Surgery is the only method that can effectively treat a groin hernia, and there are more than one million hernia repairs performed in the U.S. every year. But not all hernia surgeries are the same, and there are different considerations when it comes to treating men and women with this condition. Heather Evans, MD, is a professor of general and acute care surgery at MUSC Health and discusses her work and research in the area of minimally invasive general surgery, including laparoscopic hernia repair and how it pertains to women's health.
