- Amen, good morning, Springhouse.
Speaker:It's a joy to see you this morning.
Speaker:Before we get going, I had a conversation
Speaker:on the phone last night with Ximena Lindsey.
Speaker:Many of you know Ximena.
Speaker:Her dad, Antonio, is in the hospital in Skyline
Speaker:for suffering from, I believe, a fall, is that correct?
Speaker:And so what I'd like to do is we're gonna pray for them.
Speaker:And so if you'll stand, we're gonna stretch our hands
Speaker:that way, I think Skyline's that way, but the Lord knows.
Speaker:But we're gonna go this way with it, okay?
Speaker:Father, thank you so much for who you are
Speaker:and your sovereignty.
Speaker:I thank you, Lord, for your peace, Lord,
Speaker:that passes understanding.
Speaker:And I thank you for your healing touch.
Speaker:And I ask, Lord, right now that you would cover
Speaker:that hospital room, the Lindsay family, God,
Speaker:I thank you, Lord, for already the miraculous signs
Speaker:and wonders, Lord, that you have performed
Speaker:in this entire ordeal.
Speaker:I thank you, Lord, that the Lindsey family is cognizant
Speaker:of your move and your presence.
Speaker:And I pray, Lord, that you would just meet them
Speaker:right where they are.
Speaker:I pray for Antonio, speed your recovery,
Speaker:be with the doctors and the nurses, Lord,
Speaker:and just cover them in this time.
Speaker:Let this be a testimony of your faithfulness.
Speaker:In Jesus' name, amen, amen.
Speaker:You may be seated this morning.
Speaker:Well, it's always a good day to be in the house
Speaker:of the Lord and with God's people.
Speaker:And this is our last Sunday of 2025.
Speaker:And man, it has been a rich year, has it not?
Speaker:It's been good.
Speaker:Traditionally, if you've been here for any length of time,
Speaker:this Sunday, we do an entire message on reading the Word.
Speaker:And that's intentional because reading the Word
Speaker:is foundational to a believer's life.
Speaker:One of my favorite things that Pastor Ronnie said
Speaker:when he would do this message is,
Speaker:you're never finished reading the Word.
Speaker:You are never finished reading the Word.
Speaker:Today, though, we are going to have a portion
Speaker:of today's service specifically bathed in that,
Speaker:although you're gonna have Scripture all throughout this.
Speaker:But the Holy Spirit, I believe,
Speaker:had something different for us today.
Speaker:And it was evident in our first gathering
Speaker:that it's exactly what I believe
Speaker:that the Lord wanted for today.
Speaker:So with that, if you'll stand with me,
Speaker:we're gonna read from Scripture.
Speaker:We're gonna read Ephesians chapter four.
Speaker:Our clicker is not working this morning,
Speaker:so we're gonna follow along with us as we read.
Speaker:And you all are gonna read like you've got four shots
Speaker:of espresso in you, okay?
Speaker:Here we go.
Speaker:As a prisoner for the Lord then,
Speaker:I urge you to live a life worthy
Speaker:of the calling you have received.
Speaker:Be completely humble and gentle.
Speaker:Be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Speaker:Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
Speaker:through the bond of peace.
Speaker:There is one body and one Spirit,
Speaker:just as you were called to one hope
Speaker:when you were called one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Speaker:one God and Father of all,
Speaker:who is over all and through all and in all.
Speaker:So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets,
Speaker:the evangelists, the pastors and teachers
Speaker:to equip His people for works of service
Speaker:so that the body of Christ may be built up
Speaker:until we reach unity in the faith
Speaker:and in the knowledge of the Son of God
Speaker:and become mature, attaining to the whole measure
Speaker:of the fullness of Christ.
Speaker:Father, I thank you for your word.
Speaker:I thank you that it is a light to our path, God.
Speaker:I thank you that it guides us, it transforms us.
Speaker:I thank you, Lord, that it is alive.
Speaker:I pray, Lord, that you would do your work through it today
Speaker:in Jesus' name, and everybody said amen.
Speaker:You may be seated.
Speaker:I have a question I wanna begin with today,
Speaker:and the question is who are you following?
Speaker:Who are you following?
Speaker:Walk as Christians in our tradition
Speaker:of going and attending a church,
Speaker:it is important in the kingdom to understand
Speaker:who you are following, understand and know
Speaker:who it is that you're following.
Speaker:And today, typically on the last day of the year,
Speaker:I will say here are our elders, this is our eldership.
Speaker:Here they are, they're gonna come up here.
Speaker:We're gonna pray over them, and then we move along.
Speaker:And that's a very important moment
Speaker:because it's super, super important
Speaker:that you are praying for your leaders.
Speaker:It's important that we are praying
Speaker:and covering our leaders in prayer.
Speaker:But this morning, especially because of the direction,
Speaker:I feel like the Lord's taking us in 2026,
Speaker:I felt compelled this morning to expand a little bit
Speaker:on that section with regard to who it is
Speaker:that's in spiritual leadership over this house this morning.
Speaker:And so we're gonna camp here for just a moment.
Speaker:And what I want us to do is I don't want you
Speaker:to mentally check out because I want it
Speaker:to be talking about leadership,
Speaker:but if we read the scripture,
Speaker:this is really for all believers.
Speaker:Do you know that as a believer in Christ Jesus,
Speaker:you have an assignment?
Speaker:Every one of you have an assignment.
Speaker:And so this really is for all of us.
Speaker:It's not just for a few of us.
Speaker:So the question this morning is who are you following?
Speaker:And I wanna start here.
Speaker:Go ahead and hit that slide.
Speaker:Title and position do not make you a kingdom leader.
Speaker:Calling does.
Speaker:Title and position do not make you
Speaker:a kingdom leader, calling does.
Speaker:Calling, the word tells us in Romans chapter 11
Speaker:that the gift and call of God is irrevocable,
Speaker:meaning every one of us has a call and a sign.
Speaker:If you're breathing here and you love the Lord Jesus Christ,
Speaker:you've given your heart to him,
Speaker:you have a job to do here on the planet.
Speaker:And your job is not to come in here
Speaker:and just have a consumer mentality
Speaker:and let somebody else walk out your faith for you.
Speaker:Every one of us has an assignment,
Speaker:a unique position, a unique place.
Speaker:And the title and position that you're giving
Speaker:do not make you a kingdom leader, calling does.
Speaker:If you are in any type of ministry,
Speaker:which most of us are, it may not be in the church,
Speaker:but most of you are in ministry
Speaker:because at your assigned place, wherever that is,
Speaker:you should be exuding the love and joy of Christ Jesus.
Speaker:And so in the ministry calling,
Speaker:especially when it comes to the positions within the church,
Speaker:every kingdom leader faces a point in time
Speaker:or multiple points in times where they're like,
Speaker:"I don't want anything to do with this anymore.
Speaker:"I wanna lay this down."
Speaker:And I have to tell you, over the last four years,
Speaker:there have been multiple moments
Speaker:where I've gotten to that point.
Speaker:But what keeps me going is I'm called.
Speaker:And so the choice is obey or disobey the Lord.
Speaker:And don't you know, whenever you lean into obedience,
Speaker:He meets you every single time.
Speaker:He meets you every single time.
Speaker:Calling is important because it's where we draw
Speaker:our strength from, we are equipped
Speaker:from the God of the universe.
Speaker:Hit the next slide.
Speaker:And so as we are called, the scripture tells us
Speaker:that we just read, live a life worthy
Speaker:of the calling that you've received.
Speaker:Now, this is not about perfection.
Speaker:That's why Jesus had to come.
Speaker:It's not just about what you don't do,
Speaker:but it's also about what you do.
Speaker:Our calling and our effectiveness in our calling,
Speaker:whether or not we're called to the things
Speaker:that we're called to, is measured in fruit.
Speaker:And in the kingdom, that fruit is specified as love,
Speaker:joy, peace, kindness, patience, goodness, self-control,
Speaker:and I would add, humility.
Speaker:And as we're exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit,
Speaker:there is evidence that we are leaning into the Spirit.
Speaker:If we are attempting to do jobs and walk in areas
Speaker:where He has not covered us, He has not called us to,
Speaker:then the Spirit of God is not going to be present.
Speaker:And the only way to have the fruit of the Spirit
Speaker:is to be leaning into the Spirit of God.
Speaker:You can be a great speaker, draw a large crowd,
Speaker:have an infectious personality, and not be a kingdom leader.
Speaker:The most dangerous thing,
Speaker:and guys, I want you to carry this away,
Speaker:the most dangerous thing a kingdom leader can attempt to do
Speaker:is to draw people to themselves rather than to Christ.
Speaker:And the litmus test in that is when you decide to show up
Speaker:to the various things that you show up for in ministry,
Speaker:when you show up to that group thing, that group following,
Speaker:you need to ask yourself,
Speaker:am I here because of the infectious personality
Speaker:of that leader, or am I here
Speaker:because they are pointing me to God?
Speaker:Otherwise, you just have a club.
Speaker:God did not call us to be impressive.
Speaker:He called us to be faithful.
Speaker:Go ahead and hit that next slide.
Speaker:We are called to make every effort,
Speaker:would you say every effort, every effort
Speaker:to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Speaker:Every leader in this place
Speaker:should be pointing you to Jesus Christ.
Speaker:I believe that our leaders do not gossip.
Speaker:They do not complain.
Speaker:They do not tear down other people.
Speaker:We have carried the mantra of,
Speaker:this is a place where gossip goes to die.
Speaker:Unity is the evidence of spiritual maturity.
Speaker:That doesn't mean agreement, it means alignment, alignment.
Speaker:And if you want to measure the spiritual maturity
Speaker:of someone, watch what they do in the middle of a conflict.
Speaker:If you want to measure the spiritual maturity
Speaker:of any believer, watch what they do
Speaker:in the middle of conflict.
Speaker:The world champions and celebrates division and separation.
Speaker:The weapons we use to handle our issues
Speaker:should not look like the world's.
Speaker:We would rather look for leaders
Speaker:who would make us feel good about revenge
Speaker:and allow us to wallow in our bitterness
Speaker:than to take supernatural paths toward Jesus.
Speaker:Have you ever seen the movie "The Forge"?
Speaker:There is a character, the main character in there,
Speaker:his name's Joshua, and he's leading this group of guys
Speaker:in discipleship in his core circle.
Speaker:I'm gonna, spoiler alert here.
Speaker:At the end of the movie, it's discovered
Speaker:that one of the core people that he's walking with
Speaker:actually killed Josh, his name's Bobby,
Speaker:killed Joshua's son in a drunken accident.
Speaker:Yet Joshua walks in reconciliation and forgiveness.
Speaker:That type of reconciliation and forgiveness
Speaker:only comes from being spiritually mature
Speaker:and leaning on a supernatural God.
Speaker:And all of us have access to do that.
Speaker:Kingdom leaders will constantly be looking
Speaker:for a pathway forward toward reconciliation, unity, and peace.
Speaker:Go ahead and hit that next one.
Speaker:And so as he is called and appointed leaders,
Speaker:the job is to equip people
Speaker:so that the body of Christ may be built up
Speaker:because all of you have a job.
Speaker:And so your leaders, your spiritual leaders
Speaker:should be looking at your life and building you up,
Speaker:affirming you in the calling God has placed on your life,
Speaker:equipping you to move and build the body of Christ up.
Speaker:This is for everyone.
Speaker:And the leader's success is measured
Speaker:in the fruit of those they equip.
Speaker:So this is our eldership team here at Springhouse.
Speaker:And I believe that every one of these guys have been called.
Speaker:They're gonna put that picture up as soon, there it is.
Speaker:And one day we're gonna take a picture
Speaker:with all the backgrounds matching,
Speaker:but that has not happened yet.
Speaker:But this is our eldership.
Speaker:And our eldership is responsible
Speaker:for the spiritual wellbeing of our church.
Speaker:And so this group meets regularly, prays together,
Speaker:prays for you and looks for opportunities
Speaker:to serve the body throughout each year.
Speaker:We have an admin board who governs the finances.
Speaker:We have a pastoral team who runs the day-to-day operations,
Speaker:sets the vision and tone for our services.
Speaker:And then we have the eldership overseas.
Speaker:And today I want you to hear from a few of your elders,
Speaker:our elders at this church about the heart that we carry
Speaker:with regard to unity, serving the body,
Speaker:oversight of different ministries
Speaker:and the importance of being in the Word.
Speaker:And so I've got some elders that are gonna come.
Speaker:Hopefully you've recognized their faces.
Speaker:It's gonna be Pastor Justin,
Speaker:followed by Elder Jeremy Jones, then Eric Harding,
Speaker:and then Ronnie Meek.
Speaker:Would you welcome Justin Beshears?
Speaker:(congregation applauding)
Speaker:- Thank you, brother.
Speaker:You might not recognize me.
Speaker:They put my freshman yearbook photo up here.
Speaker:Good Lord.
Speaker:I worked too dang hard to get to senior year
Speaker:for them to put that skinny picture up there of me.
Speaker:You guys might wanna be skinny for 2026, but I don't.
Speaker:I'm going the opposite way.
Speaker:Good Lord.
Speaker:I've already got texts.
Speaker:The moment they put that up, my wife looked over
Speaker:and then I got two text messages.
Speaker:Pastor Kevin said, "One of the qualifications is humility."
Speaker:And God said, "Well, we're gonna deal with this
Speaker:right out the gate."
Speaker:(congregation laughing)
Speaker:I am Pastor Justin here.
Speaker:I'm an associate pastor here at Springhouse.
Speaker:But before I was on staff as a pastor, I was an elder.
Speaker:And long after my time on staff is done,
Speaker:whether someday I retire or most likely
Speaker:after a breakfast meeting, and I'm no longer on staff here,
Speaker:I will still remain an elder here
Speaker:because one of the qualifications of eldership
Speaker:is able to teach.
Speaker:And although that my primary function here
Speaker:from this platform is teaching and studying
Speaker:and leading group studies in here or Thursday nights
Speaker:or Sunday mornings from this platform and equipping you,
Speaker:I function in a lot of ways as an overseer
Speaker:and elder of this house.
Speaker:And I take that role very seriously.
Speaker:And so this morning I'm gonna talk about unity.
Speaker:I wanna open up with a scripture that's been
Speaker:kind of the primary scripture over this body of believers
Speaker:and elders when it comes to unity.
Speaker:And this is in Psalm 133.
Speaker:And it says, "How good and pleasant is it
Speaker:when brothers dwell together in unity?
Speaker:It is like the precious oil on the head,
Speaker:running down the beard on the beard of Aaron,
Speaker:running down on the collar of his robes.
Speaker:It is like the dew of Herman,
Speaker:which falls on the mountains of Zion,
Speaker:for there the Lord has commanded the blessing life
Speaker:forevermore."
Speaker:Unity is very important to the body.
Speaker:So let me start off by telling you guys
Speaker:what unity is not.
Speaker:Unity is not agreement.
Speaker:I don't consider myself to be very argumentative,
Speaker:but judging by the laughter,
Speaker:you guys do consider me to be,
Speaker:I wouldn't say argumentative, but let's just use argumentative
Speaker:for lack of a better term here.
Speaker:Unity does not mean agreement.
Speaker:There have been many occasions over the years
Speaker:before I was on the elder board
Speaker:and since I've been on the elder board,
Speaker:that we do not see eye to eye
Speaker:or we do not agree on a decision or a direction.
Speaker:We debate often, we discuss,
Speaker:and sometimes we end up coming to an agreement
Speaker:and other times we still disagree.
Speaker:So how can you walk in unity if you're not in agreement?
Speaker:So unity is not agreement.
Speaker:Now let me tell you what unity is.
Speaker:Unity means a shared heart posture.
Speaker:The last thing that Pastor Kevin
Speaker:or the pastoral staff need is a bunch of yes men.
Speaker:He doesn't need us to hooray, hoorah,
Speaker:and champion every decision that he has, okay?
Speaker:Instead, what he does need is an eldership
Speaker:with a shared heart posture based on mutual submission,
Speaker:trust in one another,
Speaker:and a willingness to follow the Holy Spirit together.
Speaker:So your eldership, while sometimes disagreeing,
Speaker:walk in lockstep under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker:Unity is a shared heart posture.
Speaker:So now how do we walk in unity?
Speaker:How do we achieve that here at Springhouse?
Speaker:Well, unity has to be decided beforehand.
Speaker:We go into it, whether it's a meeting
Speaker:or an email thread or something,
Speaker:if there's a decision to be made,
Speaker:or if there's something that we're discussing
Speaker:or we're praying over,
Speaker:we go into it with the mindset
Speaker:that we're gonna walk in unity no matter what.
Speaker:And so because we've decided beforehand
Speaker:we're gonna walk in unity,
Speaker:then no matter what it takes for however long it takes,
Speaker:we will not leave a conclusion until we're united in it.
Speaker:We're not striving for unity, we're walking in it.
Speaker:And because your leadership here,
Speaker:the spiritual oversight at Springhouse is walking in it,
Speaker:that gives you guys a model to walk in it.
Speaker:Because what the world says is
Speaker:that because you don't agree with one another
Speaker:and you don't see eye to eye,
Speaker:then you should be diametrically opposed to one another.
Speaker:If your theology doesn't match their theology,
Speaker:then matter of fact,
Speaker:you two should just sit on opposite sides of the church.
Speaker:No, we have to find the commonality and walk together.
Speaker:We don't necessarily have to be
Speaker:in complete agreement on everything.
Speaker:And I know the scripture says,
Speaker:how can two walk together unless they be agreed?
Speaker:But agreement is not necessarily, I think, the same as you.
Speaker:It means that we're going to be united
Speaker:in the cause of Christ,
Speaker:and we're going to surrender and yield
Speaker:to the Holy Spirit and His leading.
Speaker:So here at Springhouse, we are not striving for unity,
Speaker:we're walking in it.
Speaker:Unity is not something that we're trying to achieve,
Speaker:it's something that we're actively modeling for the body.
Speaker:Amen?
Speaker:Now welcome Elder Jeremy Jones.
Speaker:Good morning, Springhouse.
Speaker:My name is Jeremy Jones, and I've,
Speaker:see, I started here at Springhouse in 2008,
Speaker:and then I became an elder in 2019
Speaker:with Pastor Justin, Elder Justin and I came in together.
Speaker:We were the last and only five-star class.
Speaker:That was Justin and I voted, and we both agreed to that.
Speaker:So, we're going to be together.
Speaker:We agreed to that, so.
Speaker:(audience laughing)
Speaker:We're going to talk about humility today.
Speaker:(audience laughing)
Speaker:And also unity, remember, we may not agree,
Speaker:but we all get to a place we align.
Speaker:The other thing I thought was interesting with this picture,
Speaker:you go back to the picture.
Speaker:The other thing I thought was interesting
Speaker:with this picture too,
Speaker:is that it really is a very diverse group of people,
Speaker:and a lot of people have a,
Speaker:kind of think along different wavelengths,
Speaker:ultimately getting centered
Speaker:what the Holy Spirit's telling us to do.
Speaker:But you have Elder Eric Harding,
Speaker:and then Hal Laughlin wear the same clothes,
Speaker:and then also want to be right beside each other.
Speaker:So, well done, guys.
Speaker:That's because Barbie and Val shop at the same place.
Speaker:All right, here we go.
Speaker:Our calling and our desire and responsibility
Speaker:to serve the body.
Speaker:1 Peter 4, verse eight through 11.
Speaker:"Above all, love each other deeply,
Speaker:because love covers over a multitude of sins.
Speaker:Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.
Speaker:Each one of you should use whatever gift you have received
Speaker:to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace
Speaker:in his various forms.
Speaker:If anyone speaks, they should do so
Speaker:as one who speaks the very words of God.
Speaker:If anyone serves, they should do so
Speaker:with the strength God provides,
Speaker:so that in all times God may be praised through Jesus Christ,
Speaker:to him be the glory and the power forever and ever.
Speaker:Amen."
Speaker:If anyone serves, they should do so
Speaker:with the strength God provides.
Speaker:I currently serve in children's ministry,
Speaker:and that was something I was called to do,
Speaker:because I don't like kids.
Speaker:(congregation applauding)
Speaker:I like my kids.
Speaker:I love my kids.
Speaker:But the Lord called me to do that with Arwen,
Speaker:and we've been doing it for years.
Speaker:I don't even know how many years we've been doing it.
Speaker:We took a break for a period when June was born,
Speaker:and then we're back now.
Speaker:And it is something that is something I look forward to.
Speaker:It's something that I feel like
Speaker:just have a great responsibility for.
Speaker:I currently teach the small group
Speaker:with fourth and fifth grade boys.
Speaker:And then after that, we pass them over here to youth
Speaker:and try our best to be able to equip them
Speaker:with the things they're currently going through right now.
Speaker:They're so coachable, they're teachable, they're moldable.
Speaker:And it's the area that the Lord called me
Speaker:to be able to serve in, but he's also equipped me for that.
Speaker:Before, before the Holy Spirit called me to do that,
Speaker:I was definitely not equipped for that,
Speaker:but the Lord changed my heart specifically for that season.
Speaker:So I'm there in that season
Speaker:until the Lord calls for something else.
Speaker:But that's the position of your eldership.
Speaker:In addition to that,
Speaker:we'll read from Philippians 2, verse one through eight.
Speaker:"Therefore, if any of you,
Speaker:encouragement from being united with Christ,
Speaker:if any comfort from his love,
Speaker:if any common sharing in the Spirit,
Speaker:if any tenderness, compassion,
Speaker:then make my joy complete by being like-minded,
Speaker:having the same love, being one in the Spirit,
Speaker:and of one mind.
Speaker:Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
Speaker:rather in humility, value others above yourself,
Speaker:not looking in your own interest,
Speaker:but each of you to the interest of the others.
Speaker:In relationship with one another,
Speaker:have the same mindset as Christ Jesus,
Speaker:who being in the very nature of God,
Speaker:did not consider equality with God
Speaker:something to be used to his own advantage.
Speaker:Rather, he made himself nothing
Speaker:by taking the very nature of a servant,
Speaker:being made in human likeness,
Speaker:and being found in appearance as a man,
Speaker:he humbled himself by being obedient to death,
Speaker:even to the cross.
Speaker:The takeaway is this, your elders are imperfect people,
Speaker:just like you are imperfect people.
Speaker:But we've been called to be able to serve in this capacity,
Speaker:and it's something that every single year we take serious,
Speaker:because eldership is a lifelong appointment,
Speaker:but it's not something we do as a lifelong serving,
Speaker:actively serving.
Speaker:So every year, Kevin and the pastors ask us
Speaker:to be able to pray and ask if we wanna be serving
Speaker:and doing something,
Speaker:and we pray and ask if we wanna be serving
Speaker:in the eldership capacity again.
Speaker:We need your prayers.
Speaker:Just like we pray for you guys,
Speaker:we need your prayers as well.
Speaker:Because just as Pastor Justin just talked about,
Speaker:it's a challenge to walk in unity at times,
Speaker:but we do it through the Holy Spirit,
Speaker:and we do it by being sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
Speaker:It's a challenge at times to be able to go and serve
Speaker:in different capacities,
Speaker:by the Holy Spirit's calling.
Speaker:So we thank you for the opportunity
Speaker:to be able to be an elder.
Speaker:And there's gonna be a moment here,
Speaker:we did this in first service,
Speaker:but there'll be a moment at the end of service
Speaker:where Pastor Kevin asked people to come up and pray,
Speaker:step outside your comfort zone.
Speaker:That's not me telling you that.
Speaker:That's what I feel like the Holy Spirit's telling us to do.
Speaker:So if you don't know how to pray for people,
Speaker:you haven't done that before,
Speaker:just come up here and I guarantee you,
Speaker:the Holy Spirit will tell you something for that.
Speaker:Thank you guys.
Speaker:Pastor, I mean, elder, elder.
Speaker:Eric Corning.
Speaker:Good morning, Springhouse.
Speaker:Guess how we do shop at the same place, apparently.
Speaker:So good morning.
Speaker:So I'm honored to represent the elders
Speaker:and have a chance to talk about the heart posture
Speaker:with regards to shepherding
Speaker:and being watchmen for this house.
Speaker:These roles are not Springhouse born.
Speaker:They are scripturally charged and defined.
Speaker:They represent responsibilities
Speaker:that include spiritual leadership,
Speaker:protection, accountability.
Speaker:While they overlap,
Speaker:they portray two different facets of care.
Speaker:The shepherd focuses on nurturing and guidance,
Speaker:while the watchman focuses on vigilance and warning.
Speaker:So what does the word say about shepherding?
Speaker:In 1 Peter 5, verses two and three, it says,
Speaker:"Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care,
Speaker:"watching over them, not because you must,
Speaker:"but because you are willing as God wants you to be,
Speaker:"not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve,
Speaker:"not lording it over those entrusted to you,
Speaker:"but being examples to the flock."
Speaker:As Jeremy mentioned,
Speaker:every year we are provided the opportunity to seek the Lord
Speaker:and renew the commitment for that year to be active
Speaker:or to make the decision to be inactive for the next year.
Speaker:And this is important.
Speaker:That's the willing part of that definition.
Speaker:This is important because it allows us the opportunity
Speaker:to hear from the Lord and really confirm
Speaker:that we are still able to perform
Speaker:in this important capacity.
Speaker:These roles do not have end dates,
Speaker:do not have term limits to them.
Speaker:So this provides us an opportunity for each of us
Speaker:to really assess life and the season we are in.
Speaker:1 Timothy 3, verses one through four
Speaker:provide a description of what an elder should exemplify.
Speaker:And it reads, "Here is a trustworthy saying,
Speaker:"whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.
Speaker:"Now the overseer is to be above reproach,
Speaker:"faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled,
Speaker:"respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
Speaker:"not given to drunkenness, not violent, but gentle,
Speaker:"not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.
Speaker:"He must manage his own family well
Speaker:"and see that his children obey him.
Speaker:"And he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect."
Speaker:So shepherding does not mean controlling.
Speaker:It is not about a title.
Speaker:So what does it mean?
Speaker:This is not an exhaustive list of statements,
Speaker:but a few things that we hold dear,
Speaker:that we are here to protect the vision
Speaker:that God has provided to Springhouse.
Speaker:We are here to guard the safety of our children
Speaker:and our youth.
Speaker:We are here to ensure the ministries are healthy
Speaker:and spirit-led, and we are here to serve
Speaker:the entire pastoral staff and their families,
Speaker:ensuring that they have space for rest,
Speaker:they are not overworked, and they have clarity there
Speaker:then to hear from the Holy Spirit.
Speaker:Beyond these duties, shepherding is absolutely
Speaker:about personal connections and relationships.
Speaker:That's the nurturing part of the care.
Speaker:We strive to be hospitable, gentle,
Speaker:and ensuring that the congregation feels seen and known,
Speaker:to not lead by command, but rather being examples
Speaker:in the walks of our lives.
Speaker:And we are called to keep watch over all.
Speaker:And that requires, that's where the relationship piece
Speaker:comes in, to really ensure that the reaching out
Speaker:to those that are hurt or in need.
Speaker:And we also act with a sense of urgency,
Speaker:and you provide real support alongside prayer.
Speaker:Our Lord and shepherd, thankfully, is not afraid
Speaker:to walk through the mud with us, as a shepherd should, right?
Speaker:And neither should the elders be.
Speaker:When written down, and I go through this,
Speaker:it seems like a lot for this group to cover,
Speaker:but as Justin said, that's where walking in unity
Speaker:and support of each other with the Holy Spirit
Speaker:assures that the elders' duties and responsibilities
Speaker:are fulfilled.
Speaker:The watchman role, as I mentioned in the beginning,
Speaker:does demand vigilance and warning.
Speaker:While the shepherd guides the flock with a staff,
Speaker:the trumpet is used by the watchman
Speaker:to provide sound of alarms for invading armies and sin.
Speaker:And these things are still happening today.
Speaker:The spiritual wars and the armies are very real today.
Speaker:If you read in Acts, sorry, in chapter 20,
Speaker:verses 28 through 31, it reads, "Keep watch over yourselves,
Speaker:and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit
Speaker:has made you overseers.
Speaker:Be shepherds of the church of God,
Speaker:which he bought with his own blood.
Speaker:I know that after I leave,
Speaker:savage wolves will come in among you
Speaker:and will not spare the flock.
Speaker:Even from your own number,
Speaker:men will arise and distort the truth
Speaker:in order to draw disciples after them.
Speaker:So be on guard."
Speaker:This is not what happened.
Speaker:This is what's happening.
Speaker:So this is not just the word of God,
Speaker:it's absolutely the living word of God.
Speaker:This is still happening today.
Speaker:The enemy is getting more and more sophisticated
Speaker:as he comes after our church family,
Speaker:and as he comes after our families at home.
Speaker:We as elders and parents cannot be naive,
Speaker:nor can we allow to be caught sleeping at the wheel.
Speaker:In Susud's "The Art of War," he says,
Speaker:"If you know the enemy and yourself,
Speaker:you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.
Speaker:If you know yourself, but not the enemy,
Speaker:for every victory, you will also suffer a defeat.
Speaker:If you know neither the enemy nor yourself,
Speaker:you will succumb to every battle."
Speaker:And so this emphasizes that knowledge
Speaker:is the foundation for success
Speaker:in really any competitive situation,
Speaker:whether that's business,
Speaker:whether that's leadership or warfare,
Speaker:and our knowledge comes from the word of God.
Speaker:So what does scripture then say of our enemy?
Speaker:All the way back in Genesis,
Speaker:we are told what that enemy looks like.
Speaker:Genesis chapter three, verse one, God tells us,
Speaker:"Now the serpent was the most cunning
Speaker:of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made.
Speaker:He said to the woman, 'Did God really say
Speaker:you cannot eat from the tree in the garden?'"
Speaker:So that is absolutely cunning, and it's also manipulative.
Speaker:And that's the type of enemy
Speaker:that we are up against every single day.
Speaker:So as we close, the elders,
Speaker:we ask you to please realize that that certain serpent
Speaker:did not appear until God established the family.
Speaker:He went right around Adam because he hates the family,
Speaker:as it is the engine of generational faith.
Speaker:As elders, we are sounding the trumpet today.
Speaker:Do not let the enemy drive a wedge
Speaker:between you and those that you love.
Speaker:It is our duty to stay on guard,
Speaker:expose the enemy's footholds,
Speaker:and shine a light into those dark corners.
Speaker:The God of angel armies is absolutely on our side.
Speaker:When we know our God and we realize
Speaker:and we call out our enemy, we will prevail.
Speaker:Now please, batting forth for the elders,
Speaker:I give you Ron Amick.
Speaker:(congregation applauding)
Speaker:Yeah, the fourth hitter is the heavy guy.
Speaker:The third hitter is the best hitter in the lineup.
Speaker:Just saying.
Speaker:If you're having trouble picking me out
Speaker:and those pictures up there, so am I.
Speaker:I did used to have hair though, yeah.
Speaker:In the summer of 1975,
Speaker:I had an encounter that absolutely changed my life.
Speaker:It wasn't when I gave my life to the Lord,
Speaker:I did that in 1956.
Speaker:I was a six-year-old and kneeling at the altar.
Speaker:But I had been up and down and over and out and around
Speaker:and just not consistent.
Speaker:I don't know if anybody can relate to that.
Speaker:And for the past six years prior to that,
Speaker:I'd really been running as hard as I could
Speaker:away from the Lord.
Speaker:But in the spring of '75, I gave my life back to the Lord.
Speaker:And I really felt that that summer that he told me
Speaker:to go down to Chattanooga and visit my friend,
Speaker:David Busby, who I'd gone to high school with.
Speaker:And after high school, we'd gone our separate ways.
Speaker:And they'd been very separate ways.
Speaker:I had really gone away from the Lord.
Speaker:And he was a youth pastor at a big old Baptist church.
Speaker:Down in Chattanooga.
Speaker:And I felt like, well, I need to go down there and see David.
Speaker:It just felt that in my heart.
Speaker:And so I went and spent, I don't remember,
Speaker:two or three days, maybe four, but a few days.
Speaker:We had some really sweet fellowship,
Speaker:a really good time in fellowship.
Speaker:But actually the Lord has sent me there
Speaker:for a divine appointment.
Speaker:I went with David to his youth group.
Speaker:And he brought a teaching that night
Speaker:about reading the Word, the benefits of reading the Word
Speaker:and the importance of reading the Word.
Speaker:And it just, it went right through me and permeated me.
Speaker:I'd never heard of a teaching quite like that before.
Speaker:And I've taught it several times since.
Speaker:But at the end of it, he did an extremely Baptist thing.
Speaker:He asked us to sign a commitment card.
Speaker:I don't know if you've ever done that or not,
Speaker:but the commitment card that he wanted us to sign
Speaker:was a commitment to read the Word every day.
Speaker:And we put on there how long,
Speaker:either a period of time each day
Speaker:that we were committing to read the Word
Speaker:or a number of chapters
Speaker:that we were supposed to read each day.
Speaker:And I was just kind of swirling.
Speaker:And it really felt like the Holy Spirit said to me,
Speaker:"You're supposed to put down a number of chapters,
Speaker:put down 15 a day."
Speaker:Yeah, and that's exactly how I felt when he told me that.
Speaker:But I did it.
Speaker:He said, "Well, did you keep that commitment?"
Speaker:Duh, I'm a baby boomer.
Speaker:It wasn't like it is now.
Speaker:It wasn't you make a commitment
Speaker:and then you decide if you wanna keep it
Speaker:when you get there.
Speaker:I mean, if you made a commitment, you did the commitment.
Speaker:And there are a handful of baby boomers in the room
Speaker:and they can identify what I'm saying.
Speaker:Or did you do it the whole year?
Speaker:I did it about 10 years, actually.
Speaker:Before I go a little bit further into that
Speaker:and tell you why I stopped.
Speaker:I didn't stop reading daily.
Speaker:I stopped doing the 15 chapters a day.
Speaker:Let me tell you a little bit about David's teaching.
Speaker:He brought up six or seven points from Psalm 119.
Speaker:And I don't have time for six or seven points, of course,
Speaker:but let me blitz through three of them
Speaker:that might be significant to you.
Speaker:Psalm 119, verse 45 says,
Speaker:"I walk about in freedom because I pursue your precepts."
Speaker:Now we talk about freedom in this country,
Speaker:but we're mostly talking about political freedom
Speaker:or maybe we're talking about financial freedom
Speaker:or the freedom to travel or something like that.
Speaker:But come on, people.
Speaker:I mean, we know that's not real freedom.
Speaker:That's just stuff.
Speaker:And there are people who have all that stuff
Speaker:and maybe that's some of you,
Speaker:but inside and in our lives, we're just so bound up.
Speaker:Jesus said, "Whoever sins is a slave to sin."
Speaker:And a lot of us don't walk about in freedom
Speaker:because we don't pursue his precepts.
Speaker:Five verses later, in verse 50, it says,
Speaker:"My comfort in suffering is this.
Speaker:Your promise preserves my life."
Speaker:Now everybody in here has suffered at some point in time.
Speaker:Some of you may be suffering right now.
Speaker:And all of you know, if you got a lick of sense,
Speaker:that you're gonna be suffering again at some point in time
Speaker:and you're gonna need comfort.
Speaker:And that comes from the Word.
Speaker:That's where it comes from.
Speaker:And when you have a steady stream of it,
Speaker:it's not like, "Oh, I'm suffering now.
Speaker:I need to go get some comfort."
Speaker:No, it's already a part of the fabric of your life.
Speaker:And then it's verse 165, 119, 165 says,
Speaker:"Great peace have those who love your law."
Speaker:Great peace.
Speaker:A moment's peace can be purchased at a day spa,
Speaker:but it's just a moment's peace.
Speaker:If your peace resides in the bank somewhere,
Speaker:you need to understand that that brings
Speaker:just as much anxiety as it does peace.
Speaker:Whatever's in the bank or not in the bank for that matter.
Speaker:If your peace comes because you own
Speaker:a bunch of guns or something,
Speaker:you might consider the fact
Speaker:that you might not actually have peace.
Speaker:You might just have fear.
Speaker:Great peace though.
Speaker:Isaiah says, "You will keep in perfect peace
Speaker:in whom's mind has stayed on you."
Speaker:And the way for our minds to be stayed on him
Speaker:is to be in the Word, to be in the Word daily.
Speaker:I told you I did the 15 chapter a day thing
Speaker:for about 10 years.
Speaker:And what happened, one of the reasons why I quit,
Speaker:took the Lord a couple of years to get me out of it,
Speaker:quite frankly, because I was becoming
Speaker:the 15 chapter a day guy.
Speaker:And the Lord goes, "No, no, no, no.
Speaker:We don't want to go there."
Speaker:That was my path for a season.
Speaker:And then he brought me into a different season.
Speaker:But the important thing that night wasn't
Speaker:that I wrote down 15 chapters.
Speaker:The important thing that night was
Speaker:that I committed to read the Word every day of my life.
Speaker:And I can honestly say, well, we're past 50 years now.
Speaker:Oh, and it's so rich and it's so good.
Speaker:But here's a warning also.
Speaker:You see the elders at the church here,
Speaker:we look to the Word for guidance.
Speaker:We look to the Word for answers.
Speaker:But we do so with humility.
Speaker:Because it is so easy to fall into the position
Speaker:and to the place that the leaders,
Speaker:the spiritual leaders of Christ's day were in,
Speaker:they loved the Word, but they were so convinced
Speaker:of their interpretation of the Word
Speaker:and what they thought about the Word
Speaker:that they couldn't recognize God
Speaker:when he stood and looked them right in the face.
Speaker:So it's important to keep your heart soft.
Speaker:You are not designed, I am not designed to drive this F1.
Speaker:The Holy Spirit is the only one who can drive it.
Speaker:So you have to give him room to bring something new to you.
Speaker:You might see something that you've thought this
Speaker:for 50 years, but today the Holy Spirit says,
Speaker:now look at it this way.
Speaker:I'll close with this.
Speaker:Jesus told a parable about the Word.
Speaker:It's a parable of the sower.
Speaker:Many of you I'm sure are familiar with it.
Speaker:And some of the seed fell on the path
Speaker:and the birds came and ate it up
Speaker:before it had a chance to do anything.
Speaker:And of course that's the person who hears the Word
Speaker:and they don't hear the Word.
Speaker:You know, the Word is going forth,
Speaker:but it doesn't get in anything, doesn't penetrate.
Speaker:And then some of the seed fell on rocky soil
Speaker:and that's not soil with a bunch of rocks in it.
Speaker:It's soil with a bedrock in it and a thin layer of soil.
Speaker:And the seed immediately sprung up and they were so glad,
Speaker:but then it died just as quickly.
Speaker:And sometimes that's the person who hears something.
Speaker:They'll hear a sermon or they'll hear a teaching
Speaker:or they'll just hear something from God and they'll go,
Speaker:yes, yes, this is going to change my life.
Speaker:And it does for about three days or maybe a week.
Speaker:And then it's gone.
Speaker:And then there was seed that fell on thorny soil.
Speaker:And that soil was capable of producing fruit,
Speaker:but there was so much other stuff in it.
Speaker:Jesus says it's the cares of this life
Speaker:and the deceitfulness of riches.
Speaker:And boy, have I lost a lot of seed in my life.
Speaker:And you probably have to, that's that kind of person.
Speaker:And then there's the seed that fell on good soil
Speaker:and it produced a crop 30, 60, 100 fold.
Speaker:And I've always thought that's the one I want to be.
Speaker:That's the soil that I would like to be.
Speaker:But the truth of the matter is I'm all four
Speaker:and you're all four.
Speaker:And so I can't just depend on,
Speaker:well, hopefully when the right time comes,
Speaker:it'll fall in the right kind of soil.
Speaker:I need it every day, every day.
Speaker:I need a lot of seed.
Speaker:And some's going to bear good fruit.
Speaker:Pastor Kevin.
Speaker:- Thank you.
Speaker:2026, next Sunday,
Speaker:we're going to start a new series.
Speaker:We've been in the greatest stories ever told in 2025.
Speaker:We're going to be looking at John chapter 15,
Speaker:Abide in Christ, Remain in Christ.
Speaker:And so we have put together a Bible reading plan for you
Speaker:to follow along where we're going to be going on Sundays.
Speaker:And we encourage you to be a part of that.
Speaker:Now, if you go on our church app right now,
Speaker:you're still going to see this year's
Speaker:current Bible reading plan,
Speaker:'cause we're still in this year.
Speaker:But by Thursday,
Speaker:that new one's going to be uploaded.
Speaker:Make a commitment to be in the Word every day.
Speaker:Amen?
Speaker:Amen.
Speaker:The church, the church was not man's idea.
Speaker:The church was God's idea.
Speaker:And so if you are an elder here,
Speaker:if you will come and make your way forward,
Speaker:all of us have a part to play.
Speaker:You all do not attend Kevin O'Dea's church.
Speaker:You do not attend the eldership's church.
Speaker:Christ is in charge of this church.
Speaker:Christ is.
Speaker:And we all play a role.
Speaker:And so I've asked the elders to come
Speaker:and we're going to do something a little messy this morning.
Speaker:And that's okay.
Speaker:We can do messy just fine.
Speaker:Okay, so we're going to do four things.
Speaker:The first thing we're going to do
Speaker:is I'm going to ask you all to come
Speaker:and pray over the elders.
Speaker:Find the elder you don't like
Speaker:and come and pray for them this morning.
Speaker:Lay hands on them and pray.
Speaker:Pray for them this morning.
Speaker:Wait, wait.
Speaker:Cole knew exactly where he was going.
Speaker:(congregation laughing)
Speaker:So wait, wait, wait till I call you, okay?
Speaker:Want you to pray over,
Speaker:you can pray over a couple of elders.
Speaker:You don't have to do all of them.
Speaker:You can pray daily for all of them.
Speaker:You should pray daily for all of us.
Speaker:But today, pick one or two and come and pray.
Speaker:We're going to take five or six minutes and do that.
Speaker:After that is over,
Speaker:I recognize, we recognize that several of you
Speaker:are involved in ministry leadership here at Springhouse.
Speaker:Whether you work with Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry,
Speaker:Men's Ministry, Women's Ministry, F-Stop,
Speaker:the Food Ministry, there's so many ministries here
Speaker:that you are tied to.
Speaker:If you are in any type of leadership,
Speaker:the eldership, each of them have prayerfully considered
Speaker:which ministries they'll oversee this year.
Speaker:And so I'm going to ask you to come forward
Speaker:in just a little bit,
Speaker:and we're going to pray over the different ministries
Speaker:and you as a ministry leader,
Speaker:because we're supposed to pray for one another, okay?
Speaker:After that's over, I'm going to ask the elders
Speaker:to come to the stage with the pastoral staff,
Speaker:and we're going to pray over the pastors,
Speaker:over the pastoral staff here at the church, okay?
Speaker:So those are the things that we're going to do
Speaker:to close out today.
Speaker:So if you guys would come this morning
Speaker:and lay hands on our elders and spend some time in prayer
Speaker:over these brothers who are leading.
Speaker:Come on, you come.
Speaker:(gentle music)
Speaker:Okay, at this time I would ask if you are a ministry leader
Speaker:in any capacity, if you consider yourself
Speaker:a ministry leader here, whether you teach the children,
Speaker:the youth, you're involved in worship,
Speaker:you're involved in one of the men's or women's ministries,
Speaker:any ministry leadership.
Speaker:Our eldership has decided to oversee all of the various
Speaker:ministries, they've prayed over that,
Speaker:so they're going to find you if you guys will kind of
Speaker:get together in like ministry groups,
Speaker:the eldership will find you.
Speaker:This is a little messy because some of you are in multiple
Speaker:ministries and that's okay.
Speaker:You'll get prayed for for one and somebody will come
Speaker:and pray for you in another, that's okay.
Speaker:But let's just work that area,
Speaker:and if you're out in the congregation,
Speaker:you're probably involved in one of these ministries.
Speaker:Be in prayer during this time, don't check out.
Speaker:Let's allow the Holy Spirit to move.
Speaker:So let's take a few moments and pray.
Speaker:Okay, at this time I would ask for our pastors
Speaker:to come to the stage, okay, if you'll come to the stage,
Speaker:and the elders, if you will come behind them to the stage.
Speaker:So if I can have our pastoral team just kind of take
Speaker:center ground here and step forward so the elders
Speaker:can have room behind.
Speaker:So elders, you're coming up behind the pastoral team.
Speaker:Yeah, right here is good, yeah.
Speaker:So if you guys would stand for just a moment
Speaker:and extend your hands this way, I'm gonna ask Brother Howell
Speaker:to pray over the pastoral staff, and then after that,
Speaker:if Elder James and Wade would pray over me and Shari,
Speaker:that would be wonderful.
Speaker:Thank you for this time, this opportunity to come and pray
Speaker:for those that you have chosen.
Speaker:You've picked every one of these leaders and pastors
Speaker:that are involved with the ministries of Springhouse.
Speaker:I ask Father that you continue to anoint them
Speaker:for this service they've been called into.
Speaker:I ask Father that you put a hedge of protection around them
Speaker:that protects them from the enemy in the onslaughts.
Speaker:Father, I ask that you send them people to serve
Speaker:alongside of them so that their burden is not so heavy
Speaker:with what it is that they do.
Speaker:I ask Father, you continue to bless them
Speaker:and give them insight as they carry forward
Speaker:with their ministries, and just to be able to show
Speaker:that it's not a heavy burden, but it's a light burden,
Speaker:and it's something that they love to do
Speaker:and that they are called to do, and it not be burdensome.
Speaker:In Jesus' name, amen.
Speaker:Father, we thank you.
Speaker:We thank you for Kevin and Shari.
Speaker:We thank you for their heart for you, their love for you,
Speaker:their love for this body.
Speaker:We thank you, Lord, for the way that they pour their life out
Speaker:as a beautiful example of being Jesus
Speaker:and what that looks like to love on people, to love on us.
Speaker:We're grateful that you've called them
Speaker:to minister to this body.
Speaker:We thank you for the call that you have
Speaker:in each of their lives, the giftings that you've given them.
Speaker:We pray that those giftings would be used to great purpose
Speaker:in your kingdom, in our midst, in this community.
Speaker:Father, we thank you for the leadership
Speaker:that you bring through them, and we
Speaker:ask you to lead them and guide them this year.
Speaker:Direct them, Father.
Speaker:May we come alongside them as you do.
Speaker:May our hearts just join with theirs,
Speaker:and may we lift their arms up.
Speaker:May we encourage them by our response
Speaker:to your calling on their life, and your leading
Speaker:through them in our body.
Speaker:Father, we ask for you to bring just this closeness.
Speaker:Lord, we thank you for the compassion
Speaker:that you've spilled out through them,
Speaker:the heart for the lost, a caring for the people in this place
Speaker:and in this community.
Speaker:We ask that it might be infectious among us,
Speaker:and that we might carry that compassion with them
Speaker:as we walk with them and as we do your will.
Speaker:And we're just used for your purposes, Father.
Speaker:And then we ask you to guard them.
Speaker:We ask you to guard their family, their relationship
Speaker:with one another, that it would be set apart and set
Speaker:in a special way with some guard and a special time.
Speaker:And Lord, that you would guard this house, Lord.
Speaker:We thank you for your word and the provision
Speaker:it brings to us to hear your voice, to know your call,
Speaker:to recognize the voice of the evil one.
Speaker:We pray that you would bless them with this guardianship,
Speaker:this guard for their family, for their relationship with you
Speaker:and one another, and for the relationship in this body.
Speaker:Help us, Lord God, walk and have their back.
Speaker:Thank you, Jesus.
Speaker:Yes, Lord, we agree.
Speaker:We say thank you for Kevin and Shari.
Speaker:We are so grateful for them as shepherds in this house, God.
Speaker:We just know that there's so many sacrifices, Lord,
Speaker:that they lay down.
Speaker:And it's all for you, God.
Speaker:It's all for these people.
Speaker:It's for this church, God.
Speaker:And so as they continue to sacrifice and pour
Speaker:of themselves into this place, God,
Speaker:I pray that you would honor that, Lord.
Speaker:You do.
Speaker:And you give so much.
Speaker:So we're so grateful.
Speaker:We're so thankful for Kevin and Shari
Speaker:and how they shepherd this house.
Speaker:And Lord, we just pray blessings over them in 2026, God,
Speaker:that it wouldn't have to wait until then.
Speaker:But over these next couple of days, God,
Speaker:that they would begin to notice that you're just
Speaker:pouring out increase and supernatural wisdom
Speaker:and insight, Lord, for what's to come, God.
Speaker:Thank you for using them in such mighty ways.
Speaker:Lord, I just pray that you be honored in everything
Speaker:that they do in this house.
Speaker:In Jesus' name, everybody said amen.
Speaker:Amen.
Speaker:Amen.
Speaker:Thank you, God.
Speaker:Thank you, man.
Speaker:I love you guys.
Speaker:It's a blessing to be on this journey with you.
Speaker:If you guys will have a seat for just one more moment with us.
Speaker:We have a ministry here called F-Stop.
Speaker:And F-Stop is comprised of a team of people
Speaker:who catalog and take photographs of our life that's
Speaker:happening here.
Speaker:David Warren is leader of that ministry.
Speaker:And they have put together a year in review video for 2025.
Speaker:And so I'm going to let him set this up.
Speaker:And then we have this gift for you.
Speaker:So David.
Speaker:Thank you, Pastor Kevin.
Speaker:Thank you, Pastor Kevin.
Speaker:This project came out of our theme
Speaker:that we had this year, the greatest stories ever told.
Speaker:So we decided that we were going to tell a little bit
Speaker:of the Springhouse's story.
Speaker:And it became real evident early on that this isn't--
Speaker:our story isn't about the stuff that we do.
Speaker:We do a lot of stuff.
Speaker:It's not about the stuff that we do.
Speaker:But it's about the people and the hearts and our postures
Speaker:of everyone here.
Speaker:And it's an amazing family.
Speaker:So I hope you're going to see that in this presentation
Speaker:here in just a moment.
Speaker:I have to thank a few people real fast.
Speaker:Because without them, this wouldn't be on the screens
Speaker:today.
Speaker:I want to thank the F-Stop photographers who put in time
Speaker:and covered events.
Speaker:I want to thank the ministries that contributed for those
Speaker:themselves.
Speaker:I want to thank Brittany and Jonathan Grisham for the music.
Speaker:I want to thank Pastor Kevin and the leadership
Speaker:here that support a ministry like F-Stop.
Speaker:And I have a special thanks to my brother, Jim Caldwell,
Speaker:who put this video together.
Speaker:And I hope it's a blessing to you.
Speaker:So with that, I hope you will enjoy the greatest stories ever
Speaker:told, the Springhouse Chapter 2025.
Speaker:[APPLAUSE]
Speaker:[MUSIC - "SPRINGHOUSE CHAPTER 2025"]
Speaker:Little brick building, stained glass windows and pews.
Speaker:I remember that old mauve carpet under my best pair of shoes.
Speaker:You should have heard a Sunday.
Speaker:The singing and dancing was something back then.
Speaker:And somewhere in the front row, a deep southern voice
Speaker:would say, amen.
Speaker:Yeah, this place has changed a lot over the years.
Speaker:But there are memories in these walls I will forever have here.
Speaker:My tears are soaked in the carpet in the altar space.
Speaker:I've been baptized in the waters of amazing grace.
Speaker:I've gained decades worth of family.
Speaker:It feels like some I've always known.
Speaker:There's just something about Sundays in this house
Speaker:that feels like home.
Speaker:It's a little bit bigger now than it was 20 years ago.
Speaker:But there's a few more empty seats
Speaker:sitting in the front row.
Speaker:Wish I could tell you all the stories,
Speaker:take you back in time somehow.
Speaker:There were prayers for you, but you
Speaker:were not the only one.
Speaker:There were prayers prayed in the altar.
Speaker:We call miracles now.
Speaker:Oh, my Jesus changed some lives here through the years.
Speaker:And there's a legacy we will always have here.
Speaker:I've been soaked in the carpet in the altar space.
Speaker:I've been baptized in the waters of amazing grace.
Speaker:I've gained decades worth of family.
Speaker:It feels like some I've always known.
Speaker:There's just something about Sundays in this house
Speaker:that feels like home.
Speaker:And I said my vows to my best friend
Speaker:right on that very stage.
Speaker:And I prayed over my children where
Speaker:my daddy gave my hand away.
Speaker:And I've said hard goodbyes to many I'll see again someday.
Speaker:All in this place where my tears are soaked in the carpet
Speaker:in the altar space.
Speaker:I've been baptized in the sweetness of amazing grace.
Speaker:I know church is not a building.
Speaker:That's not what I'm trying to say.
Speaker:There's just something about 50 years of God's grace.
Speaker:And spending 20 years within that same place.
Speaker:There's just something about this spring
Speaker:house that feels like home.
Speaker:[APPLAUSE]
Speaker:Guys, stand with us this afternoon.
Speaker:If you are on the pastoral team, would you join us on the stage?
Speaker:We're going to close in a high praise song,
