In the horror Antebellum, Gabourey plays 'Dawn' best friend to lead character Veronica a successful author played by Janelle Monae.

The film focuses on Veronica, who on the tail end of promoting her latest book finds herself in a life-changing and extremely dangerous situation.

We spoke to Gabourey about her role in the film and her trip to Ghana.
