Christina, a former journalist, has written about a myriad of topics, writing for publications like Associated Press, the New York Times, Latin America For Time, Financial Times, and many more. She has won prizes for enterprise reporting and interpretive writing, as well as getting tangled up in gang issues, being suspected of drug trafficking, and interviewing billionaires! You'd never believe all that she has lived through!
From her experiences, she channels them into her fiction writing. Her noir crime novel Skin of Tattoos was a finalist for the Silver Falchion Award for suspense, while her YA thriller Girl on the Brink was named one of Suspense Magazine’s Best of YA. She also co-authored Peace in the Hood: Working with Gang Members to End the Violence, which is being used in several universities. Her essays and fiction have won prizes from the International Human Rights Arts Festival and the Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition.
