
Speaker:We're not using it as permission to ignore it because when we just rush
Speaker:through this, we've got messy books.
Speaker:You've got missed deductions and let's go back Messy books, you could
Speaker:accidentally be over deducting.
Speaker:Now, I will tell you time and time again, the IRS is not something to be afraid of.
Speaker:As long as you were following the rules.
Speaker:There's no reason to be afraid of the IRS.
Speaker:There's no reason to be concerned about an audit.
Speaker:We have a whole lesson inside bookkeeping simplified.
Speaker:That's gonna be like finding a CPA because who you have in your corner matters.
Speaker:But if you've got messy books, I had a bookkeeping client one time.
Speaker:We had double expenses entered, so she followed her books like that.
Speaker:She was doubling her expenses.
Speaker:That wasn't accurate.
Speaker:That's not following the law, right?
Speaker:Like that's not following the rules.
Speaker:It's not even a law.
Speaker:'cause it's not IRS isn't legal, but that's another conversation.
Speaker:That wasn't correct, and if she rushes through it, she would've filed like that.
Speaker:And if she was audited, that would've caused a problem.
Speaker:But then we had the opposite side.
Speaker:You're missing deductions
Speaker:because you're rushing through it.
Speaker:We're gonna have like the bonus for bookkeeping simplified is gonna be
Speaker:the unstoppable taxes, and there's a whole tax strategy in there.
Speaker:Rushing through is just going to compile the cleanup fees that either
Speaker:you're going to have to pay yourself, so the fee would be your time and
Speaker:having to figure this out yourself.
Speaker:This is the hardest part for most people.
Speaker:The ongoing part of doing your bookkeeping isn't as big of a deal when you know how
Speaker:to do it right, but the cleanup process to go back and make it all accurate,
Speaker:either you're going to pay for it.
Speaker:And you're gonna pay more.
Speaker:The longer we kick it down the road, the more time that we're
Speaker:going to have to clean up.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:And then if you've already found the taxes and then we're doing the cleanup,
Speaker:we have to make the cleanup match, which filed, and there's extra things, right?
Speaker:But we're just repeating the same cycle.
Speaker:This keeps happening.
Speaker:It's not about like, oh, it's the deadline, it's the timing.
Speaker:It's the system that we have in place.
Speaker:It's the habits we have in place.
Speaker:It's the way that we're operating and the way that we're prioritizing things.
Speaker:That has to shift, and it's not about solving everything today.
Speaker:That's why like follow the extension, please, just.
Speaker:File the extension, stop stressing.
Speaker:That has to be done right this minute.
Speaker:We will start to solve it.
Speaker:We're going to make this a priority because if you file the extension
Speaker:and just put it back on the back burner, that's still not fixing it.
Speaker:But give yourself the space.
Speaker:Make today, the day you're drawing the line in the sand,
Speaker:I am going to figure this out.
Speaker:I'm gonna make it right, and I'm gonna give myself the space to
Speaker:do it instead of putting myself under the pressure of the deadline.
Speaker:So you can move forward without the panic mode.
Speaker:'cause panic mode means mistakes and pressure and all of those things that
Speaker:we don't want to put on ourselves.
Speaker:There's enough of that occurs in the world.
Speaker:Doing it right changes everything.
Speaker:When you have.
Speaker:Your books and everything ready for taxes, like when it's done
Speaker:right, it's not a big deal.
Speaker:You have the things in place that you need to.
Speaker:Next week we're gonna talk a little bit about why we avoid it in the
Speaker:first place, but at a minimum.
Speaker:File the extension on your taxes, and if this is something that
Speaker:you're like, you know what?
Speaker:I'm tired of it being the thing that's on my shoulder that I
Speaker:don't get, I don't understand.
Speaker:I want to outsource.
Speaker:Maybe you're not quite ready to outsource, but you would love to
Speaker:outsource bookkeeping simplified is definitely the place to start.
Speaker:Again, we're gonna give you this step by step, and if you're like, no, I
Speaker:wanna just do it myself, go for it.
Speaker:I also have bookkeepers that take the courses as well, because
Speaker:I explain it in a better way.
Speaker:It makes more sense to them anyways.
Speaker:So if this episode brought up questions for you, remember you've got the ability
Speaker:to ask them inside the Telegram channel.
Speaker:Right now, bookkeeping simplified.
Speaker:It is on pre-sale and like.
Speaker:I've completed the outline.
Speaker:Now started working on recording some of the content.
Speaker:There's a lot that's gonna be in there, so I think the price point is gonna end
Speaker:up even higher than I thought it was gonna be, like we're gonna end up raising it.
Speaker:So right now, still pre-sale for you.
Speaker:Lifetime access to the course if you purchase it now.
Speaker:This is designed to help you understand your books, like the principles behind
Speaker:why we do the things that we need to do, how to do it so you can do it.
Speaker:So you can do them yourself or work with somebody.
Speaker:Have somebody do it, can have me do it confidently without
Speaker:the rushing or panicking.
Speaker:Because if you can step into that confident role, again, feeling clear,
Speaker:grounded, confident, you're gonna be so much better off, but you need, there's
Speaker:such power in understanding this.
Speaker:All right.
