For some therapists, the beginning of the year is hectic.
2
:The pressure of new year, new you
hovering over like the heavy burden of
3
:perfectionism can become so burdensome
that it activates analysis paralysis.
4
:So instead of falling into society's
trap of reinventing yourself for the
5
:superficial stats and vanity metrics
of like shares and subscribes, let's
6
:start the new year with a new view.
7
:What do you need to embrace a new vision
for your career, business, and lifestyle?
8
:Well, one thing is for sure, there is more
to building a sustainable mental health
9
:business than purchasing a new planner.
10
:You're listening to Beyond the Session
with Ayesha, the business podcast that
11
:teaches you how to create a premium mental
health business and ethically blend your
12
:clinical skills with entrepreneurship.
13
:I'm your host, Aisha, a licensed
mental health therapist and strategic
14
:consultant for mental health industry
leaders who are ready to compassionately
15
:disrupt the mental health industry,
making it more accessible for clients
16
:and more sustainable for clinicians.
17
:Last time on the podcast, you learned
about the four areas of your private
18
:practice that you need to refresh ASAP.
19
:And now it's time to prioritize so
that you can figure out where to
20
:start your private practice refresh.
21
:But in order to do that, you have to know
what worked well and what needs to go.
22
:This week on the podcast, I'm
going to lead by example and
23
:a special two part episode.
24
:I'm taking you behind the scenes of
my mental health business and sharing
25
:with you what I'm keeping the same
in:
26
:Before we dive into today's
episode, I want to give a warm
27
:welcome to the winter cohort of the
blissful booking accelerator today.
28
:We had our kickoff call and
they took goal setting to a
29
:whole new level for 90 minutes.
30
:They dove into the milestone mapping
curriculum call and walked away
31
:with a clear pathway to accomplish
their business and lifestyle goals.
32
:If you are eager to streamline your
strategy to reach your unique goals, add
33
:your name to the waitlist for your chance
to join the spring cohort of the Blissful
34
:Booking 90 Day Accelerator this April.
35
:Now back to the show.
36
:Now that you're familiar with the
four areas of your private practice.
37
:That need to be refreshed ASAP.
38
:Let's look at these four areas
within my mental health business.
39
:And if you haven't had a chance to listen
to the last episode, go back and listen
40
:to it now and then come back to this one.
41
:As you recall, the first area
to refresh is your schedule.
42
:What is currently working for
me is chunking my schedule or
43
:creating themes on my calendar that
are time specific or time bound.
44
:This technique actually works
really well for my coaching clients
45
:that identify as neurodivergent.
46
:Because it is a beautiful balance of
flexibility and structure flexibility
47
:because you're not scheduling every
minute of every day and structure
48
:because it gives a boundary around
what to do within a specific timeframe.
49
:An example of how I chunk my schedule is I
have specific days that I schedule therapy
50
:appointments within my private practice
and specific days that I schedule coaching
51
:sessions within my consulting firm.
52
:By theming or chunking your schedule,
it also reduces decision making fatigue,
53
:which is vital for you as the founder
of a mental health business because you
54
:are using your brain in unique ways.
55
:And the less you context switch or
toggle from one unique task to the
56
:next, the more energy you will have
when your workday is officially over.
57
:The second area is support.
58
:I want you to really think about
support in two different arenas.
59
:One that's going to support
you in your business, like
60
:taking things off your plate
61
:I have hired many people over the years
to help support me in my business.
62
:And the business support that I will
maintain this year is the support that I
63
:received from my virtual assistant, the
support that I received from my attorney,
64
:And her legal team and the support that
I receive through business mentorship,
65
:And then the other element of support
is having a community of support you
66
:may feel support from friends or
family, but you may also want to have
67
:support from a professional community.
68
:many values driven therapists have
expressed feeling lonely throughout their
69
:entrepreneurial journey and actually
rely on networking to fill this void.
70
:However, I define networking as a
way to build and nurture professional
71
:relationships that support your clients
and you as a business owner and clinician.
72
:If you are seeking to build community
that supports you as a person, I
73
:recommend a different approach.
74
:Yes, you can make work friends,
but at some point, wouldn't it be
75
:nice to not talk about work all
the time and talk about life, your
76
:hobbies, things that you enjoy?
77
:Outside of all of the passion that
you have in helping your clients.
78
:This is the reason why I will continue
to host social events for mental health
79
:professionals local to Philadelphia.
80
:So if you are a hop, skip, and a jump
away from South Philly, West Philly,
81
:Rittenhouse Square, or Fairmount
Park, I would love to hang out with
82
:you in person this year during one
of my four seasonal social events.
83
:The first social event of the
year will be the Spring Fling
84
:Mixer on Thursday, March 21st.
85
:You can grab your tickets
starting on Tuesday, January 23rd.
86
:Now, this may come as no surprise,
but when it comes to strategies, the
87
:third area of your business that you
need to refresh for me and my mental
88
:health business, online marketing
strategies are here to stay because
89
:the internet is not going away.
90
:And marketing any business online is
the most efficient way to introduce
91
:yourself to thousands of potential
reliable referral sources and potential
92
:clients without burning yourself out.
93
:Well, let me rephrase that.
94
:If you approach online marketing,
the way that I teach it, you
95
:will not burn yourself out.
96
:In fact, once you know how to effectively
use online marketing strategies to
97
:book clients, you will actually burn
out proof your mental health business.
98
:And who doesn't want that
99
:when it comes to online marketing
strategies, you have many options
100
:available to you and deciding
which one is right for you and your
101
:business depends on two things.
102
:Your unique goals, not somebody
else's, but your unique goals and
103
:your overall vision for your business.
104
:If you're stuck on which online marketing
strategies to use, And the idea of
105
:picking just one is overwhelming to you.
106
:Remember what I said in last
week's episode, it is not one
107
:strategy that is going to get
you the results that you want.
108
:It is an accumulation of strategies.
109
:And where you could start is by making
a list of the goals that you want to
110
:accomplish within the next six months.
111
:Once you have your list created, your
ideal online marketing strategies
112
:might magically manifest itself to you.
113
:But if it doesn't, you can schedule a
discovery call with me and you and I
114
:will dive into the details of your vision
and discuss which of my proven methods
115
:realistically aligned with your goals.
116
:Now, the last area to refresh
in your mental health business.
117
:Is your satisfaction.
118
:You know what they say, Rome
wasn't built in a day and the
119
:same applies for my home office.
120
:I have worked very diligently to have a
home office that is not only comfortable
121
:because I host my telehealth sessions here
as well as my virtual coaching sessions.
122
:. I also need my office to be a space
that supports both my creative
123
:process and the implementation
phase of my unique refresh routine.
124
:My home office isn't the only space
that I feel creative, but it does give
125
:me the necessary physical boundary
between my work and my home life.
126
:So there you have it.
127
:Those are the four areas of my mental
health business that I am keeping the
128
:same in 2024 and part two of this behind
the scenes look at my refresh routine.
129
:I will share with you what I
am changing within my mental
130
:health business this year.
131
:And some of my decisions may surprise you,
but I can promise you that each change
132
:is intentionally anchored to my values.
133
:Until then, if you've enjoyed this
episode of beyond the session with
134
:Aisha, the only way that I will know
is if you tell me you can follow the
135
:podcast on apple or Spotify by tapping
the plus sign at the top of your screen.
136
:You can leave a five star rating
or share what you have learned from
137
:today's episode, or you can pay it
forward and tell a friend that you
138
:listen to Beyond the Session with
Aisha and you think they should too.
139
:Either way, I appreciate
you for tuning in.
140
:Take care, talk soon, and keep thriving.
